I can’t say enough great things about this team. Not only did they immediately jump on a listing within an hours of taking us on his clients they insured that we received the best and most carefully thought-out rental agreement for our large family, with our safety and interest in mind.It is not easy to rent these days, particularly when you have interesting credit profiles, large families, divorces behind you. Jim was able to navigate everything like a pro and make our lives so much easier. We are so grateful for him and our new home. Jim and Darlene are fabulous realtors and so knowledgeable when selling our home and buying our new home. We had been in our home for 47 years and my husband and I were in our 70’s. We wanted to move closer to our grandchildren in Ventura County. This was a very big move for us and it was in 2020 when Covid was effecting everyone. Jim and Darlene staged our home, took pictures of our home with no disruptions to our daily life . Their recommendations for service companies did excellent work and were vey professional. You definitely want Jim and Darlene on your side when you go to buy a house. We were first time home buyers trying to buy a home across the country, because we are a military family and received new orders to an area we home to retire in.Jim and Darlene were so patient and kind, knowing that this was our first time buying and that we wanted to be very intentional about where we bought, especially since the market is nuts right now.We found a few houses that we were ready to see and so I booked a flight out and they had lined up several homes, in addition to the ones wed found so that we could see all of the different areas in the city we were looking to buy in. They worked around our schedule and made sure we saw everything we were hoping to see. I even extended my stay because another house (the one we ended up buying) was becoming available and Jim and Darlene reworked their schedule so that I could see it.Once our offer was excepted, there were some crazy circumstances that came about as a result of things the seller was doing, but Jim and Darlene helped guide us through all of it and made the process so smooth and as stress free as possible for buying a house.They were very easy to get a hold of when we had questions and they were always willing to help us understand something or to talk us through options that came up as we were dealing with different contingencies.I cannot recommend Jim and Darlene enough when it comes to buying a home.We are so incredibly thankful for all they did for us and for making our first experience such a pleasant and successful one.**Also, on a side note, despite this crazy market, we made two different offers on two different homes, and with Jim and Darlenes help, both offers ended up being accepted. If you’ve ever done a relo, they’re pretty stressful - typically one week to find a house, and you have to trust that your realtor isn’t in it just for the guaranteed commission. Jim and Darlene sold our first home in Moorpark almost 30 years ago and we were impressed with them the moment we met them. They are not only top notch realtors who know the business inside and out, they are very decent and caring individuals. When we were moving out of state and the moving van was already on its way - I realized in all the bustle of packing, I had forgotten to remove wooden shelves from my kitchen that had been handmade by my father. Jim and Darlene were patient for about three or four years keeping me posted on current values for my condo in T.O. Finally I contacted them when I wanted out of CA. Jim went over selling as is vs updating. We decided updating would be the best benefit for me. I had already left CA so he directed and advised me of the progress. Lets just say it made a huge difference on the sales price and doubled the cost of the repairs and updating. I was in AZ while he did all of the coordination of the repairs and improvements. Ive known Jim and Darlene for nearly 15 years and have worked with them on ALL my real estate needs. From purchasing my first home ever to purchasing my first home with my wife to even rental needs. Ive stuck with Jim and Darlene because they do things the right way for their clients AND, more importantly, are just all-around decent people who truly care about your personal needs and want to protect you as well. For example... my wife and I found a rental home a few years back and Jim helped us get all our things in order to sign on. Upon reviewing the contract, Jim found an unnecessary and unfair addendum in the proposed contract that stated something to the effect of us having to be responsible for more than our fair share of property damage risks. Jim advised us that this clause was outside of standard and a potential overreach. After the renter insisted on the clause, we backed out and eventually found a property that suited our needs as we prepared to start a family together. The Holbrooks have also worked above and beyond for us, especially when it came to finding our family house to purchase last year. They took the time to explain to me and my wife (who was a first-time buyer) all the paperwork required and any watch-outs throughout the home search and home-buying process. We met Jim at an open house that we wandered in to and were immediately impressed by him. He gave us his contact info and promised not to bug us and stuck to his word (not like those used car salesman tactics that we ran into so many times). As soon as we were ready to go look at a place, he jumped to it and got us right in. From that point on through the purchasing of the house he made sure all questions were answered and Ts were crossed, which was important as first-time buyers. Now weve been there for almost a year and he continues to check in on us and make sure everything is good. So glad we happened to run into and meet him before we had made any moves.
