I love using GoGuardian in my classroom. I am provided an easy way to monitor my students browsing activities in my class. I am able to keep a record of all timelines, take screenshots of their work, and chat with them to help answer questions. Great tool!
I love having the ability to easily monitor my students use on their Chromebooks. Additionally being able to control where they go on the internet helps. The software is very user friendly to setup and use!
Im the technology coordinator for a small school and I dont know what Id do without GoGuardian! Their software helps me protect our students by monitoring and filtering their online activity. And Ive tracked down several missing Chromebooks by using their tracking feature. Their support staff is always available through a chat interface. I never fail to receive fast and EXCELLENT service whenever I have a problem.
GoGuardian allows administrators to monitor and filter any Google powered device. The primary purpose is to keep students on track. But it also serves other purposes such as: catching warning signs, potential threats, and tracking missing devices. From an administrator’s perspective, I can see why this program does justice. You have the ability to keep everything under control to limit any mistakes.There is even a mode of the program, Beacon, that specifically looks for struggling students. It searches for students that may be contemplating suicide or self-harm and seeks the help they need. This program keeps students, parents, and schools in a loop to put students first. Which is something I applaud, as paying attention to so many students can be difficult.On the other hand, through a students perspective, GoGuardian is downright disturbing and overpoweringly invasive even after school hours. While the district can block educationally disturbing websites, they also have the ability to watch screens, open tabs, and lock computers even after the dismissal bell. While some argue that this is for safety, it is also seen as a lack of trust. It is unfair to not allow students to use the device as a personal tool.But, if they’re for the student to use, then why is it being so strictly controlled? Especially for students where this may be their only access to the internet at home, the purpose of the new device becomes convoluted.Teachers are on two different wavelengths in terms of liking and disliking the program. While it has its perks, it causes inconvenience when teachers have to monitor and lock screens. Sometimes teachers forget to unlock screens, preventing students from being able to do their work. Causing them to fall behind. Some teachers forgot to remove restrictions during the fall break which prohibited students from accessing other assignments, websites, etc.I think this is a program, when done correctly and fairly between both students and teachers, can be beneficial. But it only works when both parties participate and are open. A policy should be put in place that teachers should not block or monitor students on Go Guardian after school hours. Students shouldn’t feel like “Big Brother” is always watching.Recently, at a Woodbridge Township Board of Education meeting, students from Woodbridge High School and John F. Kennedy High School voiced their issues with Go Guardian as an invasion of privacy. Nothing was put in place to address the student’s complaints after the Board meeting. So, it is up to the teacher to establish and respect boundaries with their students until the District establishes some rules.
So far so good... were happy to have a tool that allows us the ability to provide Chromebooks to our students with the peace of mind that they are being directed towards educationally appropriate content. The ability to view historical information is great; the metrics on usage, top videos, documents, sites - thats the cherry on top. Frequent updates have this tool standing as the current King of the Hill in chromebook filtering. Great work!
Great tool for the classroom. It helps me keep my students focused. I can close tabs, lock computers, and I can send students to specific sites. And it is pretty easy to use.

With their new Scene feature, I am able to prevent students from accessing specific sites during my class period making our use of the Chromebook and internet more effective and safer. I love using GoGuardian with my middle school students. It keeps them honest about what they are using their Chromebooks for and helps me keep them safe. The scene option and number of pages option are very helpful if a class is squirrely.
I love GoGuardian and use it daily in class. Its a quick easy way to hold the students accountable. I also enjoy using the scenes setting during tests and article review assignments.
I have only been using GoGuardian in the classroom for 2 months now and Im really impressed. I like knowing that my students are on task while working with my small groups without leaving my station to walk around the room. I look forward to seeing what else I can do with GoGuardian.
It is a great app to be able to see what is on the screen of an adolescent and be able to control what they can or cannot see. I highly recommend this for schools to put in place because it would really help the teacher stay on top of their students work and research.
GoGuardian has been a wonderful addition to our tech tools as we went to 1:1 with Chromebooks. Teachers are more confident in the use of the computers since GoGuardian allows for better oversight of the students computer use.

GoGuardian is a fantastic tool for keeping the bad stuff out of the hands of our students and allowing teachers the ability to use technology in the classroom, without having to worry about students abusing said technology. I only give four stars because there are a few QoL changes that have been made in 2.0 for the worse. When those are ironed out i will certainly adjust my review accordingly. If I could give 4.75 stars i would.
Honestly, this is the worst thing Ive ever heard in existence. The admins literally watch you with no respect for every students privacy, shaking my head, even from your webcam on a students Chromebook. (I dont even know if its true, but I heard some rumors about it.) Its really disrespectful that admins watch you from your Chromebook because this reminds me of someones girlfriend looking at your search history, because this shouldnt even exist at all.Teachers, if you think that invading privacy of students is a good thing, I wouldnt think so because privacy online should at least be respected and not invaded.
This is by far the dumbest software that has ever been invented.The teachers got no respect for your privacy and they spy on you or monitor you,sereously teachers, where is the trust,if you cant trust us,then how can you expect us to trust you. They can even monitor you through the chromebooks webcam which totally invades your privacy.If I were to give it negative stars, I would.
Go Guardian has created a safety net for our students as they learn to become positive digital citizens. Go Guardian allows for our devices to be tracked in Fleet and monitored in case of theft. It really is a great product.
I can honestly say that GoGuardian was one of the best decisions our school has ever made. When we started our 1:1 program in 2013, we did the research, visited other schools but of course another prepares you for the real deal. Only 3 months into the program we had a small situation that caused us to search for programs to help. Right away GoGuardian popped up in listservs and my tech forums. We decided to make the leap and have been happy ever since. Its great to know that someone is always looking after our students.

Goguardian is abused by teachers. From blocking the site you need to DO your work to tab limits that close tabs that you need for the next class. Absolutely terrible.

This company acts like they care about the students who have to suffer through it, but they are really just spying. This is an unsafe and a huge violation to all persons who are subject to it. I give this product a strong 0 out of 10, and the teachers who are required to use it dont even know how to use it.For administrations who are considering implementing this product at their schools: DO NOT DO IT

Students become aware that the classroom teacher has direct feedback from their GoGuardian dashboard as to what the students are doing with their tech time and when they are off topic in their searches and Chromebook use. There are also flagged alerts that go to the Admins to determine if the student is searching an inappropriate site or content. Great support.

2023-01-27 00:37:40Mediocre. Switch to securly. Been using GoGuardian for 5 years, after switching to Securly, bypassing has reduced GREATLY. Ive also noticed that students feel that Securly is generally better, giving a REASON why the website is blocked. GoGuardian is bad and Securly is a better option any day.

Monitoring my students while deterring them from drifting off task has never been easier. Im still exploring all of the features and need to learn more about how to limit student access to certain sites while still allowing full use of others.

2017-10-03 21:24:21GoGaurdian is a useful application. It is unfortunate that it only works with google. If the students are NOT logged into google, you cannot keep track of them.
