I was so touched by the staff here at Veterans Park Kayak Rentals. I came to hopefully kayak with my pup, but since my dog had never done it before, I couldn’t be sure it was a good fit. I stopped by the dock to ask a couple questions and Mike graciously allowed me and my pup to “try out” the kayak to see if he was into it - that way I didn’t pay for 2 hours and not be able to go. Nathan was also super helpful and wasn’t afraid to help my dog out when he was scared to get in. Nathan and a girl (I forgot to ask her name - she told me she owns a lab!) were so patient with both of us and gave my Golden lots of love. After we agreed to give it a go, we went to the main office to reserve a 2-person kayak (80lb dog!) and they only charged us for a 1 person. All the staff in the main office were super friendly as well. Thanks again to the super dog-friendly staff here - you can tell everyone has a genuine love for them.

The kayaks are parked on the shore. Quick access to the kayak launch site from the rental office. The launch site is near a park with a small scenary of bridge and waterfall that is accessible via kayak.Tip: we found a 10% off coupon available on the website and even a lower coupon on Groupon. This place Rocks! Weve come here a few times for bike rentals and we are never disappointed... They treat you so well and make sure you are going to have a great time!! Brennan knocked it out of the park for us today by just making sure everything was right. We had a small issue and he made sure that we had a great time and gave us a little extra time! His customer service and attitude exceeds all standards! Thank you Brennan for the great time and we will definitely be back!

Wow what an experience. We rented the tandem kayak and it was seriously a blast! The actual place you rent the gear is very nice and EXTREMELY easy to rent the kayak. All you do is pay and take your receipt to the dock across the street and youre good to go. Absolutely beautiful lake and even more when youre in a kayak. Highly recommend 👌

Their pedal boats are quite unreliable. Our pedal boat started taking on water 2mins into our ride, and eventually capsized. They tried to claim it was because we went too far out. No apology or offer to refund. They didn’t even show up to help, thankfully someone else was near by on another boat. Very disappointed and do not recommend.

Great prices and amazing service. The staff were so helpful at the store and at the dock. I paid for a 2 hr rental but only did an hour because my little ones were scared of falling in the lake off the paddle board. I reccommend a kayak if you have little ones with you. Definitely will rent from them again if in Big bear.

Wow! What a great kayaking experience! It was our first time and took the two hour tour. First time at Big Bear Lake and this made for such a great experience! Cost was good. They provide life jackets, which are mandatory. We would definitely do this again!

One of the Getboards locations caught my eye and was conveniently located right next to the the Airbnb I was staying at, near Boulder Bay Park.The beautiful and brightly colored boards were just so inviting I couldnt help but want to take them out on the water!So I went over to their location and set up a kayaking venture the very next morning!The owner of Getboards was so extremely welcoming and accommodating. Their locations offer paddle boards (SUP), kayaks, e-bikes, mountain bikes, ski gear, snowboarding gear and more. The company even delivers and their prices are affordable, totally unbeatable!!Not to mention, the customer service is great and they help made me feel secure getting into the kayak or riding the e-bikes for my very first time!I highly recommend Getboards to anyone going to Big Bear!Plus they are a locally owned and operated business. Ordered new skis, still in plastic. Product arrived super late even after paying expedited shipping. Packaging was horrible with no cushion or protection inside. Upon inspection there was already an edge chipped/damage. Sold me a blemished product. Yeah don’t buy from this place, there’s more out there.

We rented snow shoes with my partner and they only had smaller sizes, the employee told us it would be adapted for the current state of snow but it ended up limiting our experience. Same for poles that they gave us too short.We had a good experience but the expensive gear rented at Getboards were not worth their price.My advice, go somewhere else if you can!

Ive been visiting GetBoards for about 8 years now. They have always been great and knowledgeable. I used to rent for them for years now I buy all my gear there.Roman is a sales associate that helped me on my last purchase of a Snowboard, Bindings and Boots. Roman was very nice and VERY knowledgeable, he took his time to explain each item to us. Explaining the pros and cons of each item rather then trying to upsell something because it was more expensive is really why we appreciated him. From taking time to expailn boards to us, he began to explain bindings and which he preferred as well as what would work good with what type of riding we were doing. He was very patient pulling out boots and explaining the pros and cons of that boot. Roman didnt make the experience uncomfortable during my Visit to Getboards, meaning he didnt pressure me into buying anything. Which is one of the main reasons why I come back to Getboards year after Year...CUSTOMER SERVICE. With the new board purchase I recieved a snowboard bag and Roman said on my next visit he would even wax the board for free.If your looking for a board shop that KNOWS what they are talking about and not just talking about the highest price item Getboards is the place to go. From Boards to rentals, to gloves this is the place to go. Snowboards and Skiers alike can really get what they need with the customer service to match. Tony the owner is a aweosme guys as well of you get a chance to see him tell him about your experience there it goes a long way. This was mine and my kids first time with GETBOARDS and we had such a great time! We live in Apple Valley and love to get away to Big Bear when we deal with the extreme heat. Todays adventure was to go kayaking. We were greeted by Brennan who was able to direct us to the nearest dock and have us take a short wait while he was helping other customers. From there a young man Anthony was able to guide us onto the dock and run through the information, rules and policies. Brennan then helped my children and myself onto the kayak and gave us the run down of the dos and donts. Couldnt have asked for a better time and am so glad we were provided the service we had from Brennan and Anthony. WE ARE DEFINITELY COMING BACK!! Love this place. We go through them all the time to rent kayaks(rented with them over 3 times). Never had a problem and always so much fun. Workers are all super nice and helpful. I also love that they have 2 spots to rent from so u can see more of the lake.

Reserved 4 bikes but rented only 3 and was no problem. one of us had a birthday day before and nice counter help offered 15% discount for birthday. very nice gesture, she was a teenager I believe apologize no name. outside staff showing us operation of e bikes took time to explain operation very well. bikes themselves, our first e bike experience and was positive. we were told 25mph but bikes were governed to 20 which was fine. I rarely went to 20 and as a group we cruised around 10-12 mph and was better the slower we went to see the scenery anyway. a great time by all

Bought my pair of Line skis here, just in time for some March Mammoth pow! With excellent customer service and a huge selections of equipment from several major brands, this is the place for your snow gears need! When my friend rented here, the rental process is fast and easy, too. Highly recommended.The shop closer to the resort retails skis, the other one has snowboard for sale, but pretty sure you can rent either at both places.

My wife and I have all our own ski and snowboard equipment but our son is still a growing boy. So a few years ago we started him with a seasonal rental we pick up at the beginning of the season and return at the end sure beats going in every time we visit Big Bear to rent with everyone else. I went to the 40977 location. The staff was amazing!!! Every single person in there assisted me (I needed a lot of help lol). They helped me pick out the helmet I wanted in my price range. I’m a beginner skier and wanted to buy skis, and they gave me advice on that. I’m going in for a custom shoe fitting tomorrow. Best service I’ve experienced at a ski shop. They also have a $2 insurance where if there’s a malfunction with the skiis they’ll meet you on the slopes to exchange, which is inexpensive and convenient. Plus I heard there’s a lot of kids and snowboarders here and people doing tricks so might be good to have insurance 🤭🙃Thank you, Kevin and Tony, as well as the other staff (sorry I didn’t get your names), for spending so much time with me explaining everything. I felt very good about my purchases and value your kindness.

If youre in Big Bear, Getboards Ride Shop is a must. Nothing but the best customer service from the moment we stepped on the property. Its easy and inexpensive to rent an eBike. They give you directions on the proper and safe way to handle the eBike, which was great because we havent been on any kind of bike in years. They gave us a map of a trail to go on, and we had so much fun looking at all the beautiful scenery.

This place is amazing. We recently rented some boards and skis for my kids. One of them only skied one day, so we returned one set of boots and skis. Turns out, we accidentally returned the wrong set of boots. Get boards met my husband at the ski lodge with 2 sets if boots to guarantee they had the right size to exchange and they got there quickly in the middle of huge crowds and major traffic. They are incredible. Highly recommend. We will be using them on our next ski trip!

Love these guys. I needed some flexibility for reasons that would bore you, but the crew allowed my family to fit out skis, poles, and boots a couple days before we actually rented them, saving us a lot of ski time. Prices are fair and a 7pm return time allowed us to enjoy a bite to eat at nearby Amangelas (next review) before they closed. With full bellies and gear returned, we easily made our way down the hill after the traffic snarl. Helpful all around!!

Good experience! Great place to get some kayaking done. Perfect for beginners or experienced. You buy your tickets at their shop and then can drive or walk across the street to the dock. They give you the kayak at the doc all set up for you and you just get in and go. I would advise swimming clothes or bring an extra pair because your lower half will get wet. They have a small shelf at the dock to leave your things but may want to keep them in your trunk. All in all great experience and time goes quick! We paid for 3 people for 2 hrs $85. You dont have to stay the full 2 hrs if you dont want to. Bring a watch or purchase a water cover at the shop for your phone to keep track of time.

We picked Getboards as much for convenience of location and dock launch as anything else for our kayak rental. It was a great experience, we had a blast paddling around the lake. The two hours was just right for us. The staff was friendly an helpful for our entire time. I called ahead to make reservations and was told they have plenty of availability that day so not to worry about it; when we arrived there were indeed plenty of boats available and almost no wait at the shop or dock.

Great place to rent gear! Ive gone twice now and both times I was impressed with the staff and service. They do a great job of interpreting my descriptions of my skill level (Im intermediate) and my plans on type of skiing, and translating that to the right gear.Plus, getting your gear the night before (no extra charge) means Im on the slopes sooner.Ive recommended this place to a few friends too. Our family was super grateful to have discovered this great spot! We rented bikes one day and returned our second day to enjoy a great day of kayaking on the lake. May look small but has great gear. From the moment you walk in to the moment you leave, staff is very friendly and attentive. Rental service is very quick and affordable. Gear is either like new or new so you know you are getting only the best. Rental return is very quick and located just outside the storefront so all you have to do is unload the gear from your car. No need to climb stairs or open doors while holding all the gear. Highly recommend. Bonus: Some hotel lobbies or information centers carry a discount coupon toward rentals.

Great ski shop and helpful people! Brought in my older unused skis with marker bindings to be mounted. Their expert ski technician Emilio took a look at everything I had and gave it a shot. Unfortunately since my bindings are older and a special make they werent able to install them but they really did everything they could to at least try. On pick up they had everything nicely packed and ready to go including some free straps for my skis. Took the time to explain everything and completely understand that it wasnt worth the risk to ad-lib the mount for the bindings. Certainly appreciate the lengthy time and effort of their staff.

The company itself was easy to work with. We rented two single kayaks from them and opted for the launch from their dock which made it easier. Going out on the water though was rough. Yes we kept within the white buoy markers but the waves from the wind and boats around us made it really difficult to relax while kayaking. Great place! Everyone was super nice and helpful. Heads up you cant use a Groupon on the weekends. But dogs ride free. They do not have an age limit on children as long as they are under parental guidance which was nice for us cuz we have a 18 month old who loved being out there.Also theyre not a stickler about the time limit. You kind of police yourself but as long as they have kayaks for the people coming through theyre not going to urge people to come back right away.We booked for a 2 hour kayak ride and switched riders multiple times.Highly recommend

I notice that they dont really check how many hours you stay at the lake as long as you showed them your receipt, you are free to do kayaking until you are tired. We bought a Groupon. We called the shop to make the reservation. The reservation time was 2pm. We were told to meet at veterans park at registration time. We get to the dock and we were told we need a receipt and waiver and that we had to walk aftoes the street to the shop. We get to the shop and it is now 2:30p.m. and we are still waiting. There is only one woman at the counter and she has answered no less than 5 phone calls. It isnt her fault but she definitely needs more help and better instructions given on how the process works so people arent wasting their time. The prices are reasonable. The experience other than that is pleasant. Just a bad way to start things off.

It is thanks to get boards that I started snowboarding. Back in 2018 I first rented from them. In 2019 I bought a used board and bindings that were on sale. This last weekend I went back up and stopped by because I was having trouble with one of toe straps. They replaced it for free because I had bought the bindings from them. I bought a beanie just to say thanks. staff member Julian, also talked with me for a while about my snowboard for next year. Staff Is knowledgeable and helpful but it’s that feeling that you’re a friend that sets the shop apart.

Straightforward and efficient ski rentals here. Reserve online ahead of time, then they have sequential stations inside to check in, get boots then skis, and pay. They set up tables outside for easy equipment returns in their parking lot. $32 for the day for intermediate boots/skis/poles, give this place a try!

On our trip to Big Bear, we rented a kayak and a paddle board first thing in the morning. The lake was relatively placid and we had a thoroughly spectacular time. We liked the experience so much we came back a couple of days later to rent from them again. Unfortunately, this time the wind kicked up halfway through our paddling time. It was so strong we ended up needing to be rescued! The staff from Getboards could not have been nicer. (Thank you, Jim!) We will always come back to rent from Getboards when we come to Big Bear!

Super friendly service and Great gear. My family and I had a wonderful time up in Big Bear, thanks to the helpfulness of Michelle from Getboards. We only went up to play in the snow and do sledding. She gave us the proper boots and pants and gloves. She even drew us a map to a secluded park on the hill, where we were able to sled, build snow men and make snow angels all day. Thank you Michelle! I also rented a snowboard, which I used from up higher on the hillside while my wife and kids played down lower. The board, bindings and boots fit way more comfortable than the stuff I have rented from Snow Summit. But, hauling all that up the mountain on foot was So Tough. I did two runs and I was spent. Next time Ill definitely stick to the lifts at the resort.

We we were referred to this place by the lady from the holiday in. It cost us $20 per person for 1 day rentals for boots, poles, and skis. Drop off was easy and outside. Would rent from here again. Way cheaper than renting from the ski park. They charge almost double!
