So many books, manga volumes, DVDs & CDs displaying at the Glendale Central Library. I really like it very much. So many people visiting, reading books newspapers even studying on the computer. I play Metal Slug online for free such fun. Watch out for homeless people. (Smells bad) The restroom looks clean safe area security patroling The librarians are so friendly!! Highly recommend!! Easy parking lot of course!! Outstanding!!

The Shepard Fairey show was great. The prints in the hallway were nice and the gallery seemed to have more recent works. Great collage on panel and paper with some actual silk screens and a documentary rolling in the background.I like Shepard Faireys work. I particularly love his use of distressed and weathered surfaces, which I think was most successful in the work on paper.Seeing his work in a truly public space like a library inspired hope in and of itself. His work is democratic and egalitarian. How apropos.

Quiet and relaxing place to read all kinds of different books! Another way to grow in knowledge and learn new things. People are very kind and amazing. Beautiful people all around. Lovely environment! Glass windows for nice views. Some homeless people but I don’t judge. At the end we are human and treat each with love !

Dude, this place has a decent selection of books, movies, manga, and more. Theyre constantly hosting events. And the staff is really cool. As a Glendale resident, this is always a place I stopped by to enjoy the benefits of being a Glendale library card holder. Because of its size, you can really find your own nook for cranny to settle down into to study, read, or learn something new. They also have an area to work off of 3D printers, sewing machines, Mac desktops so that you can really focus on projects or various activities. Definitely a place to go to. You also get parking validation in the parking garage across the street which is awesome.

This library has an excellent selection of books, and the location is great. Also, aside from some homeless outbursts where the guard tends to hide or never be present, it is pretty quiet (considering the size and number of people there). They utilize the gallery space to show different aspects of history and art. The Brand really is the place to go for a full curated gallery experience. Still, you can get a bit of culture here as well.The drawbacks are around a 60/40 ratio (my guesstimation) of homeless and they bring a lot of their things in with them. This creates a very smelly and unsanitary environment. The library also allows the homeless to quite literally sprawl out with their feet up on more of the open places in the front end of the library. I dont need to tell you to sanitize anywhere you choose to work. Bring your own sanitizer because there only one dispenser by the bathroom. I have only seen one guard and she is never around when one of the patrons loses their temper and starts screaming and sometimes swearing about this and that. The guard is always on their phone sitting and giving rude looks to people Also, I was studying with a friend and someone was talking on the phone for over twenty minutes so we asked her to tell the patron to keep it down. She was just sitting and did nothing for at least five minutes after we complained. Maybe with someone actually walking around and doing their job would be a better environment. I have no idea why guards are there if they dont walk around and keep the place in order?! Due to ineptitude, you have people doing all sorts of things. I was there once on a weekend trying to study and a guy was doing something illegal. I look up to see police hauling him off. This library needs to do better. I only drop in once a week or less but they need to reconfigure the rules to not allow people to sleep there. You should be at the library to work, learn, read, or leave. There are places for the homeless to sleep and the public library should not be one of them.

I have not been to the library in 15 years. The entrance is changed from Louise side to Harvard. A lot of books were gone on the first floor and there were tables there instead please depart socially distance which was nice. I took the elevator up to the second floor for special collections. Annie was very helpful and gathered all the materials I needed to help me do my research and answer any questions that I had. The library was very quiet and clean. It was a pleasant experience

I love this library - it’s large, clean, and the librarians are always kind and helpful. While some reviewers are upset about homeless people being welcome in the library, I actually appreciate that the library is accessible to all Glendale residents regardless of housing status or appearance. You’ll only be asked to leave if you are being unsafe or keeping other patrons from using the library…being homeless and/or taking a nap doesn’t count as a disturbance. There seems to always be a security guard present if safety does become an issue. I only knock one star off because you will be sent to collections if you are excessively late to return a library book. Fair enough, but feels a little punitive and outdated compared to the late fee policies of other libraries these days. I would also love if GLAC came with access to Libby - they have other ways to access digital material but Libby is my favorite digital library app I’ve used.

Went for the celebration of Dia De Los Muertos and as you can see in the photos they had crafting for the kids, mask decorating and the environment was welcoming. They also had kids playing rock music outdoors. Over all an excellent experience

Fantastic facility! Super friendly, experience customer service, this lady at front desk helped me with returning if couple of books. She didn’t want her name to be mentioned, very knowledgeable, patient and considerate. New remodeling has brought a fresh modern look. Beautifully done. Wonderful job from City if Glendale.

The remodeled library looks. Great! They offer so many free workshops as well. So many books and everyone is very friendly. It is usually pretty packed but it is great for kids and adults. There is free parking and alot of times they have events in the parking lot but there is so many nearby places to park. The Glendale galleria and Americana are within walking distance.

Remodeled and reopened in 2017 The Downtown Central Library is an amazing place to research and study in solitude or with a group. The structure is light and airy which gives you a great sense of openness. There is an abundance of materials to choose from including music CDs, books on CDs, maps, of course books and anything you would need to research whatever topic it is you are researching. There is ample space to sit down at a desk or an individual booth and they have conference rooms if you and your group need privacy. There are computers available too. The staff is extremely helpful and super friendly.

Quiet place with plenty of cubbies, tables and chairs. Fast, free internet and some computers for public use. I came here a couple of times to have work done. There are activities for kids and teens during the weekends. It’s worth checking out.Caveat is that parking is limited to 2 hours. Better park your car in the nearby mall parking building.

Its nice other than two employees, an African woman & an elderly white woman, who like to tag team harassment to patrons. The African woman started by trying to lie about no food inside when there are multiple posters saying otherwise. At another time, the first of the tag teams, she asked me to move a chair so I went to do so then the old woman told me not to move furniture while the African woman was standing right next to me saying different things, move the chair & dont move the furniture, the chair. At this point they just have a problem. Maybe an authority thing. Regardless basically everything else about the library is fine.

Modern architecture makes me feel safe. Clean beautiful open layout. Anything I want is easy to find here. Diversity in selections and current events. The staff is knowledgeable helpful respectful and friendly. The homeless community will come in but they show respect as they are respected here. I appreciate the ability to self checkout and the easy access to return books. Parking is easily accessible in the secured bldg across the street with validation or in the library’s clean parking lot. I prefer to read in my car since the pandemic. They have security and nearby restaurants or coffee bars.

Horrible experience at the front desk. I had a book on hold and got a notification in my email earlier in the week so I went in. I have had a book on hold only once before, so I assumed it would be behind the front desk like the time before. I approach the desk and before I even finish my question this guy who looks like a either a prison guard or a mobster points at the holds section and shoes me away. I have never had this kind of attitude from a libriran before so i didnt even react and went straight looking for my book... and it turns out it was not on the holds section... I was very confused and focused at the moment that i didnt realize the same guy was yelling at me from across the room hey buddy, come over here! the guy bekons me with a finger as if i am his subserviant i approach... turns out because the book title included profanity, or that I have came too early, the book was indeed behind the desk... so this guy made me feel stupid for his own omission... he was terse and annoyed with me the whole time and ignored a question i asked... he was also implying that I was bad at hearing or do not understand English with his passing passive aggressive comments... terrible experience all in all. especially because you dont have all the social guards up when youre just picking up a book from a library not going into mcdonalds to get hambergers when this sort of thing may or may not happen... god only know how the disadvantaged citizens are treated here.... I just want to read the books do not wanna interact with lazy government workers who are there for a slack labor paycheck

The library is in a great location and clean however.. I had a need to get on a computer and all you see is homeless people on the computers, and smell the stench of their body odor and nobody does anything about it.. omg I mean it smelled disgusting! I had to leave it was so so bad. The library has benefits of computer use, printing something in a pinch but we should not have to smell the homeless or have to sit next to sleeping homeless people in the library. Something has to be done!

Big and spacious library. Very open. Can get crowded but you can generally find a spot to sit or a cubby to read in (though it seems in recent years theyve eliminated some of the seats). The lobby area is generally clean (sorry, had to say it) and the bathrooms too. Generally well staffed so if you have a question or issue it shouldnt too hard to find help. I like that the book hold area is up front and easy to get to if all you are doing is running it to grab a book. Lots of self-serve checkout machines too. Parking is hard on ok y if you try to park out front. But do know that you can park for three hours in the adjacent structure (with validation) and there are always spots there

There are some amazing benefits to this library including location, hours (since reopening from the lockdown), great selection of books and a budget to constantly be getting new books, lots of places to sit, filtered water (really the top two best reasons to visit if you consume a lot of water). The negatives are the guards. They just stand around the main room (with librarians) and use their phones. Meanwhile, people are talking like they are at a party, yelling online, singing (yes, there is mental illness in droves at this facility), people haul in all their nonsense including large multi-screens to play video games instead of leaving their non-work related items outside, People have been cooking food, and a whole host of crazy behaviors that should not exist in ANY library. I would give the library five stars but because of the lazy security, patrons with no hygiene, and homeless people, this place goes down various notches. Hot tip: Avoid the homeless by going upstairs.

Glendale central library is its own independent city library thats not part of Los Angeles public library system or Los Angeles county library system. The library is nice and clean i like this library for computer use because they have state of the art big flat screen desktop monitors and this library gives you 1 dollars worth of credit for printing somthing that lapl libraries dont have.

This used to be a great library. Its too many homeless people that hang out there now. Dont get me wrong, I HAVE NOTHING AGAINST HOMELESS PEOPLE but I do have a problem with people that are loud, screaming and inconsiderate of others and the homeless people that are there are usually loud and inconsiderate of others.

Be The Change. Inclusivity. Equity.These will only stay nice ideas if you dont stand by them yourself. What does it mean to be the change? If you arent willing to change yourselves, be inclusive or support equity?Everyone has a space in the library... everyone except us. As a family with special needs young adults we face challenges in public spaces everyday. Today reading illustrated books seemed like a wonderful idea. We walked to the library, marveled at some of the inclusive art on the walls. Visual media and art has always been something we love as a family, and after we each pick out a picture book for me to read aloud we were interrupted and told we cant be here. Reading out loud animatedly to them is how they enjoy their books. I understand the library to be a quiet place of study for adults, so the children section where noise isnt as much of an issue seemed like the best place. When I ask where I am allowed to read these books aloud Im told we can sit in the hallway... Not in any room, not somewhere we are allowed to feel comfortable or included with everyone else, no...the place we are designated is a place that doesnt belong to anyone, halfway out of the library, because of who we are.After finishing our books they wanted to leave. We enjoyed very little time here, the first half spent worried wed be kick-out by security the later half being looked at by people walking to and from the first and second floors. Do I understand the reason for all this. Yes, its the same reason at every other public venue. While my family might be kids at heart and mind, they occupy adult bodies. While they may posses an eternal innocence, theyre appearance betrays them. And thats okay, we unfortunately accept it as the status quo. However, it doesnt prevent the disappointment in their eyes, the discomfort, nor the judgement of others.Inclusivity is a long battle, and all I hope and ask for is a little empathy. To ask yourselves how youd like to be treated. To make small exceptions to rules that were never meant to target specific individuals. And to understand the greater meaning behind being an inclusive public safe space.

Omg this library is huge! Its beautiful and clean and well laid out. Non-fiction and new releases are on the first floor, with a teen/YA section off to the side, and fiction books are on the second floor. I came in hoping to find one or two books to get me through the week, and came out with 5! Most of their books are hardback, too, which is lovely, and they all seem to be in great condition. Plus if your books arent requested by any other people while you have them, they will automatically renew your lease on them up to 3 times, so they wont become overdue so quickly! They have kiosks for checking out books too, but there was never a queue and the service desk was super helpful.

Such a great local resource, we are truly blessed with this Library. It is busy after school. There is a security presence, plenty of computers and Macs, access to high quality, inexpensive printing and scanning. Hi quality image reproduction workstation. Bring your USB. I am a little curious as to why the meditation room centers around the European experience instead of an ode to our Citys history, which is interesting and rich. It is alarming to have City buildings, public library wings - the train depot - renamed after people who are largely unknown to this part of the world. Its great to learn about your neighbors culture, but not great to have yours painted over.

Free 3 Hour ParkingFree WifiLoads of study space with charging units in abundanceand best of all no crazies???Although theres some renovation occurring with the library its still pretty top notch. Its a great place to study if you are a student or a working professional.An added bonus for the clean bathrooms.You do need to make sure you validate upon exiting and keep track of time. 3 hours really do fly by and the parking structure located on Maryland is unforgiving.

The place was cleaned and armed with security for everyones safety.The parking was convenient,however, checking your car once in a while so you dont get a ticket. Strong AC.Great WiFi coverage and a fat internet pipe to go with it (15+ Mbps on a speed test, both UP and down!).Plenty of seats with power outlets.Reasonably quiet.Good book selection.Walking distance to good stuff (food, shopping, etc) in downtown Glendale.But...Stinky and ghetto restroom.3 hour parking limit in the garage next door.Overall, I approve!

Nice new library (remodeled) but in REGARDS to USING the PUBLIC COMPUTERS..why cant they allow the user to simply EXTEND the usage after the first hour RATHER THAN being forced to LOGOFF and LOG BACK ON (with a lengthy delay for it to reboot). Most library systems allow you to extend your time until your time is up so you do NOT have to basically START ALL OVER where you left off (logging back into email, social media etc). PLEASE FIX IT GLENDALE LIBRARY !!

Theyre closed more than they are open! Last year has been crazy trying to get into the library. And now they are totally closed. I think this is unacceptable for a community who relies heavily on the local library and their resources.They also have trouble keeping the smoking people away from the entrance so hopefully they will address this with the new renovation

It’s noisy in the library. Not even a quiet place to read. Would not recommend going to this library when for studying or reading. Better to go to a different library location. You can hear people talking loudly even when being on the second floor of the library. Very disturbing. Never ever going.

Statue of a lone girl at Glendale Central LibraryAfter visiting LA for a business trip, I went to Glendale and returned after feeling the hardships of the past for a while.Recently, due to the terrorist attack on the girl statue, the color was repainted, and the caution sign reminded us of a more painful past.
