We hired this company for my wifes birthday party and could not have been happier. Lee was a total pro, an amazingly intuitive and talented DJ, and a joy to work with. From the walk thru meeting to the setup to the party to the wrap out, he was easygoing, thorough, and considerate. I found their pricing to be very reasonable and absolutely worth every dollar.

Lee and Miles and the rest of the Hey Mr DJ team have DJd our last two Proms and Reunion Event (I work for a private school). They get the kids to dance more than any DJ weve ever hired (VERY hard to do in 2024) and also have been really helpful with light design for the events. They are very professional and easy to work with. I highly recommend them for any occasion.

The owner, Lee, worked with our company leading up to our big holiday event to ensure that all DJ & lighting needs were met. He prepped by visiting the venue prior to the event to guarantee the day-of operation of sound and lighting would run smoothly. Everything from the GoBo projection to the fun DJ set was absolutely perfect and kept the energy up! He made our corporate event a fun and eventful night for all! Lee is the man! He thinks of everything so that at the wedding you are fully prepared. Everything from pronunciations & emphasis of peoples names to having a very clear timeline (that is easy to set up with him) makes for a stress free wedding and a night of fun! During the wedding, Lee would always check in with us and make sure that we are ready to move into the speeches or move into the dances or move into the cake cutting, etc. This allowed us to be in control instead of having a rogue DJ that had their own schedule. This was super professional and courteous.He played all the specialty songs that we wanted, and he asked us for a general ideas list of the other type of music that we wanted. Be sure to be very clear about what is a must play vs. the general ideas list. We made sure that the last 3 songs were must play, and he was sure to play them.Throughout the event, Lee went around and made sure that the speakers were the right level and that everything was working and not too quiet or too loud.During the ceremony, he micd the quartet and micd the officiant. Providing a mic for the quartet is a MUST! This was his idea, and it was so much better having them amplified. Both our venue loved him and the wedding planner loved him as well.He is a genius at reading the crowd and choosing the PERFECT next song. He kept everyone dancing and singing the entire night.

A+ experience all around! Hey Mister DJ handled everything for our virtual client event. We wanted something different than an ordinary zoom happy hour, and Name That Tune and Trivia were perfect! They did all of the heavy lifting and made us look great. We had excellent feedback from a number of clients, including the following email: Thank you, again, for a fabulous night of trivia! I haven’t laughed that much in a while. Your team is always so thoughtful on planning and executing events that are fun and participatory. The mix of trivia and breakout rooms gave us some game-time and the chance to interact. It was also a bit of a jog down memory lane with the throwbacks to the 80s and 90s! Lee is fantastic! We hired Lee back in 2019 to DJ our wedding. He stuck with us through the pandemic craziness for the last 2.5 years and finally made our wedding dreams come true on June 5, 2021. The custom wedding website he provides is super helpful! My husband and I had fun filling out the wedding questionnaire/playlist and choosing all our music with Lee. Lee is a pro and a breeze to work with. After we first met him, we immediately felt confident in his expertise and ability to work a crowd. I was very particular with not wanting a stereotypical cheesy wedding DJ and Lee is totally cool, no cheese at all. Lee did a great job of pulling songs from our playlist while adding in some of his own (great) choices when he felt like it was needed. So many of our guests commented on how much they loved the music at our wedding! Also, the lighting package we ended up renting through Lee worked out great. It really brought an otherwise boring room to life. There were many things I was stressed about leading up to the big day, but the DJ was not one of them - I had full confidence in Lee and he really did a wonderful job.

Lee (the owner) was truly the most friendly, organized, and thoughtful DJ we spoke with initially--and that definitely remained true throughout the planning process. My best advice for those planning a wedding: listen to the experts, especially those who have worked at your venue! Hiring the DJ was not my task, but as mother of the bride, I was thrilled with Lee and his crew from Hey Mister DJ. During the planning process, he asked the bride and groom for their play list and their “do not play” list, and seamlessly wove their selections into the evening music, reading the crowd like only an experienced DJ can, keeping the dance floor occupied all night. He handled introductions and announcements with ease, no “cheese,” and kept his talking to a minimum. Quail Ranch in Simi Valley is an expansive outdoor venue, and he and his crew set up the sound system for each area - ceremony, cocktail hour, and then reception - perfectly and unobtrusively, including accommodating a live keyboardist for the ceremony. The entire venue, the whole day, had continuous, lovely music as guests moved about. I promise you will be happy and have no worries if you hire Hey Mister DJ!

He helped me time the first dance, father/daughter and mother/son exactly as I wanted, and I loved their website playlist functionality. He was able to read the crowd the whole night and got everyone up and dancing within minutes. Everyone raved later how much fun they had! Lee asks for lists of Must Play, Try to Play, and Do Not Play, however he doesnt need too much instruction or detail to get what it is you like or dont. This is huge for a bride who may already be overwhelmed by the number of decisions and details that have to be made, at least that was my case. Anyone who knows me knows that music is one of the most important things in my life. That’s probably why as soon as my husband proposed, one of the very first things I did was start researching DJ’s. And boy, did I RESEARCH! I stumbled across Hey Mister DJ and was amused that that was the title of one of the songs by my favorite band. That didn’t matter though because Lee seriously blew the competition out of the water. It wasn’t just his obvious talent or skill, but when he agreed to meet with me and my husband, we felt so at ease with him, as if we were meeting an old friend for coffee. I seriously loved how he didn’t try to push anything on us. He even gave us a book on finding the right DJ to help us make our decision, even if that decision meant hiring someone else (spoiler alert: it didn’t). Putting together the playlist was a breeze. The actual day of our wedding, so many things went wrong. I’m usually the picture of calm and collected, but I was a bundle of stress and nerves. The second the music started though? It was like all of that stress instantly melted away. Lee did a PHENOMENAL job as our DJ and MC. I spent a majority of the night on the dance floor because he really listened to what we/the crowd wanted. Oh and as an added bonus, he did our lighting, too! We didn’t even talk much about it because it was a last-minute addition, but he nailed what we were looking for. Hiring Lee was definitely one of the best decisions we made for our wedding!
