2024-05-07 01:11:06Their Carne Asada taco is among the best Ive had, with high quality fairly tender beef thats been properly marinated and grilled. Its served on an especially tasty type of corn tortilla topped with the usual cilantro and onions (not enough, so ask for extra) along with a mild red salsa and guacamole. Its costly owing to the high quality beef at $6.99, but worth it IMO. I asked for chips and salsa, and was charged around $4.60 for a huge pile of chip and about 8 ounces of their mild red salsa. Maybe ask for just a small side of them. They also have an excellent selection of house-made salsa tubs to go, including all the traditional types, plus some unique creamy and cheesy versions.

When I sat in my car and read through it, it said Youre in for a treat. And they were right!I got the best rolled tacos - the spicy beef variety. They handmade them right there using super high-quality ingredients. I cannot recommend this place enough. This is an amazing spot that Im so glad I discovered. Do yourself a favor and check it out!

2024-06-22 18:24:37Had Kennedys cater my work. Not impressed. Stopped by with my daughter for lunch and it was pretty good. Went today for a burrito and 👎. Beans were hard and very little meat. For a $16 burrito its totally not worth it. My family and I will not be going back.

2022-06-12 06:39:47This was the first time to trying Kennedys Meat Co. Also first time trying the dinning menu. We ordered the carne asada burrito and the carnitas burrito bowl along with chips and guacamole. The food was really good the salsa was flavorful although the hottest they had was still not hot enough. They seemed to use high quality ingredients. They also offer pinto and black beans, Spanish and poblano rice. I cant wait for them to open their new location in Temecula which is a lot closer to my home.

2024-06-12 00:08:01I just bought two boneless rib eyes for $46, and I couldnt chew most of it. I tried calling but no answer. I bought four New York 13 something a pound and they were nice and tender. Go figure.

2024-06-16 19:31:10Great meat and great food but the older lady working the front counter is always EXTREMELY rude and short with people. Honestly if the food wasn’t as good as it is I’d probably never come back because of this lady.

2019-04-21 19:33:56Dont come here thinking youre gonna get this HUGE burrito that you wont be able to finish or youre gonna share with someone. It appeared I was the 1st person to order and when I saw them slap the meat on the grill i saw the small portion of meat and knew this was definitely gonna be a small burrito for $10.76. I should have said No to rice inside the burrito it seems to make up most of what I had. I shared half of this with my 9 yr old son who asked if this was a rice burrito. Definitely not worth a drive up from San Diego unless youre gonna come up buy some meat and make burritos yourself. Wanted to give this place a try since I saw competitive food challenge eater Randy Santel here on one of his YouTube videos. Well been here now. No kids menu. There is a restroom here. Wheelchair accessible. Lots of parking. Clean. Order was taken at the register near the front door and not where the food order was picked up.

2019-09-01 15:51:20You dont expect a man named Jesus Soto to open a Mexican convenience store and call it Kennedys Market, but this is exactly what he did in 1972 in the small Imperial Valley town of Heber, CA. And, yes, it *is* actually named after JFK(!!), a person whom Mr. Soto was apparently a huge fan of.For a store with an Irish surname serving a Mexican community to not only last for nearly 50 years, but to spawn three additional stores (two of which are in San Diego County), Soto and his family had to be more than lucky, they needed their store to be unique and phenomenal. Their niche became selling premium meats, and offering cooked products in their stores using those meats. Serving multiple generations of customers, they have become one of the most well-respected purveyors of carne asada in Southern California.During my recent visit to their Escondido location, I ordered Kennedys legendary Carne Asada Taco. The secret to their carne asada is the meat itself. They use USDA Choice Flap Meat that has been marinated and sizzled perfectly over a grill so that its edges taste of fire, and its center tastes of tender beef. And, yes, $4.99 for a carne asada taco in a fast food restaurant is steep, but its the quality of the meat that youre paying for. This taco tastes like it contains an actual steak Id eat outside of a taco versus whatever were calling carne asada everywhere else. The taco is topped with pico de gallo and guacamole, and served on a plate with corn tortilla chips and spicy salsa de queso. The complimentary queso sauce may seem a bit unusual, but you want the queso, trust me. Its unlike any queso Ive ever had -- its essentially an alfredo sauce made with a creamy combination of melted Oaxacan and Monterrey cheeses spiked with jalapeño. To top the taco, I like their jalapeño salsa, which is filled with heat without being overwhelmingly so, and seasoned with an abundance of cumin and salt. When I checked in with Yelp, I noticed they offered a Barbacoa Fries check-in deal for $3.99, saving $6. Im not a guy who enjoys smothered French fries, but these are different. These are hearty, thick fries with silky insides and crunchy battered skin that are smothered in their carne deshebrada -- essentially juicy, fatty braised beef -- as well as the aforementioned queso. So, to recount... for less than $10, I walked out of Kennedys entirely stuffed with: 1) chips with queso, 2) a hearty order of ultra-thick crispy fries topped with shredded beef and cheese sauce, and 3) the best carne asada taco in San Diego. While not the absolute cheapest dinner Ive eaten, what made this a steal of a meal was the quality of the food served in this immaculately clean, spacious, and well-organized store.

2019-09-26 02:56:53This place is new to us. And only found out because my co worker saw an advertisement on a special huge burrito for 10 bucks on there facebook page! Sadly they were all out of Carna Asada. But offered us the Chorizo instead. A few bites and we were full! We cant wait to go back and try there other foods. They had plenty of parking spots. Easy to find the location from the main street. What makes this place unique that its a meat market as well. Pretty known to all the local people of Escondido. Very clean, brightly lit location. The staff and cooks were extremely friendly. Overall a cozy and great price experience. As a matter of fact. I am going to eat some more of this burrito! I love these hidden gems in these cities. Bravo Kennedys! Bravo!
