It was a nice bookstore and had a little of everything. I found a few comics I had been looking for, but when I went up to the register, the cashier charged me twice for a package that listed 2 books. When I got home, I was horrified to realize they put the price sticker ON THE COVER!!!Why would you put a sticker on the front cover where it damages the book? It had a perfectly good plastic bag on it that could have had the sticker on it. It saddens me to think of all the other books they may have damaged like that youd think people who work in a bookstore would care more about books being damaged.

Very clean and organized second hand bookstore. They also feature music collections, board games, toys, collectables and other electronics. They have nice sized music collection of CDs, records and other media. Staff is very helpful and friendly. I see that they also buy back books. Seems to be a very low rate as seeing some patrons leave or complain.

I just called this store and offered to donate my set of Jean AuL earths children hardbound books and was told they do not deal over the phone and DO NOT take donations! Very very rude for a small family owned business! Guess Ill take my donation to the nearest Hospice location where it will be appreciated. So much for attempting to support small businessed!

This place buys the books from you and gives you cash that same day. We took a lot of craft books. They explained they scan the books to see how many they have in stock and how they sell. They then give a price to you. You then decide if you want to accept. Very nice staff

This is one of my favourite stores! The range of books and their quality is incredible, and to get them at a fraction of the cost is unreal. They are used books, but majority of the time they look pretty new. I managed to buy 18 books for under $100 where as one book normally costs me $20 at regular book stores.They also have cool collectable books, board games, and vinyls worth checking out.The staff are super helpful and kind, and gladly helped me find the books I was looking for.

Personally felt this place does not have customer’s best interests in mind when you sell your books. I sold 6 books and a nursing textbook for $6. The books I sold are still trending and in good condition. I hope to have gotten more money but I was another unaware customer. So beware when selling books!!

Awesome store! Amazingly-priced books and really nice staff, especially the man at the front counter! (I didnt catch his name but he was a bit gray and had a beard! Very cheery and friendly, same goes for the guys in the back of the store!) I got 6 Tom Clancy hardcover books in really good condition for $12, $7 after I sold a couple books in the back; made my day! :) Great place to trade in old books and come out with new ones, honestly.

Great place to find used books and dvds. I collect comics and manga and found a good amount of them here. Some of the pricings are ridiculous but if the price tag date shows thats its over a year old, you can ask them if theyre able to update the price. Ive done that a few times and got a few things for cheaper.

Store is great if you buy, we come here all the time for my wife and sons book needs, however, if you want to sell, oh boy, avoid it, I got a handful of games checked and they literally lowballed me with a mere $75, I went to fair game retro and they actually gave me a decent offer, definitely not selling my stuff here. And the staff members checking the games need to learn to handle the items with care and differentiate whats a scratch and whats light dirt which can be removed with a proper cleaning method, one of my games was scratched while they were reviewing it, really disappointed with the selling experience. Forgot to mention that the lady that spoke with me about my games didnt even bother to put one of the games in the protective sleeve, again very disappointed and probably wont be coming back here anymore.

Books are fantastically priced if you dont mind a little wear on them. They had a 20% off everything sale for labor day weekend. I bought 3 hard cover Dark Tower Series books (complete with artistic renditions throughout the book) and 2 other paperbacks for 29 dollars. Talk about a steal considering one of those dark tower books would be 30 dollars. Friendly and helpful staff. Very satisfied.

Only problem is you have to wait in the store while they process your buy. Seems like they could just as easily call you. I have other things id rather do than mill around a bookstore for 30 plus minutes. But if you like that kind of stuff its a pretty okay used book store so you probably wont mind being stuck there.

This is an amazing bookstore. They have great prices and products; anything considered media(books, VHS, DVDs, records, cassette tapes, video game). You can easily spend hours in this location just browsing, not because of layout( which is greatly organized) but because youll find so much you never knew you needed. Such a cool spot for new and used books. The price isnt a massive discount often but still, a good deal for the quality of books they sell. They have such a huge variety. Like a mini version of Powells book store in Oregon. They have little coves of each topic which makes it kinda homey feeling. The atmosphere is pretty cool and definitely makes you easily spend an hour minimum if you love books.

Books, books, movies, games, music. Holy damn. You think this is kind of a hidden gem here in Sacramento?? I love how they sell music. Not streaming, digital stuff, but actual ancient relics called CDs and vinyl records!Books, games ... everything is clean and labeled. Also, the selling process is a great way to give your goods a new home. I always feel bad when I donate my beloved books, knowing that theyll get lost in a donation store. They are here to make a profit. They use Abebooks to see how much your books are valued and buy it for cheap. They know the value, turn around and offer you pennies. Go online and do your homework before selling your book. It may have value and dont let them take advantage of you. Donate it to the library or goodwill. Not worth the trip.

Best book store ever! I LOVE the clearance section and all the coupons they have. Much better than your typical Barnes and Noble. Its nice and quiet, and all the employees are very welcoming. They will also buy used books, which is great for when Im done reading the books I bought from their clearance section. Its like renting a book for $1-$3. They also carry movies, music, games, gifts, etc. and you can even find some really cool collectibles!

Within 5 minutes I knew I had to go get a basket, too many books. With prices at least half off the cover why not buy a bunch! Over 400 books great condition was offered less then cost for 1 book new what a waist of time and the guy was rude and wouldn’t even help put my books back in the boxes just had them spread out and made me (6 months pregnant) load them back to the boxes and try to put them on the cart but they ripped the boxes making it impossible to actually take them out the way they had come in. Would not sell my books here and after my experience will not be buying from them which is too bad probably would have been a place I would shop at even if didn’t sell my books had it not been for the rude worker and how they treated me and my books after I declined there offer. Lots of better book places around this area that could use your business more and offer better money on buybacks and better customer service.

The experience here is pretty varied. Good prices for books and movies always. Games are generally above market value. Employees are not always helpful or friendly, but I feel like that’s mostly due to either new hires (most of the new hires seem to be gone already. No surprise.) or tired OG employees. I love the selection this place has. Think Mom & Pop bookstore meets Barnes & Noble selection. Lots of interesting choices of books, comics, graphic novels, board games, video games, DVDs and BluRay. I really used to love going here, but since the pandemic started things dont seem quite the same.The biggest issue I have had was recently hunting down a particular book. HPB has it in stock but they are charging $20 for a $10 dollar book. I asked the cashier about the pricing, because I wanted to make sure it wasnt a special edition or something along those lines (which would make sense for the additional cost).They responded it is priced as marked, that was the price it was going for when it came in and we checked it against what it was selling for on ebay. We also dont update the pricing often.Now, Im not sure how accurate those statements are but they work there, not me. I ended up lucking out and found a brand new copy at target on sale for $6.The other frustrating thing is, if you order online you are charged shipping per item regardless of the items coming from the same facility. I definitely understand charging shipping, but if the used book sells for $5 and shipping is $4, and full retail is $10 for a brand new copy, I have no incentive to purchase from HPB.I just dont really understand their business strategy there. Apparently its banking on someone not being an informed shopper.

Such a wonderful variety of books, movies, games, and more! I started coming here because HPB generously donated boxes of books to my classroom, but now its my first stop whenever I go book shopping. They have a great selection, great prices, their books are great quality, and the employees are always super helpful when I cant find something. I love this place! I even bought a 1,000 piece puzzle of famous writers Im going to work on over the summer, frame, and hang in my classroom next year!

I originally went to sell some books I no longer needed. While they went through the boxes of books, I perused the store. They had an incredible amount of books and games, all in good condition, and priced to fit nearly anyones budget.I only had to wait a little under 30 minutes for the 10 boxes of books to be sorted and a fair price to be given. All the employees I was in contact with were helpful and courteous.I highly recommend this store as a first-stop bookstore!

I found it hard to leave, books at half the cost on the cover, some looked unread. Got 7 books and had to leave because I was riding the bike and only had a backpack. Taking the car next time and spending a hundred dollars on $3-5 paperbacks. $9 or less for hardbacks. Worked as a librarians assistant before and the place was as well organized as any library I have worked at. The staff are really helpful and friendly. This is a place where I would work for minimum wage, and would spend it on the books there!!!😀

Store just opened in June of this year. The selection is HUGE; we spent an hour there and will need to return to see the other half of the store. They have new and used for all ages and are a great place for Christmas shopping. I got a Star Wars paper model with lights and sound for $12.50 and an origami set for $7. So you can see they stock more than books, and all at great prices. Store is incredibly well organized, even in childrens books that are sorted by age, genre, series and author. Staff is friendly and helpful.

Theyre absolutely wonderful for finding books for cheap. My husband and I almost always find some sort of gem whenever we go -- which is often. Weve managed to complete whole comic collections and even found a few D&D 5e manuals.Theyre not as good on the electronics and used game end, however. I dont believe they test the used game consoles for sale (fair game is not far away and they sell used consoles with more confidence) but it can be worth it on 40% off sales. Their used game selection is also small and often overpriced.Nevertheless, its one of my favorite places to go.

This has been my new favorite place since I moved to the area! I bought my copy of Fire and Blood here, which was just over 30$ and they gave me a free calendar with a coupon that brought the price below 30$ for a new, not used hardback cover of the newest Game of Thrones book (prequel.) Despite not having the books I need the store is in a nice location and organized. The staff was extremely helpful and patient while working with me and the cashier was very friendly and nice. Though I had a long list of books and they happend to have none of them she was cheerful and remained attentive throughout the interaction.

I usually like visiting this store. Lately theyve had more on tarot and related topics which I appreciate. However, as a tarot reader searching for new/used cards, its kind of difficult to chill and feel out the decks while your employee hovers 4 ft away not doing anything of substance except treating me as if Ill rip off your product. This is my go-to place for gift books for my family. There is a lot of inventory to select from that is new or used. I would give five stars except that some of their inventory prices are poorly researched. I bought Chrono Trigger Super Nintendo game for $20 elsewhere and they are selling it for over a hundred. Another great bookstore! I cant believe there are 3 bookstores in our area: 2 in Citrus Heights and 1 in Fair Oaks! There may be more. This shop offers a fabulous, well organized selection of new and used books. I attended their tent sale last weekend, it didnt look like much, however I managed to fill the bag and could barely carry it the car! I Mainly go here to look for video games since I am a collector. A while back you used to be able to find some good deals though nowadays it’s not the same. You can still find stuff, especially if you are just starting out collecting, but they do sometimes overprice things by a large margin. So for this reason I don’t see myself coming here often.Don’t have much to say on the books but they sure do have a lot in many different genres. They also sell vinyl and other music mediums, but haven’t really went through their selection.

Its a book store. Not too bad of prices for the used books I grabbed (about a dollar or two cheaper than new for books 20+ years old), but the trade in is abysmal. Selection wasnt as diverse as I wouldve liked. Philosophy? 20 copies of Platos Republic. Psychology? Freud, self help, and very little else. Except some psychology was (thankfully) in the general science section, so that helped. I prefer smaller used book stores, just havent found one in the area yet.

Bad experience with selling books there! The cashier took my books, asked for my ID, then she handed me my ID back. Then she asked me for my first and last name... I had to spell it out for her. She asked for my phone number. Then she said, “okay we’ll call you when it’s ready”. I left the store waiting for the call. Several hours later I called to see if my books were ready and a man answered. He told me I wasn’t supposed to leave the store and they tried calling me, but the phone number was wrong. I told him I was never told to stay in the store and I had been waiting for them to call me! I quickly got in my car and went to the store to pick up my bag and get the few bucks and the cashier lady saw me and said, “your books were ready in 5 minutes”. I went there to sell books and COMIC books. I left there with everything I brought there. They are rip offs. I had 218 COMIC books from the 80s they offered me $7.00. I also brought over 100 book a wide variety and they were in excellent condition and was offered $9.00 for all. That place is a major rip off I will never step foot in that store again. This place is a treasure trove containing from leather bound 1st editions to rare books to modern new and used books. This place has all the subjects covered including an assortment of relevant textbooks in every academic subject (for those who might like to read textbooks for fun or for the student who doesnt want to pay $150 for a revised version). It even has games: board games to video games. Most of the video games pertain to newer consoles... but I found a treasure of NES games for me! Highly recommend Half Price Books. If youve never been in one the premise is simple.... all used books are half the price of the original cost unless marked differently.The have a good mix of books here, the selection is one of the better Ive seen in a used bookstore. This is a great place to look for college textbooks although not all of them can be found here. This store saved me a few hundred dollars on textbooks purchases. They also accept some books and can buy them off you, but my experience with that wasnt as great because I brought up to $70 worth of books and only received $10 for it all. I wish I could undo that moment but its okay- just know what your books are worth and maybe sell them some other way if you need to.
