Dr James Magician Lu is truly a magician. He and his gifted staff have been phenomenally helpful in helping me regain quite a lot of strength and functionality that I lost in my left hand due to a stroke about 2.5 months back. I very hopeful and confident that Hope Neuro-Acupuncture Rehab will help me get even stronger than where I was before my stroke.

I would like to give my sincere thanks and appreciation to the acupuncturists, therapists, and rest of the staff at Nope Neuro-Acupuncture Rehab. My wife suffered a stroke 6 months ago, and our family was devastated. She had lost control of half of her body. Throughout the past months however, I have watched her make amazing progress and can now say that she has regained 90% of her strength and mobility. I think that much of that progress is thanks to the incredible staff at this facility. They have shown us the utmost dedication, kindness, and professionalism. My wife looks forward to her appointments and we are always greeted with a smile here. I would highly recommend this rehab center.

My 96-year-old mom experienced a mild stroke in July, 2023. She showed little progress receiving in-home PT from her health provider. Before she started receiving both acupuncture and intensive PT at Hope Neuro Acupuncture Center (3x per week) in October she had limited use of her right leg and no use of her right arm. Since then, she has been treated by the trained, professional and supportive staff at Hope and shown steady progress - she can now climb a set of stairs, with assistance, raise her right arm and partially close her right hand. Hope has up-to-date PT equipment and a large therapy space for treating their patients. Her care has been excellent!My mother looks forward to her treatments and will continue her therapy at Hope, with the goal of walking on her own without any help.Vic

After having brain surgeries and brain cancer treatments, Hope Neuro-Acupuncture Rehab has become a significant part of my rehabilitation care team. Their acupuncture and massage help me with multiple specific aspects such as headaches, energy level, and regaining physical strength. The entire staff are friendly and encouraging. Dr. Lu and Dr. Duong are both professional, intelligent and attentive. Out of my cancer care team, Hope Neuro-Acupuncture Rehab has been the most compassionate, and treat me as an individual versus only one of many. I am so grateful I have found Hope Neuro-Acupuncture to be a part of my healing journey. Ive been going regularly for the past few months and have already noted several neurological improvements (diploplia, tinnitus, throat spasms, and balance). Their acupuncturist doctors are all very kind, thoughtful, and knowledgeable. I think the concept of a physical therapy space combined w/ acupuncture is very unique and no doubt increases the success of physical therapy. The best part of this clinic is how harmoniously the staff all work together and how patient, encouraging, and fun they are! I always leave with a smile and optimism.

My wife suffered from a stroke back in Dec 2019 and had epileptic seizures over the period of last 2 years. She has been seizure free since the time we joined Dr. Lu’s Neuro Acupuncture treatment.Her health has improvised to an extent where she is able to be independent and get back to work. I very recently had surprise lumbar surgery after a pinched motor nerve, severely affecting my ability to walk. The recovery has been very taxing both mentally and physically.I found Dr Lus clinic and was welcomed with smiles, positivity, and a very personalized care plan. Over the past couple months Ive been able to regain much of my strength, ability, and confidence. I have been treated the rotator cuff muscle injury which caused my right arm could not be lifted by Hope Neuro Rehab. Surprisingly, my right arm recovered well after two months of treatments. Dr Lu is an amazing healer!I am a competitive Masters Track & Field athlete and have been suffering with a few chronic and additional occasional pains that come with the territory. With Dr. Lus combination of Physical Therapy and Acupuncture techniques weekly he helps me stay on track and focused on doing my daily activities instead of the pain. Also, my chronic pains have diminished almost completely! As a former hip hop dancer turned competitive weightlifter, all those years finally caught up to me. I was struggling with chronic knee pain for a few months. After already seeing a few other doctors, a friend of mine spoke highly of Dr. Lu and encouraged me to see him (Shout out to Son). After the first 1-2 visits, Dr. Lu was already suspecting it may be a meniscus tear, which is a testament to his knowledge and experience! An MRI from my doctor later confirmed Dr. Lus initial speculations–it was, in fact, a torn medial meniscus!Through continued acupuncture and physical therapy treatments, pain and swelling decreased, and I slowly improved my strength and mobility.Im truly grateful for Dr. Lu and his amazing staff! Dr Lu is one of the best doctors in the South Bay, hands down. The combination of acupuncture and physical therapy works extremely well and any person will see progress and results within the first couple of sessions. His knowledge and expertise truly cannot be overstated, he is a walking encyclopedia! Him and his team also bring a new definition to quality patient care, I have worked in other physical therapy clinics and the level of care a patient receives at HOPE is unmatched, even big names like Stanford. The whole team at Hope Neuro-Acupuncture Rehab is friendly, professional and highly knowledgable and it starts with the leadership and treatment provided by Dr. Lu. I came to the clinic with pain from a knee injury. I am a dancer and highly active person so my priorities were recovery, relief and return to my regular activity.Through weekly treatments of acupuncture from Dr. Lu coupled with physical therapy provided by the exceptional team of aids I have seen a vast reduction in pain as well as increase in strength and overall confidence in my movement. I met Doctor Lu when my mom suffered a mini stroke and he made visits to the rehabilitation center that she was at. Although Doctor Lu was out of my mom’s network I made an appointment three days after she was released and I am so happy that I did. The staff is very pleasant and makes my mom feel as if they are family. Doctor Lu was VERY professional while being humorous with mom to ease her fears. Mom has been a patient with Hope Neuro-Acupuncture Rehab for a year and I have seen a progressing outcome with the use of her right hand/arm. I do not feel she would have gotten this far with the in-home care that she was receiving through her medical insurance.Very awesome overall experience!

Every single person there, including Dr. Lu, the physical therapy assistants, and the front desk staff are incredibly kind, friendly, and accommodating. The staff at Hope were very professional and made me feel comfortable on all three of my visits. I did not have to wait long for my treatments. This was my first experience having acupuncture and they made it easy for me. I had a pelvis issue where it was painful to walk or even sit. 3 treatments within 5 days and I was without pain. On the 6th day, I practiced tennis. I was in good hands with Dr. Lu and his skilled staff.

Dr Lu and his staff have been amazing in their attention, compassion and skills. I had never tried acupuncture before and was a bit apprehensive, but he was able address my vertigo in just 1-2 sessions. I also ended up taking my dad there, who had severe vertigo and he was able to help him start recovery in the first session itself. I had a massive stroke in December of 2020. After I was discharged from the hospital, my wife discovered Dr. Lus clinic online. Since then Ive been seeing Dr. Lu regularly. The assistants and staff at the clinic are all so helpful and positive. They make my experience there a lot more fun than my experience at other outpatient clinics such as Valley Med. One time, as I was coming in for my appointment, I could hear the staff and the patients all laughing and having a good time together. I think it is great to have such a cheerful environment during the recovery process. Other clinics are very austere and miserable. Thanks to Dr. Lu and his team I have a lot more control in my arm.

Combining the best-of-practice in physical therapy and acupuncture treatments, Dr. Lu has been taking care of me since late 2020.First was to relieve my lower back pain; later, fully recovered leg/hip movements from a fractured femur. I had a stroke 10 years ago and was going through all different types of therapy to help me recovery. I was working on speech and therapy of my hand so I could ride my motorcycle again and continue with my daily activities. I had the opportunity to attend a Golf 4 Life Event for stroke survivors and that is where I met Kendra, who was running the HOPE Neuro table with all their information for how they treat patients and the progress they see with stroke patients over time. I was intrigued by the approach they had to therapy so I went for an initial assessment with Dr. Lu and have been coming here for therapy ever since. I stopped attending my other therapy sessions because the experiences I had did not seem to be helping me and I enjoyed the exercises and acupuncture at Hopes clinic. Since coming here for therapy I have been improving tremendously thanks to the help of the physical therapy aids on staff. I have been working on extension of my thumb and also trying to learn how to soften my grip so I am able to hold my wife’s hand better. I highly recommend Dr. Lu and his team to anyone who is looking for stroke recovery or treatment overall.

I recently had a lengthy hospital stay for a ruptured brain aneurysm; I requested that opiates not be used for pain management as I wanted zero chance of developing a dependency on painkillers. The hospital care team referred me to Dr. James Lu as a potential candidate for acupuncture for pain relief. The acupuncture treatments primarily focused on back/neck pain; also helped improve balance, sleep, short-term memory, and urinary urgency. I also received physical therapy at Dr. Lu’s clinic.Dr. Lu is professional, friendly, and highly skilled. He listens carefully and communicates in an easy to understand manner. Dr. Lu has been a great asset to my recovery. I developed a frozen shoulder from inactivity after a long stay at a hospital. I really didn’t want to have surgery, so PT was the only other option. Dr. Lu took his time and with a lot of work, got me back to almost 100%.I had a lot of issues with my left arm and hand as well after the stroke. His treatment plan of acupuncture combined with physiotherapy helped me a lot.I’ve been under the care of multiple therapists and Dr. Lu is by far the best; attentive, positive, but pushes me to try harder each session. He finds a good balance between being aggressive but conservative. I’m very happy and glad to have met Dr. Lu and I highly recommend him.

My mom went to the Dr Lus acupuncture rehab center after release from acute rehab from Good Samaritan. She was treated for stroke related problems. The doctor and his staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. After my mom made each improvement, the doctor and staff would make the proper adjustments to the therapy exercises. The doctor worked both acupuncture along with physical therapy for my moms recovery. Their techniques are very helpful and more patients would benefit from it. Ive been under rehab care with Dr. Lu and team for 6 months. Highly recommend this team, especially if you have spinal cord or nerve related recovery needs. My husband suffered a stroke which affected his right side. It was an unknown and scary time for both of us. He was introduced to Dr. Lu at Mission Oaks Acute Rehab Center. Once he was released, we started seeing Dr. Lu with weekly visits to his office. Dr. Lu and his rehab staff are so friendly, positive and encouraging. They are all very knowledgeable when it comes to physical therapy. Each session includes acupuncture followed by physical therapy. My husbands first visit was in a wheel chair and he is now able to walk into the office using a cane, however, he continues to need work on his right arm and hand.The office staff are very accommodating and will go out of their way to schedule appointments around our busy schedule plus they provide weekly reminders of our upcoming appointments.The office is clean and comfortable and the equipment is wiped down after each use. My son plays competitive table tennis, and had won gold medals in Pan America U13 Championships representing USA. Two months ago he sustained a severe shoulder injury which completely sidelined him from all training and competitions. Since his injury, we had seen numerous acupuncturists and physical therapists. However none of the other places we went to were completely satisfactory. Fortunately we found Hope Neuro-Acupuncture Rehab located near our home. I met Dr. Lu when I was a senior in high school and was struggling with tendinitis in my elbow. During that time, I was extremely stressed as this injury occurred in my final year of wrestling. My wife has an auto immune disease called Cerebellar Degeneration. Her antibodies are attacking her cerebellum. Her vision, speech, fine motor skills have been dramatically compromised from this disease. We looked outside of our Primary medical provider & found Dr. Lu. From the initial meeting with Dr. Lu, my wife has improved in virtually every area. My wifes health has been declining for over 5 years. Dr. Lu determined after our consultation that a combination of acupuncture & Physical Therapy would be the best plan to help my wife reach her goals to walk & be able to play & interact with our 5 grandchildren. Dr. Lu has helped improve my wifes fine motor skills, vision, balance & her strength. She is now using her legs & now we feel she may some day be able to use a walker and possibly walk on her own. From having no hope of being able to regain any activity that is controlled by the cerebellum, my wife feels better than she has in many many years. I would highly recommend Dr Lu and his wonderful team in Hope Clinic!While I had to see a doctor urgently with a barely movable left arm, Dr Lu was referred by a dear friend who was a previous patient of Dr Lu. I was impressed by Dr Lus knowledge and his magic ability. He was able to immediately ease some of my major pains and I could have much better mobility with my arm after treatment. Dr Lu explained the possible causes of my pain. He introduced a few useful excises and tools to train my back and arms. After two week of following the excises, I finally felt no pain and my long term back pains have disappeared. I feel so grateful and appreciated since.In addition, I have to mention the pleasant environment and the awesome stuffs, these were the good start to reduce some of my discomfort. My lack of feeling in my feet had progressed to the point where I was seriously questioning my ability to drive safely and was trying to figure ways to cope with that issue, even looking at electric tricycles. I woke up one morning with half of my facial paralyzed. My family doctor told me that I got bells palsy. My friends recommend me to see an acupuncture, and I was very lucky to be referred to Dr James Lu. I had never have acupuncture before, so I was kind of nervous in my first visit. Dr Lu gave me the confident that I can recover with his calm demeanor and clearly layout the treatment plan for me. We first found Dr. Lu when we were searching for alternative rehabilitation treatment options for my 9 year old nephew who had suffered a stroke which left him with limited mobility with his left arm and hand. Within the first few minutes of Dr. Lu treating him with acupuncture, my nephew was able to open his closed fist hand and extend his fingers slowly. Our family was completely stunned and moved to tears. After less than a year he has been able to walk with supervision and has regained some mobility in his left arm and hand. My father had a severe ischemic stroke on the left side of his brain which paralyzed the right side of his body. He was at hospital’s ICU, PCU and acute rehab for almost 12 weeks. He was discharged from hospital on wheelchair with little to no muscle movements. I suffer from hemiplegic migraine where I experience severe a typical migraines and weakness, numbness and during a severe episode paralysis on the right side of my body. I have osteoarthritis in both knees with considerable pain and have previously been prescribed various exercises by four differerent Physical Therapists to strengthen the muscles around the knee. These exercises did not reduce my pain but often increased my pain after doing them.In my first session with Dr. Lu, he reviewed all my symptoms and what I had done to help them over the past few years - including looking at the photos of the knee exercises I had been given previously.Dr. Lu then administered acupuncture on both knees with electrical stimulation. I started to go to Dr. Lu’s clinic from August 2021. I had pain all over my body including neck, back, elbows, hands, legs and feet. I had been struggling with my Kaiser doctors for months being in pain since beginning of the year. I was taking four Gabapentin, Tylenol and using pain patches to be able to sleep. I could barely walk or function as a mom.I have never had acupuncture, but I was desperate so I thought to give it a try by recommendation of my friend. At first treatment Dr. Lu was able to identify a misalignment in my body and fix it. It was MAGICAL!! after the first treatment. I felt so much better. I felt like my whole body has been reset, was even able to take a walk around the block. I was so thrilled with the improvement. After about a month of intensive treatment by Dr. Lu, I was down to only one Gabapentin, no Tylenol nor pain patch. I was able to walk my kid to school on the first day of school which I did not think it was possible a month ago. Who would have thought the curvature of spine can be treated without surgery?I have had scoliosis for most of my adult life. However, the curvature on my spine over the recent years substantially has gotten worse, and was causing severe pain, and inflammation in my neck, thoracic spine, and lumbar vertebras as well as sciatica.The level of pain had gotten so severe that was causing me not to be able to sleep, wake up several times during the night with headaches, and constantly rely on pain medication. I was preparing for possible back surgery.I was referred to Dr. James Lu by a relative and have been a patient of Dr. Lu now for three months. A combination of physical therapy along with acupuncture and related exercises have helped me be pain free again. It is actually straightening the curvature on my spine without needing surgery. I experienced a chronic and nagging issue with my wrist, which originated from a martial arts injury back in 1995. My husband had a stroke and started physical therapy on 5/18. In less than 3 months of therapy here, he gained the ability to walk again. My wife Pearl had a massive stroke on Nov 1, 2021. After two and a half months’ best efforts by her HMO and the Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF), they stopped all treatment on Jan 7, 2022 and said she will be bed-ridden for the rest of her life. (They had hinted this multiple times throughout her stay at the SNF.)However, I cannot let this be my wife’s destiny. I pray continuously for the Lord’s grace and a miracle. On Jan 5, 2022 of Pearl’s outpatient treatment, an RN told me that her best friend, who was also an RN, had a very big stroke at the young age of 46 about 6-7 years ago and was healed by Dr. Lu. This stroke survivor was very gracious and emailed me about her story and her marvelous recovery. Both RNs, and especially the stroke survivor, were the angels sent by God! They were the lights that led me to Dr. Lu!I searched the Internet for clinics that do neuro-acupuncture (dealing with stroke) and rehab, hoping to find one around Sacramento where my home is. To my great surprise, there are only five such clinics in the whole US – two in San Jose, one in LA, one in San Diego and the last one, which does only neuro-acupuncture, in the state of New Mexico! There are not hundreds or thousands of such clinics in the US! There are only five! (And only two such clinics in Canada.) As for the two that are in San Jose area, most of the positive reviews by the stroke survivors/stroke patient care givers were given to Dr. Lu. Why? She and her husband must be genuinely caring for the stroke patients! I must go and see this clinic quickly myself. On Jan 9, I drove 2 hours to go to this place. To my surprise, I not only saw the secretary, but also met Dr. Lu and Phoenix themselves. They quickly assessed Pearl’s condition based on the video clips I showed them. They told me to bring Pearl as soon as possible.The process and procedure to get Pearl released from an SNF was a difficult one, but we get Pearl to Dr. Lu’s clinic on Feb 8. Dr. Lu did an evaluation on Pearl and started the treatment right away. When Pearl started, she had no sense of her left arm and left leg. After a few sessions, she regained her senses. She could sense the touch on her left arm and left leg.Because of Pearl’s massive stroke, she not only was paralyzed on her left side, but also had cognitive loss and character change. She was not the most pleasant patient to be dealt with, to say the least. But Dr. Lu and his assistants were always kind, gracious and tolerant. It is a great understatement to say that they truly care for Pearl. During the past 7-8 weeks of intensive treatment of rehab sessions every day, they were so gracious to Pearl when she was not. Dr. Lu, Phoenix and their excellent assistants were truly angels sent by God to care for Pearl. Now, Pearl can stand on the standing frame and walk a few steps in parallel bars, not by herself, but with 3-4 people’s assistance.With Dr. Lu’s help, Pearl has also recovered some cognitive ability. And now, Pearl has turned positive toward the treatment, especially seeing one of Dr. Lu’s patients stood up from her wheelchair last Saturday (April 2, 2022). I was in a devastating motorcycle accident 4 years ago that left me with traumatic brain injury and physical limitations. Dr Lou team is amazing. I took my husband to see Dr lou back in 2018. He helped my husband to walk again. We took a break for 2 yrs. During Covid Dr lou took the time to call us and see how Eddie is doing. This past December we called Hope up and got right in! They take there time and got to know my husband Eddie who has a TBI. They work hard with him and take the time to stretch him out before he starts therapy. I Highly recommend! I am a hands on person and any questions or anything I want them to work on they do.

I went to see Dr Lu because of the lingering pain of my left shoulder. He performed acupuncture on the affected area and gave me physical therapies in his clinic three times per week for the first few weeks . During the treatment, I could feel the pain on my shoulder was slowly disappearing and at the end of the third week I was able to resume my swimming and cycling without the shoulder pain. I’m a college English teacher. In 2014, had a stroke that left my left side paralyzed. Tried a PT clinic for 3 years without improvement. Then tried the integrative approach at HOPE(combining PT with acupuncture/electro stimulation). In a few months, my paralyzed left hand is moving and I can walk with an AFO on. Doctor Lu, Doctor Yeh(speaks Minnesotan “you betcha”) and Doctor Duong are great acupuncturists. The PTs are friendly( Aaron, Austin, David,Jenmuel) and they supervise bike workouts/walking. If you have had a stroke, I recommend you go to HOPE rehab in Campbell;glad I did. They gave me “hope” that I’ll recover from paralysis and be able to walk/type again (need to type daily lesson plans) like I did before the stroke 8 years ago.Thank you HOPE rehab;love coming to my appointments twice a week. Dr. Lu’s acupuncture has helped me tremendously in being able to sleep through the night without having to constantly wake up to use the bathroom. This has been a recurring problem for the past few years and I struggled with it until I came in for acupuncture! Not only has Dr. Lu helped me with this, but he has also treated me for my hot flashes. Before acupuncture, my hot flashes had been bothering me for almost 10 years so I had my doubts about treatment, but to my surprise, my hot flashes have diminished drastically and I am so grateful for that! Noticeable Improvement from Dr. Lus Post-Stroke Acupuncture! As a 27 year old I was thrown a curve ball and had a stroke, after suffering a TBI. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. I came to HOPE after months of paralyzing migraines as well as chronic pain that weakened my entire body. They treated me first with acupuncture, then added physical therapy. The combination of both is nothing short of genius. In just weeks, my migraines were reduced and I was able to resume a normal life; I also saw a consistent increase in my physical strength to where today I am free to physically do whatever I want. I honestly can’t thank HOPE enough. Beside their knowledge and professionalism, they welcomed me from the second I walked in and made me feel safe and at home. Dr. Lu gave me support with low back pain, neck, and head pain (TBI) from an auto accident, which was further exacerbated by a stroke. Initially over the phone, Dr. Lu accurately recognized both my traumatic brain concussion, and my stroke injury: aphasia. Dr. Lu accurately differentiated my TBI head pain from my stroke symptom, and specifically differentiated my stroke (brain-broca injury) versus other stroke-brain injuries. In his office, Dr. Lu also expanded his care with speech therapy with his staff. Dr. Lu also frequently checked my symptom improvement with both my low-back pain acupuncture needles and my speech improvement while I was there. Dr. Lu, Phoenix, and their staff were top-notch in their attention and skills. With Dr. Lu, I felt like I was in excellent hands.

I have to work with my laptop for more than 10 hours every day, so I easily get pain on my neck, shoulder and lower back. Ok...now that my major stroke victim mom is now WALKING. I can share our secret and the MAGIC of Dr. Lu.I have been quietly keeping him a secret because i didnt want him to get too busy! (Yes, Im selfish)My mom had a major stroke. She couldnt talk, sit, walk, or swallow-she rven had a surgical feeding tube. Dr. Lu got her to walk the FIRST time he saw her.I took my mom to see Dr. Lu a few months after her stroke.Rolled her in her wheelchair, feeding tube removed only a week before. Recently learned how to swallow, speak, and sit using conventional methods...we thought that was as good as it getsHe saw her, examined her, smiled and said ok, get up. You can walk!Of course i looked at him in disbelief, and my mom a as yelling i CANT, LOOK. Completely angry because she was afraid she would fall.He strapped her PT belt on and said look around. Hope Neuro Acupuncture and PTI have C5 palsy (cannot lift my left arm at all) after my C3-C7 Posterior Cervical Decompression and Fusion (PCDF) surgery. My surgeon recommended acupuncture and physical therapy. I researched within 30 miles radius from my home in Fremont and found only a handful of clinics that does both especially Neuro acupuncture (needles on the scalp that stimulate the central nervous system) which is different from traditional acupuncture (needles at pressure points topically). Hope does all three (stimulating the brain centrally, the neck and arm topically and PT). That is why I picked Hope to do my rehab.Dr Lu and his team of rehab assistants are very attentive to my symptoms/concerns and address my issues with appropriate acupuncture and PT. They are very flexible, listen to my issues and work on me accordingly. I have made substantial progress but I injured my thumb about a month ago at home with over exertion/compensation and have to modify the PT routines, which sets me back a while. I shall make better and faster progress once my hand/wrist (tendonitis) completely heals.Dr Lu and his team creates a disciplined but also fun atmosphere which makes the hard work of PT (pain and torture) more tolerable. Most of the rehab assistants are also athletes and they understand my issues very well.I plan to continue my treatment at Hope and hope for a complete recovery in time, obviously sooner than later.All the staff are fully covid vaccinated including boosters and covid protocol is followed.
