Another wonderful nursery in Carmel Valley. Quite a nice selection including a variety of succulents, shrubs and trees. Griggs offers fountains and pots and really everything one needs to create a beautiful garden space. We purchased a few plants we didnt already have including some succulents and cacti, Safari Sunset, and a few other small shrubs. Highly recommended. We could spend all day at Griggs!

We are here just about every warm weekend getting everything we need for our yard, and fruit & veggie garden. The plants are top notch and everyone who works here is super helpful! *Photos of the fruits of our labor*

A wonderful plant nursery with a wide variety of different plants and fauna. beautifully set up with extremely kind workers willing to answer questions and show you around. reasonably priced plants that are well taken care of and flourish once in your home. highly recommend a visit, even if it’s just a leisurely stroll

Griggs is still the greatest nursery around. During COVID-19 Ive had the hardest time finding basic supplies at my local hardware store. Griggs had everything I needed and more. Worth the drive out to the valley, a mini vacation while we are all still quarantined at home.

Great nursery store for all your plant adventures. Got surprised at checkout with a sale! We were very into looking at the succulents. They even have pre-made succulent pots with different varieties.

Great nursery, the staff are friendly and knowledgeable and always there to help. They also know where everything is--just ask and if they have it, they will take you to what you are looking for and if they dont have it, they will special order. Plants are healthy, prices are reasonable and they have an unusual selection that you dont see everywhere. Ive been going there for years and have never had a bad experience. Best nursery on the peninsula.

Griggs is one of the most impressive nurseries. It is really a destination, totally different than going to Home Depot. Some things are a little bit more expensive but it’s like a plant heaven full of plants you can buy. I would pay an admission fee to go in! Love the place.

The very best local nursery in the Peninsula. Best quality of all merchandise. I bought lots of colors for the hotels I contracted. Great & friendly staff. Check it out. Its so worth the drive in the Valley.

After buying many new supplies and plants for my new home in Carmel Valley over the past year, today I was disappointed to learn that Griggs does not stand behind their products. I went in with a $12.99 potted salvia that I bought in May, planted in early June, and had to pull out after it failed to thrive. In fact, it died, while the other new plantings did very well in the same garden area. I fully expected Griggs to take it back and provide a replacement, but no, they do not refund or exchange plants. Their reason: Were a small family business. Uh huh. Ive owned a small independent business myself, and I never, ever made a customer swallow the cost of an item that was not fully satisfactory. So now Griggs pitiful little business will get just a bit smaller than they would have if theyd just given me another salvia. Ill be glad to drive another few miles to buy it from someone whose customer relations mean more to them than $12.99.

I have been buying plants here for the past 4 months. I bought a lemon tree with soil and a pot about 3 months back for about $300I was told how to plant it how much to water it and how much sun it should get by an employee. That person pretty much told me how to kill me tree. I went back and expressed how I felt and was told I can buy a new tree and soil and start over for a cheaper price this time. He didnt try and help me with the bugs that I got from his plant and soil. That now are spread throughout my plantsI dont recommend. Would rather start from seed then get this kins if service from a returning client

Although Griggs Nursery used to do gardening work, they now refer customers to their former crew run by Cesar Vargas for work. Unfortunately, in our experience, Cesar was incredibly unprofessional to say the least. He made representations guaranteeing his work to compete with other crews & get the job, which he then failed to honor, making excuses along the way. You should not use this crew and Griggs should not be recommending them to customers.

A couple weeks ago I came upon Griggs while looking for some succulents to add to my collection. I proceeded too find what appeared to be a nice, healthy selection but upon further investigation found multiple cases of aphids and one rare plant (Kalanchoe prolifera) with a bad scale infestation. Despite this I bought to plants, a Silver Squill and a Euphorb, as well as mentioned the scale to the cashier. The squill is in poor condition despite following expert care instructions from the internet. Thats not the end of the story though. I returned with some friends about a week later. The Kalanchoe still had scale. It had not been treated nor touched since my initial encounter. I looked even harder at the plants this time and noticed giant, overwatered Agaves that appeared to be succumbing to rot. All this being said, I checked out the annuals and perennials which appeared to be in fine condition. Do not go here for succulents.

I have been to Griggs several times making several purchases. In the times that Ive had to use the restroom, they ONLY have porta pottys. The first time I used it, it was absolutely repulsive with poop, pee, toilet paper and literally crap all over the place. Being a farm girl, I just dealt with it in hopes that it was a one time fail on their part. But every time it is stomach churning, nasty and unbearable. I brought it up to the employees and they said that is the restroom they have and the waste company only comes once a week to clean it. However, there is a huge hose right outside the porta potty. Why cant they hose it down and do a little something? Why cant they provide hand sanitizer? Why cant they do more? I can not believe that the employees are satisfied with using those. It is a shame that the let a minor issue ruin this nursery and I can not believe they treat their customers & employees this way. It truly went from an enjoyable place to be to a stench of a place to be. I always support local businesses and do not mind paying more to do so, but I will be going to Home Depot from now on and paying 1/20 of the price to get the same thing.
