We had a wonderful experience at Goldsmiths in Big Bear this past Mothers day weekend. It was my Mothers Day wish to go on a family bike ride with our entire family. With our one year old we were in need of renting a baby carrier for the bike. From the moment we walked into Goldsmiths we were greeted by three friendly smiles and were set up and ready to go in under 20 minutes. Absolutely wonderful experience and highly recommended. 🤩

Hands-down, the best shop in big Bear Mountain right down the street from the lift. Mario was very helpful and answered all of our questions as newbies we had a lot. He made sure we had the right gear for our level and we were happy with our purchase will come back for more. Also, we rented the gear here and it was a lot better than what’s available on the mountain if you get a performance package.

This place is AMAZING! I made a BIG mistake that almost cost me my day trip, fortunately, the owner Dallas and the amazing folks at Goldsmiths were very kind to make some accommodation to help me still get up to the mountain!! On top of that, Paul, a kind gentleman who works at Goldsmiths has always taken care of me and my friends every time we visit, always with our best interest always in mind. Me and my buddies will never go anywhere else for our gear!!

We spent $128.21 for $470 of goods.This shop had incredible sales, and when we were looking at some gloves (discounted from $50 to $9 -yes, really), they offered a discount for gloves that werent on sale as well. We bought shirts and jerseys discounted to $10.We also needed a bike repair the day before, which is how we discovered them, and they were done within half an hour. We were expecting a $60 charge, but it only cost $20 (brake bleed/line repair and seat post cut).The people here are incredibly friendly and helpful in recommendations. They seem to enjoy talking about places to go and areas to visit.If I could give more than 5 stars, I would.

I ended up here because it was the only shop in bear that does the master fit snowboard boot insoles molding. This is a great shop with lots of help on the floor. I was lucky enough to end up being helped by Dallas the owner. He was great and my new custom molded insoles did not disappoint.

Came up to big bear for the weekend and wanted to do something fun and outdoors. We saw goldsmiths had great reviews and reasonable pricing and went with them. Everybody on the staff was so friendly especially Jason who helped us fit/adjust the bikes and sent us on our way! They also have great recommendations for paths to take depending on what your looking for. We went down by the lake which was all paved and the bikes had no problems at all! Such a fun experience and I will be coming back to goldsmiths next time!

We needed some last minute gear and did we luck out with this mountain original ski store. Britney was so friendly, she helped us greatly to find everything we needed in no time and with 25% season end discount on most things, couldnt be better. Its great that we still have these locally owned places by enthusiasts that have a story to tell. Tomorrow well be renting some gear there as well, thats my store from now on.

Rented a board and boots. Great service! Staff was friendly. It was my 1st time snowboarding. Im 59, 185 lbs. I was given a 148 and I did pretty good even though my friends said I shouldve used a lil longer board. Return was smooth and easy.

We had a great experience. We rented for two 12 year olds and the employees were so helpful and patient. Andrew in the rental department was awesome and super friendly. Mario in the front went above and beyond and set up my bindings and waxed my board. All in all it was a greatWay to start our vacation. Highly reccomend these guys! They offer new 2024 downhill bikes for the same price as competing stores and the resort who offer old beat up bikes. I had the pleasure of renting their Santa Cruz v10 and got nothing but compliments on my bike all day at the resort. It rode like a dream.

These guys made renting bikes fun! I have been in a lot of shops like this and they often leave me with the feeling that I shouldn’t be there, because I’m just not cool enough. Not this crew! I have to say i’ve rented and purchased ski equipment all over the country. Goldsmiths has to be the number one top of my list for customer service and everything else. The atmosphere there is what you would want when you come to a town to experience the ski atmosphere. The people there make you feel like family. My 13 yr old son and I went to Goldsmiths for the 1st time on Feb 16 to prepare for a trip to Park City, Utah. Our experience was 5 stars. I was assisted by the owner, Dallas, and two staff, Paul and Henrick. We were able to obtain a season rental of performance skis, boots and poles which will last us through spring skiing. What a great $ savings for us!I also purchased boot and ski bags, helmets and a ski jacket. All their helmets have MIPS technology which is impressive. Dallas was fair and enjoyable to work with and his staff were terrific.Check them out - you won’t be disappointed.

Had some 15 year old skis and wanted to demo the newer wider skis. Talked to Mario for a while and he suggested I try some Head Kore 93s.Loved them and when I returned them I talked to a couple of guys working rentals, Branden and another guy from Colorado who but grew up in OC about the skis I demoed. Ended up buying them.First time in the shop and had a great experience. Shout out to Cameron and Marcus who set up the demos for me and my wife.

You pay for what you get in most cases but these people here are fantastic and have great deals and some of the best boot fitters in the nation. I am 3 tracker and ski racer and they were the only people in the whole world that I let touch my boot. I make sure when I am home from racing to go straight there and get my ski retuned and it’s like they make it better and better each time. You if you can make it here no where else. The owner even watched my newborn while wife and I shopped. This is my favorite ski store.

I went to Goldsmith because my research told me that they were one of the best ski shops in Southern California and I wasn’t disappointed. They were very personable and experienced and kind and ultimately upfront with me when I needed something I used to that they couldn’t provide, which is a very small size volume hyper performance boot. I appreciate that they worked to get my needs Matt and didn’t pressure me to buy when we couldn’t find something that worked. Also, I think almost anybody who isn’t a former racer with tiny feet will find what they need here!

Im very happy with Goldsmiths. I have been going here for years. They were nice enough not to charge me a 2nd day of rental when I had to cut my trip a little short because my kid got sick. Much appreciated. Thank you Shawn.Pricing is pretty good. Do your research on any snowboard before you buy it though. Their recommendations are based on the slopes in Big Bear and do not necessarily cover other mountains. I bought a board here in the past and found to great for Bear, but too flexible for more difficult mountains.

I don’t recommend. The manager is rude. When I returned back my equipment they said poles were not ok. They charged 30 bucks in my credit card and I have the pictures of the equipment according to the orientation of the Goldsmith. Definitely go to another store if you want to avoid problems.

Came up to Big Bear to ride our new Pedigo bikes and had trouble with one battery. Looked up the nearest Pedigo shop and it was right in Big Bear city! Hi the staff was both very helpful and friendly. Shop is nice and clean and the equipment was good. They gave us a 15% discount as well for printing out and filling out their forms in advance. Definitely would go back. (Update - I went back)Note my second season with Goldsmiths, last year we had Jim fit us with boots at the end of the year, he explained everything we needed to know about the boots and sized us up. Interestingly I got a $600 pair (I believe it was 25% off that price) and my daughter tried on boots from $250 to $800 and turns out Jim recommended the $250 boots, just because of the way they fit her feet. This year we did the season rentals for skis, which is good and bad, Good because we dont have to wait every time, but bad because we are in Goldsmiths a lot less this year. Sadly, we might buy skis from them this year, and show up even less.

Skis - Boots - Bindings Awesome Experience!Shattered my old ski boot on Opening Day which meant All New Equipment as newer boots and pretty old bindings are incompatible.Everyone I spoke to (at least a dozen people) on the Mountain, on the slopes, and in a different rental shop said.... Goldsmiths! Go see Dallas or Jim.Ive heard about this store for years, and now, with a whole season ahead, I needed them.I have to say everyone I spoke to in this store was friendly, interested, eager and engaging, from the front counter to fitting, rentals, returns, and repairs. Everyone!I met Dallas Monday afternoon and tried on at least 6-7 different boots. He measured, asked questions, made suggestions, and listened. I have a high instep and my foot always goes numb. Not Anymore. Dallas set me up with the Lange LX 120 HV and tricked it out with custom fitting. Three solid ski days in total boot comfort. Its going to be a great season.Next, we discussed skis and he recommended I demo 3 pair (1 day) at a very reasonable price. Goldsmiths will credit two demo days toward a purchase in the same season. What an awesome deal. We talked, he listened, and made some great recommendations. Day one was great. He listened to my feedback and made additional recommendations to demo 3 more on Day 2.I didnt think I would notice and understand the nuances of each ski, but it was really easy to feel and narrow it down after 6 skis. I took the favorite for one final run - on tired legs - to verify it was THE ski. Five... Runs... Later, I made my decision.Head Kore 93 177cm Atomic Strive 12 BindingsAwesome to have the whole setup - designed for ME.I dont write reviews, but I decided on Demo Day 1 that I would absolutely post a review for Goldsmiths Sports. I found this place years ago because I read an article in Powder magazine that they are in the top ten boot fitters in the world. I ended up checking them out and Jim was indeed an expert ski boot fitter. They have an excellent selection of skis, boots, boards and everything you need for the slopes in the winter. They also convert to a bike rental shop in summer and they have every kind of bike, including high end full suspension mountain bikes. They also have an excellent repair shop for bikes as well. What a fun bike ride and amazing customer service from Goldsmith’s! Cameron helped us and gave us a thorough walk through on the rental bike and how to get to the trail. It is the most picturesque trail. Perfect distance for a family of 4. On our way back out little one fell and Cameron was super attentive in first aid and getting us band aids. I have always had such a hard time finding ski boots that fit over my calves but this place is different. Usually when I go to get fitted I have to go through the process of convincing the fitter that the average boot won’t fit/work for me but as soon as I sat down here my concerns were listened to and addressed first thing. I hate giving this business a lower rating, however the end result of my experience doesnt warrant a higher rating.First, the staff, from the owner Dallas, to Jen to Jim at the front of the store, were more than helpful when I made a reservation online and picked up the skis I reserved for my son for skiing the next day.Although my son is a level 1 skier, the bindings were set to 0 and the boot to binding set up was not correct. On our first run, he continually popped out of his bindings, without even falling. We had to spend almost 2 hours of our morning off the runs and waiting in the repair line to get them set correctly, which cost another $10. Once the repair was made, everything was great. I thought I would save time and money renting from Goldsmiths, but in the end it costed me more of both.However, it was when I made the return and explained what happened that was upsetting. I did not get the name of the person I returned the equipment to, but when I explained what happened that day, he responded with, well, the skis were set up to your specs, level 1... that was it. There was no, sorry for the inconvenience, no offer to refund the $10 I spent to correct the problem, or even $10 off for a future rental... he just let me walk out.I had 1 day of skiing with my son and wasted nearly 2 hours of it due to improper set up of the equipment. Im sure this shop is better than this but it wasnt my experience.

My grandpa had experienced an unfortunate flat thanks to a large screw in his tire and Jason was kind enough to give him a ride back to my grandpa’s cabin to get his spare tire tube. Holly Cow! A real deal bona fide ski repair shop inside one of the most well-stocked ski and board shops around. Brought in my unused older skis with marker bindings. After an extensive search these guys were the only ones that were able to mount the bindings. Went for a boot fitting. Staff was very dismissive and disrespectful when I was trying to voice concerns about what I was looking for. They tried to downplay my skill and experience as a skier rather than listen to what I had to say. It wasnt until about 45 minutes in when they realized why I had my concerns (in regards to the way my feet fit in ski boots). About an hour in the boot fitter stopped paying attention to me, even though I had an appointment, to help another person who walked in without an appointment because she was a regular, leaving me sitting there for 30 minutes without assistance. This was our second visit to Goldsmiths and my previous 5-star experience was not a fluke. Goldsmiths is an extremely personable high-throughput equipment rental and ski shop. Everyone we interacted with was very friendly and efficient, getting us what we needed despite the number of outstanding parallel demands and lots of customers waiting.We were in for skis but we had some sledding to do too. They sell sleds, but they also RENT a REALLY nice sled complete with padded seat and sturdy handles. I highly recommend renting this sled and trying it out on a big hill if you, like me, exceed the weight limit of the typical plastic toboggans/saucer sleds.Theyll rent you skiis, boots, poles, helmet, parka, and bib. You need your own goggles and gloves (though theyll sell you those if needed).Best time to go during the high season is about 30 minutes before they close, mostly for traffic reasons.

I took my my brand new ski set up to get mounted the other night around 7:00, I was super excited to ride it the next day so I had asked if they could rush the mounting process, they said they could try and they would do their best but they had other stuff they were working on as well. They did a great job, mounted the bindings exactly how I wanted them and put a stone to my edges to dull them down a bit for the park. I rode the next day and the skis were perfect! I dont think Ive ever been to a more efficient ski rental operation - 10 mins for rentals and 1 min for drop off. Prices are great too!

Dallas was the worst sales rep Ive ever dealt with in the country. He was incredibly condescending and spoke to me like I was offending him right from the first interaction. He tried to sell me a bike with shredded tires, brakes that didnt function, and taped up gear shifters for $200. I found a bike at a thrift store in great condition and better in every department for $60. I cant believe how insulting and inappropriate my experience was at their shop.

My friend and I rented mountain bikes from here and it came with a helmet, knee pads, and other gear to keep us safe on the mountain. This place has great rental prices and everything that we rented was brand new and in excellent condition. I will definitely rent from here again!

Hired two mountain bikes. The staff are so friendly and helpful with lots of good advice on the trails. They helped us to have a great day on the wonderful bike trails at Big Bear. The bikes are good quality and well maintained. I highly recommend riders to head to Goldsmiths to ensure a great day - what we also learnt was there were more great trails than we could do in a day so we will have to go back..

Great spot! They tuned and waxed my skis and I got a helmet from these guys. They were super knowledgable and helped me make a decision that felt genuine. They were not trying to get me to spend money but rather trying to make me feel like I was safe and had everything I needed. Big difference.

Very predatory return policy on night rentals. Expect you to have them returned by 9pm when slopes close at 8:30, seems reasonable until you encounter your car buried under 3 feet of snow with a line of cars out the entrance. Got there at 9:10 with lights off. Returned them next day in the AM and was charged for a full day. I was in a line of people getting charged for a full day, total gold mine racket for goldsmiths. Never going here again thats for sure.

Not that Goldsmiths needs any more good reviews, but I had such a pleasant experience that I could not help it! I am a relatively new skier, and they helped me get outfitted with some of the necessary gear. They were conscious of the cost, never trying to upsale me just for the sake of it (poles for instance). Everyone I encountered clearly new their stuff, and when it was not their specific area of expertise they were humble enough to refer me to a different staff.This eventually led to my boot-fitting experience with Jim. While it is readily apparent of the breadth and depth of Jims skiing knowledge, the guy is truly a boot-fitting maestro. He took detailed measurements, asked lots of questions, and helped me understand me understand the relevant details often by connecting it to other experiences I have had.Shout out to Chris to for refitting my bindings, tuning up my skis, and teaching me some things along the way too. I rented earlier in the day and had a great experience both with the staff and the gear as well. Will be back!

The team at Goldsmiths are first class. Folks like Dallas, Danielle and Jim are friendly, patient and very knowledgeable. It is clear they are very focused on taking care of your individual needs. Cute place. Good bikes. Near a beautiful trail. However, had a bit of a problem with the customer service. I fell off the electric bike going downhill and the chain got out of place. Unfortunate, but no ones fault. I tried to walk it back for 10 minutes but my leg was on fire, so my family tried to help, but eventually they had to just ride back. One member of our party showed up at 6:05, 5 minutes past, to say sorry we were late. Which yes, we were. Anyway, I get picked up on the side of the road as Im bruised and bleeding and got a bit of a snarky lecture about being late and how his wife and kids are crying at home and his guys need to be paid overtime now, and some awkward silence bc I was a bit in shock. Which yes! I understand the frustration when a party who rents your equpment is late, and you have legitimate life stressors to make you irked or upset. But also, your customer just ATE it going downhill in the middle of traffic and is injured !!! I dont deserve it being taken out on me. Yes, we kept them probably 20 minutes in total of getting the bike back and I truly am and was sorry, and will take the entirety of the blame, but please understand there was more happening on our other side of just being late. I am sorry for being late and that the chain popped out, but I did not appreciate the lack of reciprocal empathy for your customer whose leg is now swollen and cut up, it was an accident.

This place keeps getting better each time we return.This last year (2016), they had multiple computers set-up to get your size, rental info, etc. for ease of access.Rental prices were fantastic and beats all their competitors.I highly recommend their services.

The service guys repaired the BOAs on my snowboarding boot. I dropped it off at the end of the day and it was ready for me first thing in the morning. Their staff was very friendly and the price was great.

Today we did a ski boot fitting with my girlfriend ahead of our Utah trip and Jimmy’s service was outstanding. He took the time to understand her as a skier and to make sure the boots fit great. I’ve been skiing for 37 years in all kinds of gear and conditions (both Northern and Southern Hemisphere) and I grew up thinking a ski boot had to hurt and learned to accept it (and to unbuckle the boots any chance I got) but my girlfriend is not ok with that. It turns out the pain was optional, and when you do a boot fitting with a knowledgeable person (like Jimmy) you can rule the pain out. I just wish I had done this a lot sooner :-)

Goldsmith’s was cheaper and way friendlier than the resort! The staff was very helpful and beyond friendly even though it was 7am. I had my paperwork filled out for both of my kids and we were in and out in under 20 minutes with boots, boards and helmets.I’ll be using Goldsmith’s from here on out!
