Great experience for a Saturday. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Something for everything from stuff characters and animals to quirky items. Didnt see a lot of Hello Kitty items. Lots of plushies/squishies. Street parking only, La Brea can be challenging. Recommend.

My children had a BALL!! There was a plethora of products. We were inside for over 30 minutes! The price range was from low to high. They had everything from Sanrio, to Sailor Moon & Demon Slayer! Their selection of items was varied and the staff was very nice! Well definitely visit again.

This place is amazeballs. My daughter kept saying how everything inside was adorable and if I didnt stop her she wouldve bought the whole store. She found unique shirts shes going to wear for the first week of school. Plus we got selfies with a thing Im not 100% sure who it is supposed to be, but it was cool. Highly recommend checking this place out.

Small place, the workers are amazing! Mostly Hello kitty theme but i got a adorable Sakura Miku figure from there for $32! its very high quality and amazing! They are closed on weekdays and only opened on the weekends. But i love this place a lot! would definitely come back here!

I visited Vintage Toy Haven to find a rare vintage action figure, and I was pleasantly surprised. The staff went above and beyond, helping me search through their extensive collection. Their knowledge and enthusiasm were exceptional. The quality of their vintage toys is outstanding. I found the action figure I was looking for in impeccable condition. They take great care in curating their selection, ensuring that every item is in top-notch shape. While vintage toys can be pricey, I was pleased with the competitive pricing at Vintage Toy Haven. I went inside to shop last Sunday. I was greeted by the sweetest employee ever, unfortunately I didn’t get her name. She told me about the great deals in store, helped me look for items, and just pleasant overall. The store is super cute and well organized. The prices can’t be beat. The environment is great, everyone is nice!! I can’t wait to come back and continue to shop more.

Coolest little things we met pompompurin the lab, great for gifts and distract tired kiddos during long walksWe were greeted promptly by the lady at the counter (Saturday noon June 10) she was very friendly and took her time with an anxious and fidgeting 6 year old explaining ton of stuff . A really large variety of various Sanrio, San-X, Pusheen characters. Some items are a bit expensive but its to be expected as they are pretty specific wares. The staff kept a close eye on everyone coming in an out, and also kept everything well organized.

Huge selection of clothing, toys and items that are totally adorable. You can find things from Ghibli, pusheen, gudetama and other sanrio brand here. Only downside is everything is a bit overpriced .

Very nice store with lots of great merch for brands like Sanrio, Rilakuma, Sailor Moon, etc. Lots of the small items didnt have prices on them which made it a little hard to choose. Lots of variety and their shirts are both plus-size friendly and very nice qualityWent for a character event and the staff was amazing even with a lot of overcrowding in the store. They did a great job trying to guide people, checking them out, and helping with products, which helped a lot because being in crowded stores can be really stressful!I would recommend both for shopping and for events

Super cute little business and I came here based on their Pusheen and Totoro items. If youre a Pusheen collector like me, youll notice the prices of Pusheen are overpriced but its a super cute place. Was disappointed that this shop is located in such a dingy area of L.A., could not have rushed back to the car fast enough. Bf was disappointed a Japanese shop barely stocked any Sailor Moon items. And good luck finding a parking spot. Its a real shame, I was looking forward to visiting after their spam of emails they send every week. Bummer!

Plusheen, Uglydolls, Hello Kitty, Pokemon, Star Wars, Studio Gibli. Plushees, toys, DVDs, super cute Kawaii tees and tops, blouses, skirts and panties to die for, lunch boxes, key chains. I just got back from Japan LA, and had to restrain myself from spending too much since it has killer deals on so much cute stuff. I especially loved the Studio Gibli pop up and the My Neighbor Totoro keychain and coin purse. The staff are very sweet/helpful and parking is conveniently located near a ton of other cute stores! Will definitely be coming back here!!!

The cutest store Ive ever entered! I could spend Days and Days in there. The people were so sweet, and the music was eclectic but so fitting! I struggled choosing between so many adorable items, and if I werent budget conscious, I would have spent the remainder of my funds in there. I love this place!!! They have the best customer service! Everyone is so helpful and honest which is a plus! Sadly they only open for in person sales on Saturdays :/I took my daughters on a Saturday when they had one of the characters and they had a blast! Spent lots of $$$ but for what I got it was well worth it.

Ordered a few items. One was defective. Reached out and they agreed to replace the damaged item. AFTER they got it back they told me they decided it wasnt damaged and are now refusing to refund me or ship out the replacement they agreed to send. Scam artists, bait and switch, dishonest, etc. Stay away, they are over priced and slow to ship anyway.Currently fighting with them through PayPal. Classy guys.

I finally got to shop in the store since covid, happened so glad it finally opened I got to meet cinnamoroll and the merchandise was everything I was dreaming about it was so cool. Ive always enjoyed coming to this store whenever I go to Melrose even if it was just to browse around.Its the ultimate store of cute.Ive bought things that ranged from food erasers, to cool Camilla DErrico shirts to wallets. Fun to walk around and touch many cute and plushy things! :)Really cool collaborative shows too. Check it out!

A nice splinter from the bigger store they have in Little Tokyo. The store is spacious, well organized and laid out. A heavy emphasis on cute culture here, but Im weak to it, and got my hands on some soft bois. The woman working there was very friendly and easy to talk to about the items.

The one lady who worked there was very friendly but I hate how little stuffed animals cost so much money. Im broke, my family doesn’t have a lot and to get a tiny stuffed toy cat for 18$ is ridiculous. You can easily find the same products online for half the price. Not only that but including this shop and many others, parking is so filled. My mother parked behind the shop “1 hour parking from 8am to 11pm” we got there ar 1pm and stayed for about 15 minutes, walked back to the car and got a 73$ fine. Even though, acording to the sign, it looked safe to park there. So if your impatient and broke like me, don’t spend hours looking for a maybe safe place to park, then get ripped off on unnecessary overpriced items.

First off, my rating is for the service, not the product. Their wide range and plentiful selection of items are great, however, their staff is lacking in many ways. I was not greeted when I entered the store. The store was silent except for the low volume background music. My friend and I felt uncomfortable, as if we werent allowed to speak in there. As we wandered the store, we happened to find the small gallery in the back (super kawaii food art was on display still). I felt awkward going back there because no one told us we could go back there. The two employees were silent. They did not ask us if we needed help, did not ask if we were looking for a particular item (which I was), and we were never treated friendly or with a smile. This store is filled with everything cute and characters that I love, and its so sad that such an adorable store is run by people with ugly attitudes. That is not kawaii at all, Japan LA. Ive ordered from this store online, and purchased from them at their booth at Anime Expo 1015 and 2016. Im extremely disappointed with their in-store customer service. I follow the store on social media and Im on the email list. This was my first time visiting the store and I dont think Im going back.

Nice little store on Melrose that sells Japanese Toys and themed clothing, such as Hello Kitty along with things similar to that. Brought my sisters here for the Totoro items they had for sale. Overall it is a quaint little store with good customer service. FYI parking could be a bit of a hassle to find on the weekend. But during the weekday it is much easier.

Very misleading. the pictures are of the old melrose location and it makes it seem like there is a storefront when there is not. we were so looking forward to looking around in the store but when we arrived it says online shopping only. more people walked up and tried to enter the store while we were outside, it seems like no one knows it’s online only.

I ordered a Rilakkuma plush from the website and was expecting it to come in three weeks time from when I ordered it, as I live in Canada and the estimate was August 8th for the order to be delivered. I also expected to pay money in customs upon delivery. Luckily, as their website says, my order was being packaged and ready to ship within a day or two, and had shipped from LA within three days. I got my order in just over a week after shipment as it remained at customs for a bit, and I didnt even end up paying customs upon delivery. The item I got is a bit smaller than it looked online, but I still love it. Really great company too, when I was curious of information about shipment or customs, I received a call from a representative within a day. Will order again soon for sure.

Ive been here twice now, and Ive loved it both times! Both times Ive gone, Ive been welcomed by staff and am able to look around freely. Theres loads of cute things and mascots, from Sanrio to San-X characters, including Toki Doki and Pusheen. Theres an incredible amount of plushies, and they have plenty of accesories. I love seeing all the Rilakkuma stuff they have, and I have bought something everytime. Ive also ordered from their website a few times, which arrived either on time, or earlier than expected!

Honestly I so want to give this place 5 stars, I really do. They used to sell legit Pokémon merch here at pretty amazing prices for Japanese imports, even compared to eBay (and having friends ship from Japan itself) but they pulled all the Pokémon stuff a while back and I seriously could not be more disappointed. That merch was killer and Id trade it for Hello Kitty or Rilakkuma any day of the week. They did start selling Pusheen merch though which, while cute, you can buy at Barnes and Nobles and is literally made by Gund and not Japanese (they dont even ship Pusheen Box to Japan yet from what Ive heard...) despite how it may look. I love you guys but please bring back UFO catcher prizes and stuff like that because the last time I was here was kind of a bummer tbh

Since the initial offerings and beginnings they had around the corner, it feels like they are offering less with more. It doesnt have the same feeling as the smaller, more intimate store, and doesnt seem to offer as unique products as it used to. We will still check back in from time to time, but it seems to have lost its lure.

Today was suppose to be a special day. 20th anniversary of Pokémon and people were hyped to go. Waited in a line that stretched around two corners of a block for 4 hours and was rejected from entering the store at 10:20pm. Im not rating them poorly for the quality of their merchandise. Im rating them poorly for not extending the hours for what was suppose to be a celebration of 20 years of Pokémon and shoving off hundreds of dedicated Pokémon lovers. They should have anticipated that amount of fans to come wait in line from the beginning or at least cut the line and tell people to leave before it closed. The bouncer should have walked down and started telling people to leave 30 minutes before the store closed. Instead, fans are outraged when the bouncer annouces the store can not extended their hours to accommodate the the long line of fans who have waited as long as I have. Sadly, I was not able to reach the the final corner and I wont be able to come back because of school and that I leave far from LA. Maybe next year on Pokemons 21st anniversary the store can be more efficient and less Pokémon fans will be turned away.

Do NOT buy from here if you live overseas. They charge extortionate shipping fees that do not include any customs or import VAT in the cost. Youll be waiting ages for delivery and receive a letter telling you your package is being held hostage until you pay. What the hell is the super expensive shipping fee for then?
