After many hours of searching for a executive coach or a leadership mentor. I found Steve and Growth Source Coaching. I interviewed Steve at an off site location to see how he could help our not so unique situation. I say not so unique because Steve not only articulated our exact issue but also gave me real world scenarios that related to our scenario. Steve provided in depth coaching and advice that was immediately applied and saw immediate results. We had 5 C-level executives go through Steves recommended coaching and each of us took away valuable information to help each of us grow in our own way. This was possible because each session is catered to the individuals needs. In addition to being a great personal coach who really makes his clients realize their potential and face obstacles, Steve is a great speaker. He recently spoke for my Provisors group about taking yourself out of your comfort zone to the next level and he is engaging and personal when he speaks. I would recommend him as both a coach and speaker. In addition, I had the pleasure of watching him interview college students and provide interview advice and he has supported Irvine Rotary and donated time for the last 2 years. I really learned alot from Steve, my coach. His experience and the way he delivers advise was fantastic, through his coaching I was able to work on my leadership and communication skills. What I liked most about Steve was his ability to listen and ensure that he was coaching me through my toughest obstacles. I met Steve Smith at Growth Source Coaching through the Lake Forest Chamber of Commerce, and in our brief interactions at chamber functions and listening to his talks at chamber events, I came to realize that he could likely help me with my two fledgling barbershops (franchises.) I engaged Steve for 6 months of weekly coaching sessions at which he was able to give me advice and ideas about marketing (guerilla, social media, and traditional), pricing, customer experience, hiring, personnel issues, and other random topics that came up in the normal course of running a small business. He was also available outside of our sessions if I ran into anything that was more urgent, and that availability was greatly appreciated. One thing I really appreciated was that Steve was able to help me clarify where the issue really was (e.g. on the surface it may have seemed to be a client issue, but with some good questions from him it became more clear that the issue was more of a staff issue instead.) He helped guide me on a number of topics so I was able to focus on more specific solutions and that probing let me not spin my wheels looking for solutions. We started our sessions right before COVID-19 hit, so it was new territory for everyone, but I think that by having him available as a touchstone I have been able to navigate circumstances more effectively, and I am hopeful that my shops will emerge stronger than they would have otherwise when we are on the other side of this crisis. Steves ability to help really clarify any issues Ive faced has likely saved me a lot of headache, and no doubt $ as well. I highly recommend his service.
