Im currently in Thousand Oaks for work. Now I had 2 friends here who really like sports and are trainers themselves. Golds my is quite a name and so we wanted to have a look at the studio. I filled out a form online for a trial training session and was called shortly afterwards. Super nice trainer on the phone and briefly explained everything about my situation and that I have 2 friends here who would like to come with me. It was no problem on the phone. So we packed our things, put on our sneakers and went. On site, nobody could remember us. The lady I spoke to on the phone wasnt there either and everyone was a bit confused. Then came the kicker: 40$ per person for a day pass. The monthly fee is 40$. When I asked about the free trial training (Free Day Pass) I was told that it was only for locals and that we should please pay 120$. A very very disappointing experience and therefore a bad taste in my mouth when I hear Golds Gym. I wont recommend anyone to go there. People here are only interested in money and not in the sport. Very, very sad. Better go somewhere else

This is one of my top 3 gyms. They have more than enough squat racks unlike many other gyms, everything is clean and well-maintained, the pool area is beautiful, and there are distinct steam & sauna rooms separately in the mens and womens locker rooms instead of one communal one.Its just a better experience and I highly recommend it if you want to actually enjoy your workout.

I have been at Golds for a few months now and am pleased with the environment. The facilities are kept very clean, the equipment is well maintained. They have a great variety of equipment and only very rarely have I waited on any equipment. I find the staff to be very friendly however I havent really had any interaction with them other than a hello.If I have any complaint, it would be that the music is too loud for my liking. I would estimate that at minimum 75% of the people there are wearing headsets and listening to something else. I would further guess that those who are not wearing headsets would prefer it turned down as well. Dial it down and you get an overwhelming 5 startsIf you are looking for a new gym, I suggest you give them a look.

After weeks going back and forth with management about missing equipment and being promised it is on the way, i broke down and bought my own. i will bring my machine attachments with me when i work out, and bring them home when im finished. all other users can make due with what is provided.UPDATE!: Still Zero handles, and now people are taking the karabiners. i have alerted management and not received a response. i purchased mt own handles to bring with me each visit since there are now ZERO in the building, but when using them im constantly stopped be other visitors to ask if they can use them.Do better Golds!!

After a recent (not 100% sure when it happened) remodel, this gym is top notch! Plenty of space to workout, lots of squat racks, 2 floors each with a turf area and equipment. The locker rooms are clean, have a steam room and sauna. Equipment always seems clean. I dont interact much with the staff, just scan in and workout, but they seem friendly. Ive been to a number of gyms in the area over the last 15 years, and have to say this is the best vibe so far. I tried this location years ago and it was just average then.I almost hesitate to write this because I dont want the gym to get more crowded.

Honestly it was pretty nice coming here for years with no problem ever. However, this new remodel has attracted so many inconsiderate people who honestly don’t know how to act. It is nice looking but how are you going to add like 8+ squat racks and have only 3 cable machines on the second floor which is constantly packed. The worst part is equipment parts are constantly missing . There is one pair of handles for the entire floor and some machines have the handles missing from people taking them somewhere? Half the stair masters are not even working most of the time too. I always end up going to the one in Simi valley because why deal with this when you can go to one where people treat it like an actual shared space.

The gym is good as well as the folks behind the front desk. My issue is I had two friends come in with me and sign up in the location. The deal is sign up two others and get 12 months free yourself. So far that is a false. I brought in two friends who signed up and at the location and are still members. Six months later and all of us still members, nothing. I am still charged and no one can give me resolution. The onsite membership personal all three Ive talked with, nothing resolved. One young girl made it seem like I was inconveniencing her. Very snooty attitude. The so called site mgr Will, he said hed call me back the next day, 3 weeks later, nothing. A case os false advertising or complete incompetence of staff. I brought people in who signed up in person and Golds has lied about the benefit to me. #Fail Their whole rewards system seems to be a sham. Maybe the owners dont care and only interested in shady marketing too and the benefits to them.

Golds gym doesn’t care about their members or their instructors. Why would you get rid of Albert, one of the best the best instructors that has been loyal to you for well over 10yrs? His classes were always so popular. Now there’s no kickboxing class at all. I renewed my membership specifically for the classes and now I’m stuck for 3yrs with having to go to a gym where I don’t enjoy most of the classes. They take your money just like all the other reviewers say, and then they don’t care about you at all. They even pretend to respond with the retention department but even they don’t do anything for you. I don’t know why they’re putting all these new Les Mills classes that are no good. Don’t refer anyone to them bec they don’t honor giving you the free year unless you hound them for a year. They will make all sorts of excuses. They spent all this money on renovations but they couldn’t get better mats? The mats are thin and hard, might as well lie down on the bare floor-it’s the same thing. Half the bikes in the spin room have problems with them. They sell you on having the massage chairs but they only let you use it for 10mins??!! How is that helpful? Why won’t you listen to the members feedback??!! And reviews??!!

The gym is great after the remodeling & equipment update its become one of my fav gyms to frequent. They also have a 25m pool, jacuzzi, and steam/saunas in the mens locker rooms. Even on the busiest of days there is still ample room to complete your workout because they have tons of equipment, squat racks, platforms, benches, & free weights.The only issue I have with it is there isnt enough stations to wipe down your equipment before/after use. I believe there are only 2 on the first floor & 1 on the 2nd floor. It would be nice if they added more & more bins for the trash. With that being said, if you have sensitive skin or are concerned with the equipment not being cleaned after each use, Id recommend bringing your own towel/cleaner. Its still one of the better gyms in TO even with this minor shortcoming.

Sales team is out of this world annoying. He wouldn’t stop calling and saying that we can’t use the trial pass. We were new to the area and wanted to try out different gyms to make sure the equipment would work for us. He would deny us access and wouldn’t let some of my friends get the trial pass, even though we signed up online. The desk workers were super nice but you could tell he would press them about it. Honestly a terrible sales guy or gm of the building. He clearly doesn’t treat the employees with respect and neither me and my friends. I ended up signing up with a different golds gym sales manager at a different location because he showed us a lot more respect and actually helped us out.

I really wish that gyms using the old model of sales would understand that this method is simply outdated. Slimey ways of wringing money out of people are not going to attract and keep gym-goers long term. By profession I am a personal trainer at various gyms between Chicago and LA for 10 years, and I know that these practices of looping people in are still standard in some gyms but are going out of style.I really am not trying to be a Karen so I encourage the higher-ups in the office of the CEOs to change their policy/business strategy. I do not want to have to push back against front desk staff or fitness managers and feel bad for people working in these positions because that was me once. I am now at a better community gym, I encourage anyone looking for gyms to try out ClassPass. This type of vibe is never good for anyone and doesnt facilitate the best gym experience for anyone.I came in simply to test out the gym on a 3 day pass. I was instantly made to wait and looped into signing up through a $1 dollar sign-up promotion. It was communicated to me that I would still eventually be charged for one month even if I canceled, but because I didnt have/didnt want to give my bank routing and account information, I had to sign up for the top tier price which was $60.On my second visit I brought my boyfriend who I was told when I signed up could be my guest any time and had gave the gym his phone number for this reason, (hes now been receiving promotional calls and still had to grab his ID to enter), and I was shocked that with all the new renovations, this gym doesnt have a TRX machine. As a personal trainer in multiple cities this is shocking. When I asked the fitness manager if they had this, she didnt know what it was. While they have Arnold Schwarzenegger on the walls they should have employees that are familiar with gym equipment. Not trying to be harsh; I truly didnt think TRX was obscure or boujee in any way.When I went to quit, and though this is to be expected and accepted by many people, of course they couldnt do it there for me even though they had no trouble signing me up in minutes. They gave me a card of a phone number to call and wrote down a number for me to give them, the system transfered me to someone who understandably very carelessly was reading a script to loop me back in and offered me three months of membership and personal training. I feel bad for these types of workers and feel that the money spent on them would be better spent else where, like on employees that know what a TRX machine is.

Out of state (here for a week) - tried to redeem the free day pass. I was kept waiting for a half hour before a membership consultant told me they don’t give those to out of staters and told me I could either buy a day/week pass or I’m out of luck.Gym looked great btw, it was just that they unnecessarily kept me waiting for an absurd amount of time before giving me an answer they could have given me from the start.

Customer Service… wow. Just different time we live in. No pride in work or will to accommodate customers. Too many people being paid to stand around- and the phrase “look busy” can be heard LOL 😂 from behind the front desk. I tried not to laugh.Not wasting my time and money here. I’d rather drive further. The first impression… first interactions… MATTER.Repaint. Bring Albert Back!!Ive been a member of Golds for over six years, and one of the key reasons I joined was the outstanding group classes and the emphasis on hiring top-notch trainers. However, Im disheartened and rather shocked to share that their prime trainer, Albert, who has dedicated 12 years to Golds, is no longer leading kickboxing classes here. Management decided to let him go last weekend without consideration.Albert exudes kindness, respect, passion, and unrivaled training skills, consistently drawing a packed class. He has not only been an exceptional trainer but has also played a significant role in building a sense of community at Golds. Many, including myself, primarily attend Golds for his classes. Bring Albert Back!

Nice remodel, love the upstairs stretching area and extra machines. Would also love a cold plunge pool. BUT.. the pounding club music needs to be addressed. Cant even hear music/podcasts on my headphones. So many people have complained about this. Please turn down the music and cater playlists to ALL ages.

The facility is great, but the customer service here is horrible. Their sales department is full of scammers and slimy salespeople that use shady sales tactics and deliberately lie and hide fees that won’t pop up until they charge your card later down the line. Sign up at your own risk.

I’ve been attending Gold’s Gym and found a reason to retain membership at this specific place when I happened upon Albert’s workout classes. To find out that he’s no longer teaching is discouraging. The classes had many participants so could see no reason why the classes were no longer offered. Gold’s gym, please think about rehiring this fantastic teacher!

Updated review March 9, 2024...My impression of Golds T.O. has turned around completely. I am leaving my old review for reference but it is completely no longer relevant.This gym offers a wide range of equipment, classes and facilities to serve all walks of life and levels of fitness. In no way do I, at 57 years old / overweight and getting back to a healthy lifestyle, feel self conscious or out of place. The staff is friendly, the equipment is clean and maintained and the locker room facilities are clean. Recently there was an issue with a door breaking in the mens steam room. When I inquired about when it would be fixed, the front desk manager was incredibly professional and service focused in their response.I highly recommend this gym for all as it has the ability to serve all.Old Review for Reference:Please dont go here. I am stuck in a pre-paid membership which was a HUGE mistake. They cant provide basic (I mean VERY BASIC) things like hot water and cleanliness. Yet they are focused on sending me an email 2-3x per day about how amazing the renovation is going, getting a new executive locker room (I guess executives dont like hot water when they shower) and giving you a bunch of double talk.When you inquire about when the hot water (again a very basic expectation) is going to work, you get a bunch of non-answers..even from the GM William.I understand having limited equipment while the renovation is going on and what the gym is expected to be when it is done. But really...focus on fixing the hot water issue (which has been going on for MONTHS) as a priority, then on things like replacing the lockers and renovating.Basics before enhancements...should be a simple thought but they dont get it.

Checking it out this gym. Only purpose is to take class and workout. Irene is my new favorite dance instructor in Hollywood location but here super love dance fusion ❤️👍. I like it because there are stores and food close to you. I was amazed with the outdoor workout as well. Its good for weekend workout. Women’s Lockers is fine but the cardio cinema is way better compared to other location. It is one hour drive and Lyft. Its worth it.

Officially a dump now!!!Way beyond super crowded. The popular machines are always taken, as they usually only have...ONE!!!Even the scale is now gone from the locker room. Perhaps they now want to charge extra for that amenity too???Additionally, enjoy the showers.You have to stand there for a few minutes in a small pool of stale water, as you wait for the water to slowly warm up. Very little water pressure, and the broken or missing tiles everywhere might cut your foot.This facility used to be a great one, but lately has been on a very steep decline. Lots of broken machines that dont get fixed, jacuzzi usually out of order and to my shock, no hot water the other day so I couldnt even shower after working out. Membership fees just went up too. I had to enquire at the front desk, as they didnt inform anyone, they just did it.How sad, such a large gym going to waste. Look elsewhere.

I regret joining this place. The staff, except for the friendly gentleman with curly hair at the front desk, were quite rude and seemed to lack proper training. The womens area had overflowing trash cans, and the new lockers were unclean. It appears their focus is primarily on sales; after signing up, the treatment I received was as if they were doing me a favor, often speaking with an air of arrogance. This establishment seems to prioritize revenue over quality service. I would advise others to stay away.

Terrible hours and business practices, better off saving money and driving to a different gym (yes even with expensive gas prices). They’ll also try to scam you into getting a monthly membership and brag about how they have “the best” equipment. (This was even before the renovations). I’ve been going here and gotta say I keep finding myself being disappointed, they tricked my friend into paying for a month subscription when he only wanted to redeem a free few days coupon. They also charged full price when they were doing renovations when 80% of the gym was closed off. They just want your money! Don’t fall for their “amenities”, they’re behind more paywalls.

Very bad experience today. There was a huge line of people at 7:20 in the morning, because they were late to open. Even then, the employee demanded that everyone scan their IDs, which made what shouldve been a good experience getting in a very annoying one. The place was quite unkempt, and a few pieces of equipment looked very old and some were out of order. I went upstairs hoping to find a lot of brand new equipment since they just added that floor, and found more of the same. Needless to say, I had a short workout since the mood was ruined and decided to jump in the jacuzzi to release some stress. To my further annoyance and shock, it was out of order!!!! No bubbles, the water was slightly warm. At this point I just left. If you want a good workout experience, go somewhere else. Avoid the frustration.

Ive been going here for about a year and its been a decent gym. A little rundown and the renovations have been a mess but it got the job done. I went to cancel my membership because Ive joined a specialty gym, and I was told to call a toll free number. No issue there, but when I called I was told that I would still be charged in a few weeks because I need to give them a 30 day notice. Total rip off to try and get more money out of me.

Terrible management/sales department. My son was gonna sign up on a sale, but when he tried to get the sales price, they removed it saying the price was only for a few hours, HOW UNETHICAL. Didn’t honor their own guest passes. Twice. Refused entry on guest pass for my younger son, saying he wasn’t 18, was turning in 3 months and had attended with me before on his own membership when even younger. BS really! They tried to raise my lifetime rate membership. I had to scan prior contracts. Send emails. What a pain! Happened twice since I signed up at Simi Golds 2011. Freezing pool, cardio cinema is nice when sound is on, sometimes volume off because wire broken, gym kinda dirty, they removed prior towel services, removed tissues in locker room, next will they remove T paper???I only go here since some of the group classes are good (despite often AC doesn’t work and instructors blast the music, as they are unchecked by management, any complaints is to deaf ears, management doesn’t really exist for the paying members) and I have some friends here. It’s mostly an older age range here, vs at Fitness 19.

Obviously everyone knows the sales people are going to lie to you but lying about very important stuff is a legal battle youre gonna lose especially since theres evidence. Dont go here. Its just a judgemental nightclub that tries to scam you. You pay extra for towels that are small and cheaply made, its always crowded, showers dirty, some people shower with the curtains open and thats really uncomfortable. You get assaulted by people in gross ways every visit too. Staff are rude except the sweet boy at the front in the AM. He is cool and awkward but I prefer that over a mean grumpy person who makes fun of people. Which is most of the staff.

I drove from Oxnard super excited to try the pool and I was very disappointed. Went to use the pool and it was ice cold as was the hot tub. My friend called to ask if we needed to do something to heat it and they told us the gas was out until Tuesday. Why didn’t they have sign ups or anything to notify the customer. Second we tried using the sauna and the door wouldn’t close completely, we went in for a few minutes and came out. As we came out a very rude later confronted telling us she was watching us for 5 minutes playing with the door and it’s supposed to be closed. I told her it doesn’t close completely and she went in and was experiencing the same thing. But the encounter was very rude. Lastly the tanning room, even though it says they provide the eye covers, they don’t. You also can’t turn it on yourself, you have to tell the front desk which we were not aware of. Overall, horrible experience we’ll stick to Oxnard and other gyms if we decide to travel.

Been meaning to leave this review for a while because I hate seeing all the negativity in these reviews. Golds has been my first gym where i’ve been consistent daily for nearly the past two years now. And i’ve never felt more comfortable, welcome, and at home then here in the TO Golds. The GM Will is awesome and super chill. It’s a great environment for anyone new or experienced to lifting especially for people who come to lift some real heavy weight. I love the raw experience here, and with the new downstairs and upstairs added i’d say it’s the nicest golds in so cal. i’ve met tons of super cool people over my time of being a member here and made lots of new friends. I highly recommend this gym if you just wanna work out without the bs. Love this Gym

I am visiting from out of town, and I wanted to work out at this gym. I called and asked what a temporary pass would cost, and the staff, who sounded like she was 13, told me a day pass costs $40. I have been to this gym before and it didnt cost $40. I understand liability, so $25 would be expensive but acceptable. $40? What a rip-off!

Oh dear, I just rejoined yesterday and there was no hot water, no pool, no jacuzzi, my main reason for joining. Now I read in the reviews that this hot water problem has been going on for months!! Is there really a commitment to actually fix the hot water?? I was told that repairs were underway. I wonder if I made a mistake?

Totally a great gym. I moved here after Athletic Society shut down, and its been just fine. I do go to other gyms in the area, but Golds never disappoints. It has what you need. Not at all overpriced. Tons of parking. And in a mall to boot! Just go.

Todays hours were supposedly 6am to 9pm. I was there at 5:30pm to find it closed. The other day I had a similar experience when on a Saturday I had to leave, as I waited until 7:20 and nobody opened it. Also, a lot of the machines are constantly out of order, and a few days ago I couldnt shower because there was no hot water. Lookelsewhere, this gym was a good one, but it became a dump.

I joined during a black Friday sale in 2021, and I liked it for a while. I would swim and use the elliptical. When they decided to raise the price by $3 (just after paying my annual fee), I decided it wasnt worth it anymore, as I didnt find any additional value in the gym.Edit: I should also mention that the constant problems with the hot water were a deciding factor.

I love this gym. For me the location is very convenient. I really enjoy the indoor pool, sauna/steam room. Free weights and the machines are top notch! I almost forgot you have to try the Cardio Cinema. Helpful staff and this gym is alway spotless. Lots of parking as well!

Go 4-5 times a week and rarely have to wait for equipment. However, their music is so loud that it over powers my noise cancelling ear buds. It appears that over 90% of the people wear headphones; not sure why music is so loud!

My biggest complaint with this gym is they do not post their holiday hours anywhere but on the front door. Even then its a very small notice on the window. This gym really should have an announcement on their phone system when you call, and their website. Also it isnt hard for a business to update their own business information on Google Maps and include their holiday hours. They are just lazy. I am sitting having dinner at the Jamms here on Labor Day watching countless gym members who got dressed for the gym just to realize it was closed.Do better Golds Thousand Oaks.

This is by far the worst gym to go to in the Thousand Oaks. It’s a filthy gym, I always go and it doesn’t seem to get enough cleaning and the people in the front desk definitely get upset over any negative criticism. It’s definitely not a golds gym to be excited about.

The hot water was out for over a month and about a month later the hot water is out again. The boilers are broken and staff has no estimation how long until its fixed. I just signed up at LAFitness..a new and clean facility. Much better atmosphere.

I have been a member at this gym for 12 and a half years. I have had several issues: people consistently occupy equipment to chat, make calls space out for 20 minutes, listen to their music all while occupying equipment other customers could use. Golds trainers reserve several machines at once! Which means paying members cannot use them!This is a small gym with limited numbers of equipment. Some members simply save machines while they walk away for ten minutes to chat or use the bathroom! They become irate if I or someone else rightfully assumes the machine is vacant. I have had to leave without completing my work out too many times because I do not have an hour to an hour and a half to wait around to make sure other members have a good leisurely visit.I have asked staff many times if signs could be posted about time limits on equipment. The response is always noI have on a half dozen occasions witnessed maintenance staff mopping gym floors with filthy black water...The stationary bikes in the cinema room have been out for over a month...The only reason I have kept my membership this long is the convenient location. I will be checking out the new LA Fitness in Newbury Park when it opens soon.

We’re getting to the time when you may be making New Year’s resolutions. One of which might be to join a gym. Don’t join this one. Really, don’t.Much of the equipment is not working consistently despite “management” being told about it. Indeed, the “manager” will look like he’s paying attention but he’s really asleep on his feet.They have been taunting a major expansion that was to be completed by the end of summer. Nope. In fact, there is no construction whatsoever; and they just raised the membership fees.Do yourself a favor: look elsewhere for your New Years Resolution to make yourself beautiful. Thanks.

This gym gets the job done. They have a wide variety of exercise machines, classes with great instructors, and a locker room for changing. There are little problems if you want to work out, change, and quickly leave.However, in my three years of membership, I have noticed occasional health/sanitation concerns, especially with their pool area. When COVID first started, their pool was over-chlorinated and bleached my bathing suit and completely dried out my hair. I later cut it because it was too brittle and dry. And recently their jacuzzi had an abundance of small pieces of hair and globs of a greyish-brown substance floating in their lukewarm water. It definitely was not clean and there werent any signs posted noting that it was closed for maintenance. Generally, the gym is good about cleanliness. At the end of the day, I see their workers mopping the floors, sanitizing the workout equipment, and cleaning the locker rooms. But sometimes there is neglect. I also got paronychia after a few weeks of using their workout mats. I wonder if those are sanitized...One of the reasons Im willing to pay so much for Golds Gym is because of the amenities. However, at this location, the sauna is rarely hot enough and the pool is very small. Other locations have more space and better saunas and steam rooms. I also had an annoying experience with a personal trainer when he told me I didnt have many goals because I wanted to improve my general fitness (strength, flexibility, balance, speed, and endurance).And finally, they play obnoxiously loud music. It seems unnecessary considering that most people have phones and headphones they can use if they want to listen to music, but its also distracting during the group yoga classes I take (despite the classes being in an enclosed room).In all, I go to this gym because of the location, the sauna, the wide variety of exercise machines, and to see the (totally awesome) group instructors. But it far from perfect. Sanitation and maintenance could be improved. And turning down (or turning off) the music would be appreciated.

I am now standing outside the gym. It should have opened 30 minutes ago. There are several people here waiting for the doors to open. I have experienced this many times with this gym. It happens with regularity, and always on the weekend. People get tired of waiting and leave one by one I will leave if the doors dont open in the next couple of minutes. This is an outrage and there is absolutely no excuse for such a pattern to exist!I posted the following awhile back. I saw temporary improvement after that, but it didnt last...I have no complaint regarding the equipment (there is a lot, and a wide variety) or the staff. The music is always too loud and pounding, pounding, POUNDING... I dont like to have my nerves rattled when I work out. Loud, raucous music does not energize me, but rather it drains me--and quickly. I do have complaints regarding the maintenance and cleanliness of the showers. There are only two showers with a shower head that pivots, as its supposed to. The others are immovable, due to calcium deposits, and none of the showers flow properly for the same reason. They thread terribly. I also find that the showers are not properly cleaned. I have been in there first thing after the gym opens, when the showers have not been used yet (they are all dry), and it is obvious that they have had no attention since the previous day. I have found hairs clinging to the walls and curtains. I have often seen the exact same hairs in the exact same places for days on end. I have found wads of hair in the drain. I find hair elastics over the faucet control that remain there for days. I have found bras and other garments hanging over shower curtain rods. I often find used Band Aids by the soap dispensers that also remain for days. I once found a used, rolled up panty liner (thats really too disgusting!) and, again, days passed before it was removed. All of this indicates that the showers are not being properly cleaned and maintained, which is very disturbing. The location is most convenient for me and I havent tried other gyms, but I keep thinking about canceling my membership, because I consider hygiene to be extremely important--especially now! I also do not appreciate that the mask mandate is not being enforced since it was reinstated, as it originally was. I definitely need to see improvements in this area, as its really unacceptable.

This gym is the absolute worst. I walked in day one and knew that this had to be the worst gym that I had ever walked into. Charging $25 a month and these guys have little to no equipment. Place bumpin music louder than my earbuds can go. Dont get me started on their customer service when it comes to refunds. They will Cancel it over the phone but actually charge you for 6 months and refuse to refund even 1 of those months. Absolute crooks, horrible management, horrible facilities. Go somewhere where you get great facilities for the same price with better management and staff.

I’ve called this gym four different times to refund and cancel my membership, and every time I called they said they would take care of it and never did. Within one month I got charged $350. Every time I called they said they would take care of it and refund me. It’s been four weeks and I’m still getting charged and they still haven’t cancelled my membership and refunded my money. Finally after a month of frustration a gentlemen named Issac (sales rep not even front desk) was very professional and apologetic. He said he would make sure to help me take care of it. I don’t want to be that guy to call and complain but it got the to the point to where I had to firmly tell them I’m very annoyed with there customer service.

HelloI have been a member at the Golds Gym In Thousand Oaks for the past 6 years and recently everytime I go there the volume of the music is so loud that it makes for a very stressful workout. Not only is the music loud, but there is no variety of the selection of the music. The other day I overheard a group of older gentleman complaining that the music is to loud and that they have complained countless times and nothing has been done about it. They said one of the only reasons they dont cancel their membership was that the price is affordable, or else they would have canceled. I myself was there the other day and I noticed many older people who looked very bothered by the selection of music and the volume. I have been to many other gyms in the past and not one Gym plays there music this loud.I have tried comparing to the manager at that location several times and all I hear is that they have no control over the music selection or the volume that its played at, they said it comes from corporate? I find that very hard to believe, basically they are saying corporate controls the volume at every Golds gym? It seems like that is one lame excuse not to deal with people.People go to the gym to relax for an hour or so a day to releive stress from their everyday life, the last thing we want is to become more stressed at the gym. There are also people out there who are sensitive to loud music and the way that this location has handled these complaints is simply unacceptable.I am asking you to please have a wider selection of music and to lower the volume, Im pretty sure the 80 year old grandma and grandpa do not want to come to the gym to listen to listen to horrible music at a loud volume. This gym only cares about money and not people! I joined the gym during a better phase of the pandemic and it was decent. However as cases surged and both the county and state implemented restrictions to require gyms to keep their patrons safe, Golds Gym has refused to comply and remained vague every time I asked how they were responding. They erected a tent outside but refused to move the equipment outside (like many others have, were in sunny SoCal!) once they realized the rules wouldnt be enforced. When I finally asked the manager, Irv, why they hadnt moved outside after a month, I was told they were fighting the orders in court and they preferred to stay inside where its warm. I joined this gym 5 years ago. I used to love going there. Since it has reopened after the pandemic apparently there is new management that thinks acid rock/headbanger music at top volume is enjoyable for everyone. I detest it. I have asked numerous times if they could turn it down only to be told that the manager demands it be at a certain high level. It affects my time there as I feel I am being assaulted with music I hate. I cannot turn up the volume on my headset high enough to block out their music. The gym used to be a refuge for me and I was looking forward to getting back into a routine. If the music policy does not change I will be finding a new gym. There are more options in the Conejo Valley than ever before.

Now we have people hogging the dressing room while they take selfies. The manager told a woman today that cameras were not allowed. This woman was young and mouthy. The manager left and as soon as she was out of sight, the woman started taking selfies again. So much for the clientele. So much for management. For those who have written before me, they have threatened to revoke my membership too because of a complaint they dont like. If management really cared about their loyal and good customers, they wouldnt send computer generated responses. Read the reviews. The responses are almost all the same. The only good review was from a prior employee. Believe what youre reading.

I tried but was unable to sign up at golds gym due their in ability to accommodate the short amount of time I would be here being relocated by the military and never had an an active contract them. Suddenly months later I realize I’ve been billed $80 every month having no contract with them. Now I’m having to fight automated callers all day to cancel a contract I never actually had. The new owner continues to ignore input from patrons. He has a small circle of elderly friends who enjoy swimming in a bathtub. They continue to keep the pool at 86 degrees or higher which is not standard for a lap pool. It should be 78 to 81 it is not enjoyable to swim in hot water, not to mention unhealthy. I wouldnt join this club if you were thinking about it.

Thanks for making things right.Terrible experience. Signed up for a membership before COVID closed all of the gyms then tried cancelling during the first 7 days. It was impossible to cancel so I finally sent a letter in the mail with no response. Continued to get billed so I cancelled the credit card. I’ve called the gym about 20+ times trying to get it figured out, spoke mostly with Oscar and recently with JD who said they would speak with the managers and get back to me but I never heard back. I’ve called asking to speak with the managers specifically and have been told every single time “she just stepped out”. After being sent to collections and paying $100 to cancel, I think it’s safe to say I will never recommend Golds Gym to anyone ever.

As with many other recent reviews concerning this Gym, I am disappointed with the loud annoying music. 95% of the people in this gym have chosen to listen to the music or podcast of their choice via head phones,. However, the loud pop / dance music targeted toward 12 year old girls makes it impossible to hear your own music, even with the head phones on the highest volume level. NO music is preferable to the music chosen by the Golds staff, especially at the volume they play it at.Today I cut my workout short and just left Golds. Tomorrow I will break from tradition and instead of going to Golds, I will visit other gyms in the area and observe the environment there. It may be time to move on.

If you join this gym you will be so screwed. My husband cancelled his membership on the 2nd of the month (mostly due to horrible customer service at the front desk and floor), and because he didnt cancel it on the 1st they are deducting two more months of the membership fee. If the person was the slightest bit decent they would have honored the close-to-30 day notice. They also have hundreds of terrible reviews on Yelp and Google and they dont seem to care. That alone speaks volumes to me.

I have my speakers on 95 dB and I still can’t hear my music. I’ve been writing to the owner for three months to turn the music down I’m starting to hate coming here. Plus the steam room was not turned on a single time in three months after my work out. I can’t even hear anything with my earphones on full blast.!! Update I have not been here in three months because the steam room has not gone on even once and I’m literally going deaf from the loud music I can’t hear my own music with my headphones on full blast. I have called and emailed until I’m blue in the face and now I’m charged $50 on my credit card in addition to my monthly fees for all of the stuff that’s keeping me from coming. I’m on the treadmill right now I thought I’d give it a try the steam room is not working and I can’t hear my music again I absolutely hate this place- this place is making me hate the gym- I have complained over and over nothing changesUpdate: I left the gym. They play the same movie in the cardio theatre 5 times a month although they have a large variety and I’ve offered to buy and donate dvd’s. They play Christmas movies over and over again after Christmas as well as depressing movies. To top it off, the sound has been broken and nothing has been done. The sound in the tanning booths has been broken for MONTHS and it’s an easy fix. For almost a year now 4 out of the 6 sinks in the womens bathroom do NOT work and the toilets flush themselves while you’re still sitting. This gym is a waste of money.

I’ve been a member for almost a year now and repeatedly left comment cards at the front desk asking management to update the class schedule. It’s been almost 4 months since my original complaint after showing up for a class that was cancelled but still on the schedule there haven’t been any changes. The front desk worker told me multiple people have complained but management does not care enough about its customers to update it. The golds gym employee was even frustrated about it!! This is a horrible way to treat customers and the reason why my spouse and I are probably going to switch gyms now that our one year contract is coming to an end.

Great gym, friendly staff, excellent trainers. Very nicely appointed, towel service, cardio cinema. I go there several times a week at different times of the day and have always been happy with the gym. Changed from 24 hour fitness where they would only fix equipment once a threshold of broken equipment was reached. Golds fixes equipment as soon as it breaks. Been there for two years and will renew for another two. Rob Godwin is my trainer, very knowledgeable and motivates you to succeed.

Enjoyed my time here but sadly seems like thats coming to an end. Been coming here for months with my husband and friends when my 14 year old son asked if he could get a membership as well. My husband and I thought it would be a nice gift but wanted to bring him in and show him the ropes, to make sure we werent getting a third membership if it wasnt going to be used.Unfortunately they have an odd Guest policy unlike any other gym Ive been a member of (LA Fitness, 24 Hour Fitness, Planet Fitness) which states that you must be at least 13 years old to have a membership but you have to be 18 years old to use a guest pass. So even though my husband and I have been paying members for months, our 14 year old son cannot workout with us even once as a guest, to see if he wants to become a member. It was explained that he either signs up with a membership today or he cannot use the facilities.They claim this is a legal / insurance issue but every other gym just asks that a parent or legal gaurdian over the age of 18 sign liability waiver for the guest and accompany them. This seems like an insanely better policy than pay for an extra membership now or cancel all of your memberships. Horrible business practice and a great way to lose paying members who otherwise would have been here for years.Will be looking into switching back to LA Fitness as soon as possible.

After having experienced a different local gym in the past, (I wont mention the name) I must say that this gym, Golds, is absolutely top notch. Always clean & maintained very well. It has every piece of equipment ever wanted/needed. A great long lap pool. A big hot tub/jacuzzi. Spinning room. Daily classes, FREE!Stylish wooden lockers in the locker/shower area. Only one area of improvement that would be nice here would be a larger, more spacious locker room. Space in the locker room gets a little cramped depending upon what time you visit, but, its manageable considering this is such an overall fabulous club/gym. Space is used for the essential part of the gym, so its understandable, especially considering this piece of real estate is located within an outdoor mall...the Janss Mall.The CARDIO THEATER is what I call an over-the-top awesome feature of this place. Its an indoor theater containing: 9 stationary bikes, 7 treadmills, & 7 elliptical machines all enabling a gym guest to view the movie of the day that continuously loops through the day. A new film each day. Its a great way to pass time while maintaining your fitness.The front desk staff have the friendly, hospitality of a 5 Diamond hotel, in my opinion. Everyone wants to enjoy life, be happy, & feel good, so, a perky, smiling, warm, greeting upon entering (& often upon leaving) is a positive contribution to a persons day!I hope my fellow Google Maps users find this review of value. Avoid signing up with this gym dont do it you will regret it. This place is such a scam along with the lazy employees that work at this location. The employees that I talked to are caught up in the make money only mindset. I wanted to cancel my membership, and no one wanted to help. I was given a card with a website that and a phone number that would not give me a route to cancel my membership. I went home and tried the phone number and website with no success. I returned to the location hoping to get assistance and only got the front desk employee to repeat what she told me the last time I asked for assistance. The manager takes me into the office and I ask if he would help me out with the process. He says it is not his responsibility to do this. I would think if they want people to return they would go above and beyond but that is not the case.

Im never disappointed at Golds because they deliver results. With there equipment and classes I lost 110 pounds and packed on 25 pounds of muscle. I like the types of equipment they have it gives you that bodybuilder look. Tylor reached out to me immediately after I opted into and online promo and Jay continued follow up promptly and via my preferred communication method. He was on time for our appointment and did everything to respect my time, understand my goals and provide me with the membership options I was looking for. Outrageous business practices given the current environment. The TO location was convenient to my place of work but not to my home. After I was restricted from attending my office by the Gov, I was no longer able to utilize the gym. I reported this to a Gym rep and let them know I would continue my membership after I was allowed to return to my office. I was told I would be contacted by a Golds representative to work something out but found out that I have been referred to a collection agency. Way to be part of the community during a tough time Golds Gym. I will be getting the word out about your irresponsible business practices on multiple platforms. Very shady gym/ business. I froze my account before beginning a deployment with the military. They continue to charge me several months so I call, three times to be exact, trying to arrange a refund. They are no help on their end at all levels. So I call the people who handle their accounting, an outside company, who proceeds to ask for proof to verify my prior requests. I then receive an email saying there will be no refund but my account could be cancel, so I cancel and get a confirmation. THEY THEN CHANGE THE NAME ON THE ACCOUNT AND CONTINUE CHARGING ME. This gym is very crowded. Management does not require members to wear masks (as required by Ventura County effective August 20,2021), so very few members wear them. Many studies show that masks are far more effective when worn by the infected person, rather than the person trying to stay healthy.This is a good place to catch COVID! So they decide to harass me daily with calls, call my phone number daily. I call back, make a note and tell management to take me off their list. Instead of fixing the issue, this was all two ladies wanted to talk about. NO SIR, you have a $20 late fee, we need cash or immediate payment, you need to come down to our office. So when my credit card arrived a day later, I drove down to the gym, filled out a one page document. Please cancel immediately. Not interested in returning until this company learns some common decency towards paying clients.

I am an original member, so 15 years. It has been mostly very affordable as a result.I have asked 4 or 5 times to have the machines worked on, the audio and video on many machines are really bad. Some havent worked for months. I never get any feedback. Very unprofessional. The mgnt here clearly cares about one thing, pressuring people to buy personal training hours. They get the females by making them feel bad about themselves. Very unethical high pressure sales. Every 2 year renewal it is the same thing, the mgnt guy who would never look at you or remember your name, all of a sudden is going to do you a favor and let you join again.The gym etiquette is really poor. People linger and camp on stations and machines when the place is extremely busy. Some people sprawl all their stuff and consume a lot of space.The cardio theatre has had poor audio quality since the day they put it in. You cant hear half of what is said in a movie in there and the video screen resolution isnt very good either.They do have some very good instructors and some good classes and the equipment is what you would expect. Unfortunately the mgnt treats them really badly, like commodities.Also the mens changing area is too small and the showers are in bad need of repair.It is well past time for me to move to a new gym.

Ive been working out at this gym for 2 years. Before that I had a membership at 24 hr fitness in T.O. I prefer Golds because it is cleaner and the machines are newer. Most of the staff are pretty friendly. I like that they have a towel service. The cardio cinema room is nice when you want to do your cardio and watch a movie at the same time.

While this place isn’t terrible, it does leave much to be desired. For example, for as long as I have been a member (over a year at least) the four stationary bikes at the front have not worked to one degree or another. One doesn’t work at all. Complaints to management go unheeded ( “management” is nonexistent and very unfriendly) with the same excuses I’ve heard for months.I think there are other facilities that might be worth a look…

I trained with Xander and he was really great! Very knowledgeable and doesnt rush the process. I definitely reccomend! All in all, the entire staff is very friendly here and I LOVE the indoor pool area.

Nobody has the authority to make a decision or the person that does is never their. They have been charging me for months on my account that was frozen. Dont waste your time on customer service because you wont get any results. Also every time I spoke with someone to try to resolve this matter that person would leave and someone new would be there. I guess turnover is a big problem. You cant get anything resolved because theres always a new person to deal with. Tried several times always a different story from Golds employees on what I need to do.

This place is ridiculous, Matt the fitness consultant here refused to honor a groupon i just purchased claiming that my i.d. needs to have a local address. I explained to this brain surgeon that i just moved here and can show him mail i just received (to validate this) with my local address, And he told me this is not exceptable. I purchased a membership! Ive never had a business refuse to take my money. Unbelievable! Its a good thing there is an abundance of gyms in the erea, apparently this one doesnt like to make money. Or perhaps they need to train their employees better in the art of common sense.

They charged me for a month during the pandemic. I told them I couldn’t go because I lost my job and am at high risk of covid. They refused to give me a refund and also demanded $100 to cancel my membership. They are rude and do not care about their members. I will never be returning to this dirty gym.

Man I wish I could give this spot a big fat 0 on stars. I have been lifting weights for over half my life(15 years or so) I have never really had an issue with this place until today. First of all the leg area was closed for about an hour this morning for cleaning . Then when doing my personal record deadlift, I was approached by a trainer who couldn’t help but bug me about the weight and how heavy it was and bad for me. What a joke. After that I was doing box jumps when the “Lead maintenance” guy got all up on me about using chalk in the gym. So you are going to complain at me about doing your job? I have never been so frustrated with a gym in my life. Time to go back to the old school powerlifting spots if this bs continues.

I chose Golds Gym for the beautiful pool. Although it has only six lanes, I have always been able to access one to swim laps--no matter what time of day I arrive. Clean and well organized!

I liked the gym when I went there for a few years, now Ive moved away. Can get extremely crowded during after work rush hour and they probably need an expansion. A lot of people apparently refuse to read or abide by the basic terms of their annual membership contract and then cry.

The gym is very nice but, the sales people there are pushy . You sign in with a coupon or Groupon and they sit with you for 3 hours sale you membership without giving you the chance to try the place first. Asking some weird questions and do not let go. It made me feel very uncomfortable.

I recently visited as a hotel guest member. Easy sign in process and front desk associates were nice. Gym is like an Express location as its much smaller than a normal Golds. Some machines theres only one of them. Bathroom was clean

Great place to go and exercise and get fit. Very spacious gym and friendly staff. There are a variety of fitness classes available to choose from during the day. All equipment is well maintained and clean.

Tried to use a 30 day pass, mailed to me ..to encourage a friend to go regularly. The kids at the front desk said that since I was telling them I had no intention to join before experiencing the facility, & having been told to come sit at a desk.. they wouldnt be able to issue a pass. Worse than car sales..you dont walk into a gym, to expect to sit.

This company is terrible! Given the global pandemic, they didnt offer options for those who may have pre-exisiting conditions, pregnancy, elderly or other issues that were fearful of contracting COVID-19. Instead, they would much rather keep your money and tell you to take a hike. Never in a million year would I expect a place that champions health and wellness, to not care about ones health that could be life threatening. Never going back and be forewarned if you wish to join.

Great gym. clean and have good machines. Very friendly staff. I wish their dumbbells went a little heavier and they had the right stand for the heavy dumbbells but that’s just knit picking. Love this gym.

Great gym. I was a member back in 2008 and all of the equipment has been extremely well maintained. Highly recommend this gym for its equipment and atmosphere. Definitely a must visit for a hardcore lifting enthusiast 👍👌

In the past 8 months, they have taken out additional funds from my account on three separate occasions, totalling almost $400.00When you call to speak to a manager, they are never around or return phone calls. They dont have a billing department. If you finally get some where with an employee the reversal of charges is stopped and management will say the employee was mis-informed. They have done nothing in terms of customer service or customer retention.They are very quick to take out the charges and incredibly slow at crediting your account back. Nothing short of theives.

I have been a member for going on Ten years now and recently found out that Golds of T.O were signing up new people for a much better deal than i got almost a deacade ago. So i went in to talk with a salesperson and in a nice and professional way was told they could not match the deal that i was told about. He didnt deny that deal was made he just told me he could not do the same for me. So rather then go from what i was paying to a lower amount they went from what i was paying to zero. Can someone please tell me how that makes any sense. The new person didnt have to sign a contract so the odds on that person staying at the gym for many years is doubtful, but they have no problem letting go of someones buisness who has been paying them for 10 years, and who will now pay a new gym. Great buisness plan Golds!!!

I placed my account on hold during the winter due to my schedule. They promised to charge me $12 per month during the hold. I check back 3 months later and they acknowledge the hold but continued to call me everyday stating I owed hundreds.I actually had to sue Oxnard golds because they would not close my account. All we wanted to do was cancel a membership which led to oh we cant do that on the phone, you have to come in yourself. Oh we cant do it, a manager has to do it. Equipment old/rusted. Lots of loud squeaking on machines and grips. Music is bad and it plays annoying ads constantly over the loud speaker. Other than that, it has a great diversity of equipment and isn’t too crowded in the mornings. Needs smaller dumbbells such as 7.5 and 12.5s.

I brought my 15 year old to work out with me and the reception desk told me he had to be 18. But if we wanted to open a membership for him, then he could enter. If you can pay, you can guest. I paid for the membership and for training lessons and I have not had any lessonsIve been with the membership for two weeks and the coach told me that he cant help me they didnt give me another coach nor did they solve anything I thought they would have flexibility to give lessons but they are very poorly organized and are not interested in providing the service they offerI paid a lot for them to explain exercises and everything but they havent helped me at all, they dont want to refund what I paythe gym is well equipped but they need personal trainers and good organization in the schedules for those who pay for it

I wanted to apply for a membership card and pay the fee, but I wanted to go restroom first, and then I was going to pay the fee. The staff(a sales with black hair look like 54)dont let me went to the restroom and said that the restroom is membership use only! I said I Will definitely apply for a card and pay today! The staff still refused, and the attitude is very evil!!!!I originally wanted to apply for a card and pay the fee, but I wanted to go to the restroom first and then immediately apply for the card and pay the fee. The staff refused to allow me to go to the restroom first, saying that I must be a member to enter. But I was in a hurry to go to the toilet, and I would definitely apply for a card after going to the toilet. The service staff refused and had a very bad attitude! !!!I will never go there! because of the bad service!!

Perfect for me. One month for $30 (Is an offer). Not the most modern but ideal for the price. A mix of old and new equipment with a small “spa” area. Sufficient for a short sauna stay or relaxing in the whirlpool. It was definitely worth it.
