Johnson computer is very professional. I sent my laptop in with a detached battery connector from the motherboard, Jane and her husband did a quick diagnosis for me and then completed the repair work within a day. He took pride in his work and looked after every detail. The result is clean and professional. Highly recommend this repair shop to everybody, is hard to come by a place like this anymore.

Best Buy fed me so I came here and they the job easily. They helped me out a lot. Dont take anything to geek squad because the mess up everything and just say they cant do anything or its not there fault. Jane was super helpful. Check was $65 and data recovery was $300. I highly recommend this repair shop.

I am so grateful I found Jane at Johnsons computer. I initially took my laptop to add RAM or memory, whatever terminology it is. My laptop did not allow for any of that to happen, she explained what i could do. Then I ran into a real problem with being locked out of my desktop. Jane was able to extract all the files and saved me from a major problem with my company files. She tranfered all my files to a new laptop and saved my desktop from me tossing it to the computer graveyard.She is my official my go-to computer expert!

Jane was incredible. My 10 year old MacBook had a corrupted hard drive and she saved it — allowing me to retrieve the files. Nobody else could do anything about it and she saved the day. She’s super communicate and kind. Couldn’t be happier.

Jane is one of the nicest and most engaging people i’ve had the pleasure of meeting. after my laptop keyboard stopped responding and i took it to her, she was very honest and upfront with me about the likely problem (corrosion inside) and the cost, and even told me since i had found workarounds (bluetooth keyboard) and it was still serviceable, in her opinion it wouldn’t be worth the cost. i highly recommend anyone with tech issues come here for a consultation!

Jane was super responsive and helpful during my custom built computer diagnosis and repair. She kept me informed of every step of the process and was very thorough in her process.My windows failed to boot one day (Automatic System Repair didnt work as well), which originally seemed to be a Windows OS issue. However, after many hours of examining the issue, Jane found out that my primary M.2 SSD was failing intermittently. She worked her magic to recover ALL of my data on my SSD by a laborious process of heat-gunning the faulty SSD to achieve temporary access, while also disassembled my other two drives (from my motherboard, one of which was under a hefty GPU) to preserve their integrity during this diagnosis. I ended up buying a new replacement SSD which was shipped directly to her office; the entire process was transparent and smooth, and Janes only goal was to help me fix my situation and not offer me any unnecessary charges. Overall, given the amount of time she spent on my computer, her price was super fair considering the large amount of data I had.I later realized that I needed a clean OS install (to repair some corrupted file paths/links from the data recovery process), and Jane took that all on for me at no additional cost. She also gave me some useful pointers on best practices and desktop maintenance.I have the highest praises for her professionalism, attention to detail, thoroughness and availability throughout the entire process.(Side note, Jane also does USB flash drives data recovery)Could not recommend her enough!

Shop is really amazing and can fix pretty unfixable issues! I was not hopeful when our Lenovo Legion Y740 gaming laptop broke, it no longer turned on and when it crashed there was literally smoke and a very strong burning smell. Got the photos from the shop that the motherboard burned up pretty badly. So it is pretty amazing that the technician here actually was able to re-circuit (?) it and got it working! seeing no problems with it so far and got also advice on how to not overheat the laptop as well.Really glad to have found this place and to have checked with them despite thinking laptop was probably not salvageable.

I was looking for a place to fix my PS4 because my HDMI was not working, and I’ve had so many quotes and people turning me down because they don’t touch these things, but Jane from here was able to fix it for me and even replace my HDMI from the motherboard and solder a new one! And she did it very quickly and it started working as soon as she fixed it. Great service, very communicative, and highly recommend this place for a similar problem.

First visited Johnson Computer repair in 2001 with laptop issue,they were able to diagnose n quickly resolve issue at Avery fair cost. Over the years they have been my go to company as they have the expertise, professionalism and genuine concern for the customer. Today I had an issue with an MSI laptop port issue, met with Jane, who I originally worked with in 2021, she looked at unit and suggested a high speed hub for my application rather then a costly repair, THANK YOU JANE YOUR SUGGESTION WORKED N SAVED ME HUNDREDS OF $ that others suggested!!

I have to say, getting work done on a computer or car always feels like youre going to get scammed. I read reccomendations of this place online and I have to say, this place WAS really good. I was able to drop off my desktop for issues I thought were my PSU due to self diagnosis through research on my own. Turned out I was wrong and they were able to look into everything and gave me the correct diagnosis. Not only did they accurately assess my PC, they were able to complete repairs in LESS time than they quoted me. Im back to working (gaming) on my PC and it runs like its brand new. Super happy with this place and Im definitely using them if I cant fix anything else that pops up in the future. Johnson computers helped resolve two major issues with my ASUS ROG gaming laptop.The first was a very serious one. My laptop had a ripped off power connector and they fixed it the next day. I couldnt find any computer repair shop that could fix this serious problem, but Johnson Computers did and they did it perfectly. My laptop was able to charge once again.The second was changing the battery for my laptop. My laptop was suffering from battery/charging issues (charging was stuck at 0%). Jane Xiang and Johnson were very easy to communicate with and were very thorough in giving me a list of options of how they would carry out the repairs. I went with me buying a new battery in eBay and having them install it. I brought in my laptop the day after the delivery and they did the rest. After 2 hours, my laptop was like brand new, charging normally again.I would recommend Johnson Computers to anyone with any computer/laptop repairs that seem unfixable by mainstream repair places like Geek Squad. Jane and Johnson dive DEEP into the problems and fix them flawlessly. No other repair place does the work they do. Without their help I wouldve spent $2000 buying a new laptop. My 3-year-old Dell laptop suddenly stopped turning on on October 5th. I tried unplugging it several times but still no response. I googled computer repair shops near my area and Johnson Computer popped up, I read and compared reviews and finally I chose them and gave them a try. The next morning October 6th I called them as soon as they opened the store because I was desperate to have my laptop repaired. At first, I thought it was a power or battery problem, and I mentioned it to Jane, but she patiently told me that it was not necessarily the case, but they would help me check out the real problem as soon as possible and let me know. Jane was nice and understood my urgency and promised to check the laptop and get back to me within a day. I got a call from Jane late at night on October 6th and she told me that they had discovered a damaged motherboard. Before she called me I even thought it was past their business hours and she might not call me until tomorrow, but she did give me the answers she promised. I was happy and thought the laptop could be repaired and I could get it back the next day. Unfortunately, on October 7th, Jane called me again to say that they had discovered a black flash on the screen that caused me to not be able to see the screen even when the laptop was on. They connected the laptop through the monitor and confirmed that the screen was indeed experiencing the black flash issue. Jane suggested I replace the screen and gave me a quote before placing my order. I agreed and waited for the day the laptop would be repaired. Throughout the week Jane called me and gave me status updates and I knew they were taking care of me. As Jane told me, the screens will arrive on October 17th, so I figured Id hear her good news around that time. On October 18th Jane called me and I expected her to say Your laptop is done. But the bad news is that when they repaired the screen for me, they found that the back cover was cracked. The good news is that they were really careful and found the problem step by step. I took Janes advice purchased a new back cover and replaced it. The day finally came and my laptop was repaired due to a damaged motherboard, black screen, and cracked back cover. They also helped with running a tune-up on my laptop. Although it took me two weeks and a quite lot of money to repair my laptop this time, I think their service is really good and I am very grateful to them!

I highly recommend Johnson Computer! I called and spoke to Jane in the morning and she said I could bring my desktop computer right down. She was able to quickly diagnose the issue and we also talked about improving the processing speed on this older computer. She recommended installing a new/different hard drive and I also requested to increase the RAM. She was able to diagnose, repair, and improve my computer performance all in the same day! Went there because the camera/video of my laptop stopped working. Though there was a fee, for her to check it out, she let me know that it wasnt cost effective to repair it. But she did tell me about a low-cost remedy, which was to purchase a external camera. I was able to order one during Amazon Prime deals, and am looking forward to being able to use my computer instead of my work computer for online meetings! She was very quick in checking out my laptop and helpful in explaining my options.

I called many data recovery service company before I brought my laptop there. I debugged and tried many things myself but my laptop had a complex issue. I found some solution online but it requires a certain device. I called many stores. None of them actually know the device, but Jane is willing to listen and is willing to work with you to find out the solution. Other stores wouldnt even listen to what I was trying to describe.I also appreciate Johnson Computers policy on doing customers computers in the store. So you dont have to worry about they ship your devices here and there.Throughout the data recovery process. My computer needed a lot of repairs until it finally can work properly and the data could be retrieved. They did not give up half way. They spent more than a week keep trying fixing it until its working again. I would think other stores probably gave up already.

I really dont understand how this place got 5 stars. I was fooled by the reviews and came here instead. First they said the grand total parts and labor then they called and said its going to cost more. But didnt they already look at the laptop in person?? And when they handed me the laptop it looked like they just took it from another used computer. But why charge $300? Also beware they will take parts off your computer and clone your hard drive.

So my laptop broke down at the last minute and I had this big interview on zoom the next morning. Kept showing “No Bootable Device” error message, I tried running the Bios and fixing them myself But nothing was working. At this point I knew that the hard drive was damaged. It was already noon when I decided to call Jane as my last resort and explained the urgency. She was super friendly, professional and accommodating to my request. This was my first time getting a repair. They replaced the hard drive and installed windows 10 at a very reasonable price. Best of all I was able to pick up my computer the same evening. And she gave me best wishes for my upcoming interview which I passed and now I have a new job. Can’t thank you enough for your warm and friendly demeanor and quick resolve at a great price. I want to tell others about the outstanding service I received from Jane at Johnson Computers in Hayward. My older Dell PC Windows 10 system got corrupted while trying to install an update that kept failing to install. I followed the steps in the Windows update trouble shooter only to have the system crash and go into an unstoppable death loop. Since almost all computer stores and shops are closed during the shelter-in-place mandate, I was very concerned about getting any sort of help. I had heard about Jane, so I called and found out that she was open. She was able to take my computer that day and fix it in only a couple days. Her work included a large back-up of data, installing a new DVD drive, getting me replacement Microsoft Office software, cleaning out the CPU, and checking all my USB ports (one was dead). Jane kept me updated on her progress and asked a few pertinent questions about the restoration of my system, software, and data. Her price was very reasonable and she was very professional with her help and advice. She is very trustworthy and honest. She also followed a very safe protocol about handling the equipment. Jane is very good at what she does - which is fix computers. Broken screens, keyboards, motherboards - they do it all. When there is no fix she can save your data and many times thats the most important thing. Easy, and inexpensive diagnoses - then always clear communication of next steps and cost. Second time Jane has worked on my laptop. First time was my Sony, this time was my Dell.The Dell was under warranty but I needed to send it to Dell which would mean 5-10 days without my laptop which is critical for my work. I called the Microsoft store where i bought the laptop and after a lot of phone tag they pretty much said that they would need to send it to dell for repair, which is likely not true since Jane was able to diagnose and repair it easily.It cost me $35 for the diagnosis and an additional $100 for the repair and she got it back to me the same day!!bottom line service was good and fast and i would go back again and I highly recommend her/themBack again and delighted with Jane again. I tried to replace the hard drive on my laptop and accidentally bent a pin on a connector. I didn’t realize the cable was proprietary. Jayne did not have the cable in stock which is not a surprise but they were able to fix the bent pin and get me up and running the same day.My computer is critical to my business and each time I brought it in Jane fixed it quickly and at a reasonable rate. I would never trust my computer anywhere else. You shouldn’t either.

My PC crashed(blue screen), researched on Google and called Johnson Computer. I wasnt sure what to expect. Jane answered and said to bring my PC in for a diagnostic. They charged $35 to diagnose my computer (very fair especially when compared to competitors and was even refunded in the final bill).She had a quick turn around (one day), salvaged my data and reinstalled my required apps. I was going to pick it up st the end of the day but asked her to clean my computer so she needed one more day. Great work! Excellent customer service and good pricing. I had taken in my laptop because I accidentally spilled water on the keyboard and it wouldnt turn on. It is one of my favorite style laptops and I was really sad because they dont make the same model anymore. So I looked online to find a repair shop and luckily stumbled onto this place. Just when I thought all hope was gone, they were able to diagnose the issues and gave me an estimate of cost for repairs. Johnsons computer repair helped me out when I needed data recovery from my laptop. It seems like such a minor thing but when it happens, I was stuck and in a jam. Johnson also went ahead and cleaned my laptop as the inside of the laptop collects a lot of dust and adds to the heat build up. The service was very easy, and Jane at the front desk was helpful and accomodating. The price wasnt too bad for being something that is a specialty--they werent out to rip me off, so I thought it was quite fair. In fact, while I was there I found out that they repair cracked screens on cell phones. So I thought, what the heck, why live with a cracked screen for as long as I have been and just get it repaired. They were able to find the problem, give me a price, and get back to me the same day. The service is great. I found them to be very honest and upfront.Again, all these little things you think theyre minor and you just resign yourself to it, but finding Johnsons computer repair that handles all of these things is a great find and nice gem. My laptop wouldn’t turn on towards the end of the day around 4pm. I called this repair place and explained to them that I needed the files on the computer urgently because I had a fellowship application due the next night, and the files on my laptop were needed for the application. Jane, literally save my computer in less than 24 hours…I was using HPs tech support and they screwed up my computer to the point where they said I need to do a system restore, but what they FAILED to tell me was I needed to back up first. If you are looking for people to fix your laptop with a smile, without charging you a hefty amount, this is your place. I had a battery problem with my laptop, and some issued with my mouse pad. I took my Lenovo Thinkpad in to have the keyboard replaced. I didnt mention the ongoing battery problem Id been having as my research had shown it was most likely due to problems with Windows 10. My Hard Drive that I had for over 10 plus years stopped working. I had important documents and photos that I saved from my cell phone and camera. Spoke with Jane by phone about it and brought it in on Oct. 20th. Explained I am careful with my hard drive I suspect its the connection is broken that attaches to H/D itself. Hopeful the documents and more so the pictures can be recovered as I had photos of my dad whom passed away. She said she will let me know if she able to recover my data. Before the end of the same week. Jane contacted me and I brought over new H/D for her to transfer data over. And, Fri Oct 23, 2020 I was able to review the data. And my photos and other documents were recovered!

I love this place! So glad i found it. Iv taken my year-old laptop here twice, once for a broken fan and once for a virus. Jane who fixes the computers is extremely friendly and competent. This place is a lifesaver! I took my desktop in at 4:30 pm & they diagnosed it by 6 pm. 7 capacitors were bulging causing it to shutdown down the video. This problem had been occurring intermittently for over a year but had progressed to the point that it would only stay in for about 5 seconds. They replaced the capacitors & I had my computer back by 10 am the next morning.Jane called & told me what they found & they would replace the capacitors. She felt that would solve the problem but she was upfront & explained that if it didnt a new motherboard would be needed.I had already been told by 2 other techs that a new motherboard was needed but since the main programs I needed run on XP it wasnt a good option.She was the only one to mention the capacitors & it worked.Their prices are very reasonable. The work was great & turn around fantastic.If youre pulling your hair out because of computer glitches this is the place to go.

Honestly, I almost didnt recognize my laptop when I went to go pick it up. Thats how much of an amazing job Jane did! My lcd was done for and probably needed to do a whole screen replacement (the assembly was bent and the hinges shifted a bit) after my baby cousin fell on it. But since mine is a newer model, there was limited parts being sold online so she did her best to make it look like new.I was recommended by one of the geek squad agents since I didnt want to send my laptop to Texas like I was told cause you know... I dont really trust anyone messing with my laptop without me being there cause some people will literally swap out stuff to a crappier one and hoping that you wont noticed especially when you didnt asked for it to be tempered with. But, Im glad that I decided to trust Jane and she wowed me in return!As for the process, she kept me updated of what she will be doing and how much the parts will be. She gave me the total after examining it (she charges $35 by the way) and continued to follow up with me on whats available and how long itll take to be fixed. Jane was also willing to wait for me when they close at 6:30pm just to pick up my laptop even though I tried to let them know that Im fine with picking it up the next day. I dont think Ill ever stop feeling bad for keeping her in but I made sure to tip her generously for the labor and the inconvenience I caused.

Johnson Computer fixed my Dell desktop system in just a few hours and at a VERY reasonable price. I had shopped around and been given both higher prices and told it would take anywhere from 3 days to a week. I recently had a problem working with Photoshop on my lap-top, getting warnings about my graphics processor not being compatible. My computer would freeze after had worked on a few photo editing. I had to restart my computer to get Photoshop to work again. I took my laptop to Johnsons Computer for a consultation. Had a good experience working with Jane and her staff.My problem was i had a corrupt laptop and couldnt retrieve my data in my hardrive. This is why we should support small businesses: My computer stopped working on Christmas eve and I had no idea what I would do since I use my computer for my business as an Independent Travel agent. I took my computer to 2 other places the day after Christmas (Dec 26th). The 1st place (a major retailer) said I needed a power cord and a battery (I needed to call HP to order it). The second place stated the power source was damaged but they could not repair it until January 4th. I looked up computer repair on the web and decided to call Johnsons computer in Hayward and spoke with Jane. She was very nice and told me that she could look at my computer and if she had the part she would be able to fix it. Bottom line- she was nice in person, she identified the problem, she fixed it and I am very pleased. Lets support small businesses. The big retailer that had given me the wrong diagnosis later told me (because I had to go back and return the power cord) that they would have had to send the computer out to someone. Just get your money ready, theyll first charge you $35, but if anything else is wrong with your computer they will charge you extra, but will deduct $35 since you paid $35 already. It was worth it. I believe that their service was too expensive. My concern about my computer was the error message, no bootable drive found. From what I could tell, they mostly replaced Windows 11 back to Windows 10. This cost me $460. Not being a computer expert I am not certain that I was charged too much, but I believe that was.

The DC jack on my Samsung laptop failed causing it to not power up after the battery died. I feared the worst as reviews on Samsung customer support werent good at all. So, I decided to search locally for reputable repair facilities and found just the right one with Johnson Computer. All the reviews I read had nothing but praise for this business so I thought Id give it a try. I called and was told that the problem could be fixed in just a few hours and to bring the laptop in. True to their word the DC jack was replaced in just a few hours and my laptop is now working perfectly. What impressed me the most was 1) their can-do attitude and 2) when I arrived at their office to pick the laptop up they didnt charge me anything or discuss the bill (which was a very reasonable rate by the way) until I had an opportunity to go back in their shop and view the finished task. Thus, I was able to make sure they actually performed the service and that my laptop was in fact working.This was a great experience all the way around and should I have problems with any of my other computer equipment Johnson Computer will be my first call.

This is the ONLY place in Bay area/Silicon Valley that actually tests and replaces motherboard components as opposed to replacing the entire motherboard. Fixed my annoying 2016 Razer Blade no backlight problem (capacitors) in 1 business day for a reasonable amount - all things considered. I broke my USB stick. I am a small business owner and everything relevant to my business was on that stick. I had only a few items backed up on my computer and this was very devastating. I checked the reviews on Yelp and found Johnson Computers had 5 stars from all its customers. I took my USB stick to them and Jane told me it might be too damaged to fix but she would do her best. Later that evening she called to tell me she had retrieved all of the data. I was thrilled. I took another USB stick to her and all the data from the damaged one was transferred. I took my Nas drive to Johnson Computer for repair as it would not turn on after it did not survive a power outage. I was told they could repair it but their technician who they were sponsoring from China had to go back and therefore it would take some time. I decided not to wait and asked for my unit back so that I may take it else where. I took it elsewhere and I was told, it doesnt turn on because the Power Supply section is missing. Johnson Computer Repair did not give me back my unit in the same condition in which I gave it to them. First a word of advice. Backup your data in more than one place! Especially if your one place is a 15+ year old external hard drive. Get yourself a secondary storage device or use one of the many cloud storage services available. Itll be cheaper than trying to recover data if your storage device decides to take a giant dump, gets burned in a fire or chewed on by a teething puppy.If you dont follow this advice and your device gives up the ghost go to Johnson Computer. They were able to deal with my crashed hard drive in a prompt manner and were transparent on their pricing.

My MacBook was stuck after login. I called apple support and tried everything under their instruction, but didnt work. Apple refer me to an authorized repair center mobil kangaroo. At first they told me it was software problem and fixed it, but it only worked for one week, the problem showed up again. My hard drive failed in the middle of copying a file and my computer couldn’t recognize it anymore.
