I wanted to thank Kristian Torres from the front desk he was very nice and pleasant to welcome us in and made it easy process for us to check in as we came from a different state driving and we were all girls. He helped us to check in early gave us a nice room with a nice view we loved it, then he called us and gave us a free breakfast for Easter Sunday was so nice of him. He is amazing and hopefully we will come back soon and I already became a member of the Hilton. They had great service from A-to-Z. Bellman was funny and very nice and helpful. He recommended places for us people. Room service were very fast and they kept our room clean and neat also, I want to thank the Valet people they were very nice Got my car quickly and no problems. Specially, on a rainy day.Thank you all

The hotel is generally fine for a business trip, but the “resort” is in name only. If you are Hilton diamond I recommend staying away from this hotelPositives:+ in a nice area, pretty quiet all around+ grounds are well kept+ some staff were very nice, especially the folks at the restaurantNegatives:- not the service you’d expect at the resort. Valet is too busy chatting with each other and won’t volunteer to help with bags- the resort fee doesn’t provide anything of value. Who wants more water bottles when you already get 2 as a diamond?- most rooms don’t have a view of a pool or beach- rooms are dark with lots of older furniture. Same for shower (there isn’t a bathtub in standard rooms)- free diamond breakfast is just the cold buffet. You have to pay another $20 to get hot foods on the buffet (basics like eggs, potatoes, sausages)

Without a doubt, this is a spectacular location. Beautiful view, close to all the biomedical and research organizations. Golf is close. Its a bit far from downtown if thats your thing.Rooms are tired. For an upscale property, it is showing signs of wear. Basic Hilton room at resort pricing.Staff are Hilton quality and pleasant and helpful. Restaurant service was very good. The food was ok.I hope the do a little refresh on the facility. It is my go to hotel because of the proximity to business and the beautiful grounds.

Ever go to a restaurant and they immediately bring out fresh warm excellent bread… Eight out of 10 times the food is wonderful!When we arrived at the Hilton at Torrey Pines, the bell Captain Mr. Rich Woods greeted us. Mr. Woods was extremely professional, polite, accommodating, had a wonderful sense of humor that meshed well with not only myself and my wife, but also my nine and 13-year-old boys. He remembered all of our names.. when we passed the lobby and asked if he could assist with anything at all every time. While the hotel is a strong eight considering location… Affectionately we called him Richy as if he as part of our family… Richy made it a solid 10 from start to finish. I stayed at Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines for one night. The parking and resort fee added $100 to the nightly charge, for a property that really doesnt have any amenities. The resort fee offers various discounts and savings but only if you read the fine print.The hallways and property overall are very dated. The rooms are slightly more modern but I would not recommend staying at this property. Without the Hilton name or HHonors program I am certain this property would rent for half of what it does per night.Do yourself a favor and stay a little away from here and save yourself some hassle.

Beautiful golf course and atmosphere.Rooms a bit datedShower amenities empty all week: every amenity is $$$$, no complimentary niceties like other hotels.cheap host hotels for our large (>150 ppl) corporate event all week.CHEAP in terms of what they provide, one large coffee carafe for all day event, no bottle water just large pitchers that get warm by the afternoon)Atmosphere beautiful but not convenient in terms of walking to places, construction going on, get water, snacks, if you plan to stay here or go to another hotel that does offer some things.Guest services, bartenders, wait staff are a credit to the establishmentYes, PGA golf course with exceptional views and on site restaurant$$$ ; however, I wont be booking here next time

Do not stay here. Save your money and go somewhere else. Faucets leak and have gross build up. Rooms are old and dingy. Staff is rude and uncooperative. I am a Hilton Honors member and have stayed at many of their properties across the world. This is by far the worst. Their location is amazing and the property is great. But the rooms are really bad and not worth the price

Great location and ambiance. Right by the torrey pines golf course and UCSD. The hotel doesnt have direct access to the beach but the torrey pines hike is walking distance from the hotel. This is a fairly easy and beautiful hike to the beach with gorgeous views of the ocean.

Great location. Have to pay for parking ($40/ day) but I’m assuming it because they get a lot of golf course traffic.The Starbucks is open laters than most hotels I’ve stayed at which was clutch. The bar and restaurant were nice.The hallways and rooms are pretty beat up tho. Bathrooms don’t have a fan so the moisture from taking a shower made the whole room damp. Not a terrible experience it didn’t feel like 4stars more like a giant best western

Whoever is keeping David the manager employed here has no idea how incompetent he is or they just dont care. He is rude, condescending and small. Also If you book a golf course view, you are not going to get a golf course view. So dont pay extra for that. Also you are going to get scammed $25/day per person on top of whatever you pay on Expedia. They call it a destination fee. Lastly, the rooms are just nasty. See the photos. Dont give your hard earned money to this business.I know they are going to write an apologetic sounding response to this, but why even bother. We know its fake and you dont mean any of it.

Mediocre hotel not worth the 4 stars! The room was quite dated and things were falling apart! Tried using the shower gel in the bathroom just one day and it fell off! Called the front desk to come repair, they came with another shower gel instead! Realized their mistake and said they’d get someone else to come fix who never came! Carpet was tired looking, bathroom parts looked rusted it was just not the standard I expected from a Hilton! Restaurant food was expensive and uninspiring! Check in was atrocious super long lines with very slow movement! For a resort I’ve paid less for more at far superior places! Wouldn’t stay again!

Booked a two queen bed room. Room was pleasant and spacious. The location of this hotel is quite distant, away from any major food options so you will likely be driving or using rideshare; much of the area is near research institutions, some affiliated with UCSD. The balcony view out to the sea is fine depending where your room is. Parking structure is located next to the hotel, plenty of spaces to park. The interior of the hotel from lobby to the hallways still feels like a moment in time, somewhat antiquated and reminiscent of the 90s.

Great Property, shabby managementWith a view on the golf course and the Ocean, the property is wonderland. If you have to stay, unfortunately, you have to deal with the management at the Hilton.They promised things that do not exist such as the yoga class or any other classes.They have hidden costs such as a $53 mandatory fitness center fee which actually give you a low-quality glass of wine per day and nothing else.They have a bad supply in the bedroom - no cup for the toothbrush, no cottom swab, no bathrobe.My husband and I plus a friend came here for Memorial Day weekend. At the check in they had lost our booking (they had registered us under my name and not my family name) and they had missed the fact we wanted two bedrooms. It took us 40 minutes to get registered! they wanted us to pay the $53 fees extra per day plus $40 for the parking lot, adding $94/day to the bill. They were unpleasant - and yes our little terrace has no seats.If you are interested in a holiday here I suggest you to check out the neigbouring competitor which is called the Lodge.

The room was mediocre, wasn’t upgraded and very dated. Scenic view but extremely basic for a 4-star hotel. Front desk staff was helpful, but their leadership is terrible. Assistant GM David is absolutely horrible to engage wit. Virtually non-communicative. Called him 4 times as they charged me a regular room rate instead of my corporate travel rate that I clearly had receipts for via my company’s travel service. He would not honor it even though the info was emailed to him. We had multiple text exchanges and he basically ghosted me. Still have the emails and text messages. He said he’d get back to me multiple times and just disappeared. I’m not sure how someone with that complete lack of transparency and communication could be in that position where customer service is the foundation of your position. Their prices are definitely 5 - Star, but that service comes up extremely short. Completely disappointed in the leadership staff.

Overall, service was good and friendly staff. Few issues I noticed . One was at the checking at the lobby where the person managing my checking process didnt provide any direction and information about the place. Second,They have mandatory vouchers that they charge to my room for daily drinks (2 beers or 2 wines per day). Room was nice and clean. However, Parking is super expensive $40 / day for my standard.

Ive never had anything short of an amazing experience at Hilton Hotels, and my stay at La Jolla Torrey Pines absolutely continued the trend! I would highly recommend staying here or at any Hilton location.I would like to especially thank Richard from the banquet staff, for helping me with my food allergies during my stay this past week. He made my stay more comfortable and assisted me when I was unsure of what was safe for me at each meal!

Would be nice to have some more complementary items like free coffee or breakfast— even a microwave. Paying for everything a la carte. Far better than a 4.1 rating.

A wonderful and luxurious stay, right on the beach. Rooms are spacious, beds are firm and comfortable, and the bathroom and the shower are also updated and larger than average hotels. We also used the valet for parking, a very nice convenience and accommodation for older guests. We also ate in the hotels restaurant in our week-long visit twice, both delicious meals were served well and promptly with excelent and attentive service. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines.

This hotel has become my new go-to when in the San Diego area. Its a convenient location and the staff is always friendly. I always feel safe staying here, which is why I keep coming back. My only gripe is that the rooms do need to be refreshed. Its always clean, but you can start to see the wear and tear. Im hoping that a renovation is coming their way soon and the outside will match the inside.

Location: Pretty, but very remote. If you don’t have a rental car you are trapped or forced to pay high fees for Lyft, Uber. Staff is friendly, but not super responsive. My husband waited 2 days to get his package that was delivered for a conference. He kept getting simply no response. Arrived on Wednesday, finally got it on Friday. Menus at the only restaurant are very limited, and very pricey. The whole place needs a renovation starting with the old, torn, gross carpet. I witnessed the wait staff using a broom and dustpan to try and clean up dining messes. Painting the rusty balcony railings would help and cleaning and lubricating the sliding glass door tracks would be nice. It took a serious effort to open them. The choice of tile for the bathrooms is questionable. Flat, slick, and absolutely dangerous. I had to hang on to the safety bar and reach for the body wash to avoid slipping and falling. The room was large (we upgraded to a balcony room) with a very tiny fridge, and no microwave in sight. You have to bring your leftovers back to the restaurant to heat them up. By design? Definitely not enough plug ins and not located conveniently. They have conventions here so they really need to understand that is important for business people. I asked for a late check out (2 hours) because I am disabled and my husband would be at the conference until 1pm and checkout is 11am. Nope. You’ll have to get a bellhop to move your stuff to the lobby and just sit there for 2 hours.

If you have a choice PASS on staying here. I wish I did. If attending a conference here, stay somewhere else and drive each day. Isolated location, so you would need to have a car anyway, or incur ride/cab charges to go anywhere else.Only been here short time and absolutely not a 4-star facility but somehow travel marketplace say it is. If it is a self-rating coming from Hilton, it is dishonest. Outdoors is beautiful and only reason for stars. Room is large and clean but needs upgrades, as does parts of the entire property, as expressed by other reviewers. Noticeable that some repairs that have been done are of poor quality (see wallpaper picture, paper is cut in mismatch, I also saw shower tile is cut narrow on one end and wide on the other). Coffee stand only open until 1 p.m. & does not accept Hilton Honors drink tickets like some other Hilton properties do. My basement level room has yard like space that is isolated by wall/fence from common space but accessible by adjacent rooms (through their sliders), so some may find it a safety and/or privacy concern. [A]lways ensue your sliding patio door is locked and the secondary lock is engaged as well, and [f]or further privacy at night, please keep your drapes closed whether you are in the room or out for the evening, according to a letter in the room, authored by General Manager Alyssa Turowski. Certainly not the balcony room I selected and expected. Further as to my personal guest experience, I did not get the room I booked (I dont think anyone would expect the walled in dirt yard type space a balcony room). And it was also a miserable check-in experience because property has their own rules for business travelers on reservations to be paid by virtual cards. If this applies to you, expect problems (they require a physical business card with a matching number or one in virtual wallet that can be tapped/run on pos terminal). Ive never encountered this requirement, but Manager Torres said expectation is strictly enforced here. Moreover, the whole interaction was made far worse by the poor customer service and smug attitude of the staff. Lanie attempted to mislead me about the extent and nature of the credit card funds hold, despite that I had repeatedly said I shouldnt have a hold for the nightly room charge on my personal credit card. I dont believe this is an approach a customer service representative would employ unless instructed to do so, but draw your own conclusions. In addition, Manager Torres seemed to have little interest in helping in a substantively meaningful way, despite that the propertys policy deviates from the programs regular process. He literally refused to provide his full name and the phone number to the front desk, instructing that I should provide anyone that needed to follow up with an email. From what I understood, the hotel wont honor verbal assurances from business travel agents and no longer take faxes, despite that they require written instructions from business travel coordinators. The general attitude from staff was that they were doing me a favor to stay here. Certainly not interested in problem solving, and they really doubled down on the smug attitude when I came back hours later and used my personal credit card. The fiasco delayed my check-in several hours (I had to get instructions from work on what to do, after business hours, which included waiting on hold for our travel agency after hours help for nearly an hour before they could take my call). Missed my evening plans, including dinner, as a result. Bottom line, beautiful outdoor space but older hotel not as updated or maintained like it should be and staff here do not provide excellent customer service. They are absolutely not guest centric and from observation and experience so far, very poorly operated and managed. Not what you expect from Hilton. Go elsewhere.

Came here on my honeymoon and was thoroughly disappointed with the entire experience. Paid several hundred dollars extra for a room with a view and this was what they gave me. On the website I booked an “ocean view” room. After I asked about the view from the room I was given told me it was a “limited view” room when nowhere on the website did it indicate it was limited view. Management was extremely unhelpful and kept saying that this is their “ocean golf” view. They did not provide any help or solutions to make our stay better. The walls are paper thin and you can hear every conversation people in the hallway and neighboring rooms are having. The food at the restaurant is also nauseating at best. Avoid at all costs.Editing to add: they never “looked into it”, reached out, or anything of the sort—not surprising. Won’t stay at a Hilton again.

Hotel starting to show signs of aging. Musty smells in stairwells. Elevators frustratingly slow. Room had wear and tear like broken tile in shower, water damaged art, creaky stiff bed, TV signal very spotty. Hard to get service in restaurant. Location is absolutely gorgeous though and hotel grounds are impeccable. Lots of wildlife, golf right next door, and close to lots of restaurants/things to do.

The staff were all so nice, I feel bad leaving a bad review for this hotel but I don’t know how this is rated four stars! My husband was trying to set up a luxurious weekend for the family and were extremely disappointed upon arrival. The hotel was the opposite of what we were expecting….extremely old and run down and poorly maintained. I hate to leave a bad review but this poor hotel needs some TLC.

Last week, I stayed here on a business trip again for the 4th time since 2019. This hotel badly needs an overhaul--the rooms have a musty odor, paint is chipping everywhere and for the rates they charge, you could go so many better places. Last year, the ceiling plaster fell down on one of my team members and others encountered mice/rats in their rooms on the ground level.As a Hilton Honors member (and I know there are many), you would hope for better check-in and room assignment, and in this last experience I certainly got neither. Colleagues checking in after me who were not Honors members were immediately given rooms (4 hours before official check-in time). I was with 4 Honors members checking in around the same time who also had the same experience. When our rooms were ready, there was no call placed as they had noted and we finally went back, had to stand in line again behind guests waiting to check in and go through the process. There was a power outage on our first night (Tuesday) after traveling from the east coast which lasted for about 3 hours, making my ground level, musty room (a room location I had last year and desperately wanted to avoid) even more humid and warm, and uncomfortable for sleeping. Then when the power came back on with lights blazing at 3am, I was up once again. Not the restful sleep one is looking for after a long travel day and before meetings. To add to that experience, we all woke to no hot water, and had cold showers Wednesday morning. Service from the restaurant was slow because they were light on staff, but the staff working the Torreyana Grill were really lovely. Another positive is for a large meeting group, the food at our on-site reception was quite good and again, the servers were fantastic.Its a shame because the property is in a beautiful location. There is so much promise for this place but they need to do some work for the accomodations at minimum, especially when room rates are between $300-400 a night mid-week. Our meeting group was composed of ~80 people and with this as a second year in a row experience for this off-site, we are advising our corporate meeting planners to avoid this hotel until they do something to improve the quality.

We had a wonderful experience at the Hilton in La Jolla, California. The staff were polite and helpful and professional, and every time we needed something from the front desk, it was brought to us very quickly. We highly recommend this Hilton and we will definitely be back. It’s in a beautiful area near the ocean and right off the interstate exit and easy to access.

The service rating is strictly designated and isolated only to the Valet Parking and other staff as follows; (I hope I’m not butchering anyone’s name) Mohamed, Haythum, Brandon and Jaaden…All of whom, were extremely welcoming and warm upon arrival and return. The bellman Rich, was also equally as warm and welcoming. And lastly, the housekeeping lady servicing the lobby level 3000 numbered rooms (I don’t know her name), was very friendly and accommodating. The front desk staff, however, namely Mercedes was unpleasantly authoritative and insulting by her unapologetic display of patronizing, suspicious behavior that she tried so hard to masquerade by being fake professional.I’m an otherwise pleasant person, but I somehow left upset as I was rubbed the wrong way, so I then stopped for moment to look at her name tag, and thats when she pridefully pointed to it and in a overtly condescending manner that told me “you’re welcome”. The entitlement of the staff and their spite baffles me a great deal, and is equally as worrisome to me of how the culture of the management allows this standard of behavior towards guests especially those as myself; both a seasoned traveler, and a long time diamond member, of whom may have certain minimum expectations upon reception until departure of each Hilton hotel. And for this type or category of property, I would expect a little more. After reading all these reviews, I see a common thread with consistency in guests grievances.In sum, I am 10+ year Diamond member that has 120+ nights a year on average and cant recall ever leaving a stand-alone Hilton property feeling dissatisfied like this as a result of my interaction with one entitled and rude front desk staff member. Perhaps in other lower level Hilton brands and in other areas, the biases and stereotypes that you receive upon first impressions are consistent, but not the case with this property.

I went to the Torrey Pines Hilton on a day pass. Started out kind of Rocky as the front desk didnt get my reservation from the third party, but they came to an agreeable resolution and let me begin my relaxing day. But, then I myself dropped my phone over the edge of the wall taking pictures of the beautiful environment around the hot tub... before I even got in to relax 🙄 BUT. the staff was so extremely helpful and reassuring and wonderful and spent time and effort helping me! They were so amazing and made what could have been a horrible experience actually really lovely and wonderful. I felt the Hilton Hospitality to the max I appreciate the bar staff, especially, as theyre who I had the most contact with

The apocalyptic tint on the windows (see photo) pretty much sums up how dated this place is. Whoever thought this was a good idea in a place where wildfires and military infrastructure are ubiquitous was either insane or a total sadist. I’ve seen enough dystopian films and experienced enough extreme weather events to know how this ends….but you know, thanks for the morning panic attack. Otherwise, every other review about the sad state of this hotel is pretty much on point.The staff is nice enough, and I’m sure it’s fine for people who come only to golf and hike, but that aspect of the location alone is not enough to make up for how seriously in need of an overhaul this hotel is. As with much of San Diego, the area this hotel is in suffers from an over-dependence on auto infrastructure, making walking or biking anywhere - even to hiking trails or to UCSD a half mile or so away - pretty miserable. That and there really isn’t anything else in walking distance, unless you’re into generic suburban office parks.The hotel really needs some love, not only to bring it into the 21st century, but to make it more of a destination in an area that desperately needs it.

Uncomfortable old bed, no place to dry wet towels, poor quality food throughout property, resort fee charged even though we did not use pool or gym, room fridge froze all my own food that I purchased away from property and ruined my medication. I had booked an ocean facing golf course room and I arrived to check in at 8 pm and they didnt care to inform me that they gave the room to someone else and when I reminded them that I had booked an ocean facing room and paid that price in advance they held my credit card information and it was a non refundable room, I was informed by Kristian Torres at the check in desk that he gave my room to someone else and that the room with the view is not available. He was not sorry at all for his mistake and was rude, disrespectful, abusive towards us. It was me(a woman of color), my sister, her two little girls and he spoke to us rudely that you can just leave from here right now if you dont want this room, and go somewhere else. I am a physician and so is my sister. He said it happens, “Since you were late and check in was at 4 pm your room was given to someone else” We kept trying to reason with him and explain to him that we promised the kids this experience but he just did not care. He was rude, He disrespected us and was not able to have a reasonable conversation. He threatened us to get out as us asking for our room was creating a scene in his opinion. He threatened to kick us out of the hotel three times during the conversation with the two little girls. It was late and therefore we could not go anywhere else. We had to stay there and we felt unsafe as he was talking to us in a threatening manner. Also he gave us a room wedged between buildings in a corner. HILTON please train your staff. How can you have a man this rude and unprofessional and discriminatory and absolutely cruel at the check in desk.

Horrible customer service and experience at this place! First off the entire hotel was severely outdated with wallpaper peeling off, a stinky cigarette scent through out and none of the decor, fixtures or furniture looked updated since 1998! Then, within the first 20 mins after checking in, my family discovered nasty bugs crawling out of the bed and onto the walls! None of our phone calls were being answered to report bugs being found so after walking to Front desk, the representative was super rude, as if we were making this up! We finally got placed in another room.. but the disrespect continued after our 4 breakfast vouchers( that were an additional $40 each purchase to our hotel stay) were rejected for redemption the next morning! The hotel staff again treated us so rude and wouldnt validate our vouchers, even though there was over 45 mins left for bkfst! This place is ridiculous, overpriced and ran by a bunch of stupid people that hate there jobs! I will NEVER stay in another Hilton again!

We booked this hotel for two days (Dec. 15 and Dec. 16) ，expecting standard service. Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing and negatively impacted our travel schedule and mood.1. The front desk employee, Mercedes, was extremely disrespectful. She consistently ignored me and only responded to my boyfriend, despite him indicating we were together. It was a shocking and infuriating experience, one that left me feeling humiliated. I think no guest should be treated in that way. This prompted me to write this detailed review, something I rarely do.2. The hotels facilities are outdated. Upon arrival, it was evident that the decor and furniture were quite old. The realization of how outdated the amenities were became apparent when the toilet clogged and the toilet water was all over the floor, causing us to move to another room, as staying in a room with a floor flooded by toilet water was clearly a worse option. We had to repack our belongings, which was inconvenient and disrupted our plans (The reason we chose to stay in one place for two nights was to avoid such inconveniences as moving rooms, but unfortunately, we still had to face this issue).3. After these unpleasant experiences, especially the poor treatment, we hoped to cancel our second night and receive a refund. However, when Expedia contacted the hotel, the request was denied by their manager. The managers response and overall attitude made it clear why we were treated poorly earlier: it seems to be a team-wide issue. The manager stated they couldnt verify my claims of mistreatment. When I questioned how to prove the mistreatment I experienced, perhaps by videotaping, the manager threatened to have security remove me if I tried to record any such incidents.4. The comforters in the rooms were very thin, resembling two sheets with very few filling clumped in the corners. I had to repeatedly request additional bedding. Either because no one shows to send comforter/blankets after half or even one hour, or because I received another thin, ineffective comforter. I have to experience these twice due to changing rooms.I am not sure if their team do not value all the guests or only the ones who are not appearing wealthy. I sincerely hope that other guests wont have to endure such experiences. No one should have to endure poor treatment or face the tough choice between 1) staying and dealing with disrespect, or 2) leaving and essentially giving your money to those who dont respect their customers.BTW, I wish I had read others reviews of this hotel before we booked it.

Maybe this hotel was given an extra credit star for its location, but the hotel itself is a 2.5-3 star, at best. Rooms are worn and not well-maintained. After flying 7 hours and getting here at check-in, our room was not ready. By 5, still not ready. They gave us a similar room with what they said was a comparable view, but its mostly of the pool area. Customer service for the inconvenience was also lacking, but staff were generally friendly. We ate at the lower level restaurant, which had a very limited menu and served sub-par bar food. With such limited offerings, youd think that the items served would be excellent. They were not. My husband pulled a bone out of his sea bass that was at least 3 inches long. My burger tasted like it was cooked IN a fire. Decor is also dated and worn. Our server was friendly, though. There is in-room coffee, but youre given one single regular coffee and a single decaf coffee, which is kind of ridiculous. The website also states there are shuttles you can use for 1 local trip a day. Which isnt offered anymore, apparently. It surprises me that the site isnt updated to reflect this (a simple fix), and just another example of how this hotel is struggling to offer the service and experience it advertises.Edit to add: there is nothing wrong with a hotel that is a lower star. Were normally a 2-3 star family, so this was a special trip. Its about setting an expectation and not providing the service you advertise.We did have breakfast one morning, and again, great server. This isnt an employee issue, at all.

Stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. TV in the room was not working from day 1. only preview channel was working, non of channel was working. Notified the main desk on first day, a technician came and told that me that there is problem with TV. After technician left, no action was taken. All of time during the stay there was no working TV. Even I got text from Hilton about my satisfaction during my stay, I told them the problem. They said they will look into this matter but no action taken. Management should take some responsibility about these kind of issues.

In this area/location, one would expect something better. Book the Presidential Suite. Arrive at the room to notice the space is not cared for all that well. Wallpaper peeling, cracks in stone work on the floor, cracks in stone tops in rht bathrooms (cut finger/hand due to the jagged edge), linens were NOT clean, stains at multiple locations on carpet, stains on couches/seating, service area/bar was sticky/filthy. I called the front desk and explained, Brain seems to not care. Next day, no housekeeping, no service, no turndown, absolutely nothing! Someone came and put towels at the front door. The coffee shop staff were more interested in chatting with their friend than waiting on customers. Normally I don’t care but they were pretty standoffish just like the concierge. The valet was rude. Maybe everyone is tired during off season but sheesh.I have one last complaint. I’m a Hilton Diamond business person. Hilton started offering free upgrades lately. When I checked in they told me they couldn’t honor my upgrade and the system must have been wrong but they could put me in a different room. They said they were sold out of the original room it put me in. I said sure, put me wherever. However I then saw the next 3 nights the exact room type they made me change from was NOT full and a good 20 of them were empty just across the way from my room. The hotel should have to honor Hilton’s franchise rules then. I can’t say for sure but I wonder if they would have downgraded a business man? I travel 10-15 times per year for work alone. I have NEVER written a bad review of a hotel until now. I was beyond disappointed in my stay at Hilton Torrey Pines. First note there is a $75 “early check in” fee. I’ve never in all of my travels even heard of this. This includes if they have empty rooms cleaned & readily available. But note, the fee will be arbitrarily waived or applied depending on who you check in with. This was all to be given a room that reeked of urine, had a shower head caked in mildew, and other people’s hair all over the bathroom. I complained immediately & was told my room couldn’t be changed. I complained again the next day & got the same, asked for my fee to be waived given the condition of the room and poor customer service- still nothing. Including from the manager who was the most dismissive of all. We had several catered meals there that were low grade hotel banquet food. The staff had no idea what was going on and had to pull out pages of instructions from their pockets to answer questions as basic as- is there a bar being set up? The plus is the external scenery is gorgeous, but would recommend looking for similar accommodations elsewhere.

We chose the Hilton for its preferred tee times at Torrey Pines, and that aspect did not disappoint; however, the hotel condition is 3-star at best. Given a major renovation it could be restored to a grand resort. Beds were comfy, shower in our room had been upgraded and water pressure was good, but the room was quite dated and furniture had seen better days. That said, the staff were very friendly and helpful and the view from our room overlooking the golf course out to the ocean was beautiful. If you dont plan to play Torrey Pines or have found a tee time using other channels, I would recommend staying in one of the nearby seaside neighborhoods north of San Diego, which provide more walkable access to activities, beaches and food options.

I booked a room for 3 nights here at La Jolla Torrey Pines. The place was exactly what I was looking for. If you are looking for a place that is quiet and peaceful then this is the place for you. They have a beautiful pool, hot tub and fire places outside to enjoy. The golf course separates the hotel and ocean. If you want to enjoy the beach for the day, its a quick drive up the road. My daughter had a wonderful time as well. The rooms were clean, housekeeping came daily and supplied the rooms with fresh towels and bottles of water. As far as close by places to grab food quickly its a bit of a drive but we didnt mind as we were looking to get out of the busy city life we live in. I will come here again! Parking is a fee but parking is in the garage where your car is safe. The smell in the lobby was delightful. Thank you for a wonderful experience to everyone there at Torrey Pines.

My bathroom had clearly not been cleaned prior to my arrival- there was hair on the floor and tub,and a lot sand on the counter. I unfortunately discovered this at 9 PM. When I called the Front Desk I just was told he would tell Housekeeping in the morning. I was flabbergasted that the Hilton would be okay with their guest remaining in a hotel room that had not been cleaned thoroughly, especially in the this post Pandemic era. In the AM,I filled out the comment card and personally handed it to the front desk. Again, it was nonchalantly handled that a note would be put in the system.In addition to the dirty bathroom, there were brown ? Blood stains on my pillow cases, red/brown smears on the ceiling and the walls. If I had not been there for the conference I would have left.I was never contacted to see if the room had come up to my satisfaction during my stay.

We booked the Hilton LA Jolla for one night stay as my husband and I were golfing at Torrey Pines (both North and South courses) over the weekend. Fortunately, we booked on-line and we were able to check-in on our app for a virtual key. It was definitely a good thing as the check-in line was at least 10 guests long and only two staff at the front desk. The rooms were clean, cool, and quiet. We valet our car and checked in our golf clubs from the golf course to the hotel. However, the next day as we were leaving for golf, the young man at the valet informed us that they were not able to have our golf clubs taken to Torrey Pines golf course. At that moment, the staff that transports the golf clubs to and from pulled up and assisted us. Why the misinformation? No doubt good employees are hard to find BUT training is needed to ensure all guests receive the same consistent considerations.

Resort amenities are great, rooms a little dated for the price, location can be amazing only in very *specific* circumstances-- its a resort hotel close to (drive to) Sorrento Valley businesses and walking proximity to Torrey Pines golf & the hospital. Staff were excellent and accomodating, from the cleaning crew to the engineer that fixed our door lock when it broke.Other notes:- both of our room doors (patio and hallway-facing) had issues with the locks during our stay, but they were both fixed by the end of the day- bikes available, but its not easy to get down to Torrey Pines Beach without a car (even though you can see it from almost every room!). the hill is very steep and its a long hike through the adjacent preserve.- the marine layer, especially here on the bluff, means that you most likely wont have a beach vista on your morning walks!- parking is $40 a night, and the breakfast buffet is $32, the resort fee is in the $30-40 range. all of these added up tack on a lot to the room rate, especially since you pretty much need a car to get to this hotelOverall we really enjoyed our stay as locals, but there are more centrally located resort hotels in San Diego County also with stunning beach views & more access to neighborhoods, restaurants, and stores if youre visiting for the first time.

I am a loyal Hilton rewards member. However this hotel and staff are way under par. My digital key didn’t work and we checked in two hours after check in time. We had to wait in a 30 minute line We got over that but the staff had an oh well attitude. We tried to call room service for dinner and the phone rang and rang with no answers after several attempts. We went down to the restaurant and were met by another staff member that had an oh well we didn’t answer the phone attitude. We ordered a burger, fish tacos and 2 deserts for 80 bucks If it tasted great the price wouldn’t bother me but the food was mediocre and my chocolate lava cake had less lava than Dominos lava and the cake was hard on the edges. I think this hotel is way overdue for a staff and hotel renovation. As it sits it is about 4 time’s overpriced than what it’s worth. I don’t recommend.

Prepaid and Booked a pool/ocean view room for my family. Kids were excited as we walk into the hotel and see this great view of the ocean and pool. I begin to check in and I overhear 2 unhappy guests already. I had my fingers crossed and was hoping to have a good experience. Well, that didnt take long. The lady at the front desk started to check us in and said to give her a minute.....5 min later she comes out with a manager and they said sorry, we are all out of rooms that you reserved/prepaid over 2 months ago. However we can get you free breakfast and we have a garden view on the first floor. My kids faces were like what? No view but free eggs? I was trying my best to keep it cool and shared my concerns and took the room they had. The room was looking at a greenbelt and facing another hotel. I opened the sliding door and all you hear are loud fans or sometype of power source from the next door hotel. Bummer again. I thought maybe they can get us a cabana since we did not get to experience much of what we excpected. No luck at that either. They said they comp 1 day of parking. Oh well it is what it is. I do believe in 2nd chances and we come to san diego 3 times a year at least. I would come back if Management wants to make it right.

The system blocked 600$ on my card as a security deposit then accidentally another 200$ were charged and when i asked them what for they lies in the beginning then their manager admitted it is a-mistake from the system and we totally removed your card to avoid this again but surprisingly next day system charged me again for no reason and they kept lying with offering no solution to stop this.Don’t give them your credit card at check in time, it is gonna be stolen

The location is prime. A bit of a distance from local entertainment spots but not too far out of the way. The rooms had a somewhat musty/humid smell to them that you could not miss. Otherwise the hotel is clean and soundproofing is adequate. I didnt hear much noise from the neighbors or the traffic outside my room. Pleasant stay. The front desk staff could be slightly more friendly and welcoming. Not one of them stood out as being engaging or super inviting.

I just had the most pathetic, horrible customer service experience ever. I called around 5:30pm to book a room, a lady answered the phone and confirmed a reservation for that same night, she gave me Scripps discount price. She even said that since it is beyond cut-off time, any cancellation would be charge full price, I gave her my credit card number. She had a confirmation number for me but I did not write it down since I was busy with my husband at Scripps next door who is a cancer patient, I just trusted the reservation would be there, specially since they were charging me. I arrived around 7:45 to check in and was told by the 2 clerks at front that they could not find my reservation and that they were fully booked. I asked, how could that be? I was given a confirmation number, etc. They replied that sometimes it happens because rooms are oversold. I could not believe what I was hearing. I just wanted to rest for the night so I could take my husband home the next day without driving for 2 hours. They could care less about my situation. I said out loud that this situation was pathetic, and the guy said you can leave now! When an airline oversells, at least they offer a credit or discount. Simply horrible.

I needed a handicap room because I was having knee surgery. The bathroom had a tub which was not good. Toliet had rail on one side and bed was lower which was good. Overall, our stay was wonderful, with only 1 minor hiccup at the end, hence 4 instead of 5 stars.The property was stunning and our room was clean and quiet. The beds were super comfortable.With the exception of 1 person (more details below, the staff members were exceptional).Anastasiia gave us the warmest welcome and helped us with our request for a quieter room.Jolenie helped clean our rooms and had the best attitude. She was always friendly and made sure we had what we needed.The only lowlight of our visit was during checkout. The night before, we had called the front desk requesting a late checkout for 12pm and we were granted that. Unfortunately, the next morning, Serenity at the front desk rudely lectured us about needing to check our earlier. When we clarified that we were granted late checkout, she rolled her eyes at us and said “Well, it was never reflected in the reservation.” (As if that was our fault…). I was pretty surprised at this unprofessional behavior given how positive our experiences had been with the rest of the staff.The visit was still a good one, but I hope in the future there is greater consistency in the quality of the staff.

Hotel location was amazing and the views were great. The rooms were clean but definitely need some renovation - it seems like its been a few decades since its been done.A few other things they could have been better:First is that the wifi is REALLY bad. I am a Diamond member and I had premium connectivity, yet I was still unable to get more than 2 devices working at a time and with reasonable speeds without it dropping all the time. The front desk asked me to call AT&T when its supposed to be the hotels job to take care of it. My particular room (Rooms 2070-2090) had absolutely no cell reception so I missed several important work calls as a result. This is not necessarily the hotels fault but its something people should be aware of.The second thing is the charges for room service. I understand these extra charges are necessary but the bill I signed when the food was delivered was highly deceptive. It already includes the service charge (22% which includes 18% tips for staff and 4% to the hotel) but there was another line on the receipt for tips which I mistakenly added another 18%. This resulted in my food being an entire 40% higher than expected. Unacceptable.Ive stayed in many Hilton hotels before and this was disappointing to say the least. For the resort fees and high room rates, you would think that they could afford the occasional renovation.

I checked in early around 10:30AM and the hotel informed me that there were a few rooms ready now but it would be an additional $75 ftfor early check in fee. The room was only $200 plus taxes and resort fees so I thought $75 was hefty. On top of that, they didn’t have any information on their website about early check in fee. If I knew, I would have thought twice before booking. However, the worst was the front desk manager, who was super condescending. All in all, I would not suggest staying here. Location wasn’t great either, wasn’t close to anything except buildings.

By turns stunning and decrepit, this hotel seems to have aged badly.Hilton has mastered the art of nickel and diming. I was inundated with offers to upgrade my room, to buy add-ons, to upgrade the WiFi, to buy a movie, etc.The hotel is not really close to anything so a car is a necessity and the hotel really takes advantage by charging an outrageous $40 per night to a captive audience. Add that to the additional resort fee of $32 plus tax on top of your room rate.For the price, the room should have been stunning. Instead, the furniture looks like it came from an estate sale. The hallways were dark and dirty. Trash, laundry, and dirty dishes sat unattended for days.There is a smoke detector with a bright green light directly over the bed.On the plus side, the room was spacious, there was a large TV (2 HBO channels plus basic cable) and the bathroom fixtures were nice. Shower was decent. There was a small balcony with an ocean view outside every room.Would I stay here again? Not a chance.

My husband and I visited the Hilton for our honeymoon from June 23rd to June 25th 2023. We were very disappointed with our visit, here is why:1. At the bar, the bartender (of 30 years) didn’t make a good old fashion, it was very much watered down because he added a lot of ice to the drink (usually an old fashion has minimal ice). When I said that it wasn’t made up to par, he comped an attitude and said that it’s just the way old fashions are…being the daughter of someone who has owned bars, and a lover of whiskey drinks myself, I do believe that the drink was not suitable to serve.2. The wings at the hotel bar were literally pigeon wings. They hardly had any meat on them, and for $18 for SIX wings - It’s ridiculously overpriced. Plus, they were overcooked and just not good at all.3. It was our HONEYMOON, and while I am not one to ask for much, something for this once in a lifetime event would have been nice. Nothing was done for us, not even a nice note saying congratulations!4. We requested 2 champagne flutes to be sent to our room to celebrate our honeymoon with the bottle of champagne we brought with us. They said it would be delivered ASAP. We waited 30 minutes, nothing. So we called again. They said that they would deliver the glasses soon. But we received 2 other type of glasses instead. When we called again, to request 2 champagne flutes, they said it would be a $6 charge. Why were we not informed of this in the beginning when we first initially asked for them? We were waiting to celebrate something special for almost 2 hours!5. My husband spoke with Susan, the Manager of Guest Services, and while she comped the $6 delivery charge of the champagne glasses, she didn’t do anything more. When they were speaking she apologized and said that the way we have been treated was not what she wanted us to experience on our honeymoon and that she would make it up to us…nothing was ever done for us. So disappointing.6. For being a Torrey Pine location, we thought it would be a lovely location and facility. But its obvious that they penny pinch at every corner…and the place needs some obvious work. Plus the halls have a weird odor to them. NOT worth $1,000 for TWO nights (did I mention that all the fees are ridiculous?)!I recommend not staying here, especially if you are celebrating a special milestone in your life because it means nothing to them.

Shame on this Hotel’s staff. I was on a last minute trip to San Diego, and decided to book a last minute room in this hotel. When I finished booking, they sent me a confirmation for 2 weeks away (the date probably got messed up in the back and forth of their overly complicated website). I called immediately after booking the $500 ticket and the lady who picked up the phone was rude before I even stated what the problem was. And then, she had the gull to tell me it was my fault and that I would just have to eat the $500 on the booking I made right then and there. She said “It’s on you. You picked the non-refundable option.” Not accounting for the fact that I picked the non-refundable option because I was less than 30 minutes away.Had to talk to 4 people before I got the money refunded. Needless to say, I did not rebook there using the refund.This apparently poorly run property smears the Hilton brand. If they are smart they’ll clean house.

Finally had time to get there Sunday afternoon July 2nd. Bald headed bar tender slaps the menu down, I say “were is the Sea Bass?” bartender, We changed chef’s it’s off the menu. High end service would have said, “ let me check with the Chef, we still might have a Sea Bass?” So basically, this is all we have deal with it.And... the number one take away from my stay at the Hilton dog farm at Torrey Pines…*When I checked out Monday July 3rd at 4:30 am. This is not a review against the friendly staff there. I am staying here now. They nickel and dime you at every turn. $30 a day per person for breakfast. Another $30 a day for wifi and the low quality coffee they leave in your room. Another $40 a day for self parking. $800 for three nights in a supposed view room where 90% of the view is blocked by the wall. What’s most annoying though? The manager won’t do anything to make you happy. I’ve worked in the hotel business. They are supposed to sweeten your stay, make you feel at home. With this one you will feel you’re at a dead end and he won’t even give you a pathetic discount on a single breakfast to show appreciation for our choosing the Hilton to stay at. I had a terrible experience. I woke up so sick not even close 24 hours after booking. My husband tried to get the room cancelled and they refused they said because it’s third party booking. I called the third party and they said it’s absolutely possible but it would be at the hotels discretion. Gas up/charge up before you arrive - both types can be a drive away.Photos were a bit late in our early November evening/dusk to catch an actual sunset, but the skies still presented great colors.The setting is world-class: you look out windows across patios, pools, green grass, golf courses in play and then the blue Pacifiç, right there. Walkways provide plenty for your early/later day jogs or walks, and the air is laced with the ocean breezes.Staff are kind and cooperative.We had some of the same dishes 2 or 3 times they were so good.Our group of 200 with trainers, group leaders and accompanying spouses of CEOs had plenty of room to meet, train, chat, bar time - we all had what we wanted in terms of space, good food and comfy rooms to study and rest in.Highly recommended (our additional night beyond the group rate was $289. Beautiful setting and the scenery was awesome. We had a little mix up with some of the rooms not being ready till after 4pm. Our group had a 2pm check in time. Everyone traveled from the Greater Los Angeles Metropolitan area on Friday afternoon. So most of our party was exhausted from the drive and traffic. Waiting the extra 2hours was a little difficult after getting off the freeway. We had in our group, and couples married 3years to 55years. You can imagine frustration not being able to immediately go to your rooms. The hotel made up for it by giving complimentary resort fees, parking and additional incentives. Area is absolutely gorgeous,,!

Very Good location. On the golf course and nice hikes around. Bed was comfortable.Parking is very hard. Even though you pay 35 $ per day most of the parking spots comfortably accommodates only compact car. Any SUV is very difficult to park. Lot of times the exit scanner didnt work. Many cars are stuck and long queue at least 2 days to get out of parking lot.Many thread mills in fitness center didnt work. The machines look very outdated and needs maintenance.

The hotel is located perfectly. We spent most of our time in La Jolla. Our room overlooked the ocean and the golf course. The hotel, I would say is a four star, but the staff bring it up to a solid five. The concierge, Nancy made us feel like we had an amazing, local, relative caring for us. The restaurants, reservations, and adventures she sent us on were all amazing. From the valet to the people bringing room service, the staff is kind, friendly, and go the extra mile to make you feel cared for.

Our stay was not to standard to Hiltons normal standards. I brought the issues up to management and all I was given was, Sorry about that. No solution. The bathroom door on both sides was broken and could have easily been fixed with commercial grade adhesives. There was hair in the shower and sink- Housekeeping should double check prior to leaving room. Old cob web by the door, which tells me it has not been dusted. The final straw, the pool wasnt heated at all at night. My daughter was looking forward to swimming here and was at first so excited about the hotel, and I felt like I let her down. You guys let me down. I brought it up again, upon checkout, I was just told it would be brought to management and I should be receiving reward points. Still no solution and no points given. The staff is most unhelpful, from check-in to check-out people dont seem to know much about anything and everything takes long. The TV in the rooms only allow for live television, at most hotels nowadays you are able access to your Netflix or prime accounts. We were limited to what we could watch for free, you have some $20 options but wed seen all those movies. There were only a couple towels in the room and no extra bedding as you would normally find at the Westin or Marriott. The food at the restaurant is great but everything seems overpriced. I would understand it if service was top notch, but it wasnt.

We arrived with our 4 year old and our dog at this pet friendly hotel just after 11pm after a 6.5 drive. This was for a 5 night vacation, not just a layover for the night. The night service desk representative was so rude and acted like she hated her customer service job. I was too tired to get her name but she had long blond hair. She also stated, when we were checking our pet in that our pet could not be left alone in the room during our entire stay and that she was not allowed in any of the dining areas in the hotel. Lol. So basically insinuating that wed be staying in our room with or pet the entire stay since we were on vacation and planned many activities in the San Diego area. It was the craziest thing I have ever heard. Then, she asked me to provide a phone number on the pet check-in form (which seemed pointless if we could never leave the pet at the hotel anyway), both of my hands were completely full of belongings and so I asked her if she could fill it in. She pushed the paper toward me and again asked me to put the number in. I said, listen, my hands and arms are full and Id prefer to not have to put everything down to pick it all up again so can you please jot the number down. She finally did but was visibly not happy about it. So, that was our welcome to the hotel and needless to say soured the rest of our experience at this overpriced, very dated and run down hotel. Paint chipping everywhere and very old, worn furniture.

This hotel/resort has fantastic views. We have stayed here twice now, and both times our room was clean and comfortable. I feel it’s not really kid friendly, but our 4 year old still enjoyed being here. It’s definitely more businesslike feeling here. Probably has to do with the famous and beautiful Torrey pines golf course that this place over looks. Last time we stayed here (July of 2019) we dined outside on the patio. I remember the food being so delicious and enjoying the atmosphere immensely. So we had planned on dining there again, but the menu seemed different and quite limited. I do not know if this is a seasonal thing, where they change menus and rotate what’s offered, or if it’s due to the COVID issues. So sadly, we didn’t eat here this time, however, we did grab some libations.Location is nice but inconvenient at the same time. It is surrounded by a bunch of research institutions or something, and feels quite empty on the weekends. However, there seems to be some great hiking paths nearby. Once upon a time, I would have took advantage of that, but now I am unable to.Overall, I recommend staying here.

Recently spent 3+ weeks at this hotel over 2 stays during a corporate move process. Was there both before and after labor day (when tourism slows down in town). My findings:The bad:1. The free wifi is bad. I was working from the hotel and it was miserable working on it. The premium wifi was $5/day and not much better.2. The hotel is not particularly close to any restaurants/entertainment; nothing walkable. You can drive/uber to La Jolla, UTC, & Del Mar/Solana/Encinitas. If you want to stroll around a fun area, this is not the place.3. It is a very busy hotel; the line for help at the front desk is perpetually never ending at all times of day.4. During the high tourist season, the pool and common space is overrun with vacationing families and children. An absolute zoo on the weekends. This is probably true at a lot of hotels in San Diego. PRO TIP - the resort fee allows access to the Shiley Pavillion next door, where there is a small lap swimming pool if you are in to that.5. A lot of the guests treat the pool area like an island resort and leave their trash and towels around for someone to clean up after them; however it is not a true resort and there is not always staff dedicated to tidying the pool area.6. Military aircraft buzz over the property all day long. Its kind of cool to see the machines but also makes a lot of noise (noise mostly seems to stop by nightfall).7. Housekeeping was not provided except when scheduled at the desk. I dont have an issue with this in concept; however, we set-up a housekeeping schedule at check-in and were blown off most of our arranged days.8. At check-out for both stays we had to go through the bill exhaustively since the front desk did not apply the proper credits associated with our stay either time. Theres really no reason for it other than the hotel probably trying to sneak the charges through IMO.9. Parking is $35/day...probably one of the more expensive lots in San Diego. Valet is $45; we did not spring for it. Highway robbery IMO.10. TV did not have any streaming/smart apps. I brought my HDMI cable for the 2nd stay.Not good or bad:1. The food at the restaurant is pretty mediocre. It is certainly the most convenient option; your only other options are to get in the car or delivery. I tried all the breakfasts at least once; the highlights were the smoked salmon plate and the chilaquiles.2. There are lots of conferences and other events hosted here and the hotel is often busy with attendees coming in and out. It was always quiet in the room though.3. The prices for rooms can be very high in the high tourist season - but that should be reflected in the price at any hotel you will try to book in those months.The good:1. Incredible views of the ocean and golf course. Theres a nice path along the edge of the course where you can see a gorgeous sunset every night.2. Staff was very accommodating and friendly (especially the bell hops, bartenders, and restaurant staff. The front desk not so much)3. If you are in town to play Torrey Pines, the clubhouse is steps away from the hotel. It looks like the hotel offers a golf bag check at the front door. Im sure theres a fee for it.4. Torrey Pines state park is just down the road where there are a number of easy yet fun hikes with breathtaking views of the area. Also great beach access from there.5. Hotel is dog friendly; not sure if there is an extra fee, but definitely saw families with dogs on the property.6. Grounds/property were decently cleaned/maintained, but aging and renovation - even just some fresh carpet and paint - would go a long way.7. Rooms are also a little dated; but good size and comfortable. Rooms were adequately cleaned at check-in.TLDR - Overall, a decent place to stay if you have a a good reason to i.e. wedding/event at the hotel, are doing business in the Torrey Pines area, or for easy access to the golf course. Otherwise there are probably better options at same price.

Beautiful hotel with wonderful views. Our room is at the end of one of the buildings offering expansive views of the golf course, ocean and the pool area. We were very pleased with the room and the staff we encountered. The pool area needs some attention. The jacuzzi is a good temperature but the inside is degraded and uncomfortable. Pieces of concrete fill the seating area and the bottom. SItting on a towel was best. The pool area is not monitored and relaxation was not an option with the many unsupervised children in the jacuzzi. This is our second stay.

I wish I would have taken the bad reviews and listened. I paid a premium for a water front room and all I saw was a piece of the golf course. That aside, the room is old, outdated, and musky. Our tv remote didn’t work and a replacement never came. I tried to enjoy the balcony (non water view 🙄) but the woman across the way was smoking on hers. Beware that you pay a resort fee and a parking fee ($77 plus tips) and if you use state/govt rate, you can’t use the resort amenities. All-in-all, La Jolla is amazingly beautiful, but don’t spend the money for an upgraded motel 6.

A returning guest and Hilton Gold. Gave it a 2 since it is a great location and amazing views from some of the rooms. Not mine this time. Overall, very disappointing. The room they gave me is old and dingy. Carpet has a bleach stain or chemical burn immediately upon entering the room. Outdated furniture. Desk chair is filthy and should be replaced. Not a great room at a resort fee spot. Then room service. No information in the room but all on the TV. The info on the TV is contradicting and not the truth. In room service on this Friday only goes to 1100 and is not available the rest of the day. Not what is advertised. Frustrating. They do say they give upgrades but none available. Still feel that a 4 star hotel with numerous fees would offer a much better room that a budget hotel.The manager did remove the $45/day parking fee. Appreciate them recognizing the situation, but this type of stay will have me looking at other options. Marriott consistently recognizes returning guest and memberships. Plenty of other places to try.

We got a king room with a partial view, which was great because you could see the courtyard, swimming pool, golf course and the ocean. The room was nice and big with a lot of space. My negative experience started at check-in.I used the Hilton mobile app to check in and choose my room. I paid a extra for a view of the ocean. I went to the front desk to receive my room card and was given a totally different room. I questioned the lady about it because I was a bit confused and told her I didnt book a pool-facing view when I chose my room on the mobile app. She immediately got confrontational toward me and wouldnt listen to me when trying to explain to her my confusion. I eventually grew tired of her cutting me off and told her to allow me to talk.The second incident - Headed to the self-parking garage. Our room keys wouldnt work, so my husband ended up grabbing a ticket and self-paying every time we exited the parking structure. We didnt think anything of it and I knew I didnt add self-parking when I booked the room.The third incident - Booked three nights and decided to leave at 8:20 PM our third night to avoid early morning traffic when we check out. I corresponded with the front desk on my phone to let them know that we were checking out and that timestamp was 8:20 PM. Got the bill and Im livid.- They charged me for $35/day self-parking when the room key that was given to me didnt allow me to enter or exit the garage.- They charged me a $221 early departure fee when I left my third night. I paid for all three nights I had booked and they still added an additional $221 fee because I left my third night. WTH Hilton?!!!!Good luck with disputing the charges too. You are forwarded to someone located in India with motorbike noises in the background and if you try to contact accounting directly at the hotel it goes straight to voicemail.

I had a 2 night stay for New Years weekend with my fiancé. We wanted to get away from the hustle and bustle from Los Angeles in search of some peace and quiet and relaxation. I’m very familiar with north county San Diego, but not so much La Jolla. I stumbled upon The Hilton Torrey Pines. I was blown away with how clean and polished the facilities were. Thanks to Curran at the front desk, we were able to check in early and begin our weekend. Curran was very friendly and knowledgeable and our check in process was seamless and effort free. The beds and pillows are some of the most comfortable we have experienced. My fiancé immediately took a nap shortly after check in. I decided to venture around and explore the resort. What a great location. Even though it was raining, it was still quite picturesque in the late afternoon. I decided to grab a beer at the bar and Gavin the bartender was very welcoming and sociable. He provided great service and kept his work area clean and organized. He was the only one on staff at the time and was able to help out all the guests as they walked in. Overall, we stayed for 2 nights and 2 days, but next time we are down this way, I’ll add on another night. I would highly recommend. 10/10.

Vacationing here on July 4th during a pandemic, and I must say it’s been wonderful. The staff has been kind, clean and cautious. I wish more of there amenities were open, but I understand the caution.We had to wear a mask throughout the facility, except our room. It was nice to know the hotel is keeping with state regulations.The view is breathtaking, and the atmosphere is welcoming. The room is gorgeous, and we had a 180 degree view of the ocean and golf course. It is a wonderful place to rest. The only thing I wish they’d add blinds to all the doors. It was very difficult to sleep in when the sun up in the morning.We’re close to everything which made commuting very easy. There are plenty of restaurants near by.

I stayed at the Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines while attending a conference.During my stay, I experienced connection issues with the wifi. Over a four day period, I had to reconnect approximately 50 times for the three devices I was using. I reported my concern three times, once each on the second, third and fourth days of my stay. I was especially frustrated given I paid the extra $4.95 per day for the “Premium Service”. I specifically asked for someone to contact me three separate times. No response. The last time I asked was one hour before check-out and I specifically noted I would be checking out in one hour and that I had not received any sort of response to my first two inquiries. I was sure that when I returned to the front desk, Hilton was going to make things right and apologize for the awful wifi service, and remove the offending “premium wife service charges” from my folio. Nope – when I returned to the desk, I was assisted by the desk “supervisor” who had no idea what I was talking about.And then there was the dirty underwear on the floor of my closet when I arrived and the unclean and unflushed toilet. When I reported this issue, the hotel quickly sent the cleaning staff to apologize for their bad service. I really did not want to recount the dirty underwear and dirty toilet story to the cleaning staff.Paying $5 for a bottle of coke in the gift shop was just adding insult to injury. I don’t expect to pay that much at airports or ball games.The rooms are OK but are becoming a little dated. Looking out over the pool and golf course to the ocean is really nice.On the flip side, the bell captain was awesome. Helpful, attentive and really nice to talk to.I have been having issues trying to understand my final invoice. I spent one hour today on the phone without getting resolution. The Hilton customer contact center was unable to provide me a final invoice and they were unable to contact anyone at the hotel. Well - consistency!

CheckinAt checkin the customer service was tired. We had gotten a room on the fourth floor but it wasn’t available, she sold us on what she called a room with a beautiful terrace. The terrace ended up being a 2x6 slate of concrete.I immediately noticed there were only 2 paper thin bath towels. I asked my husband to go request more, after returning he said the front desk didn’t have them but they were sending some. Four hours later we still had no towels.Later that night we returned, there was one single towel that had been placed on the floor of the bathroom. I’m not sure how sanitary that is.All the while we are getting automated texts from the front desk asking how our stay is going. Would a reply to the automated texts brought us another towel in less than 4 hours?The bathroom in general was gross, I attached a picture of the mirror, I’m not sure what that was. And the shower didn’t properly drain, so you stood in water while you showered.There was also a green light directly above the bed for the smoke detector. I get you cannot do much but the poor placement made it distracting for sleep.I wasn’t asking for much here, but at the rate we paid, I expect towels in less time than it takes to take a coast to coast flight.

I stayed Mon-Fri for a conference. The room looked good and the hotel location was great. I am a Hilton Honors member but it did not help me that in my room (2070) the wifi was not working. Actually there was almost no cell connection either, very spotty. However the real problem happened on Wednesday morning. I woke up at 6.20AM and was planning to do some work before the conference started. I went to the bathroom first, planning to take a shower. I closed the bathroom door and the handle fell on the floor (I did not slam the door or anything like that, I just gently closed the door). I tried to put it back in the door but it was not possible to open the door - the handle would not open it. I tried several times. I tried to kick the door, the door did not budge. I tired banging on the door with different items that were in the bathroom, and I was crying help, I am stuck in the bathroom, I cannot get out. Nobody was coming. There was no help button, no hotel phone in that bathroom. I soon realized that the door was metal and the walls were concrete. I also knew that it was 6.30AM and the previous day the cleaning lady came at 3-4PM. This was horrible, like being stuck in a grave. I was banging on the door and wall and crying for help for a very long time. Finally (I learned later that it was at 7.40 - so 1 hour 20 minutes after I got stuck in the bathroom) I heard some voices, and somebody was opening the door to my room. Then the security tried to open the door to the bathroom but couldnt. They called additional security people and finally after another 30 minutes (so 1 hour 50 minutes) total I was free. The security guards were very helpful. The hotel gave me another room in the afternoon (apparently there were no rooms available). That room had a nice ocean view. I filed a complaint. However I did expect more for the horrible situation as I was trapped for almost 2 hours. The next few days I did not use any elevators being afraid of getting trapped in them. Paid $300 for one night at this hotel for bugs, and negligent staff. told the front desk there were bugs in our bed and i had been bitten after laying in it half asleep and the guy at the desk said “well people complain about bugs in the room all the time and it’s never been bed bugs” (???? why would you tell us that?) they tried to move us two doors down. after talking to them more they gave us a room one floor above and when we went back to the old room to get a few of our necessities they told me i had to fill out paperwork because i was “supposedly bit”. at this point it’s 1 am and we had been traveling all day and were exhausted. they tried to tell us we needed to take all of our luggage into the new room with us which we weren’t comfortable with (because of the bugs) and when we asked when someone could look at the room to confirm if they were bed bugs or not, they said there was no way it was happening for at least 4 days. we had to travel back home in the morning. so basically we had no option but to take our luggage home with us. they put our things in the bell hop closet with everyone else’s things so not very cautious and in the morning we had to ask for large trash bags for our suitcases to drive them home. refused any refund (we were only staying that night and couldn’t get to bed until after 3am…. also had bugs in our room) and only waived a $35 parking fee. would never return.

Nice hotel inside! (Hilton Gold member so I see a lot of their Resorts) the only real constructive feedback I would say is that it can be easy to pass from the main road as their sign doesnt stand out that much, and that $10 food credit doesnt really do much considering there is a resort fee and parking charges. I didnt utilize the pool. Or golf course but it looks really nice in the morning on clear days.

The hotel is dated/aged, not what I expected in La Jolla and especially for the price. You have this gorgeous setting and a so so hotel. All the wood in my room was worn, spotty, aged. Upholstery on chair was dirty, worn and old. Sheets and towels were old and worn. Metal on sliding door was rusted. Not a great feeling. Front desk seemed annoyed; the woman answering my question about my company event greeted me with I dont know, I just got here, maybe ask him. Didnt bother to look anything up. She was bothered. The view helped subside the disappointment. Time to upgrade Hilton.

Unsatisfied, felt unwelcome, and annoyed by the service at the pricy 4-star hotel. I stayed Wed-Monday for a conference. I accidentally spilled some water on the comforter (my bad! sorry!) and asked for a replacement. Surprisingly they gave me blankets instead that night. I asked for a full housekeeping service and a comforter the next day. What I found was a blanket nicely covered by a comforter sheet in my clean room. The next day, I came back to hotel late and noticed that it is still a crazy darn blanket! I asked for a proper-real comforter and they said there is no comforter available. It is hard to believe that there is zero extra comforter at Hilton. I slept without a comforter for three nights out of my five nights of my stay at “HILTON” anyway. They kept giving me poor-quality blankets which even my cats might hate. Do you have any idea why Hilton does not prepare for extra comforter for their customers? Oh, what I heard from them is even more surprising and SAD. They think customers could steal their comforters if there are extra comforters available. OMG! Are you not giving me your precious comforter but only blankets because I look like a person who would steal your precious comforter? Did my skin color and accent match someone who stole your comforter before? All I wanted is to have a comforter to have a good sleep, which I believe one of the very basic service that any hotel, not necessarily pricy like Hilton, should provide their customers with.

Missed opportunity. I was here in 2006 and loved it. I travel over 150,000 miles a year and stay in many hotels in great locations in the United States and Europe.My room was musty, there was no heat (I turned on the shower to heat my room), and the front desk staff was not helpful. Major fail…Very unhappy traveler

I visited this hotel two years ago and it was beautiful and amazing. There were flowers everywhere and I couldn’t wait to come back to share it with my husband Now we are here and everything is brown, no flowers, and even much of the golf course is brown. I called ahead to make sure pool was open as well as pool bar and grill but on our first day found the pool bar to have closed several hours early for the day. The staff is friendly and overworked . my hope is that this hotel gets back to its old condition as it is an amazing location. Due to covid we are doing outdoor activities including the beautiful hiking trails near by. We had hoped to enjoy the pool but no music, no flowers and they make you leave every two hours to clean it. We just came from another hotel and the contrast was unmistakable. I am sad to say we are moving back to that hotel for the remainder of our stay. This beautiful old hotel could use some updating as well.

Its an outdated and overpriced hotel but the views are nice. The Wifi in the rooms is extremely slow and drops constantly. The coffee machines in the room are disgusting and almost unusable. Come for the golf, I guess.

Poor service and dated hotel not befitting of the price and “resort” fees for lackluster amenities. This is not a resort. It is a hotel with a pool and “amenities” such as a free cup of coffee and bottle of water each day. Living on the “Torrey Pines” name but this hotel is not up to par.Where to start on the poor service? 1) Room wasn’t ready at check-in (after check-in time, not early). They had no system to let me know. Just told me to come back in 20 minutes and check. I came back 30 minutes later to stand in 10 minute line only to find out no rooms were ready. Meanwhile, while I stood in line, I heard the attendant tell a just-arrived guest his 2Q room wasn’t ready, but she could book him into a different 2Q that was available (and yet there was nothing for me when I circled back to front of line for the same room type). Instead of giving the first open room to guests that checked in earlier and notifying them their room was ready (and I am Hilton Honors members), I’m supposed to keep circling to the back of the line every half hour and hope I get lucky on my timing when I get to the front? 2) Requested a 4th towel 3 times over 2 days before we finally got one delivered to our room 3) Got set up at check-in for room refresh “every other day” since we have 4 guests in room. I called on the 4th day to confirm that day and they said I “hadn’t reserved” even though I had at check in. I told them we needed service and would be gone for the day and they could come any time just to replace towels and remove overflowing trash, and of course they didn’t come at all. 4) My wife had a package delivered to front desk for her birthday. They didn’t deliver for 2 days even though they could’ve cross-referenced last name. When she went to front desk to ask because she was expecting the delivery, the front desk attendant was rude and unhelpful. Told her they had no packages and would need to know who signed for it. When we called the company to figure out who signed, we went back to front desk. This time, the other clerk, went behind door and came back 10 seconds later with our package. Did we really need to know who signed for it to get someone to check for us when we told them we knew something had been delivered for us? First front desk attendant just wasn’t interested in trying to help and was actually rude to my wife about it for some reason. 5) Upon arrival, flush lever had fallen off the toilet and wasn’t operable so toilet wouldn’t flush. I repaired myself but why am I having to remove toilet lids and re-screw together a lever (at my “resort” hotel) that had probably been loose and ignored for months until it was finally completely unscrewed and hanging loose?We’ve all become accepting of post-pandemic short-staffed hotels and needing to be patient, but this is a poorly run operation and there’s just no interest in trying to serve the guests that are willing to be patient but don’t want to be ripped off with rates and resort fees that aren’t earned.

Lovely location. The hotel felt like it could use a renovation, but the staff was nice and professional. The food beverage credit was a new concept for me and Im not sure how it works. It sounds like you get a card to use, but I never received one. I was told there was one cup of free coffee for the day, but even that was somewhat difficult to take advantage of.

Terrible room and service! Upon checking in I noticed several things that weren’t pleasing in my room. The room itself seemed modern in the pictures but once seen in person it was a different story. As I tried contacting guest services to let them know he basically said “I could just pack up and leave” if I wasn’t content since I’ve already paid for the stay. (They did offer to change me into a different room but I figured they’d all come with different flaws). Mind you this was a vacation that I had been looking forward to for the longest you’d figure the place you rest your head at would be the least of your worries. It was unfortunate that our stay was uncomfortable and gave me anxiety considering how I was treated. I wish I could post all the pictures to show in detail but just to name a few of the things (nail clippings along the windowsill from previous people, the shower faucet head seemed to be coming off the wall, bugs, and dirty used glass cups that were in the room). Very disappointing. Only good thing I could say about this stay was the location & the view.

Pros- Onsite parking garage, made to order breakfast, coffee bar outside of restaurant. Beautiful pool and views.Cons- no microwave available (they will bring one to your room for $30 a day), the 2nd floor can only be accessed by elevator. The main entrance in on the 3rd and the restaurant, fitness center, and pool are on the 1st. The diamond member food credit will not cover the cost of a omelet.

Stayed here for a work trip, the on site, a la carte breakfast was far better than the buffet and def better than room service which FYI didnt really start until 7am which is fine for most folks but for business it could be an issue. Uber drivers consistently had trouble finding the entrance, make them take a turn off the major road where the lantern pathway lights are as the sign as quite hidden (most GPS routed them to U-turn). All of the staff were super helpful and nice, Im sure most stay for golfing but its also close to UCSD and scientific venues as well. Would recommend without hesitation.

The Asian girl at the coffee shop was extremely rude and not cooperative if. The rooms are in need of new carpets and some renovation, the pool was fantastic, the convention rooms were OK, as I said rooms need renovationCoffee shop hours need to be longer till 6pm Especially when theres a convention in the hotel its really annoying and lazy.wifi is awful, fix it, parking is ridiculously expensive!

Overall a Amazing Experience. Starbucks came in handy on days I wanted to sleep in. Fresh Breeze from the ocean 🌊 followed by coastline views was a great way to start my day. Mandatory visit, throughout my stay I barely heard any foot traffic throughout the hallways. Very clean during covid, staff will only clean room if you want your room cleaned. Bartender served my party just fine, also lighting the fireplace poolside to end the night. I do not like the hotel charging extra one time $25 fee for microwave to be shipped to your room, and WiFi is not the best but it’s free. Self Parking is $33 a night, overall if I came back to San Diego I wouldn’t mind paying the rate to stay here. Thank you! 🏌🏽‍♂️

Our rooms are dirty and grimy. It’s just really gross. You can tell they do not give housekeeping enough time to turn over these rooms. They do a really quick not even remotely thorough job of cleaning them and it looks like there’s about 10 years of that build up on everything. Clearly there is no deeper clean in between guests. I thought we were still in a pandemic. I hope I can add photos to my review.

All was great except digital key doesnt work without wifi for the far ends of the hotel and wasnt able to exit the self parking garage without a room key card. The hotel was dated, but not noticeable unless you look close. restaurant pricey, but expected.otherwise, great scenery, walks to the beach and the rest was just fine.
