2016-09-28 18:27:16Before I met Jay, I took lessons for 4 months with another golf instructor in Newport Beach. I spent lots of money and time but had really not improved. After about 10 minutes into my first lesson with Jay, I knew this guy was the real deal. After about 2-3 lessons with Jay, my swing improved immediately. He has a very specific systematic way of teaching golf that is easy for a beginner like me to understand. Jay breaks down and explains every element of the swing. But more importantly, he will drill it into your head until it becomes subconscious. There are lots of golf instructors in my area, but it is well worth it for me to drive down to Brea to see him. Keep up the good work Jay! Best instructor ever!

2016-07-03 15:07:10I was a complete beginner when I first started taking lessons from Jay and now Im better than all my buddies who were better than me just a few months ago. Its not about hours of practice, its about practicing the right things. Jay isnt just a great golf instructor, hes the best teacher Ive ever had. I wanted to share my personal experience because the results are literally amazing! If youre serious about getting good at golf, gotta see Jay.

2023-03-15 06:08:07Omg! Jay Lim! Is the BEST! This review is waaaaay overdue!! I use to take my boys for private lessons when he was teaching in/near Fullerton. We lived in Seattle and whenever we use to visit my parents I would take my younger boys for golf lessons during the summer visits when we could. They are now young adults. So this was about 10 years ago. I would recommend Jay for sure,!

2018-10-20 05:02:31After three different instructors, watching tons of videos, and countless buckets at the range...Ive finally have structure to my swing. Jay is not only a great guy, he is a top notch golf instructor. After four lessons, I no longer pick the ball...Im striking the ball better than ever with a crisp downward blow. Jays method of teaching is no nonsense. He has a talent to get to the core of my swing flaws, break them down, and build them back up. If youre serious about improving your golf game, go see Jay!

2016-09-26 23:40:42Jay is an amazing instructor. You wouldn’t be able to find anybody who understands playing and instructing golf better than Jay does. His teaching is very easy to understand because he will point out exactly what you need to do to make your swing better. I would recommend Jay to both experienced and first time golfers. You’ll see better results in the first lesson.

2017-08-05 15:48:55Jay is an exceptional golf coach.Ive been golfing for 7 years and had 3 previous golf instructors from Pasadena, to Koreatown, and West LA. Jay is hands down the best.FUNDAMENTALS & KNOWLEDGEMy golf game did not improve until I met Jay. My previous coaches would always tell me to swing, then adjust my swing, hands, footwork, etc., without explaining the purpose behind the adjustments. One coach would adjust my swing mid-way through the swing or tell me to hinge my wrists mid-way through the swing and never explained why - this was frustrating. The adjustments would translate into results during the lessons, but they were NEVER repeatable. The day after I had these other coaches lessons I could not hit the ball and it was very frustrating trying to figure out why. After taking lessons with Jay he taught me the fundamentals of the golf swing from: set-up, to hand position, to posture. Now, I have a specific routine that I follow every time I play and practice. If my shots become erratic during play, I just go back to the fundamentals: step 1 - grip, step - 2 posture, step - 3 set-up, etc. and that enables me to get back on track, rather than guessing and getting frustrated. One invaluable detail I learned from Jay that my previous coaches never taught me was the plane of the lower half of the golf club. Typically, during set-up you grip the club and rest it on the ground and assume the plane is parallel to the ground. However, depending on your grip that plane may unintentionally change. And even a small change can make a big difference. Jay taught me to check the plane of the golf club before every swing and make adjustments if necessary. This detail improved my swing dramatically and made my shots more straight and consistent.COMMUNICATIONJay is a great communicator. He will always tell you why hes teaching you a particular aspect of the golf swing, instead of saying just because. In addition, his video work and hands-on instruction allow you to see every detail of your swing, which allows you more information to digest, which translates into faster and substantive results.MOTIVATIONALJay is also a motivational and inspiring coach. He will challenge you beyond your limits to make you improve and offer enlightening perspectives to make you think creatively. One issue I had was swing speed. I would always swing slow because I didnt think I could hit the ball swinging fast. Jay changed that immediately. First, he told me to swing a baseball bat (I used to play high school baseball). The baseball swing was fast and controlled. Then, he told me to use the same mentality to swing at the golf ball. I remember distinctly, he said dont think, just hit it like a baseball. I did and I crushed the ball. The ball would travel on average 30 yards farther (using a PW). My contact was good, distance was good, but I still had to work on direction. But after a few lessons and adjustments my direction improved and my shots were consistently landing on the green or within 10 yards of the green. I remember hitting 10 consecutive shots that landed directly on the green - VICTORY.LESSON PLANJay prepares a detailed lesson plan for every lesson. Jay tailors each lesson specifically to your development, which allows for consistent and incremental improvement. My previous coaches would just tell me to hit at the range. Jay tells me to hit with goals in mind - thats the difference between a regular instructor and GREAT instructor.FACILITIESJay has a great facility with high end golf and video equipment. His place is clean and spacious and parking is always easy. He also offers a practice area with video simulation where you can practice before and after every lesson - thats a huge plus when youre in the groove after a great lesson and you just want to hit more.CONCLUSIONI would highly recommend Jay to anyone that wants to learn golf. He will teach you long lasting fundamentals, challenge you to be your best, but most importantly, improve your game significantly.

2014-03-20 06:40:44I met and began taking lessons from Jay when I first moved to Orange County three years ago. He explained to me not only the correct positions and sequences, but also how the body worked and why it was efficient. In the past I have received instruction from top teaching pros in Illinois, Florida, and Arizona and I never walked away fully understanding what had been explained. I realized Jay was teaching golf the way it needed to be, organized and scientific.I believe in the Jays system and instruction so much that I quit my job to become an instructor at the academy. We all have the same goal, to improve every golfer to their potential in the shortest amount of time possible.

2018-05-23 15:45:53Jay is a miracle worker. In one lesson I came out hitting the ball 20-25 yds further! Jay provides you the tools to play as consistent as youll ever want to play. The best part about taking lessons with Jay is that he provides you the knowledge you need to correct your own swing. If you want to play more consistent and understand the break down of your golf swing. This is the place to go !! Looking forward to the next lesson.

2014-11-20 23:12:22If taking 15 strokes off your game after 2 lessons isnt an indicator of how good Jay is, I dont know what is. I played golf for many years as a teenager.....now that Im almost 30 it was harder to just pick up again than I thought it would be. After struggling for about six months, I finally went for some lessons based on my Dads raving recommendation (a rare thing for him, so you know its legit when he says its good).Jays approach to teaching is very different than other teachers Ive had. Instead of yapping about the same keep your head down, swing your hip, steady feet etc. he actually helps you to conceptualize what a perfect swing should be based on bio-mechanics. Hes also a very good judge about where your swing is, giving you only enough info to continuously improve. After only three lessons I was consistently hitting straighter, further and with a lot less effort. This goes for my irons as well as driver, which I couldnt even hit and am now clearing the safety net at my local driving range just a few months later. Also, after only a 20 minute chipping lesson, I am consistently in awe of how well I am chipping after learning the Jay method, as he likes to call it. Point being, if you have been looking for an effective golf teacher who will turn your game around in just a few, affordable lessons, Jay is the guy!

2018-05-22 02:01:53If you want to improve your golf game, Jay is your guy! After just 5 lessons I’ve come a long way. His step by step program develops your swing mythodically and doesn’t let you to bite off more than you can chew. It’s exactly what I needed to rebuild my swing from the ground up. His interactive video instruction allows him to break down the elements of each swing. What went well and what needs improvement becomes quite obvious! Thanks Jay, you are awesome! I’ll be back soon.
