I grew up going to Half Price Books in South TX. It was so refreshing to walk into this store after having not visited an HPB in 10yrs. I went on a Friday morning for a mental health day. It was so nice. The books were organized, and there were so many options not just the current mainstream books. I was pleasantly surprised to find a book from one of my favorite authors. I genuinely had a nice time carefully selecting my next read.

I highly recommend visiting this store as it offers a remarkable experience for all book enthusiasts. Upon entering, youll notice an extensive collection of new bestsellers displayed prominently to the right, demonstrating that they dont solely focus on old or used books. They carry all the latest popular titles, including books by authors like Michelle Obama, but at more affordable prices. The entire store is impressively well-organized, with categories that make perfect sense. Each category boasts at least six shelves filled to the brim with books in excellent condition.Although I specifically visited the medicine collection, I was pleasantly surprised by its exceptional variety and quality. I believe this store is a must-visit for every reader, book collector, or anyone exploring new interests. Furthermore, its an excellent place to find exceptional gifts, as they also offer items such as puzzles and tarot cards alongside their vast selection of books.

If you’re downsizing, this is the best place to unload books, cds, audio tapes, VHS tapes, even vinyl … they offer a very fair price for your entire collections, and it’s a wonderful place to browse for same! The staff is very friendly and patient, and are really great with their assessments of your precious pieces.. I highly recommend

Had to wait almost 2 hours. I had about 5 Korean Bibles. Very good shape. They gave me $2.00 for all of them. I was upset. The employee I had didnt seem to know what he was doing. He stood around talking most of the time. Didnt care I was waiting so long.

I love books. I love movies. This store offers both, often at really good prices. This is a wonderful store to wander around. I rarely spend less than an hour each time I go. This trip, I actually had a list. While I only found one of the items, it was the one I wanted the most. Very happy!! 😊

Wonderful collection of books here available at half the MRP. My husband had been looking for a particular management book which didnt seem to be available anywhere. We asked the staff at this shop and he immediately found the book for us. I was impressed by his knowledge that I could figure out in just a few words he spoke.They have a clearance section as well and other kinds of cute accesories. If you are looking to buy books, best to try this store before ordering online or elsewhere.

Today was my second attempt to sell some old books. First time the wait time was about an hour and thought of visiting later. Today, it was half an hour and I checked in. The staff who was supposed to price the books didn’t care about people’s time, and was more interested in conversations with other customers even after their business was done. The funny part was the conversation was about “customer service”. I know they are busy but can’t take for granted and need to respect people’s time.

This review is based solely on my own experience and hopefully seen as a constructive comment from a customer perspective.They have tons of books and are reasonably priced. They also have DVDs and records - didnt venture out on those aisles so didnt get to see their prices. They buy books and I think DVDs. For childrens books - they have picture books, pop up, fiction and nonfiction. They have early reader books (PreK, TK, Etc). The most well organized book store I have been to in my life. I have toured book stores that have a larger stock but they dont have the same system of efficieny categoriazation this store has. Used book prices were reasonable.

It is always a joy when a new book by a popular author is in the stores inventory. And, while my recent purchase had to be transferred from the Fremont store the book was in immaculate condition (hardback). It was a Tolkein title.I first saw the title at the library, which prompted a call to my Dublin store. There is a copy of the Silmarillion in store, but it is in German. It was a beautiful copy with full plate color pictures.This was an anniversary gift, so getting a call on August 1 to say it was in was wonderful news. The staff are always so nice, especially when I saw all the books coming in. So, I really appreciated the voicemail they left.If you purchase online you have to pay shipping. However, if the title is at another location they will transfer it for free, so you save at least $3.99. When we are all trying to be creative Half Price has given us a money saving tip. Try it out. Truly, Reduce, Re-Use, Recycle.

One of my whole familys favorite stores. From my mother and brother, to my husband & children. We adore it. There is something there for everyone. I just bought a record player, a Bernie Sanders doll, Magic the Gathering gaming pieces, headphones, boardgames, bookmarks, Bob Ross mints, and of course tons of books.Plus, the employees have always been sweet and helpful.I just love this place.

Just want to write a review for the book buyer attendants -- you all are very patient, and professional and I always love the energy in the store. I was into helping my partner sell four or five boxes of materials and knew it was a hefty order. They mentioned a few people ahead, and about a 45 minute wait. I had no where to be. Of course I found myself a couple textbooks to help me study, and picked them up cheap at $10 a copy.Really, theres two parts of this. I was in the store for over two hours. I did get $168 dollars. Worth it!When I came up once and asked the status of the process, I mentioned my afternoon was free but my beloved dog was home alone and I hate leaving him crated for long (even though hes fine and really doesnt care if hes in there.) Mary at the buyback counter was exceptionally nice, complimented me/my partners selection of items, and mentioned the store is pet friendly *to well behaved animals* and I was welcome to bring my boy with me next time I come in.I know thatll be soon, and Rinzlr is excited to meet you, Mary (and rest of staff!) All of your energies are infectious and amazing. You folks handled a major Karen who was hovering over you while you processed her order after it wasnt 30 minutes on the dot. She was quite rude, and you all handled it with grace.Thanks for what you do!

I primarily came to this place for half priced board games. I wish there was a catalogue of what theyve decided to keep in this section because I found 5-6 copies of Scattergories and 2-3 copies of Bibleopoly. Its not the most exciting selection compared to Berkeleys location.

Went to go turn in some things for credit and again was disappointed as always. They give you scraps for quality merchandise and then raise the price 400% or more to sell it! Reminded me of why its just much better to sell online where even asking the bare minimum you still get a better deal. How this place stays in business I dont know. Even, the fun section in the front with all the games and oddities has been cleared out.

Have always loved going to half price books. Love their affordable pricing and beautiful selection of toys and trinkets throughout the store. I love their kids books section. Great to see a varied collection of books on all things interesting. The toys section is small but every other they house is useful and engaging. Everytime we go, we love getting a lot of nice stuff for very affordable prices.Few other things worth mentioning about the store us, its extremely well organized and clean. The staff s are knowledgeable, cordial and friendly and they help with finding whatever you are looking for. So far I have had quick check out as well. Would love to go back for more books and cool stuff.

You can find good gems here some are at okay price. That’s probably the best part.If you want to recreate an old nonstandard bookstore feel, this’s probably a good place to visit. This’s probably the second best part.Selling books is probably a bad idea. Takes too long — 30-60+ min. You must be at the store. And, you will get next too nothing… if you hang out at the counter you will hear a different version of surprise from folks who sell.Otherwise clean and well organized. My kids and I love to hang out here occasionally.

I love coming here. The people are helpful, the books are plentiful. Theres not much more you can ask for. Every time I come I find some new unexpected treasure I didnt know I needed. Weve found my father records, my husband video games, my mother knitting books, and now childrens books for my baby.I wish they started trading books earlier in the day, but other than that theyve always been polite and helpful to my whole family.

Brought a box of books to trade in for cash.Upside: getting cash for booksdownside: middle of the day, middle of the week and it still took nearly 2 hours for an offer to be made.While Id have liked to see the offer be a bit better as we traded in a batch of textbooks and drove from Modesto, something was better than nothing and we werent about to drag them back with us and try to find space to pack them. Wouldve been nice if a half price books was a bit closer, but of no consequence now that weve moved from the area.

This is a great book store for some good old fashion book browsing. Bring some of your unwanted books with you and turn them in for a discount off your purchase, just be prepared to wait a while as they look through the book you brought.Teachers: half price books will donate used books to your classroom library! I love the concept of Half Price Books. It’s great. One store where new and old books are housed, sold, and bought to resell. Odd little trinkets throughout the store and affordable prices for everything.Wish there were more of these stores available it really is a great concept and is a great help to book lovers looking for both new and old books, hard to find books or rare books, which I’m not really sure what that means. Maybe one day I’ll remember to ask.Another great thing about these stores is the idea to sell books rather than just donating them, it may not be a lot of money that you get back for your books, but a little something can better than nothing.The few drawbacks I’ve found with these stores are the time it can take to sell back Books, CD’s Movie’s, or anything else they will accept. If you’re buying a used book, it can be pretty beat up, and the stores I’ve been in haven’t been very well lit.The Dublin store, is pretty large, ample parking not congested, for the most part their staff is helpful and nice, and easy to find and get to. Its just off the 580 freeway on Dublin Blvd.

If you really want quality used books at a good price this place is better than the, admittedly cooler, used book stores I’ve visited in SF (near the mission).Also, they sell used video games and dvds. The selection is good and decently priced. It is worth double checking on the amazon for better offers though.Finally, about quarterly they do very good sales, up to 50%, with few restrictions.

On the opposite side is Daiso...and Ranch 99 and Jamba juice...

I sold my books to them and was practically insulted by the price they gave me. I had multiple books in pristine condition and they only gave me 5 bucks for the lot. Additionaly while some of my books had their jackets missing they were all in perfect condition, yet they refused to buy them off of me. Despite the fact that I saw multiple hard cover books in their shop without hard cover jackets.The only upside is that they have a variety of books to choose from, some that I havent seen in years.In short buy books from this shop, but NEVER sell your books. You are better off selling on amazon or ebay.

I went here with my cousin so she could sell her books to the store. They take books you do not want, but not all of them. The reason for 4 star is because they made us wait an entire hour just for them to check the books They bought all her books except for one and she got some good money back for the books they bought from her. It can be daunting to have couple hundred books that you are trying to get rid of. They helped us purchase some and offered to donate the rest. Its a time consuming process where you have to have the drivers license and then wait until they scan through each book once yiur turn comes around. You cant leave the store but they are upfront about the process and you know wheat to expect. Definitely recommend to buy or sell used books!

I go to HPB often but mostly because its the only secondhand book store in the area. They give less and less for used materials every year just like every other place does, but thats probably because they have so much inventory. Youll find a good variety of genres as well as lots of new gifts and novelty items. They have a great selection of records, vintage books, and collectables. Books are a little higher than they maybe should be priced, but you will get great deals on clearance racks of things they really want moved. There arent often people walking about to ask for help, but everyone there is friendly. Its a fun place to window shop or buy gifts.

This is a great place to find some classic board games and those older movies that you might be missing from your collection. This is a great store, especially necessary for older or obscure items, though this particular branch always looks criminally understaffed. I humbly recommend not trying to sell used items here, as their massive overstock will prevent a fair exchange rate. that sounds harsh, but I used to work in a similar store. recommend this place to everyone, as each branch had a differently varied inventory.

Went on Sunday almost 1pm. Store was relaxed and uncrowded. They are buying books every day 10a-6p. I used one of the many carts to bring in my books and CDs. Super friendly staff took my stuff and I was called in less than 10 mins. Bought all the books and some of the CDs. This is my 2nd time and they were great.

They have a ton of books at great prices (hence the name). Some of their merchandise tends to be a bit too religious-y such as bible character dolls, action figures, etc.Their religious book section is pretty big and I had to search for quite awhile to find the few atheism related books they had. Dont bother looking for a dedicated section labeled atheism because it doesnt exist.Besides this, though, its a pretty good place to look for books.

Living in Pleasanton for 6 months (and returning weekly another 6 months), the Dublin Half Price Books was my favorite regular place to visit. So, being back in the area I had to stop by...and I wasnt disappointed. Huge selection of books, videos, and music (plus more) with gems throughout.And, they may not all be half price, but they are definitely great deals. :-)

Update: The manager called me back and explained that embarrassing me was not his intentions and they used this incident as a Teachable moment.... we can all learn from our mistakes, I know I have... the customer service was amazing.... anyone who can admit that they should have handled the situation better and ask for suggestions is a place I will keep shopping! Thank you for acknowledging us!We have been going to this book store for years! My son will spend hours here looking at the books, music, cd, records, vhs, and vintage video games! He loves it! We come usually 2x a week sometimes more!But we had a vary bad experience there today! My son has Tourette’s and usually everyone is so awesome, and patient with him as he says hi and counts out his money but today the manager Thomas told me in front of everyone if he didn’t quiet down we would have to come back when the store wasn’t open to the public..... it was a very shameful moment and I felt for the first time as a parent of a child with a disability discriminated against.... (he wasn’t causing a scene, nor was he upset, his Tourette’s noises are things he can’t control) I don’t think we will be shopping here again

Great place to give old books a second life, but only if book is on the selection list. Due to covid and unavailable donation centers HPB is unable to accept unwanted books for recycling. HPB notes accepting VHS and DVD, but few if any were. Save yourself the trouble of hauling in VHS tapes and toss into your own recycle bin.

I would have overlooked it the first time, but when he continued to yell at various employees I decided I just didnt need my books that badly.
