A great place for contemporary southern style chicken, sides and desserts! Rotating selection of side dishes some of which are vegetarian. I had the chicken sandwich (amazing!) and a side of chipotle macaroni salad which was also incredible. The desserts like the banana pudding pie are also a sure thing and all portions are generous.

I like the food here, but the attitude of the main guy behind the counter? I don’t understand- Bruh…you are running a restaurant, and while food is important there is a reason why every food review platform in the universe has a rating category entitled service. If you can’t be the least bit courteous than take park your grumpy self in the back where customers don’t have to worry about offending you by placing an order and providing you with their credit card.

Very good food! Helpful, and knowledgable staff. We got the 8 piece family pack (feeds 2-3).Great packaging, and tasty food. We had a follow up question regarding ingredients after we got home; the staff was well trained and well informed. They were able to guide us immediately. It should be noted that the Mac and cheese, and the fried chicken do contain eggs. We got the mash, and collard greens. All were solid!Clean and modern interior. Kind and attentive staff. Pretty quick form order to ready for take out!Parking in the rear (small lot), or curbside out front (on foothill).Clear deli style view of the sides.

This is one of those original fried chicken places, before you can get fried chicken in every corner. They serve crispy chicken, sides, sandwiches and mighty good pies. The collard greens and Mac and cheese are pretty delicious. The chipotle macaroni salad has a nice kick and the watermelon salad is light and refreshing. The bacon and chive biscuits come with a sweet butter and is one of the best biscuits I’ve ever had.

Honeybird has been on my list for over a year. I’mSo glad we tried it finally. It’s a super casual and cute cafe with a good menu of fried chicken and soutgwe style food.I got the Honeybird classic sandwich and my husband got the three peice with potatoes and Collard greens.We both left full and satisfied.Nice ambience and customer service too! Fair prices and it was yum!

Had the breakfast burrito with dark chicken. The burrito and the sauce and salsa it comes with were incredible. My wife had the fried chicken and my son the Mac and cheese. They both said it was really good.

I came here with the hopes I could get a decent breakfast. This place makes some of the best fried chicken I’ve had since my granny’s kitchen! It’s so crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The spice level is perfect! Not too salty, which I love. It’s great adding some hot sauce to spice it up. Their mac n cheese is so bomb and cheesy, and their salad are refreshing. It’s def hipster, but if you can get past that, come here for a breath of fresh air!

Ordered a chicken breast, 6 loaded biscuits, and a chicken sandwhich. Everything was great! This was my first time trying soul food, and I dont know how authentic it is but it was definitely delicious!! And the banana cream pie was to die for.Chicken was flavorful and juicy, and all the sides we tried were top notch. Staff was also super friendly. Cant wait to come again!Edit: Im leaving my original review up, but upon a second visit I had to lower the rating because I was served undercooked chicken and it made me sick. It was clearly pink in the middle but I didnt think it would be a big deal since I trusted them to cook correctly, and I never get sick, but I should have trusted my gut.The staff was also pretty rude this time around. We came in about 7:30p and they took our orders as if we were inconveniences as they were trying to clean up and close early. Around 8 it was apparent they wanted us out to finish closing even though they didnt close for another 30 minutes. We felt rushed to leave and couldnt even enjoy our desert there.It sucks that this experience has made me not want to visit again for a good while.

Do you like spicy crispy chicken sandwiches? If so, you got to try this place. The restaurant has a casual setting, is clean, and brightly lit. Honeybird has two locations. A great spot to have lunch!::Food::People come here for their famous HoneyBird sandwich. It is made with crispy boneless chicken thigh, pickled chilies, tomato, pimento cheese, and toasted Brioche Bun. If you want spicy, ask for The Firebird! You can also get the spicy sauce on the side. I was surprised to also like the Phil Lee O Fish. This sandwich has crispy whitefish, pickles, tomato, shredded cabbage, and lemon dill aioli. I also tried the two-piece chicken meal served with two sides; nothing special though. Their sides are tasty, I recommend the Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Collard Greens, Mac N Cheese, and the Honeybird House salad.::Desserts::Ive tried the Banana Cream and Chocolate Hazelnut Bread Pudding Pie. I love coming to honey bird for their delicious fried chicken and their sides. Today I had the chipotle Mac salad, the watermelon salad and the amazingly wonderful cheddar biscuits. Everything was absolutely delicious and the flavors compliment each other. The chicken is so moist and tender inside even the white chicken breast it is so tender and so juicy. The staff are so pleasant, friendly and very efficient. If you are hungry for fried chicken, I highly recommend you drive out of your way to come to this place!

Update; we’ve been going for six years and it’s still just as good. My fiancé and I had been craving fried chicken for months. We had seen Honeybird on google maps and decided to give it a try. It was absolutely delicious. The chicken is not greasy and it has the perfect flavor. Everything that they combined in the sandwich made the flavor pop and the spicy honey sauce is Amazing. We will be back for more and to try their pie. Also, the prices are more than reasonable.

Honestly, this place is just OK. There are great fried chicken places everywhere, and Honeybird just doesnt stand out. The concept has just been done over and over, but other places are better at it. Nothing stood out. The mashed potatoes were rather bland, and the chicken was nothing special. I do have to say that the food seems to be good quality. Something about it tastes healthier and cleaner. Like the mashed potatoes had a lot of garlic but not much salt, and the chicken didnt make me feel like I had to pre-check into an ER. Also the service is like McDonalds - you basically do everything yourself, which is fine, but asking for tips starting at 15% seemed like a lot. Ill know that for if I ever go back. Their desserts sound delicious though - maybe I will swing by again to try those.

We happened to be in the area around lunch time and found this place. It was so good!!! Not a huge place but plenty of seating. We ordered The Honeybird and The Firebird and also the Kid at Heart Grilled Cheese for our daughter. For our sides we gor the mashed potatoes and Cole Slaw. The portions were not small at all and everything was delicious. We also got their Seasonal Sweet Tea and a Make it a Palmer which both were very good. Between the cleanliness of the restaurant, the great service and nice vibe of the place well definitely be coming back again.

Nice clean and quaint restaurant in La Canada. I had the Honeybird Sandwich and the house salad. I thought the food was good and something I would return for, but the chicken while moist, didnt excited the taste buds as much as some other local chicken restaurants that Ive had. Nonetheless, it was still tasty. I will say the brussel sprouts was really good. Additionally, the banana cream pie was very good. I will come here again.

The price-per-capita ratio is pretty generous. The firebird burger is the classic, and it’s a lot more filling than expected. A side of garlic mashed potato or the chipotle macaroni salad hits the spot, but you don’t need it if you just want a quick lunch.

Mmmm. I had the pleasure to dine here again. The kids loved the Mac and cheese. Theyre known for their wonderful fried chicken (light and crispy exterior with juicy meat). I’m addicted to the Shrimp Grits and Collard Greens. The shrimp grits feature nice big shrimp with mushrooms amidst a background of creamy grits. It’s not spicy, but has a nice warmth to it.

Hands down the best battered fish sandwich I have ever had. Every ingredient worked together to make this perfect fish filet sandwich.The fish is evenly battered with a crispy outside and a tender, juicy inside. The lemon dill aioli is something I’ve never had before, but now so glad that I’ve had it. Surrounded by pickles and tomato and sandwiched together by a soft potato bun, this sandwich is nothing short of perfection.Highly recommend

My husband went three times this week because he had work in the area. So I wanted to try it out for myself, and we had my mom mewt us there. Firebord chicken sammie had a nice kick to it, he had the shrimp poboy. Mac n cheese, garlic mashed potatos, balsamic brussel sprouts with pork belly, i think, and coleslaw were enjoyed by all. The bread pudding pie was delicious but what would put it over the top would be a nice whiskey sauce to go over it. Well definitely be back!

I had been wanting to try their chicken for a long time and finally got some takeout. The first piece I had (wing) was amazing. Second piece (breast) was not cooked thoroughly. There was still blood in the vein and pretty raw near the bone. You would think that they’d know what they’re doing since they’ve been open a while. After sharing the photos with family and friends, someone else said they experienced the same thing when they opened. Definitely won’t be dining with them again.

The biscuits are incredible! You have to eat them with the special butter they give you. And that is why I give Honeybird 5 stars. I am not a fan of fried chicken, however theirs was very good. The coating was not too heavy so you could still really taste the wonderfully crispy skin. The cole slaw was just ok, lacked flavor.

Terrific fish burgers and fried chicken. It can be a bit salty, but so juicy. All their sides are also delicious. Our group ordered fried chicken, Phil Lee ofish burger, shrimp polenta, garlic mashed potatoes, biscuits, broccoli salad, cabbage colesaw, iced tea, and hot tea. This is my go-to fried chicken spot and the La Canada and La Crescenta area, and most of San Gabriel Valley. The chicken is always crisp and perfect, and I know they are going for a southern feel but a lot of the size are more modern, like roasted brussel sprouts and some of the salad options. If you havent tried them, the pies are amazing here! I always get the chocolate red pudding which can probably be a bit dry when the people think of pie, but its perfect in my opinion. Get it every time!

Likes:- Cafeteria style ordering- great chicken. Its super juicy and warm. Dont try to eat it right away! The batter seasoning hits all the right notes- collard greens are very tasty.- desserts are excellent. We tried the bread pudding (raisins not included) and banana cream pie- the Mac and cheese is very tasty and easily on our revisit list. It looks basic but has a very good flavor and texture.- lemonade is very refreshing- abundant parkingDislikes:- no fountain drinks (Coke products available in can)- biscuits are okay. We really dont need bacon in biscuits. I would suggest a more traditional recipe thats friendly with folks that avoid pork when possible. You can also see that they arent as fresh as other places. They are made and sit on racks, ready to go, but not warm and fresh out the oven- seems like they should just offer real flatware instead of plastic utensils. I know its extra cleaning, but its always much nicer to eat with and handle the chicken with. Youll also earn points for being a little greener.I definitely want to try the chicken sandwich next time

Im not much of a fried chicken person, but I LOVE the chicken at Honeybird. Sometimes I get the honey bird sandwich (Its boneless, fried chicken and if you dont want it too spicy, get it without the slaw and peppers). Right now, Im there once or twice a week cause I crave the sandwiches! Sometimes I get the fried chicken and put honey on it! They have lots of honey bears to use. And the biscuits! Really good. They are the savory kind, but still really good. They usually have garlic mash potatoes, mac & cheese, and other yummy stuff. The place is clean and casual. Parking a bit tough, but you can always park on the street, a little walk isnt bad.

Fried chicken was pretty good! My son enjoyed his shrimp po boy but felt it shouldnt be called a po boy (cuz it wasnt)! The collards were seriously undercooked! Lastly, please stop calling shells with cheese sauce macncheese cuz its not! If you are going to charge me $6 for mac-n-chz at least put real cheese in it! Guess 3Stars is generous?!?!? The chicken was good. It was seasoned well. I personally had the chicken sandwich and I thought it was delicious. I really liked the pickled chiles. I also had the chipotle macaroni salad that was very good. I tried their biscuits, they came a sweet honey butter that was delicious. I will say the biscuits were a little expensive for ($5 for 2). They also had a pie for $32. I thought was kinda high. I would still recommend this place all of that aside.

Honeybirds chicken is crispy, juicy, and tasty. What I also like us that they have very good sized chickens unlike other places that use what looks like malnourished pieces. Their garlic mashed potatoes is also very good (my favorite), nice flavor and the garlic is not overpowering. I also liked their roasted couliflower even though Im not a vegetable loving vegan or vegetarian because it was seasoned well. But between and you i wouldnt mind ordering it again. Overall, great place for fried chicken and ready to come back for some more.

Excellent comfort food, reminding me of the best fried chicken of the South. Chicken and waffles are an excellent choice, combining sweet with savory. The French toast is more like a huge slice of cake, which my toddler ate in its entirety (a rarity). The wait times are long during the Saturday lunch hour, and the food for our party did not come all together. Still, the food made the inconvenience worthwhile. Probably better for smaller groups.

Fried chicken was delicious as were the sides. Mashed potato was very garlicky and lots of bacon in the collard greens! Price was very fair compared to similar chicken places like Popeyes KFC El Pollo Loco etc, but doesnt feel like you are eating fast food. Staff are friendly and restaurant is clean, bright and inviting. Only downside to this place is limited parking. It shares a lot with Panda Express and is constantly full.

All of the items o listed were delicious. The chicken is different tasting which I loved. Also, their Mac n cheese was definitely set apart from others with the shells they use and the crust they have on top of it. Lastly, the staff was super nice and friendly. Id highly recommend this place for anybody looking for soul food or just to try something different. As a caveat it is a little pricey but in my opinion totally worth it.

The chicken at this place is SOLID. I found that you may be better off ordering a la carte, since the combos include 2 or more sides from the sides list which do not include the brussels sprouts which are fantastic, or the mac and cheese, which I have yet to try.The biscuit is great as well. Would be more comfortable paying a bit less for a single biscuit but it is worth trying at least once.Will definitely try to make regular visits to this restaurant. I would recommend bringing your own wet wipes as you will likely need them.

Fried chicken is one of those classic comfort foods that is so good that if I had to chose a single food for my last meal, it would be on the top of my list. Fried chicken isnt practical to eat everyday unfortunately, otherwise I would probably eat daily. So you could say I have a love for fried chicken. Honeybird is located next door to the Panda Express in an unassuming white building and could easily be missed. We arrived there around 3:30 in the afternoon on a Friday and there was only two people in the whole place. We ordered the regular Honeybird and Freebird sandwich combos and had them cut in half so that we could try both of them. I ordered for my side the coleslaw and it was ok but not memorable. Honeybird knows their stuff when it comes to fried chicken. I recently been on a mission searching for the perfect chicken sandwich in the southern California area. Loved Howlin Rays for what it is, being a Nashville hot chicken joint. Tried Crack Shack recently and wasnt impressed at all. I also tried many mom and pop locales that have been popping up everywhere. My search may be over. I tried the Honeybird and Freebird sandwiches and both were delicious! They give you a side of honey mustard along with your sandwiches that adds to the flavor but without it, it would still be delectable. The flavor from the herbs and spices is out of this world, I believe they use dark meat for the chicken sandwiches which is something very different from the rest of the pack. The Freebird had the perfect amount of heat without overpowering the flavor of the chicken. The sandwiches were so good that I had to put in another order for just their fried chicken. I had to confirm if my taste buds were telling me the truth or if I was just really hungry. It was true. I ordered single breast and you can tell that it was brined because it was flavorful, moist and juicy throughout. I have a sister whos moving away from La Canada soon and admitted that the only reason she would be coming back to the area would be for Honeybird and I can see why.
