I called the end of April to freeze my membership, I was told a request would be sent in to freeze it and that I might not be able to for May but June I definitely would make the cut off. I got charged full price in both May and June and was told “I’m sorry there’s nothing I can do I don’t see a request”. I’m disappointed this is how they handle their own mistakes. I will be cancelling my membership and not returning.

The lady greeted me when I came in for the first time. Polite staff. It’s a small to medium size for this gold’s location. Everything looks clean in the gym, except the men’s restroom is small & wet. Kinda gross.Still, the customer service at this location is way better than gold’s Venice.

I was very impressed with their client experience. Very friendly on the phone and in person as well. Not a large gym, so not that many different types of machines, however, I didnt have to wait to use any machines. Its located next to the Culver City mall. Lockers were very clean.

Wish I could give zero stars. DO NOT SIGN UP FOR A MEMBERSHIP HERE. I have been a member for almost a year and I have been trying to cancel for over a month now and it’s an endless circle with dead ends. I have even sent screenshots of the instructions on the website and no one will reply. I’ve been told to call to cancel and then told over the phone I can’t cancel over the phone. I’ve been told to cancel via the website or a link that pulls up with an error. Their website states in a hard to find spot that you need to email the general manager and he let me know that I could call or use the link that does not work. I tried reaching out to the support email listed all over their website and I got an auto response letting me know that the mailbox is no longer monitored and no one will help me. Seriously such a waste of my time and energy and I still haven’t been able to cancel. Save yourself the headache!!

Woman at front desk didn’t make anything clear that I was to pay for a month to cancel my subscription. I went to this gym one time and I’m paying $62 for it. As a black woman I feel like one of the Hispanic male janitors keeps following me around. Every time I find another area of the gym whether it’s squat racks or a bicep curl machine, he conveniently starts cleaning in that area. It’s like he lingers the whole time I’m in any area of the gym. When I come in and out the restroom he is standing right at the door. He creates a very unwelcoming environment. There is a mirror in the tanning room that is right across from a bicep curl machine and I saw him behind me in the mirror constantly walking back and forth. It’s like he was tormenting me on purpose. It was distressing, but I still overcame and finished a good workout. Management needs to insure diversity is welcomed and their staff isn’t targeting people who don’t look like them. No one should be harassed the way I’ve been harassed at this location when working out is the best thing you can do for your mind and body. I was here on a Sunday afternoon on 11/19/23.

After experiencing Golds Gym in another area, I have to say this one is a lower budget GG. I will say the staff is always nice to me and greets me, and it really is clean. They always have staff cleaning so thats a positive. but its just soooo small! They dont have a lot of equipment. They have like 1 or two equipment for each muscle you want to workout, so if theres someone on there you have to wait. It reminds me of a beginners gym. It gets crowded fast because its just so small. I wish they could move into a larger location. I also feel like I cant meet personal goals and gains because of the lack of equipment they have. You get a travelers pass, so I am really enjoying my 14 days at the other location. and Im looking to switch locations.

I’ve been a member at gold for 4 years and came in with two friends that were interested in joining. Gym manager Daniel Silva might be the most incompetent manager I have ever met. Never seen him before so maybe he’s new but when the two friends asked to check out the gym before joining he rudely turned them away. Not to mention there is a free 7 day trial going on which he never brought up. Could’ve had two more members at this location but instead he lost one long time member. Do better Daniel

Scam! they do not reveal all the information unless you ask every details. They are just there to sell membership. I went there to get the 7 day free trial and they put me in a position to get their membership and took out a lot of money. In addition, their amount of paper work is like I am buying a house, this is ridiculous. They want to take multiple types of payment information including bank account and credit cards. Single type would not work for them.The last but not the least, their cancellation policy is ridiculous. They DO NOT cancel your membership at this place, rather they would provide you a different number to call in which you would have to waste another 30-40 minutes to just cancel the membership.I hate this place and the people who are running this place, they are just scam, just want to take the money!

Terrible experience. I came to make a free pass and get to know the unit with my wife, and the attendant Daniel Silva embarrassed us and did not let us do our free pass because we did not have proof of residence in hand. We showed our bank statement address and they didnt accept it. We have been living here for a short time and we have our bank with the California address and he said it was not valid. Thats absurd. Because paying the daily rate they do not ask for any kind of proof of residence. In other words, your receipt is your payment. Misleading advertisement for 1 week of free pass. Extremely disappointed with this team and I advise no one to train in this unit. ZERO NOTE

Discriminate against people with disability. I have a communication disorder and had asked staff to assist with a noise complaint. I was initially told this would be handled. But it was not, so I asked the staff member for assistance again.he promised for a second time that it would be handled and it was not. The third time I approached the staff member, I requested the manager contact information. He started, muttering under his breath, and made faces at me, despite my request for help. He then asked if I wanted other ways to contact the manager and when I I simply said, the email address was fine he continued to ask me why I didn’t want other ways to contact the manager, instead of just giving me the information I had asked for. He finally told me the email address but the email address was incorrect so my initial concern was not handled and there was no way for me to escalate this distressing interaction with staff to the manager.

Watch out, they add up charges to your CC even when they say they wont. Signed up & paid in December during a promotion they had, being assured I could cancel in a month if I didnt enjoy it. I ended up calling to cancel in January as I was traveling and was told that I could put it on freeze instead, with NO charge, so I complied. After putting on freeze, I kept being charged and called in to have that refunded, twice, and still got no refund. I called to cancel and was given another phone number to call. I called again to request my refund and gave my number so the store manager could get back to me but was never called back. This is very unprofessional and disregard for the customer. When I am back I will be going with another gym.

This gym is truly 🙌 full of positive vibes. The staff and the members of the gym are super friendly. I was originally part of the downtown golds gym but I came in to switch over. Not only did they switch me over but they also hooked me up with a special deal that saved me a lot of money. They were really dedicated in helping me with the whole process and explaining things thoroughly. Ive been going consistently and the atmosphere has been extremely motivational. Because of this Ive been referring friends, family this place is awesome and consistent. Clean and machines are always up to date.

Nice gym but very small and no sauna in women’s locker room. Free parking which is a plus and people don’t usually hogg equipment or machines for long. The employees seem nice I haven’t really had much experience with them but at least they always make sure to greet me and wish me a good day when I leave. I wish they had a sauna for women’s because that would be a game changer for me. Overall not a bad gym and it’s not as dirty as other gyms I have been to around town.

After years of being a member and having built great relationships with the team and members, a new trainer by the name of Austin Lapensohn has come in and totally destroyed the golds gym experience for me and my friends. He goes above and beyond to make me and my friends feel uncomfortable. Another member even saw him taking photos of us working out the other day. His behavior is unacceptable and should not be tolerated. Ive emailed corporate about this and will be looking into filing a formal complaint as no one should be harassed, for any reason especially by an employee of brand built on motivating and inspiring its community.UPDATE!!!!!! So after addressing issues of harassment by a new employee by the name of Austin with their VP Troy Richardson, the company has done absolutely NO investigation into my claims and has decided to revoke my membership. This employee has made several other female members feel the same way, and now will feel justifiably so by the actions of Golds gym. Its absolutely appalling! To make matters that much more unprofessional, they could not even directly address my issues but rather sent me a generic text message through their messaging system. This is after speaking directly with their VP who assured me they valued my membership, and would look into this.I was a long time member who added value to that gym by promoting their brand, bringing new members and always motivating those around me. I will definitely be sharing my experience as much as possible so that this person doesnt continue to harass others, and that this gym knows what kinda atmosphere its creating for its members.

I belonged to the Golds Gym in Venice for 25 years and let my membership lapse during the pandemic. When it came time to rejoin-their rates were so much higher than what I had been paying that I decided to check this location out.I love it!! The staff are so friendly and helpful. They always greet you and say goodbye and to have a nice day. Plus the gym smells nice-not like sweat the has baked in for 25 years at Golds Venice.I dont miss the original Golds at all. I like Golds Culver City much more (the only thing I do miss is live classes but they just dont have the space)

It really saddens me to have to write this. Most of the staff here are really nice and the equipment is clean, but I encountered a really rude blonde lady at the front desk on the weekend. I dont know if she is new because I had never met her before, but I had such a horrible experience with her I was shocked that management hired someone with such a terrible attitude.

Equipment is old and outdated. An overwhelming majority of treadmills that don’t get used vs one squat rack. I watched a potential client wait at the front desk for about 10 minutes before the male staff members that were having a conversation with each other noticed. It wasn’t until someone let the lady know. Lastly it’s a small gym. Avoid if you can 🤷‍♂️

This golds gym location is really chill. The front desk workers, erick, rubi, saul, and nick always treat you nice. Any time I go here either afternoon or night, I get welcome with so much hospitality and the cool thing about this location (unlike dtla) it could be slightly packed but youre still able to find the weights you need for your workout and get something done. You might wait (the most) 10-15 min to use a bench,machine, or weight, but thats about it.I also want to add that in certain days and times the gym can be slightly empty by the time its 8 or 8:30pm which is a extreme plus (unlike other locations at that time). Overall this golds location is really chill and good to workout at :)

6/1 I found it extremely unexceptionable that I entered golds gym at 3:30 and had to wait till 5:06 to get access to the bench. I can understand if people were cycling in an out of the equipment but there was two people using it with a number of other equipment. It makes no sense and i wasn’t the only one to notice and was getting frustrated with the situation. There has to be a point when management steps in. How do i pay a monthly subscription to watch someone bench for two hours.

Gym is very small with limited equipment. Members tend to wait at the machine reading/listening to their mobile device while they rest. This is annoying if you are focused and have a routine.Disappointed with their policy to place membership on hold. When I joined I was informed that I can place my membership on hold and not mention of any charge for this, this is typical of other gyms I have been a member of. This was important to me as I communicated to Golds representative that I travel out of state for work and at times for a long period of time.Well, I recently traveled for work but did not place my membership on hold as the period of travel would be for 5 days and did not make sense to me to place the membership on hold. Unfortunately, due to the travel I tested positive for Covid. CDC recommends at least 10 days of isolation. I called Culver City Golds gym to inform them that I needed to place my membership on hold. The response was that I needed to pay $10 to place membership on hold. I do not understand this as I have tested positive for Covid and taking proper CDC precautions and I am told that I need to pay $10 to place membership on hold. This is absurd as I was not informed of this when joining the club and worst is that I am taking CDC precaution to not infect others with Covid.

Please read this before you consider getting yourself involved with this place.I have been furious for months on end regarding my experience with this place, and now I just cannot deal with all of the stress and anger this place has caused me. I am simply disappointed.To start off, in May 2018 I transferred to this location from DTLA as I moved to West LA. The sales manager at the time I signed up, named Robin, made himself seem like he was helping me out. He told me that he was canceling my previous membership and then opened a new account for me at Culver so I could qualify for a lower membership. I double checked with him how long the contract was, and he told me that it was six months. I trusted that he was helping me, but it turns out that he ended up lying to me and had me sign a legal binding contract that locked me in for one year.For the next 3-4 months since transferring, I was consistently double charged for two memberships. No matter how much I called them, they always told me to either call back another time to reach the manager that could get back to me or that they got it and “would send in the request” for me to get the matters resolved.When I thought my contract ended, they continued to charge my membership account and then sent my information to a collection agency, in which I didn’t know about it until I was contacted from the collections agency. They said that my credit would be damaged if I didn’t pay the balance of $175.I will never ever understand how they are still in business after all of the bad reviews I’ve seen and my own experience with this place. PLEASE take in serious consideration all of the bad reviews about this place as they are completely true. Pay a little more for better service and a place that doesn’t scam you or just find any other place to EXCEPT here.

I cancelled my membership within the 5 days required in the contract. I was assured it would be cancelled and followed up by e-mail for record. I was charged a $20 processing fee which I disputed and a month later was charged $22 membership fees.This place makes it difficult to leave, continues to charge you when you do, and ignores communications. It may be a decent gym but it is a sketchy business.

I first joined when the gym first opened, I paid cash for a year and was given 18 months, I was asked for a credit card even though I had pay in full for a year. I was charged a second time for the same amount, I brought my documentation over to the manager who is now a gym owner in San Diego and was taken care of on the spot. For my inconvenience I was added two extra months, so it worked out great. The second time I renewed it was under the manager by the name of Luis, he did not give me the same deal as I had access to all gyms the firs time, he wanted extra for it, which I said negative to. Overall I like the gym, I go in work out and leave and there is no pressure from the trainers as it was when it first opened. The place is clean. Mondays are to be avoided, as everyone is there after work Sundays are the best to work out. Will be renewing once I start working in the area as I no longer reside in 90066. Try it out.

I received a mailer for free use of the gym for July 2016 and suggesting I may win something if I bring I the mailer. 1 week later, someone called me offering 2 weeks free. I told them that I already had the month of July free and he sounded dumbstruck.I took the mailer in and won a 2 week free VIP membership and redeemed it at this gym. Marc Lemons was pleasant but didnt appear to want to give me information. He stated VIP meant I could just use the facility as a member for two weeks when the website clearly says otherwise. When asked about putting a work put plan together he wanted to sell me training.I used to be a member of Golds about 5 years. At that time, I was given an introductory walkthrough and a basic initial workout plan. Today, Marc just showed me where the bathroom was. The people that work there are pleasant enough but being a good person doesnt really matter. Its about making an impact! Ultimately, the staff could use some customer service training.

The gym is decent. The manager, Miriam, is not. I have seen a few complaints about her in reviews. I have found her to be quite incompetent. I was attempting to purchase personal training sessions to work out with Sam, who is greatI needed to split between two cards. She charged one card for $100 more than she was supposed to. Then she took down the wrong numbers for the other card. Her overcharging me ran up the credit limit on the card. A refund was processed, but of course that takes 5-7 days. She was still trying to get me the deal. Somehow my other card then gets charged the full amount. My credit card issuer put a fraud alert. So basically I had no card to use. Its a few days before Christmas and now I have nothing to shop with because my replacement cards wont arrive for 5-7 days. Miriam ruined my holiday. I was not able to buy presents for my loved ones. It was all her mistake and error yet she refused to take responsibility for her mistakes. This is why I give one star. If she had taken responsibility it would have been fine but she did not. The gym has done nothing to rectify the situation. No apology. No compensation. Nothing. A complaint was filed in their system. But I have not heard anything back. I wonder why? Owners, if a manager has consistently bad reviews why are they still working there? Or at least why have they not been re-trained?The apparent solution to solving problems is to ask the customer to contact but then not provide information for someone who can actually help. My advice is to not join this gym. There are plenty of other options.

Decent gym. Good selection of machines and heavy enough weights. However, the trainers often leave weights on machines and sweaty benches behind them so no leading by example there. Also they charged me $80 out of the blue and when I told them to give me my money back they gave me the run around for weeks. Told me I could get credit for the money and so on. I told them to give me my money back but they wouldnt. I ended up posting a fraud claim with my bank who gave me my money back. So, if youre joining here, keep a close eye on your bank account for fraudulent charges from Golds. Also, desk staff could be friendlier but its getting better.

Extremely unhappy and inconsistent for a one month membership i purchased.Trainer cancelled on me twice, the first time, an hour before our scheduled meeting and the second time, no word from him.Gold Gym had a promotion where you could bring a friend per visit for the month of July. The first time i brought a friend, Gold Gym gave him a keychain tab with a barcode. The second time we went, I though we could use the same tab but was stopped and was asked to register with name, address and phone #. The third time, I took my cousin and was immediately halted and was told to pay $20 for day pass. I was left in shock, explaining that Gold Gym had a promotion of bring a friend per visit for the month of July. The man then requested for an ID, i exclaimed, you guys didnt require the first two time, why now?. He continued telling me because of liability issue which made sense to me. But I had told my cousin to leave the ID home since they didnt ask the first two times since having a wallet in the gym was hassle. When i asked the employee if i could speak to the manager, he exclaimed that he was the regional manager. I was halted on the spot as if he were Gandalf himself and had to return home. Three different employee with three different interaction.The employees there are very friendly and also relaxed that no one gives a damn. Proper re-training is due so everyone is on the same page and consequences need to be placed.

Theyre always cleaning the equipment which is the best part about Golds compared to LA Fitness and 24Hour. This gym is a small Golds but has a nice range of free weights, machines and cardio equipment in addition to a nice astro-turf stretch area. The staff isnt overly pushy like some of the newer Golds Ive been to. Nice gym overall.

Front desk is honestly lazy and doesn’t care about the sanitization of the place. Womens bathroom is constantly a mess with toilet paper all over the floor, paper towels missing from the holder, toilet paper missing from the holder but instead sitting on the floor because staff didn’t want to put it in the holder, you can see grime in the toilet bowls and crevices of the bathroom. It’s gross honestly. Addressed this to the front and the girl literally said with attitude “i don’t know what you want me to do I’m the only one here”. I get it I’ve worked at a gym before too but it’s a Sunday and you were on your phone so it’s not that busy you just don’t want to do it.

THIS PLACE RIPS YOU OFF - AVOID AT ALL COSTI went to Golds Gym and asked to sign up for a single-month membership, as I was only visiting the town for a couple weeks. Eddie the manager told me that the gym does not offer any single-month membership, which I later found out was a blatant lie. Another associate at the gym told me later when I asked him that there was actually a single-month membership option.Lying about what options I really had, Eddie told me that my only option was to sign up for a permanent membership but that I could just request cancellation immediately to only use the gym for one month. He guaranteed to me that I would be charged only the initiation fee and JUST ONE month of membership. I asked him multiple times to make sure that I would only be charged for the month of Sept. and not for the month of Oct. or any month afterwards. Despite this associates promise, I was charged on a monthly basis for October and November payments. I emailed the gym telling them about this situation, and they were willing to cancel my membership immediately but NOT WILLING TO REFUND Oct and Nov payments!!!I was already extremely furious that Eddie lied about the options I had when I signed up, but Im now even more furious about the fact that he basically signed me up for a permanent membership and did not cancel the membership immediately like he said he would. I was expecting to pay for only one month of gym use, not pay every month. And the gym isnt taking responsibility by refunding me. This is the worst gym experience Ive ever had in my 15+ years of weightlifting career.AVOID THIS PLACE FOR ITS SHADY SALES TACTICS.

I went in September 2017 to cancel my membership and this guy named Danilo Herrera assisted me and said he would take care of me but that I would still get October charged and then October comes and I still get charged for November. So I call and speak to some guy named Eddy and tell him what is going on and he tells me to come in on Monday because that is when the manager Mark is in and that Danilo would also be there so I can sit down with Mark and Danilo. So I go in on Monday and the manager didnt even speak a word to me he did not even acknowledge me. He had me wait in the front and he had Eddy and Danilo explain the situation to him and he tried to have Eddy convince me that I got charged for October in late October when I know they charge you the month before. I would not have been in this position if Danilo took care of me like he said he was going to the first time. However, due to my research on yelp and google, I am not the first person they do this to. See for yourselves. DO NOT SIGN UP. They do not even have towel service or real amenities like their other locations. Not to mention parking is already a nightmare and the fact it is in a mall, makes parking a nightmare November-January due to holidays because the lots gridlock. The person who decided to put the gym at a mall with gridlocking parking is an idiot. Save yourselves that money and go to a better gym. I can already see them closing down this location because of the massive amounts of scams they have to do in order to make their sales. When I first signed up, my personal trainer told me they were doing bad and needed people to sign up desperately if not they were going to get yelled at for not meeting the sales goals. Scam alert. They are seriously all a bunch of con artists. Dont sign anything with them unless you fully read it because they do not make you aware of all the unnecessary charges that they are obligated to tell you about. Cancelled my membership and 2 months later I am still getting charges and now I suddenly cant get a manger on the phone. And the many trainers are either unreliable or simply dont do as they promised when they were trying to get you buy the packages. Went through 3 trainers for a simple 30 session package.

On 1/30/12 I obtained the primary contract with Golds Gym and on 2/29/12 the second contract. Upon noticing Golds Gym erroneously withdrew an additional payment for the second contract, I immediately contacted the facility. I spoke with the manager (Luis) who claimed he would not be fulfilling the terms of the contract and insulted me and stated I was no longer able to use the facility even though payment has been made in full and even over full for the second contract. He stated he put a lock on my account and I was no longer able to go there. I repeatedly expressed to him that the contract was previously agreed to (and signed) by his staff and I was expecting Golds Gym to fulfill their contractual obligation. He refused and would not allow me to speak any further and continued to insult me for expecting them to abide by their OWN contract. This place fraudulently charged my card an additional payment and now is refusing to allow me to use the services I have already paid for. This facility hires people that apparently incompetent and are illegally entering into contracts they refuse to abide by.

Ive been very disappointed with this gym for a number of reasons one of which is the service and lack of management. I was accidentally bill $650 and when I called the manager to complain he acted completely nonchalantly about it and then it took like 5 business days to remove. Ive had to call 5 times to cancel my membership and they finally just told me they have put in a request but not before telling me I had to come in to cancel. This is on top of the unfriendly service (aside from a couple folks), the lack of professionalism, lack of parking (even though they say its fine), the ever rotating staff of trainers, and the lack of floor space.Ive never been so happy not to have to go back to a gym.

SCAMMERS... What do you call someone taking your money with your consent. I have been asked to provide my credit card details for cancellation charges of $100 since they cant not charge on my checking account. But after a week they charge again on my checking account with my consent. Again, no response from the manager even after making many calls and leaving him a note. GOLDs corporate has to take these things seriously. Your reputation is getting screwed up!!!READ YOUR AGREEMENT!!! sounds silly right. This is what I hear from GOLDs Manager. Let me keep it short, Mr. Quinten signed me up for 12 months contract stating that I could transfer my membership to any other GOLDs facilities. I mentioned him clearly that I will be moving to Texas in couple of months. Now is the time to move, when I tried to transfer my membership. Mr.Marc the manger apologies me saying they cant transfer my membership and charged me the cancellation fees. So, folks, bottom line, do not trust the sweet words while signing up. Sharing my experience so that, no one gets into this trap again. hope this helps.

Golds Gym is a name that has a special pride of place in the hearts of bodybuilders. As such, I was expecting a far more equipped patch than what I found at this branch. Especially as some folks like myself come looking for proper squat racks and deadlifting space, which are limited here. Will have to ensure i am here during the off peak hours to be assured of workout space.

Small gym which can get packed quickly especially the soft mat spot. Theres usually enough parking for everyone. Just make sure to tedt the place out on the time you usually plan to go to see how packed itll get on your usual days, dont get disappointed once you pay for membership.
