Just had an awesome experience buying my first electric guitar. I was helped by Trey. He was extremely friendly and knowledgeable, and he struck that perfect balance of informing me of all my options based on what I was looking for without forcing anything on me. I really wish that everyone could have someone like him to help on their journey to purchasing a new instrument.

It was fantastic. I mean literally hundreds of guitars. But i learned somerhing new today. Like most companies that have an online catalog, the inventory on hand can greatly differ than the stock on hand at the store. My boy saw a 12 string guitar he really like but it through catalog only and it had a 3 month delay, which as customer you cant see. But the manager took his time in showing me what the process is and how i can better use and what to expect out of the search enging. He also gave some particular insight on the specific guitar my son wanted. I shared the info with him, he is now searching for a different guitar.

Elected to pickup an online order here and it took over 10 minutes of waiting to get my order. Not horrible, since my son could walk around a play around on the keyboards, but it just felt overly long considering there were barely any customers around and it was getting close to closing. Ill just get my orders delivered in the future and skip going here.

My students and I took a bass drum pedal in to see The Drum Guy. He was very kind, and made sure our pedal worked properly. The pedal actually belongs to the school where I teach. It definitely helped the performance for their promotion program (6th Grade). Thank you, Drum Guy!

In my experience, this location has some of the best guitar techs in Southern California. Matt and Paul are both awesome and Ive taken several guitars to them for service, ranging from mid level to custom shop instruments, and they have been fantastic. Forget any misconceptions you might have about taking an instrument to Guitar Center for service. For reference, I also took a guitar to another repair shop in the San Diego area. They were far more expensive, charged me extra for rush service that still took longer than Guitar Center has, and the quality of work was not impressive especially considering their rates.

I’ve been to the La Mesa location twice in the last few months and the staff has been very helpful. I also recently returned a record player and they took it back and issued a full refund without any issues. As a side note, they have an extensive collection of new and used keyboard pianos for decent prices.

First time walking in, I greeted a group of workers there -they all just looked at me and did not reply back. I bought a couple of items and this worker with a beard, glasses, and pony tail was on the register, he did not tell me the total of my change - he only gave me the money . he just he just pointed at the register pole monitor and said, ”count it and tell me if that’s the exact amount that I gave you”. After I counted it I was missing a couple of bucks.I’m not coming back to this place it’s very unwelcoming and bad customer service

Just go to a local shop they will be way more helpful. Tried to trade in guitars and instead of saying they don’t want them they proceeded to stand in the back of the store and talk bad about the guitars because of stickers! Whenever I go in it seems that I’m a burden and they just want me to leave. If your just getting into guitars go anywhere else they will actually help you instead of giving you dirty looks when you stand at the counter.

The staff appears knowledgeable. I usually walk in and am not readily approached by staff which allows me to browse as I wish. The learning staff is friendly and very knowledgeable. I recommend Mike and Kenzie especially for younger kids

I would have gave less stars except the guy, did, in the end refer me to another store. Ive probably been here like 5 times to sell instruments I have aquired when purchasing storage units. They havent purchased even one item. Before I could even set the guitar case down, the first thing out of the dudes mouth was, we arent buying much at the moment. Thats because the case I had was beat up. Thats before he even knew what I had. I brought in a 1960s guitar that was in decent shape for the year. Not perfect but pretty darn good. He knew zero about it. Said it was a knock off (not exactly) of better brands because he had no idea who the brand even was. If you guys are gonna say youre not buying that much, maybe you should close the buying section down and not had a 5+ person line of people selling to you.Management- maybe train your employees not to profile customers. Its wrong, its rude and it makes your store very unappealing to people who are trying to utilize your services.Check out SOCAP INTERNATIONAL and see if you can get some better customer service training assistance. You would probably not only increase your revenue but also increase your reoccurring customer base. Im sure your quarterly profits are not so amazing that you can afford to turn away new business because your employees are unprofessional. If you are so abundantly profitable that you dont need my products or my money, then keep doing what youre doing.

Donkey Balls.Tips on how to shop for a higher end guitar or bass guitar if you are shy or intimidated by seasoned musicians:Try not to shop at guitar center and check out the smaller local guitar shops. But if you have to for various reasons then here are some tips:1. Go with a friend who will help advocate what is that you want and that you can jam with who will help run through songs so that you can actually play along with and truly get a feel for the sound and the ergonomics of the instrument.2. Ask for on a private lesson room to try out several instruments. There’s a ton of people plugged in doing their thing but you can’t really focus on you and the instrument out in the chaotic retail space. You are about to drop a few bucks… you should definitely feel good and certain about what you are buying.3. Try to Find a nice patient sales person. They get commission. We would have preferred a woman. If you do get stuck with an impatient, rude, male chauvinist who rolls his eyes, gives faces, and treats you like you don’t know what tuners are on a guitar head are…. don’t get insulted, he’s the idiot, … don’t give up.3. They will not ask you why you are shopping for a new instrument because they have zero proper training. So, take a deep breath and keep your phone on you so that you can Google search all the answers to product specifications. For example the weight of the instrument is very important. I don’t know about for men, but for ladies it matters. If you have back problems then standing and holding a heavy instrument will cause more back pain. We were looking to shave a few pounds off what she already had. The salesman would NOT look up weight of the instruments to help her, even after several mentions of this. It was like… “sorry” we don’t have that info and won’t look it up.They do NOT prioritize the customer experience. The only value is the immediate access to a wide on-site inventory, you can try the instruments there and purchase on the spot.4. You’ve been there for a couple of hours. You found the right model, it sounds good, it feels good, but you want it in a different color. Your sales guy is busy and missing. There is no organization with their instruments on the retail floor. Go walk the floor and triple check with your own eyes. Check their local website inventory. We were looking for a different style bass and they said they didn’t have it. I walked into the premium guitar room and found it up high on display on the wall. Told the large rude sales guy that I found it. He looked at me like I was stupid again. Without even going to check it out he said there are only guitars in that room and continued to look at the screen.Nope, I’m pretty sure I know what a bass guitar looks like. But I guess there’s a possibility that I’m the idiot.He was walking looking for the bass that she needed. I politely pointed to the bass up on the wall on display that I already told him about. He acknowledged it was a bass and remarked… how and why was that in there?? Good lord…. This person continues to make himself look like donkeyMy friend did try it out back in the private lesson room. Confirmed that she loved it. This demo bass had a bent damaged knob… so she ordered a new one from their inventory and had it shipped to her in 3 to 5 days.That was a long and slightly painful buying experience but I’m happy for my friend because she has something she really likes.I really enjoyed comparing the expensive and the mid range to really get a feel for the difference in quality. You can’t do that online.And now at our weekly jam sessions… I get to look at a very pretty bass and know that she’s happier because she’s playing music on a beautiful bass and her back isn’t hurting.You deserve to have the best instrument for you.Hope this helps you out when shopping at guitar center or anywhere for a new instrument.

I am writing this review as I wait for someone to help me, I have been standing here waiting for the better part of 30minutes waiting to simply check out and go. I typically don’t write reviews but nobody has said a word to me and their phone rings and rings and rings with no answer it’s brutal customer service. Buy from Sweetwater online doesn’t take 30mins to checkout there and they have live agents that actually help you and don’t leave you high and dry like these people.

GC La Mesa/San Diego rebounded greatly from their bankruptcy issues. This store has flooded with all types of tour-worthy boutique gear, quality choices for noobs—and all the noise in between. Sweet, sweet noise. You’ll be here a while, make sure your friends are prepared to hang out. Staff are cool, but there’s always a wait to check out or to get help. They seem to have doubled down on their lessons and will let you play whatever you like. However they still don’t stock my favorite picks.

I quite surprised with the level of disrespect I was just shown this evening 2/25/2024. I walked in to the store with the intent to purchase the Martin IZ Ukulele. A $2000 ukulele. When I asked if I could get some help with locked items, the Employee working the guitars looked me up and down, scowled and then said in a rather aggressive tone said what are you wanting to look at? A little surprised by the aggression I just said Id like to look at an Ukulele. He rolled his eyes and asked which one. I said the Martin IZ ukulele. Then he said are you buying it right now? I said, If I like it ill but it. then he scoffed and said wait, I have 4 other people im dealing with.At this point I said Okay and walked out to my car. I wouldnt have minded waiting but the level of attitude and sheer annoyance from this employee was appalling. I suppose its a good thing because he likley saved me over two thousand dollars. I cut up my Guitar Center Gear card and will find other options to shop from.

I bought 2 dan electro batery operated amps, a guitar where the screws were never tightened, both of them are defective, i called them it took over 10 minutes to answer the phone, i told them about the defective guitar and amps, they said even though you bought a 2 year extended guarantee for the new products you bought, we will not do anything, we will give you a number to call a $cam in$ure an$e company, so i call them they said they didnt see any proof so they gave me another number to call which i called and i guess they contacted guitar center and got my recipts, now when i paid for the new items they did not tel me who the company was, that i asumed i was insuring every thing i bought, for some crazy reason they did not include the 2 dan electro amps, and on their web site their were other complaints on the amps where the light comes on but no sound, so what is their excause in seling defective products i will be ading numbers, and more to the story, right now i am not a very happy camper,..latest update i did not know guitar center monoered the post put here, and how they proved they realy cared, not just a tired worn out slogan, like i experienced with the imperial ave sandiego autozone where i have yet to get replaced duralast brand vice grips with defective jaw cutters that dont meet, are crooked, imposible to cut fine guitar wire, even after a year going back 3 times, so i was expecting guitar center to also give me another run around blame me game, well i was pleasently suprised..i was severly consumer shocked( 1 the 2 dan electro amps i bought in nashville tenese did not come with the boxes the instructions, and a way heavy duty protective plastic protection case, that should have set off bells of alarm that the 2 dan electro amps had probably ben dropped a milion times, had ben in the store for years, turned on and off a milion times, i did not know how many years they were at the store, lets be fair they probably have over 10,000 + products and a $23 dolar product would not be a high priority, and i want to thank them for carying a inexpensive amp, as the next 1 was $60, so i figured i would buy 2, with a 2 year extended waranity, sure glad i did, so i called guitar center consumer customer service number, because the store demos, died in no time, and i was again severly consumer shocked by the most careing customer care represenitives 1 a fantastic person from india her name was surender, and i believe the other was caldin, in indiana, i could not believe how arening they were, and i could not believe how careing assurian insurance company who i bought the 2 year extended waranity was, i did not get 1 run around, expertly devized excause, when i took pictures of the defective amps and emailed my proof i paid for them, well i was so pleasently shocked, i chose to on the 2 new danelectro amps to get a 3 year extended waranity, knowing i finaly got brand new amps, and oh yeah these came with a 1 year waranity i did not know with the amps i bought in nashville, and the instructions to adjust the amp, hell i was dizzy with all the setings, so i decided to not use overdrive, keep tone on trebile, not base, and i noticed the batery lasted longer, well i created a 9 volt d size batery adapter box, i figure it should last probably over a year, and again i want to thank guitar center, and assurian insurance for realy careing, and wish autozone would replace my defective vice grips, oh yeah i absoutely refuse to use any special effects, cause i wonder are the electronice playing the musician,and still to this day cant figure out what they mean about tone, hell i only use what comes on the amp

The store is fun and in pristine condition but the staff just doesn’t want to help you at all, It’s almost as if you are bothering them, I was standing at the pedal section to get help but there was no one around, once I made eye contact they quickly turn around and start doing something else, I eventually asked someone and their reply was only “thats no my department” okay then who’s is? Really poor experience, try local audio shops they have the attention to detail nailed down, the only positive thing is that they have an amazing stock but next time Im just ordering online

My son and I had a wonderful experience at the Guitar Center in La Mesa. The first gentleman that helped us was very patient and informative. He got called away and this very sweet person, Mishka, came to help us. She showed us even more about the different types of acoustic guitars and the types of strings, and even showed my son how to play some chords. She made our day! You used to be able to try out any of the acoustic guitars and now they are all locked. You can not try out guitars without a sales person standing around and thats not really the guitar experience I want to have when Im trying out instruments.Edit: while guitars are still locked, staff is super attentive, helpful and friendly. Dan lined up the guitars I wanted to try and gave me time and freedom to strum away. Definitely a good experience at this GC.

Don’t take your guitar here for a set-up, tune up! these guys are so incompetent. I brought my guitar here for a set up and not only did they not clean it, they made it unplayable and left so many buzz frets. it was so stupid.the worst part was that they made me pay for another set up to fix it. don’t come here with these idiots. local shops are much more knowledgeable and delicate with your guitar. i only have one guitar, so i am completely upset that this is now unplayable.

Drove 40 minutes to buy a pioneer mixer. Called ahead, they say they have one. I get in, turns out they didn’t check and it wasn’t new. Worse, the manager biddie(y?) then tries to tell me it was a demo (while the original employee tried to insist twice that it was not) and that this ‘demo’ had only been sitting there for a month (who leaves a demo out for only two weeks?).They also told me that I could get a rekordbox license through the repurchase program, but when I’d checked online said program forces you to buy a new one. They’d never actually done it and thus didn’t really know.This was supposed to be my 30th birthday present to myself and my first guitar center purchase. After these two guys ‘it sounds like you should probably buy new’ (because they had no way to prove what they were saying, there wasn’t even a printed tag for the mixer that showed the date it got in), I said ‘I’m just disappointed’ and the manager went ‘Yeah man, I’m disappointed like eight times every day.’Shoutout to the guy at the guitar center in Vista who explained it was probably a return that didn’t get properly tagged, I’ll settle for closure. Pick a different store.

In regards to the only negative comment I’ll give here, I can only speak for the piano side of it. Many of the keyboards are overpriced. Some are good, but many of the keyboards aren’t very enjoyable to use. However I think it’s great that anyone can walk in and play with practically any instrument on display, instead of having to purchase it outright and be disappointed later. They’ll usually let you play for as long as you’d like too, which is very encouraging to those that are just starting their musical journey and don’t want to invest too much into an instrument right away.

They carry what I want but there is one thing that always annoys me about Guitar Centers and it isnt just this location. I feel like it is difficult to find someone to help. All of the sales associates do not wear a consistent shirt or a lanyard or name tag so you cant even tell who half the people are who work there. I browsed for a while (~5 minutes) then wanted to try a keyboard that I could find on display. Then the hunt began. I finally had to go to the only register that had staff at it and did find someone to help me after waiting in line for a few minutes. Of course this wasnt the keyboard/piano sales register so he took me back to keyboards/pianos and that man had now returned to the registered. This man was very helpful (Ernie) and even hunted down something for me that showed as in stock but wasnt on display (found the last one hidden in a cabinet). After finding the right guy, I realized I had walked past 4 (yes FOUR) sales associates who were standing around either talking with each other or just hanging and not helping anyone (all wearing a different shirt, and only one of these was clearly marked with the words Guitar Center). If they couldnt tell from my body language that I needed help, they frankly need some training. Maybe Guitar Center doesnt really want business from people like me who are not cool, young rocker-looking dudes?.... But I did spend over $2500 which Im guessing not many of their cool young rocker-looking dude customers did yesterday. GC needs to work on this ongoing problem with making ALL shoppers feel welcomed.

I live in Texas and this store is in California. I cant walk in to try their gear.I called when they opened to ask about a used amp they had in their store. The store manager who opened on 8/21 told me they could not get anyone to help with questions because Sundays are their busy days and I had to call back later in the week on their slow days so they can tend to the in store customers.1) Why I am different than an in store customer? I recently decided to replace the strings on my acoustic guitar since they were in bad condition due to spending years in the back of my closet untouched. I picked this location since it has 4.3 stars on google maps. I went in and felt really overwhelmed and lost on where to go in the store. Fortunately, I found Steve and he helped me so much! He was very informative, helpful, and friendly. I felt very well taken care of and respected despite knowing next to nothing about my guitar. He even went out of his way to clean the fret board with lemon oil since I couldnt afford it along with everything else I was buying. I had a surprisingly poor experience at the La Mesa location on the 4th of July. I went in early specifically to check out the sale and order a guitar. When I entered, there were at least a dozen employees, none of whom I knew and approx the same number of customers. All the associates were either chatting or dusting off guitars. No one made eye contact with me, no one greeted me or asked if I needed help. After about 15 minutes of having employees just walk by me I left and took my money to Sam Ash. I always enjoy checking out the gear at Guitar Center. However this location seems to be going under. They had a lot of stuff out of stock and seemed to be understaffed. I had to wait 15 minutes or so before I could get a couple of questions answered. One item had a sign on it that was just placed on top of it carelessly. I inquired about it thinking it was a great buy only to find out that the item wasnt priced at all. I went to ask about another item but they were completely out of stock and couldnt provide detail as to when they could order it in. Was in the area for work, and had some free time so decided to stop in to compare a 60s vs 50s neck Les Paul as I wasnt sure which neck I preferred. Called ahead to make sure they were in stock. I was referred to Dan as the resident Les Paul guy. Walked in and Dan the Les Paul Man was super friendly. He set me up right away with a 60s Standard, 50s Standard, and Slash model Les Paul. He quickly recognized that I knew what my goal was coming in, and set me up at an amp similar to what I have, and then just kind of left me alone to try things out and compare/contrast. He checked in every now and then just to make sure my needs were met and I understood what the differences were in the models he gave me. I played for an hour or so, ultimately favoring the 50s neck. When I left, I just went to tell him thanks for helping me. He said no problem, and offered for me to come back in and try the same setup in one of the soundproof lesson rooms so I didnt have background noise and could really hear the difference in the 50s Standard vs Slash model and decide for myself if it was worth $500 more for hotter pickups in the Slash model. Of course, I took him up on that offer and came back a couple days later. True to his word, he set me up in a lesson room and just let me jam. He checked in every now and then, made sure I didnt want to try out any other models, amps, etc. Throughout the process he was not pushy at all, didnt try to upsell, didnt try to convince me to try something I didnt want, and just checked in from time to time. To me, this is perfect customer service - recognize when someone knows what theyre looking for, and let them try it out.To Dan - THANK YOU. You set the standard for customer service from my perspective. Laid back, non-intrusive, and friendly without being fake. I appreciate your time and accommodation very much.

Unfortunately the same cant be said at GC, especially this location. I have been a customer for many years, and whenever I do need to purchase something that only GC has, I only do it online, as making the drive to this location might change your mind about wanting to purchase anything in the first place. If you really need to go to a guitar store to try different guitars, Id recommend Marks Guitar Shop or Imperial Guitars, here in San Diego. If you are coming here dont expect anyone to wait on you, but when someone did finally ask us if we needed help, they did not have a bad attitude, and they were very helpful. I came from about 2 hours away just for them not to have the mic I wanted in stock. The first salesman just brushed me off so I looked for another one and got lucky to find someone that actually cared and showed me around to several options and helped me pick out everything I needed. I stopped by the guitar dept. at the La Mesa Guitar Center to get some hands-on shopping time to find a new bass. With the help of Dans vast knowledge and experience, he really helped me to sort through all the options and pros/cons of each bass. They have drum sets and electronic drum sets you can try out and play. The online customer support I called was unhelpful. They basically told me tough luck. Miska made the return and exchange process smooth, and even called an off duty coworker to make sure I got my return that day. We were not even in the room for two minutes trying out one he liked when a rude employee walked in with another customer and asked us if we mind, that he wanted to show his “friend” some guitars. I went to guitar center yesterday to just check out some guitars & feel out what was a good fit for me. The sales process with Ian was the most pleasant. Extremely helpful. He offered many insights on different aspects of guitars; anything from body sizes to what differentiates a 4000$ guitar from a 2000$ guitar. He also listened to my music and gave input on what would be a good fit for what I do. I never felt pressure to buy and if anything he was only interested in helping me get what was best for me. Worst rental experience I’ve ever had.Mike, the guy who runs the rental area had no sense of customer service or work ethic. Forgot all the cables, had to drive an hour to pick them up next day, equipment was half broken and glitching, spent a total of 4 hrs in the store waiting for help.Unbelievable this store is open.

They were awesome! They asked us if we needed help right when we walked through. Paul came and greeted us and helped our son find an amp. Apparently he didn’t think his was load enough. Paul showed our 12 year old how to play a couple easy starting notes (if that’s what they’re called), hold the guitar and told him what he should practice. Feels like the staff is just watching your every move as if youre going there to steal. Then I was waiting to pay for 7 items but they dont mind if theres a long line, they will take their sweet time. You have to say something to get their attention when youre next in line. They refuse to pick up their phones and have very little to no care for any customers. I visited to pick up a curbside order that had been ready in the store for almost a full day. When I went to pick up my order i sat at the curbside for around 30 minutes until the worker walked out made eye contact with me grabbed the “curbside pickup” sign and brought it inside and locked up the store. I even attempted to get his attention just to ask a simple question yet he completely ignored me and walked right back inside. I have had great luck with gutair center in the past but this last time the service was horrible.. I went in to buy a pedal for my cajon being unfamiliar with how they worked I pulled down the one on display to look at it. The salesman than told me that one was broken. He said he had new ones in the box but he wouldnt take the time to take it out and let me look at it. He said dont worry it will work fine. I reluctantly bought the pedal sight unseen took it home to see it wasnt a quality product and was missing a piece. So I returned it for a refund. The point is with a little bit of customer service all of this could have been avoided. Why would you have a broken pedal on display in the first place? The complete disregard for my request to see a working model was amazing. Maybe my $220.00 sale was not enough money to make him care.

People at registers are sometimes real busy and not very talkative, but to get help just go to the sales floor or find someone in the guitar or drum room and they are always GREAT help!!!! Buy most of my gear here and its hard not to come in and stay/play for hours. Its a friggin musicians candy store. Ive been very fortunate that whatever Ive been interested in playing, theres been someone who can answer my questions very knowledgeably........and Im all over the place. I bought a used Fender bass head online from this location, it was listed as being in good condition. When it arrived and I plugged it in it wouldn’t turn on, I checked the line and speaker fuses and they were both blown and looked like they had been for a long time.. I went to an auto parts store and bought new 2A and 4A fuses, installed them and it fired right up... how do you not check the equipment you sell to see if it’s working before you sell it? It worked out for me because I have electronics experience and I knew how to diagnose it.. c’mon guys, you have to check stuff.

Just walked in to the la Mesa guitar center to buy myself a $500 amplifier. Five or six people at the front counter, no one greeted me. As I was I was walking through the store I asked an individual where the amplifiers were. He pointed me in the direction and then walked away. I went up to a counter back by the amplifiers where there were two employees behind the counter. One employee was drinking a beverage and while I was standing there looking at him he glanced at me and then put his beverage down so he could answer the phone. Needless to say, I left the store and Im going to buy my amplifier online. There look to be more employees than customers in the store. But yet, I might as well have been a ghost!

I was helped by Dan in the acoustic section and this was by far the best possible costumer service imaginable, he was completely swamped with other customers and he handled it extremely well literally running to make sure everyone was helped and got what they needed. Plus you have to deal with the people who have no intent on buying anything but just want to hear themselves play. Got there and everyone had an attitude. Strange. Everytime I would come un everyone was nice, said hello. This manager guy who has a lumberjack beard who would always be friendly, finally had an attitude when I came in to pick up my items. I had in order I needed to pick up. Usually the tech goes and picks stuff for us....but I wanted to chill out and see whats in the store for once. Got mad when I kindly told him I didnt need warranty on the pedals since our tech repairs most of the gear when on tour. I noticed something wasnt right that day.. Ive come to this location before when in the area. But this was a first... artist or not. You were not greeted or treated with good customer service. This Albert guy was snapping at another customer and the guy at the entrance was on his phone looking exhausted. I didnt even feel like buying anything else...just left. Whos the man... Dan! As a reviewer I feel the need to give credit where credit is due. Dan is sincerely the man. As of Aug 2020 hes the only Dan that works there. Hes extremely knowledgeable, very fast, super low pressure (and lets you know it), he communicates at the highest levels of trust and he likes to give simple examples of situations that present lots of complexity. I honestly cant say enough. If you hear people laughing like crazy or having tons and tons of fun at the cash register, youll now know exactly whos responsible. Hes got a number of catch phrases that he clearly uses for every customer, but they keep the mood light and exciting because lets face it... Most people spend lots of money on music and between that and it being a moment filled with excitement and hope... Dans the man you want working with you. Dan honestly took my experience of this place from a 4 to a 5. I do not like giving 5s to places, especially places that arent restaurants, it often seems too subjective, but I cant imagine giving super stoked Dan a 4. Dont believe me? Seems too good to be true? Go in and ask for Dan, you wont be disappointed.As far as this Guitar Center location... It was very well done. Ive bought a few items from here before. Its well organized and seems very clean. Theyve always had a good selection, but due to the current times it seems lots of people are buying what they provide. Their stock is low in the more popular and less expensive items. If you want something, dont sleep on it too long. On that note, Dan had a great understanding of stock and literary went into the back 4 separate times to get us something different to try, and we didnt even ask. He was honestly so excited to help he just took initiative to help us in every aspect possible. We will be bringing the 2 young boys back here very soon for the start of their musical adventure.COVID-19: everything is up to standards and the whole place seems to be cleaned as often as possible. Lets face it. A good amount of people in the store requires a little bit of patience on everybodys part. I bring my own hand sanitizer and sanitize my hands before and after picking up a guitar. Mainly because I know others dont. Was helped without having to ask, and it was pretty busy. I had looked at website wrong and thought they had a guitar in stock that was only online but ended up being a blessing in disguise because I ended up with a beautiful fender that I couldn’t be happier with. When to La Mesa store to buy headphones because store in Escondido did not have Pioneer Headphones in stock. I ask if I could open the box to see if they were better made since the price went up $50. And model number has change and all that what on display was old models. Sale guys said no that I couldn’t break the red sticker seal that they put on and have tons of. What a joke . Why would I pay $50. More if I could last years model at Sam Ash store for $79. Instead of $129. For basically the same thing without Physically seen them first. So I was leaving the store to go to Sam Ash when I remembered I could buy them and open them and just return them right back if I don’t think they were better made than last year model. We operate Nightwalker Caverns and went to this store to purchase low lying fog for one of the escape rooms. Weve been ordering the fog by the gallon online and paying shipping as we didnt know of any place local place that stocked it year round. We were really surprised when we walked in. Unfortunately my brother didnt catch the extremely rude employees name but he was asked to stop playing the drums if he wasnt going to buy them. Dan greeted us, explained all the new normal rules of dealing with COVID and let us know we were valued all within the first 30 seconds of us entering the building. They were EXTREMELY busy but Dan took the time to make us feel welcomed. After I selected the guitar I wanted (Yamaha TransAcoustic) Dan got it all cleaned up, put it into a case and was ready to go. Unfortunately our transaction ran into a few speed bumps trying to take advantage of the special financing. None of this was Dans fault. I just didnt know how to read the promotion. It required a few phone calls to get everything cleared up and even though Dan was being pulled in all directions he kept his cool and didnt make us feel like we were a burden ..even though at this point I know we were HAHA. If I ever come back to this location (Im from a different state) Ill only work with Dan. Even though he might not want to work with me ;-) just kidding!

A fun place to test out instruments. I like that theres many floor models available to test out and the employees encourage it. Yet, they dont hound you like at some other stores. The acoustic guitars section is an impressive. Despite being guitar center, there are also pianos, keyboards, music books, amps, and other music equipment you may need.

Went to the store in La Mesa to check out the new Fender Acoustasonics. Walked around for a while looking for them. No one offered to help. Finally found the four they had on display but they were hanging so high up that youd need a ladder to reach them. Stood around for a while hoping someone would ask me if I needed help. I didnt want to have to find someone to get one of the guitars for me and then have them stand there and watch me while I tried it, so I left. No one in the store said a word to me the whole time I was there, even though they werent busy. Obviously Guitar Center doesnt want customers trying out expensive guitars without supervision, but the Acoustasonics cost less than $2K, so I think thats being a little too cautious. No one should spend 15 minutes in the store, as I did when they werent busy, and not be asked by someone if they need some help.
