I was having issues with my TREK ELECTRIC GO and took it to my recent TREK certified bike shops in the area & they told me since I bought it in Newport Beach they couldnt work on it! This was egregious. I remembered Helens was a TREK certified bike shop I gave them a call. Mario told me my options and I dropped it off. Greg from the shop called two days later and told me about his thorough analysis and his findings. He also told me about my warranty options which I had no clue about it and in fact I was covered. The service was so great/the bike shop is in such great condition [ cool vibes ] Greg helped me and educated me on a mountain bike that I ended up purchasing. Helens is my go to TREK and overall bike shop. Great service regardless if you are buying a $5,000 bike or a $200 beach cruiser or just getting a tire changed! Customer Service!

We visited 4 other LA area bike stores before purchasing my husband’s Trek bike at Helen’s in Manhattan Beach. I also had them tune up my 5 year old Trek and add knobby tires and a rack. My husband and I are very happy.

I recently had a 10/10 experience at Helens Cycles, and I cant thank them enough. I was recently in town for a few days and brought my bike along but ran into some mechanical issues with my Di shifting and needed to get it fixed. I called Helens Cycles to make an appointment, and told them I was in town for only a few days. Despite their mechanics being fully booked, they told me to bring my bike in anyways, and they would see what they could do.I was greeted by friendly and attentive staff as soon as I walked in. They took a look at my bike and quickly diagnosed, and resolved the issue. I was back out the door and, on the road, later that morning! They even took the time to explain to me what had gone wrong with my bike and how they had fixed it.I can say the level of customer service I received at Helens Cycles was outstanding. The staff was knowledgeable, friendly, and went out of their way to help me, despite their busy schedule. I felt like a valued longtime customer, even though I was from out of town and only there for a few days.

It’s a great experience every time I walk into Helen’s. Everyone on the staff is very welcoming, helpful, and knowledgeable. Greg and Seth are usually the 2 gentlemen I work with when I go in and they’re awesome. Great at listening to what I need and offering suggestions. Even answer my many dumb questions :) and don’t make me feel bad about asking them. The times I’ve dropped my bike off for service it’s been a quick turnaround and the work is always quality. I’d absolutely recommend Helen’s!

If you want a first class experience, concierge level service plus fantastic product knowledge, spend some time getting to know the team at Helens Cycles either at Santa Monica or the Manhattan Beach locations. I had a flat a bit ago and it was after closing on a Saturday but the team took me in to change the tire, answered all my questions and didnt even charge me. I forgot a part I purchased and they shipped it to the Helens in Manhattan Beach.This is the kind of service that makes a person stay a customer for life.

The worst service EVER. They overcharged me. They told me by the phone that all the work would cost me 50usd more. I said yes. Then when I went to pick up the bike they told me it was 86usd. Of course I had to pay that to get my bike back.Then i asked for the cheapest lights and they tried to sell me the 40usd ones instead of the 10usd ones that they had. The price is ridiculous and so it is the service. So disappointed.

Seth is the bomb! He was super informative, helpful, and so approachable. He even made sure I had all the info I needed to do some research on the bikes I had ridden, but I ended up coming back that evening to purchase my new Trek. It was quick and painless and one of the best bike shop experiences I’ve had. I also love that I get to bring the bike back in for a year of service! The impressive service that I received from Super Mario was beyond my expectations. He took the time to talk about each bike that I was interested in and also let me test ride them to explore my options. He never hesitated to get a bike off the rack, put pedals on the bikes, and inflate the tires. That was a lot of work for him to do not even knowing if I would purchase a bike! But in the end, it all worked out and Im satisfied.

This place is pretty great, I was able to try out different bikes and the staff are very helpful in servicing the customers and giving helpful suggestions even if its recommendations to visit another shop for parts or to wait for a new model thats coming in. It really made me feel that I was being helped and not just trying to sell me stuff. For that reason I feel more inclined to support these great local bike shops as they are a pretty tight knit community and will even call each other to help out their customers with hard to find parts.I had Matty help me get my gravel bike; I had initially went in looking for another brand but after testing it out and comparing it with others, I realized I liked the feel and ride of the one I ended up buying.Helens cycles gave me good service and Im confident I will be returning here for parts and service in the future and would recommend to my friends.

Spectacular customer service. With the national bike shortage, Im very grateful that this location lets customers sign up for a waiting list. I got the bike I wanted two days after putting my name on the waiting list. Seth helped me out the whole time, and he was exactly the kind of sales representative you want to interact with. I have an old frame from maybe the 80s. Its had a lot of various parts strung on it over the years. I use it as commuting transportation to my job and to make grocery runs, but have not given it much love in the last 10ish years. I brought it in dirty, rough, in need of a new chain, new spoke, a cleaning, and a whole host of other stuff to make it less creaky and more worky. The folks at Helens Cycles did an excellent job and got it all back to me faster than they said they would and for a completely fair price. This is one of the top bike shops in the South Bay and LA.

I am in LOVE!! I stopped by a few days ago to check out the store and prices. Seth was patient and helpful.Today I went back with my daughter to buy a bike for her. Greg was helping us. Again, super helpful and patient. Turns out they dont have the exact bike my daughter wants (but theyll call us when it arrives). So we got a new seat for her current bike (as a place holder).Oh, and while we were there... i finally bit the bullet to figure out what bike is best for me.... a townie. A beautiful olive green townie. I went for a ride as soon as I got home. I havent ridden a bike in 15 years or more. All I can say is I am in LOVE!!Beautiful bike, great service. Looking forward to getting my daughter her bike soon 💜Updated to say: I’ve been in here many times now. Every time, great service. It doesn’t matter if I’m alone, with one kid, or both. I went here once when I was looking to get a mountain bike, the service is horrible. The staff is not friendly or helpful at all. When I went in I tried getting someone to help me but I just got the silent treatment. My brother got the same experience when he went. I would never recommend this place to anyone. Youre much better off going to the Helens cycle in Santa Monica the staff is actually helpful. I got my mountain bike from the Helens cycle in Santa Monica and I love it.

Seth made the experience great. He greeted me when I arrived and knew exactly what cycling shoe to present as a replacement for my old cracked pair of cycling shoes. He also installed the cleats on the shoes without me having to ask. It was an efficient and positive experience. My rear shifter cable snapped on my Trek Domane 5.2 after about 6000 miles of riding. I also took the bike in for a full clean and tuneup with their ultra clean package. I also had them install new cables for both shifters and brakes, Duo trap sensor, seat, cable housing, and new bar tape. I must say that the customer service and attention to detail the mechanic Marshall was above and beyond what I would expect from a normal bike shop. The bike feels and looks like new and the new yellow bar tape they installed looks great! The work was performed on time per the appointment and I received my bike back immediately! Thanks Marshall! Will always use Helens Cycles in the future for all bike needs! I do wish that the Manhattan location had a wider selection of shoes and helmets. The Santa Monica store is larger, but is further away. Not faulting them on this since the store is smaller. Reason I mention this is at the time I made the service appointment, the yellow bar tape and Jagwire yellow cable kit was not available in the store and I had to order separately from other bike shops.

I had an incredible experience at Helens cycles. I had just come from a very unsatisfactory visit at REI and decided to go to Helens for assistance. I was helped by Edgar, a wonderful employee who fixed my bike up right away. Edgar was truly wonderful to me, especially after having such a frustrating time at REI. I came here with my daughter for a helmet and a bike in an attempt to buy local instead of a big chain. Walked around 10 min and no one offered to help. Asked an employee for help and he said he was busy even though he was literally just standing around. Asked someone else else to help and he was busy as well. So we left. I guess they reserve their customer service for guys who look like they may drop 6 grand on a bike.Side note: my husband, a white male, has never had this issue when he goes there aloneMy advice to the company would be to keep in mind that your favored demographic may have wives and children. Dont bother bringing bike in for service during the shutdown youll be on line for hours to drop off and to pick up and let people they know cut the line, they should take all service from the back door instead having people they know sneak around back. Had to bring the bike to another shop because the repair failed 3 hours after we received it and they said they used the wrong size tube in the tire. Good luck

I just got ripped off at Helen Cycles. I dropped my bike off to get my rear wheel trued up and the front and rear derailleur adjusted, ok great. The tech said, Hey your breaks are a little worn and i have been using these break pads and they have been great, do you want to try them?He handed them to me and I said, Yeah it is about time Ill get them and started to walk toward the the check out to buy them.He stopped me and said, Ill put them on for you.It being a 60 second job, I thought oh, thats nice and said, Ah, thanks. and handed back the break pads to him.When I picked up my bike today, not only did they charge me for a job that took them less than a minute, they charged me $30! When I went to speak to the service guy about it he couldnt even look me in eye and just kept muttering, I dont set the prices, sorry.There prices are high, fine, I get it they are in MB, I had no problem paying $20 for the wheel true and $28 for the F&R derailleur adjustment, but the $30 for the breaks a nothing job is ridiculous, especially when you make it sound like your are going to just do it as a throw in since I was spending $300.

If you tend to think Cosco is a good place to buy a bike, this is not the shop for you. But if you want something more durable and will last, Helens has the gear. Great selection of the top bike brands and experts and setup and repairs. Not the cheapest place around but the only place I trust my bikes to.

The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, they can talk about the synthetic materials and how that can affect the bikes ride. The staff is relatively young, dont be surprised if you see a teen with braces trying to convince you to buy the latest hybrid bike. They allow you to enjoy a practice ride with the bike before purchase and usually they give you a couple bonus items with any purchase of a bike. I would recommend this for people who are looking at a bike as an investment, because some of the road bikes can range upwards of $500+.

Im done with Helens. Ive gone there 4 times and they are yet to stock what Im looking for. Only one of the 4 times did they even offer to order the part I needed. I gave them my contact info and was told the part would be there in a few days, I never heard from them and a week later called for a follow up. Nobody ordered the part I needed and they really didnt seem to care.

The Store had a very wide selection of bycicles and accessories, I was allowed to test drive the bycicle, and the employee was very very helpful and clearly knowledgeable about bycicles, and helped me pick out accessories and such for my bycicle, helped us understand how to use it, and was very kind and helpful in explaining everything, as well as the process of insuring the bycicle and the process of using that insurance in other places. If I need a bike or repair I will definitely go to Helens.

Called them about renting a mountain bike and they said Jeff was the person to speak with, but he wasnt around yet. They took down my name and number to have him call me when they came in. Never heard back so I called again and then he was at lunch. I asked if I could just rent a mountain bike and talk to someone else, but again they insisted I had to speak with Jeff. Day ended and still no word from him.Went to Hermosa Cyclery, Inc instead and had an awesome experience and they spent a ton of time with me showing the best places to go.
