We enthusiastically recommend Derek and Hirano Homes to anyone entering the market. We dreaded the thought of selling in the current market and economy but they made the process virtually painless. Our priorities in selecting a realtor were finding someone we could trust, who would look out for our best interest, would minimize our stress and given the market conditions, a skilled negotiator.We found it easy to put our faith in Derek because he is a dedicated, conscientious, honest professional with friendly personality which made him a pleasure to work with. He listened to our input and questions then provided sound advice, realistic expectations, helped us make informed decisions and did this in a supportive way, without pressure.Derek was able to expertly address all issues that popped up minimizing the burden on us, so we were able to easily negotiate the path from preparing for sale to close of escrow. He took the lead to help us get estimates, evaluate cost/benefit tradeoffs and was prepared to personally support whatever upgrades and repairs were needed to get the house prepped for sale. Ultimately, we decided to sell as is which, all things considered, was the right decision. Knowledge and experience reading buyers and agents proved valuable in evaluating offers, counter offers and negotiating the purchase agreement and escrow instructions.Our confidence in Derek was rewarded because he was proactive throughout the process - regular communication, providing insight and information, keeping all elements of the transaction on track - so we were essentially stress free. Derek Hirano was professional, courteous, and responsive throughout the whole process. He took his time to answer all of our questions and always made us feel that we were important to him. His team also did a fantastic job of creating a really nice listing of our home. During the selling process, we had experienced some communication challenges with our HOA management company. He went above and beyond to help remove those roadblocks so that we could continue with the selling process while sticking to the timeline as closely as possible. We can’t say enough great things about Derek. If you want excellent customer service, he is your man. We highly recommend Derek!

My fiancé and I were referred to Derek through a friend. We initially did an introduction zoom call with Derek to get to know each other, and discuss budget, timeline, and what we were looking for in a home. He also offered recommendations for lenders, one of whom we ultimately selected to provide our mortgage.Derek eventually connected us with our buying agent, Mia, who acted as our primary point of contact for the remainder of the process. Mia demonstrated a thorough understanding of the South Bay market, was consistently and easily reachable, and provided honest opinions on neighborhoods and properties based on our preferences.Derek and Mia made our first time home buying experience smoother than we expected and we couldnt have purchased the property we found without their guidance and expertise. I was referred to Dereks firm by a friend, and I could not have asked for a better team to work with - Derek and Mia were diligent, friendly, communicative, and always felt like they had my best interests in mind.As a first-time buyer I came into the process with a lot of uncertainty, but Mia did a great job of helping me to understand the home-buying process as a whole, and was always available to answer any questions and concerns that I had. I have nothing but positive things to say about my experience working with Derek and Mia of Hirano Homes. My wife and I were able to find our forever home in La Mirada, and we couldnt have done it without Derek and Mia. I mean literally could not have done it. We had our offer accepted over other higher offers because Mia gave up her Sunday morning (on Super Bowl Sunday no less!) and drove out to an open house we liked to scope it out and chat with the selling agent.From the opening zoom consultation all the way through until we finally got the keys to our new place, Derek and Mia were there every step of the way to answer all of our questions and provide helpful information without ever being too pushy. They helped talk us through different scenarios and options for selling our current place and how that would impact our buying experience. When we went to open houses, Mia would come too (which one of the selling agents told us does not happen very often), and helped point out things we might not have noticed. When we were ready to put in offers, they would send us a report of comparable homes so that we knew the offer we were thinking of made sense. Once we opened escrow, they set up a timeline outlining all the key events and dates, from inspections to removal of contingencies to final walkthrough.All in all, Derek and Mia are so great to work with. They are both so friendly and personable while also bringing a great deal of knowledge and experience about all things real estate. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to buy or sell!

Derek was wonderful from the beginning until the sale was finalized. I actually contacted Derek. He was not one of the many realtors that reached out to me after seeing my brothers probate case. My brother passed away in California and where I live in Ohio, Derek made this process extremely accommodating. With the many questions that I had he was always very quick and kind to answer. My wife and I were referred to Derek by a friend who had worked with him to buy their home a handful of years back, and we are so glad we decided to work with him and Mia!As we started our search as prospective first-time homebuyers, Derek and Mia were really great out of the gate, answering our questions and helping us refine our own understanding of our needs and wants so that we could assess properties with focus and confidence throughout our search. We are somewhat indecisive people in general and it took us a bit to build up this skill, but Derek and Mia were consistently patient, communicative, and upfront with their perspective.Unsurprisingly, 2023 was not a great year to be searching for a home. But despite our search lasting over a year Derek and Mia stuck with us through it all with the same degree of care and enthusiasm as when we had first started.Anytime we made an offer, they were transparent with any concerns but always reaffirmed their support to help us do what we wanted to do. They struck a great balance here for us -- we didnt want to succumb to paying more for any property than we thought it was worth (despite so many other buyers doing it) even if it meant being on the hunt for longer, and it was great that we never felt resistance or pressure to compromise on this goal.Escrow was also a breeze due to being prepped in advance regarding forms to expect and timelines to follow. They were very organized and it made things flow as smoothly as we couldve hoped leading up to closing.Long story short: these two are great at what they do, they know the South Bay really well, and they are great folks who I am so glad were a part of this milestone in our lives. Key takeaway: First time home buying can be scary but with Derek and Mia by our side, it is a breeze.We started working with Derek and Mia to find a home for our growing family after receiving several recommendations from friends. We did not know much about what we were doing or what we wanted initially into but luckily, they educated us along the way and provided very helpful recommendations at every step.In addition, their responsiveness to our questions (we had A LOT) at all hours of the day and patience was very impressive! They also have a good balance of strong attention to detail and welcoming presence that gave us peace of mind.While in escrow, we encountered several unfortunate events with other parties associated with the deal. Derek and Mia managed these issues with proactivity, professionalism and our interests at heart. We randomly reached out to Derek after finding him on Yelp. We weren’t from the area, couldn’t really define what we were looking for and since we didn’t know the area, where we even wanted to look. He was unfazed.He asked good questions about our lifestyle and needs and recommended a few areas to check out. Oh, we also couldn’t tell him a timeframe. This would be a second home, so we would maybe buy something sometime someday. He was unfazed.He put us on his mailing list and over the course of A YEAR we’d randomly reach out to him every once in awhile to ask about a place. Or he’d reach out to us just to see how we were doing. Never pressure. Just checking in. Although he had no idea if we’d ever buy a house, or if we were even real(we had only “met” over the phone), or if he was completely wasting his time, he was consistently helpful and unfazed by our on again off again interest in a home purchase.As one does, we went from no real demonstrated interest in seriously buying a home, to frantically calling Derek one Sunday afternoon. “DEREK! We found the perfect place in Redondo Beach. There’s another offer. Can we put in an offer tonight!?!”And that’s where Derek’s skill and experience really kicked in. Although he wasn’t nearby, he made time that afternoon to go look at the place, talk to the seller’s Realtor, and help advise us on next steps. From there, Derek’s reputation with other area Realtors also paid off. He was already known to the seller’s Realtor which helped us compete with the other offer, as the seller’s Realtor knew any transaction with Derek would be smooth and trouble free. And it absolutely was. We love our new townhome in Redondo Beach and now consider Derek a friend.

From the very first call with Derek, I knew that we were in good hands. He and Mia were amazing at guiding me and my fiance through the home buying process. We wouldnt have found our new home without him! (he literally brought us to our home on a weekend of other showings we picked out ourselves). Once we were ready to put in our offer, they answered all our questions and worked directly with our lender to ensure that everything went smoothly. And when we needed more inspections than initially anticipated, they were quick to schedule those for us as well.Throughout the entire journey, Derek and Mia were responsive and incredibly supportive.
