I CAUGHT MY FIRST WAVE.One of my favorite experiences in the Santa Barbara area!I was quite nervous to take my first surf lesson, but Thomas was able to instill confidence in me before we entered the water. He taught me the proper techniques and the importance of safety and commitment.I love that he is transparent on good or bad surf days, and finds the best local surf spot to ensure you can catch a wave and have fun!After one lesson, I signed up for the membership soo…. Our 3 kids had a private lesson with Thomas and they absolutely loved it! Thomas was great with the kids with clear instructions and teaching at the start before getting into the water. Great introduction to surfing, good amount of time for each kid to have loads of practice. Would book again the next time we’re in Santa Barbara!

Learning to e-foil with Thomas was SO much fun. He took care of all of the equipment (no small feat; this is a way more involved process than a surf lesson) and provided all the necessary safety gear. It might seem like an expensive lesson, but when you see all the gear/set up and know how much it all costs, it makes sense why it costs more than a surf lesson. He provides clear instructions to help you progress and makes it feel safe. Perfect way to get started with foiling!

Thomas made this experience excellent for us! I was afraid of two things, and he made sure to reassure us and instruct us on avoiding any injuries. He was also able to read our expressions to help us have a better time. He made surfing feel easy by telling us little things to change each time we stood up. We wanted our 16 year old to learn to surf while we were in CA from the east coast. After booking online, Thomas texted the evening before our lesson to arrange a time and place that was both convenient for our touring schedule as well as ideal for surfing. We ended up not being able to go at the ideal time, but Thomas made sure it still worked. Thomas started the lesson with lots of verbal explanation on the beach, which we werent sure would work for our son, but once in the water, Thomas had our son up on a wave by the third attempt! Our son said his instruction in the water was clear and helpful, and he had a total blast for the full 90 minute lesson. I would highly recommend iSurf and Thomas to any beginner!

My daughter has been surfing with iSurf for almost a year now with the After School Program. She is 8 years old and the amount of growth she has experienced is amazing. Thomas, Zach, and all of the instructors are phenomenal. Most of her lessons have been with Thomas and Zach; they both know how to push her without making her uncomfortable. She has overcome fears, is developing a love for the ocean, and loves when she has surf lessons. I could not be more grateful that we found iSurf during the Covid-19 pandemic. The life lessons my daughter is learning about perseverance, keeping her body strong and healthy, caring for the ocean, and believing in herself and her abilities are far beyond what I expected her to learn. I recommend Thomas to everyone who asks!

ISurf is a great if you are looking for really good surf lessons that gives you a personalized experience. The instructors are very knowledge - giving helpful instruction whether you are a beginner or have surfed before. The boards and wetsuits are really good quality. The instructors know the area well and they pick the best break based on surf level and conditions. Isurf is also flexible and dependable to work with. If you are looking for a great company for surf lessons on the central coast or even on their surf trips abroad - I highly recommend Isurf!

ISurf was great! We booked lessons for three of our kids varying from elementary age to teens. They all loved it! Thomas was their instructor and all three kids felt comfortable in the water with him and his clear instructions. It was a joy to see them catching waves, smiling, and encouraging one another. Owner truly cares about customer getting best experience possible. Waves weren’t that great during our time in SB so he would be in contact regularly to see where and when we could surf for the best experience. Been to a few surf schools and most won’t be that flexible. Your time and day is final and money spent regardless of surf. The flexibility alone was awesome. Once we settled on day/time, Instructor was ready to go per our arrangement. Once everyone was suited up, he took time to explain to kids what to do, was thorough and friendly! Everyone had an awesome experience… from my more experienced son to our newbie who had never surfed before. Each caught plenty of waves! No need to look any further. Book your lesson today.

What I love about this camp is that it feels like family. Even though it was our first time in a camp with iSurf, I felt like Thomas was fully aware of my sons abilities and aspirations and wanted to help him have fun and improve. . .in that order! I cant recommend this enough. We tried out the efoils this last weekend as a bachelor party activity and they were an absolute blast! Thomas, the owner of the isurf school and our instructor for the day, was brilliant. Hes a super chill and fun guy who really knows his craft, and was able to get every one of our members up and flying in no time. If you want a unique experience where you can be confident you are in good hands, then I implore you to stop looking, and book a lesson - you wont regret it.

As a long time wannabe surfer, iSurf was the perfect way to start my journey. Such a great way to learn surfing! They were accommodating with my needs and questions, and made sure that I had the best surf experience they could give. Best Surf Instructor Ever!! I found iSurf through Yelp while I was in Santa Barbara for a few days. Ive had a lot of lessons in the past and Thomas is hands down the best instructor. He broke me of some bad habits and taught me lots of little maneuvers that helped me tremendously to be more efficient with my energy in the water. I am not a beginner, but I had to go back to the basics to reprogram my muscle memory. Thomas was great about taking me out during the right conditions and to the ideal spot for the type of lesson I wanted. He is really good at reading the waves and where to position yourself in the water for optimal rides. If youre a beginner, start with Thomas so you learn the techniques correctly. If youre a frustrated surfer like I was, take a lesson with Thomas to get dialed in correctly. I absolutely plan on getting more lessons from iSurf. Worth every penny!! And the service is great too! On time and convenient. You just show up and he has everything ready for you.

I booked a 1-1 lesson with Thomas and had an amazing time. I am a relative beginner with about 8-10 previous lessons under my belt and I feel Thomas really progressed my level with some excellent personalised tips and coaching. The spot he took me was perfect for my level and he helped me catch a really good number of waves. The equipment was in good condition and Thomas was also super helpful in organising and then rearranging the lesson last minute. I thoroughly enjoyed the lesson and feel that it has really progressed my level, looking forward to implementing all I learned next time I hit the waves! Would highly recommend - 10/10.

Bit of a late review, but my sister and I had a lesson with Thomas last week and had a great time. Were both completely new to surfing, and Thomas did a great job lecturing the basics on the beach, and an even better job teaching and guiding us when were in the water. It was our first time even attempting surfing and he walked (swam?) us through all the steps do that 2/4 of us were able to pop up and ride the waves in! My 7 year old daughter has been doing the after school program for several months now. She loves it! The instructors are awesome! They helped her feel comfortable in the water and confident in herself. The teacher student ratio is great, which allows lots of 1 on 1 training. Its nice to feel 100% confident that your child is safe and being taken care of. I also love that you can book online and schedule the night before, or plan weeks ahead. They have been super accommodating with schedules and flexibility if changes were needed and always highly responsive to email or messages. A major asset for this busy mom. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for surf lessons, children or adults! Try them, you will be glad you did!

My husband and I had a BLAST learning how to surf with Thomas. It was our first time surfing and we couldn’t have been more lucky to have Thomas as our instructor! He is funny, charismatic, super patient, and encouraging.Thomas provided all the education we needed before getting into the water and we had LOTS of time in the water catching waves! We absolutely would not have been able to stand on our board and ride waves without the help of Thomas.We’re still in awe of the magical experience of actually standing on our board with the wave beneath us and riding waves within our first lesson! This is the place to do surf camp! My 5 year old and 9 year old had the best time! Thomas and his crew were very communicative, welcoming and joyful. I’m so thankful that we tried it. Thomas was great! He helped me not only get up and surf, but also taught me about the waves, balancing on the board, and many other things in between waves. He was friendly and encouraging. My husband LOVED his surf lesson with Zack. He had always wanted to try surfing but never pulled the trigger to book a lesson himself. Upon planning our baby moon I contacted iSurf to surprise my husband with a private lesson and to ask a few questions. I spoke to Thomas who was extremely helpful and answered all of my questions. After the call I knew this was the company to book through. We received a text letting us know the location of the session the day before as well as a text the morning of. Received a text with exact instructions on where to meet. Instructor was great! Clear instructions on everything from how to put on a wetsuit (we’re from Kansas and have zero experience!) to how to pop up. Location was fantastic with plenty of beginner waves for us. We decided to do so and Thomas went above and beyond on instructions and helping us out when we were on the tour. We did the SUP Tour and we will definitely be doing it again. We highly recommend it. Just two words - AWESOME Experience! 🏄‍♀️ 🏄‍♂️We booked 2 private lessons at isurf for two days. Scheduling an appointment went smoothly and the surf school was very flexible. After the waves were not suitable for surfing on our planned day, we received honest feedback from Thomas (really appreciate it) and were able to flexibly postpone the surf lesson to the next day. Our meeting point was in Ventura (ca. 40 min by car from Santa Barbara), a local surf spot to catch the best waves. Thomas was a great instructur who took a lot of time to teach us the most important basics, first at the beach. Therefore we were able to get up on the board and ride a few waves on the first day. Good feeling for surf newbees! The second day was even more fun learning to fine-tune our technique! Thomas gave very honest feedback and always motivated us. He brought the equipment with him, so we didnt have to care about that and could fully concentrate on surfing. We recommend booking isurf if you want to learn the right technique of surfing away from the other surf schools in town and maybe pay a little more for it. Worth it! Thomas is experienced, knowledgeable, patient, and extremely in tune with how I was doing and how I felt surfing in the ocean for the first time. He gave me feedback after we surfed each wave; he challenged and encouraged me, which gave me all the confidence I need to get out of my head and enjoy the ocean/surf. My 6 and 7 yo daughters attended the summer camp. It was their very first experience out in the ocean. The team: Zach and instructors are absolutely amazing. Thomas of iSurf communicated promptly and clearly before the morning on the water. He let me know what to expect, answered my questions, and learned what I was looking for. Once we met at the shore, he set me up with the gear I needed to stay warm and safe and taught me what I would need to know on the water. Zach was a great teacher. I was the only student in the group, so it was all 1 on 1 for me. He was really good at adjusting the content of the lesson to my previous knowledge and skills. Ive surfed before - really I just paddled out and ate waves, so he sped through some of the basics with me which was nice. He paid a lot of attention to me and gave me great tips on how to improve. He also was great at reading the ocean and the other surfers in the area, all I had to do to be in great position was to try and stick close.Caught quite a few waves, developed confidence and was finally able to relax towards the end. I started taking surfing lessons with iSurf in September 2014. I could not believe how much fun it was! As a competitive swimmer, I couldnt believe I had never surfed before! Thomas was great at getting me up and surfing right away. He and the other instructors do a great job of challenging you and encouraging you at the same time. I was fortunate enough to be able to take a surf trip down to Baja with six of my best girl friends this Spring hosted by iSuf. This was such a special and unique opportunity - a trip that we will all never forget. Not only was our surf trip empowering but it was full of laughter, good conversation and really great instruction! I recently went on a trip to Baja with iSurf and it was incredible! I had only surfed once and it was years ago, so my fears of the ocean and getting knocked around by the waves were very present as I got into the water. Not only was I nervous on the surfing front, but I had also never been out of the country. All of these fears were easily alleviated by Thomas and Zach. Thomas has been to Baja countless times with and without iSurf, and he is very familiar with the area, rules, and great spots to check out. I felt completely safe in the resort area we were staying in as well as when travelling around Baja with Thomas.Every morning we woke up early to fresh coffee before Zach took us all out to go surf. On the second day I couldnt for the life of me paddle out, I felt like I just couldnt seem to paddle out hard or fast enough before getting pushed back by another wave. Zach was quick to come over and help me push through and give me some pointers which helped me tremendously the rest of the trip. Zach and Thomas were both great about coaching us on how what we can improve upon to become better surfers and teaching us surfing etiquette.After surfing, we came back to a delicious brunch each day. We lounged, sipped some tequila and modelos, shopped, ate at restaurants, laid out, went horseback riding on the beach, etc. I knew no one going into this trip, and I ended up having the time of my life! All the other girls were helpful, fun and hilarious. We had a blast, and I cant wait to go back. Highly recommend this trip and iSurf in general to anyone wanting to surf and have a good time in Mexico!

I am so happy and satisfied with my iSurf experience!!!! I dont think I would have continued surfing if it hadnt been for iSurf! The Annual Membership program is the deal of a lifetime! I could not have afforded another year of surf lessons but this has enabled me to continue with classes and go on outrageous surf trips to Jalama, Baja and San Diego! iSurf is the BEST and Thomas could teach a rock to surf! I love iSurf. I am not a natural at the sport, but over the last two years have learned to catch waves, turn, and have a total blast.I love the instructors at iSurf because they make you catching a wave a top priority. If you cant do it on your own they will push you. As you progress, they will teach you everything you need to know in order to be a better surfer. Ive taken lessons at other schools and felt largely ignored in the water, as if I should just be teaching myself. This is not the case with iSurf, the instruction is EXCELLENT and your every move in the water will be assessed by your coach and youll get feedback to improve your technique.Theres also nothing better than the iSurf get togethers and surf trips. I have formed friendships that only the bond of surfing can create. There is such amazing attention to detail on the trips too- with regard to lodging, location, meals, and activities-its all perfect and a great deal also. I look forward to these trips so much- Ive gone on two and am signed up to go on another to Baja in November.Thank you iSurf. Im now a surfer for life. Im officially obsessed and there is no going back. Without the instruction of iSurf and the bond of the women I surf with, I know I would have given up a long time ago....now I have the love of a lifetime (surfing!!) to keep me stoked.

Personally, being an Indian NRI girl, it’s quite a arduous process of thought to develop a skill other than the mandate skills/job. Ive been surfing as part of the womens program for 2 years, and its hands down one of the best experiences of my life. The instruction is incredible and most often newbies are standing up on their first lesson. I mostly love that there is always more to learn and Im constantly pushed to be better. Again, I cant say enough good things about the instructors!Im usually not one for womens only groups, but after just a few sessions with these ladies it became evident just how special this program is. This is an amazing group of women, each with a unique reason for picking up such a challenging sport...I feel very humbled and lucky to know them. Its a great group that has found our place and confidence in a male-dominated sport...that feels good :).
