2019-02-09 20:37:04Every time I come to our vacation home in San Diego I get a little sad about how ugly our design turned out and a little upset that Jessica had intentionally overcharged us for some items. At our interview, Jessica said she gets designer discounts and would pass it along. When I asked her why she didn’t tell me she was going to mark-up items so significantly for décor she bought at Z Gallery she threw the contract at me stating that she could mark up items 30% without telling me. Some items were marked up over 100% and in addition she charged me for time to call Z Gallery to negotiate her discount. Also, we got charged more time for inputting orders into the “studio web” and other clerical work than actual design time. In fact, Jessica ad her team only visited the house once to design the house. Jessica charged us restocking fees for items we refused to put in our house and when we called the company where she purchased the item from, they told us there was not restocking fee. When asked for the receipt to prove that she was charged a restocking fee, she refused saying she didn’t have to show us any receipts. Jessica also refused to patch up holes that were made for some items that were returned and some redesigned areas we had to have redone, and we spent thousand on extra like warehouse, storage, delivery and set up fees that, while wording is in the contract, are not quantified until you get your bill…surprise! I ended up paying over $150,000 for the design and furniture and I’m still just so disappointed. I’ve worked with other designers for our other homes and business and never felt so ripped off.

2020-01-08 04:55:36Jessica was amazing! I was looking for an HGTV home remodel experience and she gave us that! She created a beautiful home for us with very little direction. Our only idea we came into the project was the color of the interior. ., .She planned the rest for us!! We were living overseas with a 16 hour time difference while we planned out our remodel for our home in San Diego. She was willing to work at odd hours, sent us photos of choices, kept us up to date on the costs, and worked with our renters to gain access into our home. When we moved back, it was like moving into a brand new home. All of her contractors were fantastic and took pride in their work. We have been able to recommend Jessica to quite a few of our friends when they have seen our new home. She made a typically high stress experience turn out to be a fun and exciting time! I highly recommend Jessica and her team.

2022-10-28 04:22:07I was a vendor quite sometime ago with Jessica and I admire her work ethic and design cues. She was also kind and respectful to my team. If things were not upto her spec, she was professional and clear on what her objectives were. One of the neatest things she does and doesn’t mention enough in my personal opinion… is that she hand sketches and designs furniture for the intent of the project. As we continued on some projects, it was incredible to watch those visions and sketches come to life!

2020-12-12 17:35:47I hired J Hill Interiors to tackle a decorating project after I completed some minor renovations. They listened to my vision, understood what I wanted and executed it brilliantly! I brought them back later on to tackle an outdoor decorating project because my experience with them was so pleasant. I would highly recommend them no matter the type or size of interior design project you are doing. They were great!

2017-10-19 04:18:30We originally found JHill through a friend of ours for whom they had done a full home service, top to bottom decor, and Im so glad we did! Jessica and her team were a delight to work with and made decorating our home a fun and easy process. They made it a point to get to know my personal preferences and style and presented beautiful options that were almost always spot on. They were able to combine our personal tastes with the style of our new home seamlessly and did stunning work.

2013-10-22 02:43:16My husband and I bought our first home and really wanted to make it the home of our dreams. Given that we had never really invested in decorating or buying expensive furniture, it was a daunting task for us to know where to start with our family, living, and dining rooms. I came across a few different interior design companies throughout San Diego and felt a bit intimidated not having an extensive budget, nor a real design esthetic. I found J Hill Interior Designs and was impressed by their vision because their services not only entail helping clients fulfill their design dreams, but also fostering a positive lifestyle specific to each individual/family. I left a message mid Friday morning and the lead designer Jessica called me back just a few hours later. Both Jessica and Amy were very professional, open, and honest from the very beginning. They took into consideration all of our needs and provided the direction we needed. In the end, they stayed within our very conscientious budget, and their expertise and knowledge truly exceeded our expectations. These two gals are really amazing at what they do and you can put your trust in them. Thank you so much J Hill Interior Designs for creating the home of our dreams!

2014-01-25 16:21:52Jessica and Amy were awesome. My husband and I bought a vacation home in San Diego and they took our random thoughts and turned it into a real vision. The place turned out beautiful. All their little extra touches has helped turn it immediately into the must have rental on the ocean. In addition they were responsive to any suggestions we had and stayed well within the budget we provided. We were over 500 miles away during the process and they made it seem effortless.

2014-11-06 05:01:28This was a difficult project that we gave to J Hill Interior Design. I am on the Home Owner Association Board in a very large Condo Complex.Just getting through the Board process was very challenging, as the Board has to be very conservative and careful on how the homeowners’ money is spent. Our lobby was in dire need of help. It had recent beautiful and very expensive work done on tile flooring. But then, the furniture pieces were being purchased, one piece at a time without a plan. The pieces that were being purchased were becoming a hodgepodge look and it was time to stop the nonsense before it was too late. There was a lot of push back from the HOA Board every step of the way that we would even consider using an Interior Designer. Of course, the homeowners were very much willing on wanting to design the lobby themselves. The problem is, none of them are actual designers and they each had their personal ideas that would not benefit the entire community. This condo complex houses young adults all the way up to the elderly.J Hill Interior Design was interviewed and passed through a 4 month process of getting to the point where the very tough Board finally agreed to the final approval of the furniture. The board insisted we needed to keep the furniture that was already purchased that did not go well together. I personally thought we were throwing good money after bad and would of rather sold off the recently bought furniture that was a mistake and have Jessica start over.I had great confidence in Jessica but looking at the existing furniture she needed to work with, I definitely had concerns on the final look. The day of installation, Jessica was under fire with many residents passing through and giving her their 2 cents. She was very pleasant to them and continued working with her own plan.By the end of the evening, when the project was just about complete, I visited the lobby to view the project and was amazed how the lobby had been transformed. It was beautiful. The furnishings Jessica had purchased had tied together with the previous hodgepodge pieces. She somehow managed to make everything go together beautifully. I believed she would do a great job with what she had to work with, but never expected this outcome with the challenges that were thrown at her. Jessica truly mastered it!!I would definitely recommend J Hill Interior Design. It is a very professional and talented firm and I’m sure anyone who uses them will be very happy.

2017-11-21 15:57:43We hired J Hill Interiors late in the project process, when construction of 3 houses was well under way. We came to realize that the other design service we were using just wasnt up to it. So we brought in Jessica and her team at a time when critical decisions had to be made right away. These involved revsising framing, kitchen layouts, cabinets and finishes, lighting locations and fixtures, tile, paint, and a boatload of other things. The J Hill Interiors services and cost structure was taylored to meet our specific project needs, which was a real plus. We hired them on a Time and Material basis, which was the logical method under the circumstances. It all turned out great. Jessica and the J Hill Ineriors team had great guidance and the leadership attributes that we needed. But they were also great listeners, and did not hesitate to change course after some discussion. They were not stubborn. But most important to me was that my wife was suddenly engaged in great conversations, exploring options, and being listened to. And in the end we are all friends now. Call Jessica. Im glad we did.

2017-10-23 23:59:08Just completed our second design project with J Hill Interior Designs & Jessica Tompane. This one at our new 5100 sq ft home in Columbus, Ohio. I strongly recommend their services to anyone looking for:- Extremely professional & thorough development, management and execution of design services. Ours was a $235,000 project that included all fixtures, furniture, floor coverings, window coverings and painting.- Delivery of an on-time, on-budget project.- Creative, up-to-date style recommendations that will stand the test of time.- Access to the best array of product choices/suppliers across all price points.- Great budget analysis & project update reports.- Highly reliable, available and approachable design team.- Ability to manage projects remotely while identifying the best local partnering solutions for distribution, installation and other ancillary services (wall coverings, painting, etc.).- Hands-on oversight of all aspects of the project, including final décor item selection and placement.- Total management of all related activities including returns, exchanges, etc..- Ability to integrate existing treasures into a new design plan.-In our case, we moved from a 1400 square foot condominium in San Diego (that had been decorated by J Hill Interiors) to our new home in Ohio with nothing but a few pieces of art. About 12 weeks after Jessica’s initial visit, we hosted a family reunion in our new, fully decorated home to rave reviews by our entire family.Jessica and her team truly represent the best, risk-free alternative in design services that I’m aware of. They brought a ton of innovation & creativity to the process of making our vision of what we wanted in a home come true. You just can’t go wrong with J Hill Interiors!
