Ive seen free video trainings, they are not only very easy to follow, but only very rich in content and generous teachings, advises and techniques. Excellent way to go in the career path of becoming a court interpreter. Ive been a competency restoration trainer where I counsel or teach defendants with felony charges to become competent to stand trial. Therefore, Im familiar with the court vocabulary and language, so I can see and say Interpretrain is one of the few companies out there that really know how to teach and guide people interested in this as a job or freelancer career. Excellent job!

I have taken several self-paced courses given by Virginia Valencia and have found them very informative, complete and helpful for my work as a Spanish court interpreter, work I have been doing for over 20 years. I recently took a 22.5 self-paced course which I highly recommend. The webinar includes a section on symbols, a very complete section on interpreter ethics and a section, which I found most useful, teaches about a very helpful technique for remote interpretation. I highly recommend Virginia’s courses.

I just finished the Interpreter Protocol and Ethics course (self-guided). I found the information mostly a good review (since Ive been interpreting for almost 20 years) but also learned some new and helpful information. This course was designed by someone with a Psychology degree, so it builds in a lot of review to help people learn the material more efficiently. I liked the reviews and quizzes; they were a good challenge. Will definitely take more of your classes in the future.

The app course for Spanish court interpreting is the most well organized and modern course I have done to date. The content really targets realistic court interpreting topics. I appreciate how the app is set up for you to be able to shadow, interpret, listen to your recordings, and grade yourself while following the script and target vocabulary words, and listen to a proper interpreting rendition. My only complaint is that for this price, you only get one year of access (no warning on expiration date), whereas other similar courses allow you to keep the content and the downloads, though I believe you can renew for a price.

My experience with Interpretrain is excellent. I was hesitant at first thinking it wasnt legit because the price is very very reasonable compared to other programs available for Interpreting. I tried their free versions to be safe and everything has been useful. I enjoy their vocabulary exercises, the written test information as well which includes root words, and although I am not there yet the part where you get to record yourself translating is so useful. It made me realize I have a lot of studying to do but thats a good thing because the more you prepare the better our results will be for the exam. I plan on purchasing their whole program in the near future but for now I need to finish their written test prep.

It was a wonderful course on Consecutive Interpretation and note-taking. I liked that I was able to get assistance before my purchase, during, and after I had finished. As an Interpreter striving to get better I definitely see myself utilizing their services and would recommend others to do so. I really love Interpretrain materials. I started with the Note Taking Manual and then I took the State Oral Prep course as well as the Federal Oral Prep course and I have to say these courses were different to all the rest because they have the score feature, being able to measure your rendition was so useful. I also loved the fact that I could practice expert witness testimony at different speeds. I had all the study calendar there ready with the different labs, all I had to do was sit down and study. It definitely made things easier. I really recommend Interpretrain materials to anyone trying to pass an interpretation exam or just becoming a better interpreter. I am now state and federally certified, thank you Interpretrain for all the great labs and classes.

Its a well-designed, fast-paced, intensive course with knowledgeable and supportive instructor. My experience has been quite positive.I have read a complaint that there is not enough of vocabulary provided. I would agree with the fact, but not the sentiment. I dont think the course is meant to teach you vocabulary, its goal is to train you to work with what you already have. And with that it does a great job.Points of concern for me personally: I have a feeling that speed of recordings for synchronous interpreting is too slow even the one that is marked normal. Which can provide the false sense of safety with regards to level of preparedness for the test. But it may be that my memory of tests serves me wrong.My other concern is that Note taking is a course within a course and while learning that skill could be incredibly helpful for work, it is similar to learning coding, stenography or even writing music scores. Or braille alphabet. Or sign language. So if you have been replying on different techniques for consecutive interpreting before and will try to implement this new skill close to test time one may feel like a caterpillar who was asked how do they manage so many legs -- trip and fall.As a prep for test training this course spends 2 of the 3 classes on note taking. If you are perfectly comfortable with consecutive interpreting and are looking to improve your synchronous interpreting skills instead, this is not the course for you.

I really enjoyed this self exam prep for the bilingual interpreting exam for California, this program is great and does an excellent job prepping not just for the test but cases beyond that and it covers many other hearings that one will encounter after one is certified not just what you would encounter on the test. The material is also very similar to the test and breaks down the key terms you need to get right and gets you in the rhythm to score them right on the test. Also the instructors renditions are at the end of each excercise, which I find extremely useful. Hands down a really great program, put together very well, I am very confident I will pass this test once it is available in California again. Great price too, other programs are alot more pricier I feel this is a great price, with an extreme bang for your buck. Highly recommend this to anyone looking to get more practice to not just pass the state exam but to be the best court interpreting you can be, the tech support has also been supportive if I have questions and to guide me through some of the features on the app. 10/10 I would definitely recommend it.

I purchased registration for the Court Interpretation Oral Exam Training Program (Spanish). I heard about this training program from my sister, who is a professional interpreter. As I was thinking more about entering that field myself, she strongly recommended this program, stating that note-taking is one area where all interpreters struggle. She said it was helpful to her and I decided to undergo the class as well. I hope to go through the exercises several more times while I have access to the module. I could tell by the end of the first time through that I was getting more fluent with the symbols, so that was very encouraging. The interpretrain Federal Master Class was a delight to partake in. There are A LOT of modules that include recordings of real life scenarios that you can practice in consecutive or simultaneous at 120, 140 and 160 wpm. The actual class time is very practical as the instructors explain any questions that you may have and guide you through the exercises. They provide all of the tools you need to pass the FCICE! The schedule for live trainings were difficult for me, but they record the sessions which means that you can rewatch them whenever you want, as many times as you want.Their prototype application is still work in progress but its very functional as of this review. It allows you to listen to practice recordings and record yourself within the same page. You can also grade yourself at the end and compare with the script that they provide. Additionally, you can practice vocabulary and take advantage of the sharing function and swap with a buddy to grade each others interpretations.All in all, the interpretrain team is always ready to answer all questions and their customer service is without a match. They will help you troubleshoot on the website or the app and answer any interpretation questions you may have. Virginia and Brad are amazing to work with and I look forward to taking more of their courses in the future!

I have been a practicing interpreter for over 7 years, and have been State Court Certified since 2018. I began my training as an interpreter in an academic program at my local community college, and prior to my state certification I enrolled in a multi-week institute at the University of Arizona. I took the Ethics, Protocol and the Consecutive Mode online course and loved it! It gives you CEUs, but most importantly the information is very useful. Even if its a pre-recorded webinar, it is interactive. It allowed me to practice the new skills that were being taught. The Ethics portion was also great! It is very complete. The great thing about taking it as a pre-recorded class, is that you can rewind it, if you didnt catch something at first.
