Went here for a bday dinner and it was absolutely delicious. Weve tried many other places looking for the perfect beef wellington including a few kitchens in Las Vegas and let me tell ya, this one here takes 1st place. We also ordered lobster risotto, stuffed baked potato and a apricot cherry cornmeal cake. The lobster risotto was cooked to perfection, maybe a little too perfect because I finished it and I probably shouldnt have, haha! Creamy, buttery, soft, chewy and the lobster, perfectly seasoned. I dont usually eat beef but the wellington was a must try and believe me, it was exquisite! Melt in your mouth tender juicy beef with just the perfect amount of sauce. The pastry has such a homemade flavor that you want to just wait a moment, and enjoy it slowly. Same with the brisket on on the potato! I mean seriously, it was just melting. We also had onion soup and it was really flavorful. Id never had it before so I cant say Ive had better or worse nonetheless, this one was quite tasty. Oh yes, my new obsession thanks to this dinner, pepperdew peppers! If they have them, TRY THEM. Sweet, savory with a hint of just a little kick of spice covered in balsamic and accompanied by a few things I cant remember but anyway, my new obsession, lol. Prices are less than what I expected from a place with such great and friendly service and excellent food. There is an extensive menu of alcoholic beverages for those who enjoy a good glass. ***Almost forgot, you can call ahead and ask about their menu since it changes weekly. I called ahead and requested the beef wellington and it was made available but they dont always have them available.***

Jeanette the owner came out to meet us right when we arrived. We enjoyed a 3 course meal consisting of organic and well put together dishes that were delicious AND amazing desserts (strawberry shortcake was my favorite). The staff was very friendly, and took great care of our table of 10 adults and two kids under 2. Ive been here once before and was treated the same way. GIVE THIS PLACE A TRY!

WOW!!! Phenomenal dinner!!! We started with drinks, fresh bread (with some divine butter) & french onion soup!! Our main courses were superb- the chimichurri sauce is so fresh, it’s a must have. Honestly, I cannot wait to come back here. It felt like we were in a Hallmark movie. I even overheard other guests talking about how glad they were to be back- it’s such a lovely restaurant and the staff is so welcoming.

Found this place during restaurant week, but will definitely return for their regular menu as our dishes were delicious. All ingredients are fresh and seasonal from the local farmers market. Filet and lamb were cooked perfectly. French onion soup and tartar were great appetizers, and the dessert options were delicious (especially the apple trio for the Fall). The staff was nice and attentive, checking on us and refilling water, and gave great recommendations on food and wine pairings, including a port with dessert. Overall amazing experience for a special night out and a treat to find this place!

Im sorry but our experience wasnt good. When youre looking for fine dining its usually for a special occasion and you want your night to be exceptional. Im going to try and save you money and time. Here were our issues and pictures to match.1. Our water glass was dirty with dish towel fuzz all over the rim.2. We got the French Onion soup and mine came with a nice leek on top for garnish. My wifes didnt.3. French onion soup also had burned hard flakes from the bottom of a pan floating in it. The chefs explanation was its sediment from the bone broth. Im sorry but I didnt read bone broth sediment on the menu! Lol4. Dessert had a chocolate sufflé but they didnt disclose that it was an almond flower sufflé... It also tasted like it had coconut in it which was also not on the menu.5. The decor is kind of off putting. Its like theyre trying way to hard to show its a French restaurant. Fine dining in my opinion is elegant, clean, and delicious.6. The plating was cool but color was weird on the main course. Looked kind of like a poop streak on the plate. Maybe I watch too much Master Chef...Okay lets talk about the good because I definitely gave 2 starts for a reason.1. The main course was pretty damn good. Kobe beef ravioli, short rib, and steak.2. The dessert I got was really good. Lots of whipped deliciousness and fruit. Creamy lemony dolops and cheese cake-esque puddings...3. Service was stellar.For $75 dollars a plate theres 6 other places I would go spend my money. Youre paying for memories at places like this. An experience. Unfortunately ours wasnt great barly even good.Bellamys down the street crushes this place for similar prices.

Had dinner during Covid-19 restrictions. They did a great job on all accounts. Two fixed menus to choose from. I had the squash flower, rack of lamb, and cheesecake. She had the corn fritters, duck, and cake. All were fantastic. The mixed drinks were also excellent. I highly recommend.

Visited for San Diego Restaurant Week. The restaurant is technically Hunsakers at Vincents which caused a little confusion at first as we walked right past the entrance. Restaurant is somewhat small on the inside, but has a great bar. The food was amazing. Salmon salad and hazelnut bisque were top notch! The only knock was the serving dish for the seabass...it was served in a bowl rendering the entree a fish soup. If it had been served in a saucer-style dish it would have been much better. Definitely worth the trip and would go back.

Spend our anniversary here. It is one of the new restaurant in Escondido. We decided to try it. We had Oyster and it was fresh and delicious. Then we had the onion soup the best Ive had. My husband had the lamb and I had the picanah steak the seasoning is perfect. Dessert was the Sundae its just okay but Im not a fan of sweet. Spend $200 with tip. Its a bit pricey but it is our anniversay. Staff was great and friendly. I didnt get any refills for my ice tea or water because there were only 2 or 3 dining staff. The bartender had to helpef out.

If you haven’t been to this restaurant, you’re missing out! extremely impressed at the owner walk from table to table, talking to the customers about their experience and explaining the menu and how she named the restaurant! The chef has been there since he was a young lad and his food is outstanding! the choices of the fair are delectable! Every dish is not only exceptional but is made with pure culinary excellence! I had never heard of Hunsakers restaurant in Downtown Escondido until stumbling across it on the restaurant week website. Because they had salmon Wellington, a dish I rarely see and enjoy, I decided to call and they were able to get me a reservation for the evening so I made the drive up to Escondido and Im sure glad I did!The Caesar salad was delicious with cornbread croutons and homemade dressing, definitely one of the best Caesar salads Ive had this side of the border. The main course was Sam and Wellington which did not disappoint. Very flavorful in a crisp puff pastry shell with delicious sauces. I also added a side order of their butternut squash and it was very tasty.The dessert course was amazing, delicious samples of several different desserts they offer, each more tasty than the next.This restaurant changes their menu weekly according to the owner who I was talking to. She told me that they source their ingredients at local farmers markets for the freshest produce and I could definitely taste how fresh everything was. Highly recommended.

The. Best. Escargots!!!! Pâté et cornichons! Tomatoes and eggplant soupe was a very happy Discovery. The beef Wellington was mind blowing... So tender, medium rare and yet inside a crispy puff pastry! How do they do it?! Bday boy was in heaven with his canard à lorange. I cant say enough about the food.

Everything was great! Food may have been a bit complicated. Personally, I like it a bit more simplified, but the quality was excellent. The service was excellent. When it became full, the noise level was a bit on the loud side, and it was difficult to talk. Sound seemed to bounce off the walls almost to an echo.

Found this little gem that used to be called The Flying Toad. Greeted by the owner, Janette. Was served by Casey. Everything about this place was charming from the warm welcome, the wonderful service and most of all the delicious food by their chef Mr. Hunsacker (for which the restraurant was renamed). We were served our beverages in retro glassware that was so appealing. We had elevated flavors of comfort food as we just were coming out of the cold! A small eclectic menu with something for everyone. The onion soup was savory. We shared a delicious beet salad followed by sharing some yummy main courses. Odd choices but amazing flavors for this little gem. Turkey Pot Pie, A pork Quesadilla with Goat Cheese and Braised Short Rib in a baked potato. All were so flavorable we could not speak! We will return!

We came on restaurant week, so they had a pre-set menu. The food was shared as family style but extremely small portions. The salmon was unbelievably amazing. There are definitely tons of new and unique flavors to experience. We were taken by surprise.The service was great, but the restaurant was too quiet. Maybe some jazz music might help. We felt like we had to whisper softly, or else the entire place would hear our private conversation.We unfortunately ordered 2 desserts, assuming they would be tiny like the rest of the meal. They were gigantic! Very delicious. Definitely double-check portion size for the day on each meal item.We unfortunately both got very sick a couple of hours later, but believe it was due to the major sugar rush.We will definitely check this restaurant out again when they have their normal menu style back.

We attended the Sunday Dinner club. The courses were amazing, the portions more than generous, and the restaurant was comfortably cozy without being cramped. The service was a bit on the slow side between courses, but delivery and presentation made up for it. We were entertained by a personable magician between courses as well. If you attend, save lots of room for the desserts, which are the fireworks at the end of the evening. Highly recommended.

Creative and well-thought, but not over-done and too far gone. The meats were exceptionally prepared from cut to cook to plating. The deserts were state of the art, and I could easily agree to go back JUST to get through the menu selection alone.The ambiance here is incredible. You really dont feel like youre in CA at all... maybe like old-town NE? its beautiful and unique!The best part was the service. The owner was providing seating and table touches throughout the entire night. The staff was funny, well-trained, and knew anything you could need to know about the menu or drink list.Seriously, I drove for over an hour to meet friends at this spot I had found while looking for good food in the halfway spot. Yikes this place is bad! Its where Vincents used to be and claims to be a French restaurant, but is anything but. Its actually pretty hard to tell what they want to be because the menu has overpriced American steakhouse, French onion soup, Chinese bao, and a mish mash of other cuisines - not in a fusion and intentional way, but in a haphazard way.Service: reminiscent of Dennys - why if I ask for the specials would you tell me the price like this is a diner? why when Im opening my mouth to say what I want would you also just walk off? Not *awful* but noticeably weird.Atmosphere: feels like the clearance aisle of home goods. Kind of trashy, haphazard, and cheap. Very weird! Please hire a real interior designer and a graphic designer for your menus themselves....not your friends toddler.The food itself: Im not one to care too much about presentation, I didnt expect anything in Escondido to be actual fine dining, but at fine dining prices (seriously steak is $85 for *this* place?...with fries?) or at least higher prices than what youd find at any much nicer place in San Diego, youd expect it to at least not look like babys first cooking project. I ordered bone marrow with escargots and the food was bland but fine, no comment, but it came with a slice of bread that was an inch thick and green and black striped. Were that left out Id just say the food looks nice and was just boring and basic, but that bread really seemed like a middle schooler discovered food coloring for the first time. Friend I was with had the french onion soup we saw raved about - it wasnt even mediocre. It wasnt terrible but it seemed like whoever made it never had french onion soup before. For what the price was it was embarrassing.Portions were small (Im not someone who expects stereotypical big American fast food portions, but this was just insane), food was bad, and we both bolted instead of getting drinks or dessert and just paid and ate elsewhere.Oh all the pictures you see on google are clearly from a promotional opening day. Nothing looks like that, most of the pictures arent foods on the menu, and dont even seem like theyre from the same restaurant.Do you know that netflix show where people try to make cakes they saw on pinterest and it all just goes laughably wrong? Thats what this place felt like. It was TERRIBLE.

Was looking forward to the Beef Wellington but it was not available. The dinner is a prefix 3 course meal. Your choice of an appetizer, main course and dessert for $60 pp. Overall we were not disappointed. The food was fantastic but the portions are small for a big guy like me. Luckily my wife has a small appetite so it worked out. For our appetizer we shared the french onion soup and the duck tamale which was surprisingly delicious. for the main course I chose the rack of lamb and my wife got the braised short rib. Again the rack of lamb was small but very good. It came with wild rice and eggplant. The braised short rib was tender but a little on the dry side for me but the pasta it came with was fantastic. For dessert we shared the Louie VIII (I recommend it) and the other one I cant remember the name but it was a chocolate pudding with hydrated raspberries I believe. It was our anniversary and they put these little white chocolates that said happy anniversary on them which was a very thoughtful. Over the food was delicious and the staff was fantastic. And always remember thank you for the food!

We had a wonderful time at Hunsacker’s. I am from California and was in town visiting old friends, and the place was a wonderful time to share old memories over a couple drinks. The bartender was very knowledgeable and personable without getting too much in our business. Nice selection of whiskies but not as expensive as I was expecting it to be. They went out of their way to make us feel at home!

A week ago this past Friday, we had a rehearsal dinner at Vincents and we could not have been happier with our choice. The food was excellent and the service was outstanding! Probably the most I’ve spent on dinner anywhere (in Escondido of all places?) but the amount of effort that went into the food presented to our table was mind boggling. Three courses, each of which had more variety and complexity on a single plate than I’d ever put into an entire meal. A small dining room with only a handful of tables to support their business means that you should only go when you’re willing to spend well on a dinner because they deserve every penny of it - their chef is putting his/her heart into that restaurant at a level I’ve never seen in California and not at all since leaving Austin. 5 stars.

I went to this restaurant and I loved it. The welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff create an overall amazing dining experience unlike any other. The food was delicious, cooked to perfection, and presented in a very attractive manner. The food is good. The service is acceptable. I personally feel the servers are kind of pushy but that didnt stop me from shoving food to my face. The air conditioning is non-existent. So dress less if you get hot flashes like me... lol. The wine list is superb except none of them is by glass so heaven forbids if youre driving that night. Then youll be condemned to regular wine. They do sell wine by glass but no one would tell me whats available and the price. All in all nice place to go.

Charming/quaint restaurant, great good, wine & full bar; pleasant/hard-working staff that sincerely take pride in this establishment as it shows (cleanliness and quality). Reservations recommended.My friends and i visited here for the first time. If youre looking for a bunch of appetizers, this is not the place... we stayed anyway to check it out. The menu is traditional to the cuisine. My entree(short ribs) and dessert(creme brulee) were superb, in both taste and presentation. The server, who was also the bartender, made our martinis to each of our specifications. Perfect!

This restaurant is a gem in San Diego County. Everything from the beautifully appointed decor to the ladies room with clean white folded hand towels for each customer, and the staff is first rate. The menu is amazing. The Duck L orange was the best I have ever had and my husbands Beef Wellington was perfect! The lovely locally grown mixed vegis were cooked perfectly and incredibly tasty. This is our go to restaurant for special occasions from now on.

So sad, just spent $365 on the worst meal of our fine dining experience (for two). Have always wanted to try this place, what an incredible disappointment on New Years Eve 2016! Arrived at 7pm in hopes of experiencing the best. The word I would use to describe the food is NASTY. I do not want to waste any more time than we have already, so I will only describe the soup course. White sauce, a thread of basil with a poached egg floating in the middle...nasty like everything else, yuk. Dont do it..the only nice part was the the staff.

Vincents has always been a gem in Escondido. Sad to find out that Vincent past away about three years ago. His wife and staff have continued the phenomenal food and service. However, she is selling and November 2nd will be the last day under her ownership. I understand the new owner will open the restaurant back up in about a week and utilized some of Vincents recipes. Incredible food and excellent service. The Trois et Trois deal is a steal with 3 courses for only $30. Its only good for Tues, Wed & Thurs and has to be seated before 6pm. Very nice little restaurant in downtown Escondido. We went during the Trois a Trois time, which is such an amazing deal! You get 3 courses for $30. We both picked the braised short rib for our main course, and when the very polite waiter brought it out and set in down, it wiggled a bit on its bed of noodles. I do not eat rare meat, so I thought Its ok, Ill just eat the noodles and vegetables. Theres no way it can move like that and be fully cooked. Hubby thought the same thing for me, but then when he took a bite he happily told me it was fully cooked and I had to try it. Let me tell you, it was the most delicious and tender piece of meat I have ever had! The noodles were house made and also tender and delicious. This is definitely a date night must go and I cannot wait until we return. I felt bad that we had our phones out waiting for dessert, but we were both looking at their website reading the full menu, picking what we wanted to try next time we come. I will say the Trois a Trois menu is pre-chosen. You have 1 choice per course, but each course has 3 options. They usually post the current weeks choices on the website every Tuesday as they are closed Sunday and Monday.

I have been dining at Vincents for many years.Moving to San Diego from NY left a void in my culinary routine.After ten years here, I discovered Vincents and found one of the best, if not THE best French restaurant in greater San Diego .I immediately made friends with Vincent and Lisa and have enjoyed countless evenings of fine cuisine, epicurean table service, and all in a lovely, well styled room.I take my NY friends to Vincents to enjoy a truly great meal.

The food here at Vincent‘s never disappoints. Ilija was helpful and friendly. Started with the sweet potato and curry soup... out of this world! Then warm apples, walnuts and pastry with Burrata and port marinated figs... so incredible. For the main we had Scottish Salmon with muscles, in a sherry broth with spinach and light flavorful gnocchi... a grand slam. Finished with a fresh watermelon, honey dew and arugula salad in a warm pesto dressing!

Sadly, much like other businesses weve seen Vincents declining in service and quality of food. The hostess is very incompetend rarely finds a reservation and is not personably at all. This is the first impression a customer gets and should be perfect. We were very impressed with this place once but will not return now.

For sampling Vincents food, it was good to try on their Trois et Trois days, tues to thurs which cost $30 for 3 courses. We dined with another couple at Vincents and ordered Provencal Lamb Rack; Caper Scallop and Prawns; Wagyu Rib Eye (2 orders) for entrees; Lobster Bisque and House Cured Salmon for appetizers; Pear Tart and Fruit Panna Cotta for desserts. All the main entrees were delicious except that the Lamb Rack was very small portion with 3 small ribs, hardly any meat on them. There was only 1 big scallop and 2 Prawns. I guess for that price, they need to serve very small portions. The Pear Tart was excellent and the Panna Cotta was average. Lobster Bisque was very good but only served in a small custard cup dish (~2-21/2 ounces). The servers were friendly. It was a good experience for trying out their food.

Awesome food. A real treat. Meals that are difficult to get right like Lamb and Duck are amazing. Had Rabbit last time - it was the best thing I have ever had! Soups are not your average Minestrone etc....they are all good, and slightly different: Squash, Caulifower, etc...mmmm Good. We found it on a whim and have been back many times. I love everything about this restaurant. If I am going to pay for a meal, I want something I can not make at home. Deeeelicious! PS I have always had prompt and polite service.
