Hands down the best in the business! Not only are they the most affordable (we had estimates from Baker, Stellar, Semper, and Coastal) but their customer service is amazing! Clinton, the owner, makes sure he’s on site for every installation. We’ve had some issues with the EP Cube battery, and Clinton has been very hands-on to help resolve it. Now my neighbors are also looking to use Johnson Solar for their homes. Highly recommend them!!

3/12/2024Johnson SolarIn April of 2023 we decided to look at having solar panels installed with battery back-up. We researched quite a few solar companies and finally settled on Johnson Solar.From day one of signing a contract, to the last day all items were completed with no complaints. Some minor glitches evolved and resolved in a timely manner.Everything from day one to completion, everyone was professional and pleasant to deal with. From the quote of what was contracted and with what we needed for our household solar installation.The crew that did the actual installation of solar panels performed it in one day, one day for battery backup once the battery received from the manufacturer.Clinton Johnson (owner) kept us informed from copies of blueprints, permits etc. and a schedule of when to expect workers. The response from Clinton when called was less than hour.Clinton and his employees were always very patient with us when we called with many questions.

May 2023: Bad experience with their roofing sub-contractor. Very poor communication from the roofer to schedule the job. They also chose a rainy day to do the job and left the job with half the shingles done. Water started leaking into the house and no help or response from the roofer/solar team until later to fix the damage. Solar itself was OK, but poor communication on when and what would be done. Wouldn’t work with them again!

A neighbor mentioned their positive experience with Johnson Solar. I had already shopped around a bit for rooftop solar and sure enough when I talked to Clinton at Johnson solar, he stood out as the most upfront and honest. I sent him my information, a few photos of my house, electrical panel and past utility bills so he could size an appropriate system. I was emailed a few system size options with quotes to choose from within a couple of days. There was no pressuring me, no things that did not sound right and no surprises. The prices looked great was in writing, and the type of panels and other components were very top quality. They were doing some large projects at the time but managed to squeeze me in somehow. Clinton and all his crew were great to have working at my house. The system was in within a few weeks time looks professional and is beyond my expectations. I recommend them to anyone looking into going solar.

Johnson Solar is hands down the best company out there! I cant begin to explain but, they deserve the best we can give back. Its really old school service and hard working employees. We called with a few questions and the next day Clinton was out first thing in the morning to give us a price and explain all the details. Within 24 hours our panels were in place running backwards in rabbit mode. Thats why I say old school service, thats the working ethics of yesteryear.Its so nice not to have to worry about what hours are the best to use electricity to keep the bill down. Electric car, air conditioners and all the rest, and the bill is still a negative (which is a positive for the pocketbook) balance. Its weird how they work so happily together.Thank you, so very much Clinton and staff for the elite craftsmanship, customer service and prompt working ethics. It has been 2.5 years since Johnson Solar installed my solar panel installation. During that time I have not paid a penny for electricity and have had a surplus owed at the end of each year that was carried forward. I have already saved half of what the system cost me. This system performance is based on 2 factors: 1. Clintons price was the most competitive I received, by a long shot. 2. More importantly, he installed a high quality system, did a fantastic installation with no external conduit and explained everything he was doing and why. And, I have not had to call him back. I cant say enough good things about my experience with Johnson Solar. The owner works with you specifically and not a hired salesman. I have had the solar system running for 6 months without any problem. You can see what you are generating at any time. My SDGE bills have been virtually non existent. I checked with others what they paid for their systems and Johnson came out as a bit less expensive; and the service and responsiveness was well worth it. Bottom line I recommend Johnson Solar to anyone out there!

Clinton was straight to the point with informative e-mails - no pushy sales pitch - and was timely with responses to our many questions. He gave us the time we needed to get other quotes and carefully make this big-ticket purchase. Clint from Johnson Solar was very easy to work with even with the mad crunch of everyone trying to get their solar installed before end of NEM 2.0. I have a very steep roof with lots of angles but we were able to get 17 panels up and theyre producing electricity quite well for about a month now. It was also supposed to rain heavy with 20 mile an hour winds the day of install so wanting to avoid injury Clint pushed it back to early the following week. Install was done within a day. Time will tell how the electricity via panels averages out as I have most facing south, but a few facing strictly east for morning sun, and west for afternoon sun. Just the way my roof had to accommodate the panels. At this point, can highly recommend Johnson Solar for your solar installation.

Had Johnson Solar install our solar panels about 18 months ago. Like the other reviews, we experienced great customer service, pricing, timely response to any questions we had and rapid turnaround. We recently had an issue with the inverter not communicating with Solar Edge. Although the system was working, we had no way of knowing what it was producing. On each occasion Clinton sent someone or came by himself, to check out and resolve the issue. If youre considering getting solar, give Clinton a call. You wont be disappointed.

Clinton was the first solar company we contacted but he recommended we get a few more quotes before we made our decision. After meeting with a few other companies it was clear that Clinton beat the competition in price and in completion of the project, we were up and running in 3 weeks, compared to the other companies that said it would be more like 3-6 months. Turns out he had installed solar for a couple of our neighbors and when I asked them for a review they had nothing but glowing remarks for Clinton. Johnson Solar just completed my solar panel Installation project about a week ago. The entire process from the quote to the system turn on was professional and efficient. They completed the project much quicker than the time frame that other companies quoted. They also use the latest technology and all at a very competitive price. I also had roofing work done at the same time and the roofing company that Clint (the owner) uses is also excellent. I do want to give a special thanks to Ross, the company rep in my area,for being patient with all my questions and for making sure the project went smoothly. Overall just a great experience. Johnson solar did a solar upgrade on my system and not only did a fantastic job, they added high quality high wattage panels and I cannot recommend Clinton or his company enough. They fit me into their busy schedule at the end of the year, and did a top notch job, so far I couldn’t be any happier. Clinton and his crew were very professional and upfront about the cost, installation process, & anything else that needed to be discussed. They installed a second set of solar panels for us and did not leave until they were done, despite how late it was getting. Clinton followed up afterwards to make sure everything was working for us, including the app that gives us information on how the panels are performing. I appreciate how responsive Clinton was in answering any questions I may have, even a 1.5 years after installation. Johnson Solar just completed my solar panel Installation project about two months ago.About nine years ago, I had a couple of estimates for installing solar panels on my roof. The average cost was approximately $24,000.00 for 20 panels.The price was too high for me, so I did not have the work done.Last May, my friend in Alpine had solar panels placed on his roof. I decided to check into having the work performed on my home.I checked with four different companies. The number of panels was from 11 to 15. The price was within $4,000.00 among the four companies bids.One of the companies was a referral from another friend of mine who had just recently had solar placed on his roof.That Company was Johnson Solar. They had the best panels, in my opinion and the best price. After talking to some of my neighbors, I determined that my panels are generating more KW than theirs are.From the quote to the system turn on, it was less than three weeks. It took one day for the installation, and you would never have known the crew were here. I did keep them well hydrated with water and Gatorade.Considering I am on a fixed retirement income, today was a joyful day when I received my SDGE bill in the mail. This bill was covered by 100% solar. The bill read, “No payment is due. Your account has a credit balance of” over one hundred dollars. (My words) My normal bill, this time of the year would have been between $200.00 and $300.00 for a 2000 square foot home.Overall this has been a huge positive investment. I would highly recommend Johnson Solar to anyone who wants to make that move to solar.I would award Johnson Solar five stars plus. Their work crews and office people are the best.

Clinton and his guys delivered exactly what was promised when I initially spoke with Clinton to receive a quote. His guys are professional, tidy, and easy to communicate with. Johnson solar added 6 panels to my existing 11 panel system. They got it done in about 4 hrs and waited until my envoy system read the new panels and verified each panel was outputting the promised wattage before taking off. A few days later we had heavy rain and no leaks. Also they were also the lowest bid and no gimmicks ( visa gift cards, ipad, etc). Had a great experience all around!

Other contractors could only complete the install between one to two months; Clint was able to install the NEXT week. Clint and his crew were polite, courteous, and efficient during the one-day install. I recently purchased an estate home in La Mesa and noticed that the gutters had not been maintained in a while, accumulating significant debris. Otherwise, the gutters were in good shape, so they just needed a good cleaning. I contacted a couple of firms to get the gutters cleaned. The first firm that came out wanted to sell me new gutters. I tried the Costco people ($$$), looked into Craigslist (no thanks) and even considered hiring people myself to install. In the end Im so glad I went with Johnson to install solar on 3 of my homes for a few reasons. Price was better than the rest and Clinton stands behind his work. I also liked that he finished much quicker than he said he would. The end product is awesome. He got me some of the best rated panels and the install was quick and clean. Johnson Solar installed 27 solar panels with micro-inverters on my roof. It was a great price and beat the lowest competition by over $3,000 dollars. Since the installation, about 4 years ago, I had no issues and I have been enjoying not giving any money to SDG&E. Johnson Solar beat all competitors by $4000. Not to mention, they installed my panels in 1 day and it only took 3 days until my service was turned on by SDG&E. I recommended them to all my neighbors and 2 of them also got their solar installed with the same fast installation and activated service by SDG&E. Two of my neighbors went with other companies and it took 6 weeks for their systems to get activated. So, I highly recommend them to everyone I talk too, because their service is top notch, which shouldnt shock me, because Mr. Johnson is a Navy Veteran.

Clinton saved me about $4000 on my rooftop solar install. I got estimates from the usual suspects that were all higher. I ordered my hardware and had it delivered on a Monday. My system was up and running by the following weekend! Clinton handled all the permits and coordinated the inspection process. He also installed an EV charging station in my garage. Clinton solar reroofed and installed solar panels cheaper than than the competition. Believe me I checked. Including both SolarSage and all the top rated San Diego Yelp results.Clinton is the real deal.I contacted him 11/11/20 and by 12/15/20, SDGE granted me a net metering agreement. Yes that is basically 1 month from my 1st contact with Clinton to me:- Spending a week getting other quotes equivalent to what Clinton proposed and realized he was beating the competition- To Clinton removing clay tile roof- To Clinton Installing new underlayment- To Clinton Reinstalling clay tile roof- To Clinton Installing 22 LG panels with microphase inverters *recessed in a low profile manner into the clay tiles*- To the project passing final SDGE inspection.He abided by my HOA rules and all was smooth and efficient. Johnson Solar did an excellent job upgrading my 10 year old solar system. I went from a 4.5kW system to a 11.2 kW system as our power needs had increased. They did the job in a single day and also worked with me to fix some roof damage they observed during the install. I would recommend using them for either a new install or an upgrade to an existing install. Im now looking at adding a energy storage system to my install and if I do I will certainly use Johnson Solar for the install.

Of the 10 or more installers I have interviewed Clinton was the ONLY person who was willing to itemize all the costs and let me pay for the materials. This way I paid Clinton for his time and I paid directly for the hardware. There were no surprises and the job was completed on time as promised. eMail and phone communications were clear and on time. After the job Clinton has been available to answer the few questions we had. I contacted Johnson Solar the owner came by and walked me through the steps and he went up on my roof and explained everything to me and his price quote was to good to pass up. From the day we signed to contract to the the final install was 8 days. We have had the system for 6 months now and we love it.

Highly recommend Johnson. Quick and to the point without all the added fees from door to door salesman or the wait that you get from the solar giants. We spoke with several companies and found Johnson through reviews the Nextdoor app. It was a no nonsense process. Only after getting a quote from Johnson did all the other companies start lowering their prices for the job which they still didn’t beat because Johnson was able to get the job done faster. It was a quick and easy process. They had the panels up and ready in a day& the permit came through within a week. We’ve had solar since 4/28 with no issues but any concern I’ve had Clinton has made himself available to walk me through them. Great customer service 10/10 would use them again.

They want to make sure youve done your researched, are able to shop other quotes, understanding the products that are being offered, then you can understand what youre comparing.Not only was Clintons quote extremely competitive, the kicker was, from date of contract signing to SDGE allowing us to turn on our solar was a whopping 10 days! That included, plans, San Diego County city approvals, HOA approvals (we rushed), product delivery, installation and SDGE inspections!We couldnt believe it. Most people I tell couldnt believe it. I found Johnson Solar through ProReferral.com. Wanted to have an attic gable fan and a garage fan installed. This was a minor job considering Johnson *Solar* is in the business of installing complete residential solar power systems but Clinton, the owner, responded within an hour of my ProReferral query to offer his services. Im a professional engineer in the defense industry and we were able to talk a lot of technical details. He is very knowledgeable and was more than happy to discuss various installation options. What I appreciated most was that he was very responsive to both email and text messaging ... Ive worked with other contractors who have been quite difficult to communicate with. His crew showed up as scheduled and were very efficient and courteous. At one point we worked together to figure out how the speed control worked on one of the fans ... great guys! While the job he performed for me was relatively minor, my positive interactions with him and his crew reflect very well on his business and work ethic. These guys are the real deal. I shopped around for about a year and talked to about half dozen installers. The thing that distinguished Johnson was that the owner, Clinton, called me back himself right away. Hes a straight shooter, no need for a slick folder of brochures, no need to BS or coax you. Youre talking to the owner and this guy is driven to get things done efficiently and well.Clinton was totally patient with me working on the design, willing to tweak things and make changes to make sure my wife would be happy with the look of the result. We ended up choosing the QCELL all-black cells so theyd nicer and sit narrower. Clinton never upsold me or pushed me on the cells, while competitors I felt like had some kind of skin in the game and would push me toward particular cells, maybe for their own reasons. He did strongly recommended the enphase microinverter system, and when I investigated a lot of people agree that its just got the nicest apps & software, and is the cheapest to maintain over the long term.The roofing crew and the electric/installer crew were both happy and efficient. To me thats always a good sign -- a happy, focused crew is faster and does better work. The roofers had a cheerful kind of assembly-line approach to moving around the concrete tiles, chatting and smiling. Same thing for the electric/installer crew. Everyone seemed like they had the lightbulbs on up there in the attic. Efficient and intelligent.I dont usually bother to write reviews, but this business is the real deal and I wish Clinton and Jose and Raphael and everyone involved nothing but the best of continued success. You wont regret working with any of them. Top notch.

There rates are super competitive, no BS, you pay them, they do work. I dont need to talk to people about stuff that is basic. We had our solar electricity system installed by Clint Johnson in September 2018. We purchased our mid-century modern home in May 2018. My wife and I were excited to start restoring the “Rockin’ H Ranch” to its 1961 glory. On the month that our SDGE electric bill climber to over $800 (GRRRR!!!) we decided it was time to bring the ranch into the 21 Century by going solar. After the installation of our system, the bill has virtually gone to zero!Clint spent two hours with us during our initial meeting to insure that we fully understood the available options in the solar market. Clint explained the difference between high end name brand panels and the more economical manufacturers, calculating kilowatts of power requirements, battery vs. no battery, etc. Clint provided the options and allowed us to make our decisions, no hype, no up-sell, no pressure, NO PROBLEM. The system was installed by Clint’s team of professionals in a very timely manner and it looks great. In addition to the solar system, Clint provided us with an updated electrical panel at about two thirds the cost of other electricians we received quotes from. Our turn-key system from Clint has proved to be economical and effective.One word of caution; make sure you are ready for action when you put Clint to work. From initial deposit to feeding electricity back to the grid for credit took about two weeks! To say that we are extremely pleased with Johnson Solar would be an understatement.

None the less, before I hired Andre I had my most demanding, frugal, detail oriented friend (who happens to be an engineer) put him through the wringer. I had the unfortunate event of my solar losing production. After attempting to get a hold of the installer I was informed they are out of state now and will subcontract the work.
