On my second pair of hearing aids through Gold Country and always satisfied, but my last visit was “over the top” great. I met their new doctor, Kortney Mathiesen, and she is amazing! Kortney is very professional, knowledgeable, friendly, and very considerate. She “gets” what it’s like to not hear well, (it gets old asking folks to repeat what they said and easier sometimes to just nod). She figured out quickly how to best communicate so I didn’t have that feeling. Most importantly, she explained in detail what was going on and what to expect. Courtney addressed my fit problem and lined up a return visit to check on me. When the office staff scheduled my appointment, I made sure it was with Cortney, and as long as she is there, Cortney is who I want working with my hearing.Don’t get me wrong- I have been with Gold Country Hearing now for about eight years, and their entire staff is, and has always been awesome. Things just got better with the hiring of a new superstar! Thanks Gold Country for everything!!!!

A week ago I met with a pleasant young girl who had matching clothes and fingernails. Her name started with an S and was unusual. She looked at my hearing aids and kept them for further checking and gave me a pair of replacement hearing aids with a charger for them. (I had to call back the next day as I had charged them incorrectly). She said I needed to decide whether to ask for new ones or pay $300 or $500 to extend the current warranty by March 8 (?) if I keep the ones I have. I am to get another appointment when my pair are returned. In the meantime I got an email from Gold Country to come in for a ear checkup, so I will try to make those two appointments at the same time. She also discovered that I have an insurance that will help pay for new ones.

Today I visited Gold Country Hearing for my semi annual checkup. I was greeted warmly by the staff. I was introduced to the audiologist who I had not seen before and was very pleased with her efforts. She cleaned my ears with a high degree of care and updated my hearing aids to the latest firmware version. She definitely was interested in any concerns I had and I would again recommend GCH for your hearing needs.

My review is for 2 companies merging into one! Audiology Associates and Gold Country Hearing and Balance! I have had my hearing aids for 2 weeks now and initially had my hearing test done with Dr Sol Barros who was professional, friendly and super helpful! I asked all the difficult questions regarding obtaining hearing aids from Costco or online companies vs an audiologist. After checking with folks who have done it both ways I went back to getting them from an audiologist. So when returning, I was greeted and helped by Dr Matheson who fitted me with a great pair of hearing aids and answered all of my questions. Everybody in the office was super friendly and helpful. I certainly recommend them!

Everything about this place is terrific. Clean, modern, welcoming, professional. Digital communication (texts, videos, etc.) make it very convenient. I saw the results and trust the advice I was given, which is that I would hear better with hearing aids. The only reason I knocked off a star is partly my own doing. After the shock of realizing I need hearing aids, I said, I want the best kind, the most expensive. The audiologist presented a laminated card showing four price levels, and pointed at the highest one (which Id said I wanted). I think I asked a vague question about the differences between levels, and she gave a general answer about technology and features. Between that initial appointment and my fitting (tomorrow), I realized I would have liked a more detailed explanation of the four levels and prices, despite have said I want the best. Maybe I dont need the best? I will bring this up tomorrow and I feel secure that I will be satisfied with the resolution of my situation. (And I think she said Id have 45 days to try out the ones they give me.) So overall, I think its a 5-star business and I gave myself a 4-star experience by not asking for a complete explanation of the available options and prices.

I love my new hearing aids. For the first time in over 20 years my husband can set the volume on the TV at the level he likes, and I’m getting the sound at my own volume directly into my ears. This makes us both happy.After pairing my hearing aids with my cell phone, I understand incoming calls much better than ever before. And with a bonus: I can talk and listen without holding the phone to my ear and without using the cell phone’s speaker. It’s nifty.The new technology packed into these tiny hearing aids is amazing.Im a long time Gold Country patient. Ive been using Gold Country Hearing as my audiologists for over three years. They do everything I need. When I first went there Dr. Bonney let me experiment with several brands and types of hearing aids. It was invaluable. They have multiple audiologists who understand how to work with Lyric hearing aids, which I use and which are fabulous but finicky. When Ive needed to be seen off-hours or in a different office they arrange it. Great folks, and extremely competent and knowledgeable.Added a few months later: still a great experience. For various reasons it would be more convenient for me to use an audiologist in the Bay Area but I’m not going to switch.

I recently went to Gold Country Hearing to have my hearing levels checked. It was a friendly, inviting office and they did a good job of making me feel comfortable. The waiting room was comfy but I was seen promptly, my hearing tested, directions were clear and results were explained. The people are pleasant and helpful, taking the time to address issues. I think it would be better when dealing with hearing-challenged people to not wear masks when speaking to them. I have been so happy with my experience at Gold Country Hearing. I realized I was missing a lot of other peoples comments to me. I went in for a hearing evaluation and found that my hearing had gotten worse since my last hearing test. Its so nice to have a Doctor of Audiology as a clinician and hearing expert. Results were explained in a clear, easy to understand session. I was allowed to use some demonstration aids for a test run. Wow! I heard things that I didnt know were there! What a difference! With the recent research linking hearing loss and dementia, it was an easy decision. I will have my permanent devices in a week or so!
