We used Kens Carpets to install Kardean flooring throughout our home starting in 2011. We did it in phases over the course of 5 years or so. Kens business was great to work with. He did all the estimates himself, and his installers work directly for him. They were always on time, respected our belongings, and did an amazing job, both in design and installation.I want to add that the Karndean flooring is such an excellent product. After 13 years, we have not had a single issue with the laminate. It holds it color and is incredibly more scratch resistant than any other flooring. I would highly recommend Kens Carpet and Kardean flooring to anyone who wants beautiful new floors in their home

My husband and I had the best experience with Ken’s carpet! Ken and his wife helped us pick out the most amazing Australian Wool carpet for our new bedroom in a price range we could afford! They made the entire process easy and did the installation as well which went perfectly. They have great customer service and made sure to even sent us rug care information on our new carpet. We received new carpeting throughout our home, and tile flooring in our master bath from Ken Walpole of Kens Carpets. The carpet that we chose was a Berber in a gray color, mixed with brown, which shows very well in our home. Additionally our bathroom, which has an oyster color in Karndean flooring, is quite beautiful and very professionally installed, like our carpeting. The price for the entire job was fair, and we will do business again with Ken, when needed.

Ken and team were excellent to work with! We had a wooden staircase and were looking to add a runner. Kens Carpets had so many carpet options to choose from! I didnt know quite what look I was going for upon arrival, but quickly became inspired by the animal prints and ultimately chose the leopard print pictured - it appears a subtle grey from afar, but has some great detail (and even a little sparkle) up close. Jose did a great job with installation - a true craftsman with his attention to detail (check out the binding). He even made an accommodation for a last-minute executive meeting I was leading from my home and took a break during that time. Im thrilled with the end result, Ken and teams expertise in the space, and their warmth throughout the process.

My new flooring is a stunning show stopper! I chose a warm ash plank and the transformation to my home is more than I expected. I had several types of flooring with transitions and now it isone flooring with seamless transitions. Ken and his team were professional, timely and addressed all my questions and concerns. Ive known Ken for years and remember when he ventured out on his own to open his own carpet business. I knew if we ever needed carpet we would give him a call. This was the year we finally decided to upgrade our carpet and Ken recommended a high quality nylon carpet and it looks fantastic. The Installation was done very professionally and were very pleased. Ken and his staff did a terrific job for us; Ann, our sales professional and Ken were delightful and impressive, thorough professionals, In fact,we met several knowledgeable and talented carpet professionals whom we really liked, however they just couldnt couldnt come up with the pattern and color we were seeking. We were thrilled to discover that through their professional network, Kens Carpets were able to arrange for a special dye at a highly affordable added cost. The desired product match was perfect ...with a very professional installation and cleanup at our West Marin cabin (a location other vendors were not thrilled to service). Ken came out to measure in advance and with Ann following installation to ensure our satisfaction. We highly recommend this company and plan to start with them as we update aging carpets elsewhere.

We wanted new flooring but knew nothing. We needed to find someone we felt we could trust, someone who we wouldn’t feel was trying to upsell us to a higher cost product, someone we could feel knew their products, would help us find what fit our needs and then, install it without flaws. Boy did we luck out when we found Ken and his team. He was extraordinarily helpful, steering us to products that we had not know of before, he spent a lot of time explaining the differences between flooring and then made several suggestions that were on point. We hired them, his installers showed up when he said they would and they were extraordinary craftsmen, making the installation perfectly. The new flooring, a combination of a subtly patterned carpeting in our three bedrooms and a luxury vinyl plank made by Karndeen that Ken recommended, is stunning. We were amazed, our friends who came to look were amazed at the beauty, our next door neighbor who was in the final stages of negotiating for new flooring looked at ours and called Ken, shifting his flooring business to Ken.If you’re thinking about new flooring, you must not pass by an opportunity to talk to Ken and his people about your needs. Kens carpet in san rafael is the most amazing store, has an incredible selection and both Ken and his wife Ann know everything there is to know about carpet !!!They helped me select the perfect carpet for my home that is beautiful and durable for my lifestyle which includes a number of different pets.Ken came out within a day to measure and found that wall to wall would not work for me BUT to my surprise Ken told me not to worry the carpet could but cut on site and bound in my home to fit each room !!!!!!!!!!! yeah KenJose` n crew showed up promptly when scheduled they are amazing talented craftsmen, worked non stop all day and got all of it finished in 1 day.Thank you allSherri

Let me start by saying I dont give many 5 star reviews however my experience with Kens carpet & Flooring was nothing but excellent.I was looking to replace the carpet in a rental unit, quickly, and not sure if I should go with carpet, wood floor, or a synthetic wood. Ken spent about an hour going through the pros and cons of each product. With his guidance I was able to make an informed decision and decided on a carpet material.I had a difficult time choosing color and it was the end of the day (at the start of a holiday weekend) but Ken offered to bring samples to the house so I could see what i liked. I was able to decide what I liked from that however because I was painting the interior of the house as well I was not sure about color combinations. Ken offered to go back to the store (that was closed now) and look at paint colors with me. He had a paint sample booklet to go through, a good eye for color combinations, and I was able to not only make a confident on the carpet, but with my painters.I told Ken I was in a hurry for installation and he was able to schedule me quickly. The installation went smoothly, and on time, and I am very happy with the outcome (including the paint colors he suggested).Note:1) Customer service was flawless2) Prices were great (extremely competitive)3)The information and advice I was given was sound and in my best interest.4) Not only does Ken run a great business, hes a pretty nice guy.5) I will be a return customer and highly recommend this business

From the moment I entered Kens Carpets, it was a good experience. The owner, Ken, greeted me at the counter and after a few questions began giving me a tutorial about carpet. This was my first time buying carpet and by the end of our discussion, I felt comfortable with the options and knew I was in the right place. We did a kitchen remodel a number of years ago and had Kens Carpets put in Karndean Luxury Vinyl planks. It has lasted so much better than wood and laminate flooring that friends have had put in. So recently we decided to update flooring all throughout the house. We put in more of that same flooring since we love it so much and carpeting in other areas. I didnt feel that I had too much of an idea of what I wanted in carpeting and wasnt really looking forward to picking it out. Ken is impressively knowledgeable and after talking about it a bit, I was absolutely floored (excuse the pun) when his first suggestion was perfect, a beautiful blend of dark and light elegance that was exactly what I didnt know I needed (called cracked pepper). The whole business cares a lot about the customer experience. Marcello and his crew of installers were very nice, extremely competent, and hard-working. They worked long days, but were very considerate of my husband working from home. I feel like we moved into a whole new home and we are happy to support a deserving local business that takes great pride in what they do. I highly recommend Kens Carpets.

My wife and I recommend Kens Carpets in San Rafael without hesitation. From initial inspection/measurements to final installation, Ken and his crew were superlative. They do what they say, when they say they will do it, and if there is *any* problem with your satisfaction they will make it right.A few years ago Kens installed a carpet and had to move a heavy, tall dining room buffet and accidentally chipped a small upper corner of an archway as they moved the piece out of the room (these things happen). Ken didnt hesitate to call in a repair crew who re-spackled and repainted the damaged wall. He simply told me, Its the right thing to do.Choose Kens Carpets. You will be happy you did the right thing the first time.

After listening to our project and searching his inventory, he did not see a harmonious match with other design elements. He uses his own installers so there is accountability in the process as well as a guarantee of workmanship. We purchased carpet from Kens for the third time in July, 2020. As with our previous two purchases, our recent experience left us very impressed with Kens Carpets. Our first two purchases/installations were completely easy and unremarkable (in the best possible way!) Our most recent order initially had a small hiccup, through no fault of Kens. But when the hiccup did emerge, thats when Kens excellent customer care came through for us. Ken bent over backward to fix the issue immediately to our complete satisfaction and at no cost to us. If you are in the market for new carpeting, I recommend contacting Kens Carpets and Flooring in San Rafael. Ken has decades of experience in the industry, and it shows. My wife and I bought our first home last month, and neither of us had ever purchased carpet before. When we walked into the showroom, Ken gave us a primer on the types of carpet that are out there and the pros/cons of each one. After the Carpets for Beginners class, he actually spent time figuring out what we really needed, based on how wed be using the carpet. He came to our house, took measurements himself, prepared a quote, and had everything ready to go exactly on schedule. We had to coordinate carpet installation with a number of other home improvements, and Kens punctuality made that much easier. But it was the in-home services was where we felt Kens Carpets really stood out. They removed the old carpet without a single scratch to the baseboards or newly-painted walls. And installation of the new carpet was FLAWLESS, especially on the staircase, where the three bottom stairs were rounded. All in all, an excellent experience and we are very happy with the new carpet- which is a good thing, since Im sitting on the carpet right now, trying to figure out which couch we should buy to go with it!

Tried to put new carpet In our house including stairs with a binder on the carpet so that 4 inches of wood showed on either side going down the stairs. Well the people in the big box store were helpful but they could not do the stairs with binding. I went to Ken’s Carpet, got excellent advice on the type and color of carpet from Ken himself and there was no problem with binding the carpet on the stairs. The three installers arrived on time, were very competent. The stairs look beautiful plus the price was very fair. Ken’s Carpet did all of this during Covid with the health restrictions permitting essential business. I would definitely use Ken’s Carpet again.❗️

I visited Kens Carpets & Flooring about 10 months ago to inquire about vinyl flooring for a bathroom in a family house not anywhere near the Bay Area. Ken took the time to show me the product line, describe the best choice for underlayment, helped me select a color/style, and advised me on ordering the flooring and underlayment from a local store near the job site. Very nice of Ken to spend the time helping me, knowing he wasnt selling me anything...just yet.Fast forward 8 months, my wife and I returned to Kens store to look at Karndean Design Flooring for our house in Marin County. Although we had read some mixed reviews of Karndean that made us nervous, Ken assured us that with proper installation and maintenance, the floor would be a great choice for our family. The floor was installed last week by Marcelo and his son, who are professional and highly skilled at their craft. The floor looks terrific, and we are thrilled with the choice. Just had a very educational and informative experience at Kens Carpet. I came in thinking I wanted wool carpet but wasnt sure why other than I liked my neighbors carpet. Ken took a LOT of time educating me on the different materials used for carpets and carpet pads, the pros and cons of each.....so helpful. Each of these gentlemen is an experienced professional with a strong work ethic, thoughtful approach to his work and his customers, awareness of and respect for customers needs, and a general positive and kind demeanor. We are longtime clients of Ken’s in addition to my parents and siblings. We have learned through experience that there’s no point in getting stressed out selecting flooring when you deal with Ken. Just let him help you and take his advice because he knows what he’s talking about. Recently we ask Ken for help selecting Karndean flooring For our kitchen and entryway. Previously we installed the same product throughout the upstairs. This product has withstood two large labs running, playing, skidding, and wiping out every single day without a scratch or dent. It was a no-brainer to choose the same brand (Karndean)for the kitchen. I struggled a little bit with the colors and sizing but Ken suggested we go with charcoal gray almost black, White trim and large diameter tile.After the installation was complete, my husband asked me to come downstairs to see the final product. I had been too scared to see it Before it was complete. So I avoided the kitchen for a few days. I walked gingerly down the stairs towards the kitchen and saw the landing area and this beautiful charcoal gray tile, and then burst into tears and ran the rest of the way down. Our kitchen is so beautiful now with the contrast between the wood cabinets and the flooring. It is the modern look I was seeking without knowing how to make it so. Our neighbors came over and went crazy for the flooring! I will never trust anyone else in the flooring business but him. Also his installer, Marcelo, is a true artist. The way he trims product, does the seams and lays out the pattern is just perfect. He has the gift of vision!

Next step was choosing color, style, etc. Without skipping a beat, Ken volunteered to come to my home with samples, which I truly appreciated. In fact, he came a couple of times. BTW, he has a great eye for color and style.Next, installation..was anxious, but need not have been. His team was excellent and professional. Am very happy with the color, style, and the installation of both the carpet and vinyl flooring. Ken and his staff are the best. Highly recommend!

I requested and received a quote from this company for carpeting. On the written quote that I received, they did not indicated the yardage required for the new carpet. I wanted to know so that I could compare it to competitive bids. When I called the company and asked for this information, the owner asked me why I wanted to know the yardage and I told him I wanted to be sure my bids all were for the same yardage. He refused to give me the measurement and literally hung up the phone. This is not what I would expect from a company that represents itself as a five-star vendor.

KENS CARPETS AND FLOORINGI called this company to get an estimate since I just found out that KARNDEAN LVP is one of the best LVP brand. So I went ahead searched online the closest retailer for this brand and reach out to this company. Spoke with Luke regarding what Im looking for, he asked me for my address and informed me that they dont service Concord or East Bay area. I asked him if I could purchase the flooring and I will hire someone to install and he said yes. Then he went about stating that they are premier provider for Karndean and will get back to me with an estimate just for the flooring itself. 6 days later and not heard from him or anyone at his company. I sent him a copy of an estimate from a different company just to get the correct square footage of the house. Disappointing!! Dont worry contacting me now.... Im no longer interested dealing with your company. Most companies will try to reach out after the fact, when you give them negative reviews.

I had carpeting in a guest room, that was 21 years old & lookingvery worn. I had a 24 hour period that I was going to be home, & the guests were gone. The crew was here by 8:30 that morning, & gone before 11. The room loos so much better, and this one should last as long as I do.
