This has been a solidly consistent restaurant for many years. The food is really good and fresh. Very nice wine list. If I lived in the area this would definitely be a regular stop for me. Its a regular stop anytime. I am in the area though. I love the salad with the blue cheese and the glazed pecans with fresh apple slices. The split pea soup was hearty and perfect for a cold day. The crisp Loosen Riesling was perfect.

Had a lovely late dinner at The Heyday Cafe. The service was fast, friendly and attentive. All the food was delicious and reasonably priced. We had the roasted garlic bulbs, Caesar salad, and the truffle chicken pizza which was fantastic with a rich blend of gooey cheeses and tender chunks of free range chicken.

Wow. What a great little Main St. Cafe.We had Lobster Bisque, pizza and a Hey Day salad. By the way. If youre into salads this place has great eclectic choices. Furthermore the entrees are even more quixotic. Duck. Exotic fruits. Imported meats. This place has a little something for everyone.And the staff is wonderful. Very attentive. Found this spot while exploring around. Came in right at opening time, got a seat immediately even though they already had a lot of reservations ahead of time. The food is really delicious, great selection of interesting food to choose from. The waiter was very courteous and knowledgeable. We loved this spot.

Oh my Goodness!!! My son took me to dinner at Heyday Cafe which has been one of his very favorite restaurants since they opened about 17 years ago... weve always loved our meals there! The food is absolutely delicious. You cant go wrong with any entree. We love, love, love the Duck!!! Beautifully presented and so perfectly done and oh so delicious!!!! The Salmon is just as perfectly done and beautifully presented. The Duck Pate plate is perfectly delicious as well. We cant say enough good things about Heyday! Enjoy!! Another wonderful thing is that the owner makes time to make the rounds to each table to say hello and see how everything is. Just as if he has been your friend for years. No wonder everything is Perfect all of the time. It shows he cares and if there is room for improvement he will make it happen. Go and enjoy yourselves! ♡

Wow!!!! Best pizza I have EVER had. No joke. The manager is so accommodating. Food was running a little behind and he brought out fresh lobster bisque soup. He also provided an excellent truffle oil as a side for our pizza. I am in heaven. If you are in the area, this is a MUST!

Was very busy when we arrived for lunch on a Thursday. There was one open table. Seated quickly. Minnestrone soup and lobster bisque to start. Both really good. Salmon salad and a Hey Day salad for entrees. Good size; not too large. Tatsed great. Salmon was moist and perfectly done.

Worst pizza but if you like cardboard you will be in heaven. We ordered the pepperoni with fresh basil. 45 min wait while others who came after us was served. No apologies or comments from the waitress it was as if business as usual. My six year old grandson could of served it up from the fridge isle from the grocery store. I was so embarrassed for the server and owner. Maybe try something else if you go. You might get lucky.

The food was very good, fresh, and a descent size portion for the prices! We will definitely go back when in town! The food was excellent. Since our group was wine tasting that afternoon, we shared a bottle of red wine which was very good. I did see that they offer a variety of beers on tap which I normally prefer. The waitress was great, very relaxed yet attentive. This is a very nice western saloon offering excellent food and a good variety of beverages.

We stopped through Placerville on our way back from SouthLake and found Heyday Cafe. We were blown away by the just right, diverse menu full of great lunch options. The restaurant was almost full (always a good sign) so we sat at the bar and had a nice time chatting with the staff there. I had the blue crab sliders with a fresh green salad, and my husband opted for the garlic BLTA with a side of potato salad. We were so impressed by the fresh, quality ingredients and full flavors of these dishes. Worth a mention....I cant remember liking a potato salad in a restaurant - ever - until now. Obviously made that day, from the crunchiness of the small bits of celery and onion to the creamy, perfectly seasoned dressing. We cant wait to come back and experience more food here!

Incredible attention by the wait staff-but getting the delicious food to the table took more time than you would have thought. This is a smaller, intimate restaurant in the heart of Placerville with great ambiance. The menu is somewhat limited (salads, some sandwiches & pizza). However, what they do make is delicious to both look at and eat. They have a nice beverage/alcohol menu with variety. Prices are average compared to similar establishments. I would definitely return for a fun lunch with friends!

Today my mom and I went to Heyday Cafe not once, but twice! Once for an early lunch and again for dinner/dessert. All I can say is wow! We got two completely different experiences and they were both amazing! I highly recommend this place! If you want something light, delicious, and still unique the lunch menu is out of this world. And dont get me started on their dinner menu. I did not expect it to be so different, but still so amazing! I have no complaints! The atmosphere was amazing, the food was amazing, portion sizes were perfect, the owner and everyone that works there were absolutely amazing! This is one of the only places that I have ate and felt like I ate something unique and fresh and I didnt feel heavy or sick afterwards.

Been coming here for 7 years. The food quality and quality of service is starting to turn. Not good. Make sure you ask them to space your food out between appetizer and entrée. There was only 3 tables. In the middle of eating our hot appetizer the entrée came. The waiter didnt care and when I asked if they could wait, he got snippy and complained that the kitchen wouldnt like it. I paid $103 for THAT.

This will be our first choice in Placerville going forward! Our other two choices were closed for various reasons but I had saw this place had good ratings so we went ahead with lunch and, Wow!, were we surprised at how good the food was. We even took a lunch to go for the next day it was so good! My daughter had a delicious pizza (I can vouch for it because I ate a slice) and I had a delicious salmon salad that had an amazing dressing. My wife had a chicken salad that she just raved about and she asked for the salmon salad to go. A few notes about the service: very attentive! we interacted frequently with our waiter and it was always great! And the vibe was really great; even though its downtown Placerville and has a cool Old West Gold Rush vibe, the interior was a deconstructed old brick building with no ceiling and exposed rafters. Great experience. We went today with our daughter her fantastic husband and our two grandchildren. After a long day moving their family to Diamond springs from Sacramento, we were famished. Wife daughter and I ordered tacos, Veggie, Baja and piggies respectively. We shared em out one for one each. The veggie was subtle and savory wit a tasty sauce. The pixie was tangy with a soft pungent goat cheese. The shrimp was creamy with a sweet mango chutney and peppers. All served with a fresh slaw different for each plate. Absolutely great tacos. My son in law had the pork sandwich with pickles an krout. He loved it,said it reminded him of an east coast Cuban sandwich. Had the most delicious relaxed and lovely lunch on the way back from Tahoe to the City a couple weeks ago. Nolan was our server and he was friendly, quick and attentive, the restaurant was out of the wine I ordered and he was very gracious about it. I had the Curry Chicken Salad, which I cant stop thinking about and my friend had the Butternut squash salad which she also loved. Fresh perfectly paired ingredients. I love this restaurant. There are so many good places to eat on Main Street. But, Heyday Cafe is in my top two. I love everything I’ve ever eaten there. The staff is friendly, too, which makes it special. The food is delicious as is the wine selection. I highly recommend it to everyone.

Delicious food & wine, friendly staff, and charming atmosphere. Its a small place, frequently busy, so make reservations if you have more than 4 people. The soups are delicious (the lobster bisque is divine, and in summer the heirloom tomato gazpacho is perfect), the salads are wonderful (my favorites are the butternut squash salad or the heyday salad), the pizzas are great, and they have other appetizers and entrees to fit most palates. You really cant go wrong here.

We have been here several times over the last couple of years and every time it gets better and better! Kris (one of the owners) always goes out of his way to stop and say hi to us. The entire staff is always on top of their game, friendly and outgoing. Jessica was our server today and she was fantastic! The lobster bisque is *incredible* and the muffuletta was a highly enjoyable flashback to Louisiana with a bright tang. Everyone was highly attentive, especially the manager (perhaps owner?) and they made for a great mothers day lunch. Our waitress neglected to put our order in and we waited 45 minutes for lunch. We were there after 1:00 and three people were serving the tables. She didnt even remember what we ordered. The food was ok, but not as good as in the past. I use to bring people from out of town for lunch because the service was good and the food was great. Fantastic eatery in the heart of old Placerville. Ben was warm and friendly, and cooked up one of the best paninis I have ever eaten - I had the Mango Chicken, and next time I want to try the chicken pizza with the truffle oil. He suggested an ale that was delicious. They have outdoor seating with some shade, as well as indoor dining. Overall a great experience, I will certainly be back!

I went in with my mom after hearing such great things about the place. Unfortunately, I was pretty disappointed. While its a little pricey, there are other places in the same price range that have better quality items. We had the lobster bisque which everyone raves about, which while I thought it was okay, my mother hated it. We also tried the squash salad and the salmon pizza. The salad was refreshing, and the salmon was delicious. The pizza crust left much to be desired. The service was also not that great. We had to remind two separate waiters for a glass of water and wait over 10 mins for hot tea. For an amazing lobster bisque, Id recommend Bacchus House Wine and Bistro and generally great food and service overall. If youre wanting to stay in the area though, the Indepenent is also far better.

My wife and I were up for the day from Sacramento and after walking the town, Pizza sounded good. We stopped at Heyday to give it a try. What a great decision. Started out with an Israeli wine and a Cesar Salad. The wine was good but what I like about the Cesar was it was All dark leaf, not the white stock that most places use. We decided on a simple pepperoni and their homemade sausage pizza with another glass of wine. Tremendous pizza! Ingredients were not the cheap stuff. Sausage was delicious and the pepperoni was lean and crisp. Why stop there. We decided to give a dessert a try since everything else was great. We decided on Creme’ Brûlée my personal favorite. The Brûlée was dense, flavorful and delicious, one of the best I’ve had.Finished with an Espresso.The General Manager Christian was extremely welcoming and personable. He was there to answer any and all questions. We are planning a return visit in the very near future.

Went there with my girlfriend for our anniversary and was very pleased. Service was prompt and the staff was knowledgeable about their menu. Their lobster bisque was quite pleasant and we shared their braised 1/2 chicken plate. It was very tasty. Their dessert was fantastic! We had the fudge brownie with gelato and we both left full and happy. I gave 4 stars instead of 5 because like most places these days, it was a little pricey. But would definitely go back regardless.

My wife and I usually stop here after spending the day at Apple Hill. It is a smaller restaurant and has a cozy feel to it. The food is always delicious. I usually get the Heyday salad which has a unique vanilla dressing, my wife gets a Greek salad and we typically split a large pizza. The service is always great and the staff is easy to converse with. I would highly recommend the Heyday Cafe if you are in the area.

This place has a secret ingredient… They use it in everything! The only problem with the ubiquitous secret ingredient is that it makes everything taste like an athlete’s foot.The salad, tons of foot cheese. Pizza tons of athlete cheese.The worst part is they make you wait two hours to get your food and 30 min to get your drinks. The lemonade at least helped me choke that meal down. I won’t be back.

Growing up in Placerville and coming back frequently to visit family, I must say this is by far my favorite restaurant to eat at and visit. The staff is amazing and friendly EVERY time. The food is delicious, fresh, and has unique flavor combinations. Their coffee is also a great addition to any meal. I would highly suggest one of their paninis (Chicken, mango chutney is my favorite) or a gourmet salad. If you still have room, their desserts are just as delicious. If you have the opportunity to visit our little town, this is a must stop place!

I have nothing but thanks and gold stars for my dining experience at Heyday Cafe. After a really long day we rolled into Placerville after 8:30 pm on a Thursday. After checking into The Cary House hotel we walked up Main Street to find restaurant after restaurant closed. Making our way back towards the hotel with disappointing thoughts if fast food we noticed The Heyday Cafe was still open and popped our heads in to ask if they were still open for dinner. It was 8:53 and the kitchen closed at 9:00, but they invited us in and encouraged us to have dinner while a handful of dinners finished up their meals. We ordered some small plates to share from the starter menu and a greek salad. Everything was amazing! The sliders with brie, sautéed mushrooms and tomato jam on brioche slider buns had amazing flavors that melded into deliciousness. The cajun spice encrusted prawns were tender, juicy, with just enough kick, the prosciutto wrapped peaches with a lovely salty sweet combination to offset and compliment the prawns. The greek salad with dolma was crisp and fresh and flavorful! The staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming and never made us feel rushed! All in all it was a really excellent dining experience! Highly recommend!

Nice spot in placerville to stop anytime. We met the in laws here on the way home from Tahoe.Unfortunately we had to wait longer than expected and had people. behind us in line get seated in front of us despite having the same group size, it seemed like they were slightly unorganized but the food and service made up for the wait time.Will definitely come back.

Weve been here many times, its delish. Our personal favorites are the heydey salad and the truffle chicken pizza. Prices are a bit on the $$ side, but thats to be expected on Main Street. Servers are attentive, good is yummy, local wines are great. It gets a bit crowded because its rather small, and if you sit on the right brick wall at the low tables it can feel cramped. We prefer to sit on the left at the high tables, or at the window. If you want a window seat you need to make a reservation though, they are hot ticket items.

My sister and our two friends go out to lunch every Friday. We recently went to Heyday Cafe in Placerville and were amazed and impressed. It is a small place so get there early. There is something for everyone on the menu and tends toward healthy ingredients and helpings. I had the pizza and would gladly walk back to Placerville to have it again. Everyone in our party was pleased with their order and service was excellent.

Placerville California, a.k.a. Hangtown, really has a lot of good restaurants. Most of them are on the main drag through town. This place is one of the absolute best. It is small but cozy, has great service, and the food is extraordinarily wonderful. They offer great salads, wonderful entrées, and believe it or not one of the best vegetarian burgers anywhere I’ve ever been. Many of the professionals that work in the Area diner here for lunch. It’s also a great place to meet friends and have a great conversation while you eat some of the best food anywhere.

I adore this place! Stopped here after a horrible trip through the mountain, on the way back from Tahoe. We were cold, tired, and irratated, Hey Day melted our blues away. The Crab Linguini was the best seafood pasta dish I have ever had! The mix of the hot, yet sweet chili peppers, the mint and the wine sauce were a perfect compliment to the delicate crab meat. I highly recommend this spot next time you are in the area.

Very slow service... No updates, no appologies until I said something, the server just kept refilling water. They didnt even come back to check on us after that. Dont go, you are wasting time. Food wasnt filling for the price you pay. It took 10 min to bring water and the menu, and just salad and pizza took 40 min. This is just ridiculous…

Was a favorite of mine for years until the last 6 months. I’m in there about once a month and portion sizes have shrunk considerably on there $16 lunch sandwiches I have picked up for the office. Also was there over the weekend, waited 15 minutes and then asked if I had been assigned a server. We ordered the brie which was dry and had zero presentation appeal. It sat on a leaf of lettuce with a a handful of pecans thrown on the plate. Once again had to wave down management and help to order more drinks and our entree’s. My duck was an off presentation, actually soup like. My friends short ribs were so tough she had to saw thru them with a steak knife. There was a party of 6 beside us that sat down after us and left before we even got our entrees. Then to top things off upon setting the check down the slow and snarky waiter says “hope this was fast enough for you.” From here on out I’ll go elsewhere to spend $130 and wait 2 hours for dinner.

This was my favorite place to go about 2 years ago. Unfortunately the night we went was a disaster for us. Even with reservations we still had to wait 15 mins for a table and the server didnt come to great us until at least 15 more mins after we had gotten sat. We spent one and a half hours there eventhough we ate our food within 10 minutes. Very disappointed.
