Our family’s first time enrolling our child to a Taekwondo class and we feel so blessed to be apart of such an amazing atmosphere located right in our beautiful community of Elk Grove. Master Kang and his entire staff are so warm and welcoming. My child feels absolutely at home, gets to run around barefoot, and looks forward to each and every class. Yes I can attitude, trying new things, listening the first time, how to deal with bullies, self confidence, and respect are some of the examples of the knowledge my child is continuously gaining from attending Taekwondo with Master Kang. Exciting, rewarding, challenging, personal growth, positive attitudes, learning how to follow directions, a fun vibe. Yes I highly recommend this class for all children.

I was looking for a martial arts place to take my 6 year old son, Andrew. I first checked out premier in Elk Grove because they were closer to me. Just by observing the instructors there, I was not a fan. I decided to check out Kang’s Taekwondo in Elk Grove, further from me, however my nieces and nephews also goes there. Instantly this place was a lot better. The place is nice, clean, and Master Kang was not only nice but funny. He makes taekwondo fun to a certain extent. You’re here to learn and train so that’s very important but he makes jokes to make the kids laugh so they can pay attention and follow directions. I also like how he has all of his staff/instructors to help out with the kids as well. Each and every one of them are nice and respectful. I highly recommend this place!

Love Kang’s in Elk Grove! My son has been going here for about 6 months. Master Kang is the master of tough love - he holds the kids to a high standard of behavior but is never harsh. Lots of little incentives - stripes, belts, good behavior cards - so it’s great for kids who thrive on reward systems. It’s also highly entertaining for parents of younger kids!

We started taking our son to KANG Taekwondo about a year ago. He started during the pandemic and the school took great precautions and protocols to keep the kids and staff safe. I felt very comfortable taking my son here. At the beginning my son was shy, so he doesn’t always participate in the activities and Master Kang was phenomenal. He worked with me on how we improve the situation. Master Kang is patience and kind towards the students. He lead the kids with great examples. At the beginning of the class he teaches the kids respect & self discipline and he ends the class with positive star notes. During the class time he is very hands on with the students and his staff are awesome as well. Everyone is just so great with the kids. We are lucky to landed such great place with amazing people!

My daughter and son just started their free trial last week and I can already say that I love Master Kangs method of teaching. He is very respectful, funny but also disciplined at the same time. My kids already have so much great things to say! You can tell Master Kang and his staffs put best interests and safety for their students. We had trained with different schools before but there was always lack of something. However we can see a long term commitment with Master Kangs ATA academy. Highly recommended!

My son has autism and I initially signed him up because of the class structure. He does well with routine. I called Master Kang ahead of time and he advised that he works with children of all levels. Since starting, I’ve seen great improvement in my son’s patience and confidence. And of course, he loves being able to do cool martial arts moves! Master Kang integrates good values such as respect and courtesy into the training. The entire team is amazing and always patient with my son. I’m so grateful and look forward to seeing what he achieves in the years ahead.

We enrolled our two daughters last year and they absolutely love it. We hoped to help our kids build their confidence and to be able to stand up and defend themselves. Master Kang has been consistently implementing techniques in his training to do that. It’s also nice to see so many black belt instructors in class to help the kids stay organized.

Shes now six years only and has a level of confidence, respect for others, and attainment towards goals that she has learned over time through instruction from this curriculum. The level of attention each child receives is impressive. Master Kang has done an exceptional job in encouraging interaction and participation by all students. Our son has been attending Kangs ATA since he was 5 or 6 years old and earned his black belt. The key word being earned and not just given. The experiences he has gained exceed that of just learning martial arts. The core curriculum here includes building self confidence, respect for everyone, getting good grades in school, establishing goals and living a better life. Master Kang takes the time to learn the needs of every student and works with the families on any behavior or school issues (he helped us for sure). Bottom line is, the instructors CARE about each and every student and it is evident in the way they interact during class. Kangs ATA has exceeded all of our expectations and I could not recommend them more as they are an outstanding, family run business.

Weve been taking self-defense class at Kangs ATA for about 3 years, and my child loves it! She loves all the other kids in class. Master Kang is very professional, always maintain good communication and positive attitude! He has a lot of experience working with kids, and understands how to engage them with different activities to keep them interested and learning. My child always has a good time learning new techniques and all the assistants on the floor are very supportive in guiding and helping the younger kids with their forms. Also, during the pandemic, Master Kang constantly sends out communication to his students/parents about class updates, new safety protocols. We really appreciate all his efforts in making those awesome videos for his students to practice tae kwan do while everyone is staying at home. Master Kang and Chief Master Kang have been instrumental in helping increase my sons confidence and social skills. He is no longer shy and timid. My older son (now in high school) also attended for 3 years and he greatly benefited from Kangs ATA style of teaching also. My younger son loves attending both the in person and online academy. Theyve implemented strong safety measures for the in-person classes due to the pandemic. Everyone is very kind, extremely helpful and they keep the class room very clean. Master Kang is an awesome instructor. My son has been going here since he was 5 years old. He is now 11 and a 2nd degree black belt! He has loved going here since he started and is still going. He never complained or got bored because ATA made the class fun but what can we say about Master Kang and the whole ATA family? Everything! They are really friendly, caring, loving and compassionate about their students and ATA. They teach kids not only how to defend themselves but also respect and discipline. I joined Kangs ATA as an adult student last year. I was completely new to the Taekwondo, and I felt immediately welcomed and encouraged by both Masters and fellow students. Master Kang is an awesome instructor. Not only does he make sure that all of his students are engaged in his classes, he takes time to speak with them and get to know them. If they are not behaving at home, he teaches them the importance of respect and responsibility. We are not able to attend his classes in person, but our kids truly love attending the classes via Zoom. I am truly grateful for his classes, and more importantly, his influence to our children.

I never expected to achieve a black belt, especially as an adult. I started Taekwondo at Master Kangs school summer of 2019 and I wasnt sure how to feel about it at first because I was already an adult. However, master Kang and other students have made me feel so comfortable the moment I joined the class. There were only teens and adults in the classes that I attended. My fitness journey has improved and so was my mental health. My nephews who are now 9 and 5 years old also love it. I recommend Kang Taekwondo for adults and children alike.

My twins love it at Kang’s! We have been students for over 5 years and they are still enthusiastic about coming here. The school is so clean and smells so good all the time.When the lockdown happened, we were so impressed with their immediate response on how to keep all the students attend classes safely in-person and online. I was about a four to five years student at Kangs ATA before Covid and they had great service while I was there. Kang Taekwondo is the best! My oldest started at Kang’s at the age of 5 and earned his 2nd degree black belt. My second child is working towards his 1st degree black belt and my youngest is working on getting her camo belt. We have been at Kang’s for a total of 7/8 years now and happy that we did! Chief Master Kang, Master Kang along with the student instructors and staff are such wonderful and awesome people. They treat everyone like family. Jaxon (4yrs old) has been going here for 6 months now and we love it! The staff is amazing, they all have so much patience for the the little ones and it’s been very entertaining to watch (esp dodgeball days!) I love that it is not your typical taekwondo place where kids just learn poses and the same type of movements. Master Kang teaches self defense, gives tips or tricks for real life situation. My favorite so far is if a stranger/attacker doesn’t let go of you and you’re stuck in their grip then to bite them because as a kid that’s something you don’t think about, most kids freeze or panic. Master Kang is amazing and he is very encouraging; my son is learning so much patience and focus. We have renewed for another 6 months and plan to continue for many more years! Jaxon loves the upbeat music selection too!

My son has loved his experience with Master Kang and Chief Master Kang. Self-defense class has taught him more about respect, determination and self-control. He set and met his goal of earning his black belt and continues to set new goals for himself. Master Kang and all the staff emphasize respect and put it into practice when interacting with the students and the parents. They have gone above and beyond in teaching Taekwando online during the quarantine. My son really enjoyed the youtube videos and the zoom sessions. May 2007 I took my son to Kang Taekwondo and enrolled him into classes. When I first entered the door I bowed. Master Kang asked me why I bowed and I stated I was a previous taekwondo student. Well a few months later I was back in class and working towards my black belt. Fourteen years later I am still at Kang Taekwondo and have reached so many goals thanks to the leadership provided by Chief Master Kang and Master Kang. Master Kang is a huge positive influence in our 7 year old sons life. Im usually skeptical when I see such high reviews on Google and Yelp but decided to give Kangs ATA a chance. Having been in the beginner program for about four months now, I can see why they receive such high ratings. Master Kang and his family treats everyone with the same respect that they expect out of their students.In addition to learning the art of Taekwondo, students are taught positive skills they can apply at school and in everyday life. Since joining, my son has shown tremendous improvement in his self-confidence, patience, self-control, and perseverance.With COVID-19 around, ATA continues to provide online (Zoom) and optional in-person classes. Chief Master Kang and Master Jay Kang have been a part of my sons development overall development. The father-and-son tandem teach these Taekwondo lessons to not only train the physical development of his body, but also install in my son a sense of self-confidence and mental toughness. He has not only overcome his shyness, but has become more assertive at home and in school. Chief Master Kang and Master Kang see to it that the children not only practice the Taekwondo ethos but more importantly, both regularly emphasize that the training goes hand- in -hand with academics and family life. In this hard times, Master Kang works hard to support and engage the students, to include conducting virtual classes to accommodate the rest. He is also cognizant of the risk, that is why the school has a robust system of limiting the number of students per class; requiring them to wear a mask at all times; checking their body temperature before coming in; having their own space on the mat; and, also having a generous supply of alcohol gel for the students use. There is always that risk, and as we struggle to find our normalcy, I am glad that Kangs ATA Self Defense is able to provide that sense of normalcy.

During this unprecedented pandemic, their practices and implementation of the safety and sanitation protocol are top-notch, which I am very impressed with. Since reopening at the end of June, I have observed that Kang’s studio complies with the Governor’s executive orders and guidelines to ensure the safety of all their students and staff. Optional attending in-person class in this studio is the only occasion I let my son outside the home without much concern about the risk of being exposed to COVID-19. I firmly believe that there is no other place that can compare to this studio’s safety protocol. For example, a few safety protocols they require include: safety screening check, enforcement of mask-wearing (mask provided), application of disinfection spray and wipes between classes, requiring the use of hand sanitizer at entry, and assigned training area by pods (8 feet, not 6 feet). I am so grateful for Kang’s Self Defense studio for providing a safe environment for students to stay active and motivated during this stressful time and assure that this is a welcoming place for people of all ages to learn the art of Taekwondo.

The best place to learn discipline, confidence, and the art of kicking and punching. I’d vouch a thousand times over that the people here, and the instructors, will change your life, and way of thinking entirely. It’s no understatement to say that I would have far less clear-headedness in my life if not for what I’ve been taught here.Having just turned 19, I suppose I’ve been coming here for seven years now. I’ve got to know plenty of people, and I’ve made many, many friends. And, while I’m a black belt, like many others, the sheer ability and skill of some of the other students will continuously wonder you no matter the length of time you attend. They always give a goal to strive toward, and that’s a gift in itself.
