We were looking for a good coffee shop while in the Newport area. Well we found an amazing coffee shop when we found Grounded Coffee. The Bakery items (at least the cookies) are made in-house. The coffee was amazing and we even picked up some beans. It was the only coffee spot we went to all week (had to go back each day),

We met the cafe owner at a specialty coffee conference and had to stop by the shop while we were in town. We were greeted by friendly staff who helped us select cookies (which they bake in house), as well as some coffee to take for the road. Love their custom merchandise and prime location in Costa Del Mar.

Best cappuccino Ive had since leaving the PNW! Service was great and would be a great little place to come get some work done. Also had a delicious almond croissant. Will for sure be back before we head home. Parking in the back was also really nice so you dont have to find a spot on the road during busy days.

As a coffee shop owner myself, I know how difficult it is to to run a small business so when I say these guys are doing it right, I mean it! Grounded is among the best cafes Ive been to - clean facility, comfortable lounge or work space, consistently friendly staff who always ask about my day, and a very good selection of coffee and pastries. Highly recommend stopping by Grounded if youre in the area!

4.5 stars. Cool lil spot in cdm. Had some time to kill before a rehearsal at 5 crowns. I got the house coffee and blueberry muffin. Both were excellent and employees were top notch. Friendly and knowledgeable. Would def come back again. They have a restroom behind the building. Great vibe. Thx Grounded. Y’all rock!!

Stopped by Grounded Coffee for a mid-trip delight; pictured is an iced Mocha latte that’s light on the flavoring, intentionally, and a confection ofCookies! My wife got the no-sugar Paleo along with two normal OG chocolate chips!I went for the peppermint hot cocoa cookie to compliment my beverage and they paired well together. The staff here are super friendly and made the experience well worth it; easily earned a return visit for that alone!

Such a darling little place. I had the best latte. The coffee was for my husband and he says it’s just perfect. The barista was very awesome to speak with.and she even drew a beautiful design from the foamed milk.

I dont exactly remember what flavor iced coffee my girlfriend ordered but i do know it was one of the winter seasonal flavors and it was pretty good. we had wanted to get one of their pastries because we had just come from eating lunch but opted for one of their iced coffees as the sun was still shining when we were walking around. the staff was kind and quick when it came to serving the drinks people ordered. i will note that we initially got our drink and it was much too sweet so we had gone back to the counter and they were happy to fix our drink to our liking.

Came here on a weekend morning and ordered a latte, the breakfast burrito, and some cinnamon roll pastry. Everything was pretty disappointing.Latte was incredibly mediocre. Burrito was honestly pretty bad and definitely not freshly made (over-baked tortilla, filled with primarily tater tots and one overcooked egg; also it was super small). The pastry (which the cashier recommended) was whatever.At least the service was friendly and the outdoor seating is nice, but the stuff is way too expensive here to not taste better.

Excellent coffee house!We discovered this place spontaneously when the family was returning from a trip to Laguna Beach and I needed to re-fuel on the way back. If you are on the PCH, circa Newport or Laguna Beach and are in search for an excellent cup of coffee and a tasty cookie, then you have to stop by here.There arent many coffee types offered here BUT the brew was excellent. I am usually not a medium roast person (I prefer dark roast coffee) but they had just poured the last bit out because we arrived circa 5. This medium roast brew had a depth of flavor (which I find lacking in many others) which I appreciated.We also had the OG cookie and it was delicious. Just sweet enough and the walnuts added a nice crunch and balance. On a personal note I would prefer dark chocolate - but thats neither here nor there. We live a bit far but would return to try other cookies, the espresso, and the dark roast.The service was wonderful - one of the best cafe experiences I have had and I love trying new places. I also really liked the modern-yet-not-clinical atmosphere in the shop. Keep up the good work and keep the good brews coming, yall!

This place is super chill and relaxing! People working here were quick to acknowledge their customers!! Very quick service. Hence, it is an amazing place to study. Although the store doesn’t have any WiFi, I wouldn’t be one to remove any stars. Bring your hot spot or portable WiFi, and you’ll get work done. If you give this place any less than 5 stars then you’re a Karen.

Im glad I found a local, delectable shop. I thoroughly enjoyed my oat milk latte with an extra shot the last couple days. The espresso has such a crisp, bold and potent flavor and the creamy Oatly oat milk pairs so well with it. Normally I have to add 2 shots to my latte to get the flavor I want, but here only 1 is needed. Im excited I found an awesome coffee place next to my new job that isnt Starbucks, as I worked there 9 years and Im trying to move on. Thanks for making it too easy! Love the decor and adorable seating as well. The leather sofa is bomb. Looking forward to coming in all, if not most of my workweek. The name is really dope too.😊

I stopped by Grounded Coffee House on the way to the beach. I was happy to see they had plenty of parking outback; a great coup in this area. The service was fine if a bit inattentive and the large latte was a decent value but not very tasty. The inside was pleasant and I wouldn’t mind spending time there.

Really nice staff, but unfortunately, the coffee I got wasn’t good. The “latte” I got tasted extremely burnt and overextracted, and it was 25% foam (which meant it was basically a cappuccino, not the latte I ordered). It also came out way too hot, which is always a bad sign for a latte (a properly made latte shouldn’t be scalding hot at any point in the process of making it and should be cool enough to drink by the time it’s ready). With how many top-notch coffeeshops there are in the area, I was sadly very disappointed with their coffee. At least the cookies are good here though!

I had a fantastic experience at Grounded last week! I work in the area and wandered in to find a barista named Catherine welcoming me with a smile. She provided excellent service and helped me enjoy my iced oat milk mocha even more. The coffee is roasted very well, and I can tell the community provides a lot of love to this establishment! Love this place!!! I came in last week for the first time and was helped by Cat, who was so kind and friendly. I wasn’t exactly sure what I wanted and she was patient with me in helping me find something I’d really like. The service is very good and the flavored lattes are delicious. I’ve been to Grounded Coffee twice. Great vibe and location. Near the end of CDM on E coast blvd, so parking is easy. Lauren served us both times and remembered my order. So welcoming and my latte was perfect (Starbucks always taste watered down, but not at Grounded). Will come back soon!

Beautiful cafe with a friendly staff! Very fun atmosphere, and the skilled baristas prepare some very nice milk drinks - my daughter loved her vanilla latte, and I thought my (unflavored) latte was great as well.I will say that my tastes tend to skew more toward third-wave style coffee, and I found both the filter coffee and espresso here to both be more toward the traditional end. That is ultimately why I rated Grounded as a 4 instead of a 5 -- they do what they do very well, its just not 100% aligned with my personal preferences. I think if you like a more traditional/roastier coffee flavor, then you will probably love Grounded!

The raspberry black iced tea is seriously SO GOOD. Of course the cookies are my favorite as well. My favorite cookie right now is funfetti, and my boyfriend favorite is the peanut butter cookie. I love the new ownership and love the diversity of pastries available. It’s really feels like the best go to local coffee shop that you can imagine. Five stars every day!!!

Everyone here is super sweet. This place could be sooo good but the coffee was awful, the coffee was bitter and over roasted and they need to steam the milk properly. I recently decided to try Grounded. This is not my typical coffee style, as I usually stick with my Starbucks where I get my typical triple shot of espresso with a pump of vanilla and white mocha over ice in a venti cup. I know the baristas there, I know what Im getting, and Im a guy of routine. But recently I was traveling in the direction opposite of my starbucks, so I looked up coffee shops on the way to where I was going and Grounded came up. Independent coffee shops arent my thing, but I decided to go in and try. I went in and I quickly spoke to the barista, whose name I later learned was Catherine, and asked them what I should get, considering I felt like such a foreigner at the establishment. She said what do I usually go for, to which I laughed and listed my whole typical starbucks order. She suggested I go for something a little more simple, just getting a vanilla latte. Ive obviously had one of these before, so I decided to go for something safe, and she also convinced me to get a chocolate chip cookie. Let me say, this coffee was some of the best Ive ever had. I almost wanted to go up and just try a simple shot of espresso (I decided against it) just to taste the flavor on its own without the syrup and milk. I cant believe I havent been here yet! The cookie was delicious too, albeit a little pricy for just a simple cookie, but thats not something to deter you from taking a trip on down to the coffee house. And if you go, see if the Barista is Catherine, shes lovely to speak with!

The espresso was extremely bitter and acrid, and I was unable to drink my latte. You can see a film of oil on the beans they have on display - this only happens when theyre burnt. When I asked the batista if they had any other beans, they apologized that it was too strong for me, and suggested next time I get more milk in the latte, but didnt offer to remake my drink (I never ask for remakes/refunds but the gesture wouldve been nice). The croissant and muffin that my wife and I had were quite good, though. None of the employees, including those handling the food/drink, were wearing masks.
