Everyone was very nice. After we were seated, the hostess explained the menu to us, which I thought was really cool and thoughtful. Our server was great, she found a substitute for a drink they didn’t have. And the food? I had the gypsy schnitzel. It was flavorful and delicious. 10/10. I will definitely be back.

Everything was amazing! Went while touring Stockton and it’s away from the city but was so worth it. Amazing authentic German food and beer. Restaurant is quite small but has a very cool vibe and Biergarten. Our waitress was so nice and knowledgeable and recommended some great beers.

Absolutely amazing food. Its not very often that youll find people who are passionate, excited about the food and service as you would from here. Ive been coming here since almost the beginning and I can assure you that the quality and the welcoming atmosphere has not changed since.When you come in you are always greeted with smiles and joy as you would seeing a good friend.They do not cut corners when it comes to the food and beer. Know whatever you get eat or drink the quality will always be there. The owners make sure to try everything they serve to ensure you will always have an unforgettable meal. Its not very often that you would find an establishment like this, let alone to stay up at night thinking about driving 1300 miles just to taste a little bit of Germany.

So so so so good. Like seriously super good. The schnitzel was breaded so perfectly and the meat cooked to make it not too dry, not too red, just perfect and so good. Curry ketchup is the greatest invention and they have plenty of it here. Everything is just so delicious and I keep taking whiffs from my leftovers box because it smells so good.

If I could give them 10 stars, I would. Erika our server was Amazing and attentive. She gave us recommendations that did not disappoint. The food was tasty and the portions were large. The beer selection was well incredible. We will be back, its our new favorite spot and would highly recommend.

What a treat. Visited this establishment today with 2 of our good friends. None of us had been here before but we all wanted to try this place. It did not disappoint.Great place to have a few beers, hang out with friends and enjoy good food. It started with our server, very friendly and helpful. She explained the menu and made some recommendations and knew the beer selection well.We decided to try the German Sampler for four and glad that we did since that was a great way to try several different types of their wonderful food. We started with Beers of course and one of their pretzels - yummy.Then our Sampler Plate arrived (it included a choice of 4 sides). We selected their Beet Salad, Potato Salad, Potato Croquettes and Spatzle. The Sampler plate had 4 Potato Pancakes, 2 Schnitzel’s, 2 Meatballs (cut up), 2 Smoked Brats and 2 Berlin Curry Wurtz and with their Hunter Sauce and Gypsy Sauce on the side.Great flavors and plenty of food. Good place to visit and as Arnold says “ I’ll be back” - you should visit if you are in the area and are thirsty and hungry!!

My family and I love eating here! Its definitely worth the drive! Britany has been our waitress several times and has always been so kind and helpful. She goes out of her way to make sure that you have a great time, a great beer and delicious food in a cozy atmosphere.The food is incredible! The flavor, the texture, the taste.. Authentic German food! This is how itll taste in Deutschland, so be ready, its different from Americanized German food. (But, where is the veal?) I started with potato pancakes with apple sauce (yum!), had the Pork Schnitzel with Hunter/mushroom gravy, beet salad and Begos, a polish dish of sauerkraut, tomato paste, bacon and sausage. I think its something you either have to grow up with, or really like sauerkraut. Its a potent dish. I would try another side (sorry, mom-in-law). The schnitzel was good, the beet salad was delicious, the bier selection is famous. Ill go again - sausages, kraut, brot and more bier! They are busy on the weekends, more open seats during the week. I wish they had the hofbrauhouse-style seating so that guests could sit closer and commingle. Nice job, guys!

We had a great experience here. The staff was amazing and fun. The food and drinks were the best we had in a while. My wife really loved the Gypsy sauce, even my picky eater son loved the schnitzel fingers and the gypsy sauce to dip in. They have a wide variety of beers and ciders too. We are definitely going to go back and try it all.

This was our first time dining here, and my wifes surprise for us. =) I have been craving German food since I came to the U.S. Its been about 17 years or more since I had a decent Wiener Schnitzel (Not the fast food restaurant with the same name, guess they never had one before). We werent disappointed and they even had Koenigs Pilzner. We ordered the Hunter Schnitzel with Spaetzle, and Bigo (You will have to look that up when you go visit ;)), and the Sausage sampler platter with German bread. Everything tasted great and authentic. Spaetzle could be smaller and thicker as is the Bavarian style that I know and love. They have a beer garden and everyone was outside, and they are Dog friendly. The server made sure that our Dog had a water bowl. If you are in the Waterloo area then make sure you go visit!Our second visit, and this time we had 4 potato cakes with apple sauce (Delicious and we split it). I ordered the potato salad, Gypsy Schnitzel and red cabbage. Everything tasted great and authentic. 🙂My wife ordered the half and half Weiner Schnitzel (Half Hunter sauce and half Gypsy sauce) with 2 servings potato croquettes. The Schnitzel tasted great, and the croquettes did need more salt as they were pretty bland. The curry sauce on the croquettes was very good.The service was quick, and our server checked in on us often, and she was very friendly. 🙂If you love authentic German food and beer and music, then what are you waiting for? 😉

I dont usually do 5 stars. This place was such a pleasant surprise. Nice little mom and pop place. I loved the verity of food. Its nice to have a different taste. Ive never been to Germany. However, the person I was with haa been multiple times, and said the food is even better most of the restaurants in Germany. I highly recommend this restaurant.

UPDATE June 2023: Met friends here to say goodbye to a friend leaving CA, and it was busy! Theyve expanded the food menu to include Cordon Bleu and Bavarian meatloaf and new sauces... everyone loved it and portions were perfect. Best send off our buddy could have. Plenty of shade and coolers in the patio and the AC inside kept people cool enough on a triple digit day in the valley.So glad they chose San Joaquin Co to pursue their dreams. The food is absolutely delicious, the service fast and friendly and the ambiance is CA relaxed with German hospitality!

For at least a year now, We dine at German Guys 2 or 3 times a month. Always a most excellent experience. I love the food, particularly the pork schnitzel. Usually dine with friends or family. Everyone has been pleased with their meals. Not really a kid place but they are kid friendly.The beer is German, wide selection, what more is there to say. Wine available.

My girlfriend and I found this place during the “COVID-19 years”. She moved to Lodi from the Midwest and is of German roots and was curious to know whether we had a German restaurant nearby. She found this place and in my 42 years of life, I never knew this place existed.The food was amazing then… and the food is still amazing. Fantastic food. We tried to get a little bit of everything from the schnitzel side of the menu. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. Its not often theres a German restaurant around, so we didnt know what to order, but the recommendations were completely on point.All homemade food, family recipes. We will definitely be back. We made the mistake of arriving on a Saturday evening without a reservation so at the suggestion of the server we got take out. Which we got very quickly ! What a wonderful surprise. We both got cordon blue with different sauce. It was delicious, the chicken moist the breading light and perfect flavor and the mushroom sauce I could eat by the spoonful. It will become our new go to for I don’t feel like cooking evenings!!! But next time we will make a reservation!!!!

Rain limited seating inside so there was more wait than usual, but we never felt rushed. We plan too return soon on a clear evening for the biergarten! We have been coming to German Guys for a year and it’s always a treat. We make reservations before hand since it can get busy. The service is amazing. Britany was our server and she kept us happy and full and had our beers topped off. If you come on a night with music or special offerings, it’s a good time as well. Christmas brings some traditional German meals.

If you want the homiee grandma tasting food this is the place. Im originally from Poland and their food tastes exactly how my grandma used to make it back in the days. Chicken kotlet with a side of saurekraut and bigos is the way to go. Their beer is amazing too.

What an absolutely delightful restaurant. We drive down from Galt frequently. Erika is well-versed in all of their offerings and is happy to explain them in great detail. This is especially helpful for the person new to German cuisine. I highly recommend the place. The food, service and atmosphere are wonderful. Down to earth and casual. Erika stands at the ready! Me and my friend had dinner last evening (November 12, 2020) at 5:30pm. We drove a short time East of Stockton, CA. COVID-19 protocols were adhered to, and didn’t distract from our dinning experience. Quiet ambience. We didn’t make reservations in advance. We were graciously greeted nicely by the restaurant owner and serving staff who had obvious and pleasant German accents. The pleasantries continued with a brief and comprehensive explanation of the menu. We chose the Dinner for 2 Sampler, and a tasty bottle of Sauvignon Blanc. Dinner for 2 Sampler and bottle of Sauvignon Blanc was a reasonable $60+. German beers are offered. German decor and ambience. I recommend German Guys restaurant for intimate dinning, and families. OMG! I have been wanting to go to this restaurant for months, then the Covid hit, so I had to wait. Best authentic German food I have ever had... The waitress had amazing customer service, she was the only one but she never lost a beat, and kept everyone happy. I highly recommend this restaurant. An honest opinion because I don’t write reviews. But since my wife is from Germany, I though why not. It seems once upon a time, the location was someone home who converted it into a nice cozy place to serve German dishes. The waitress working there was very friendly, and made sure you understood the menu. The cordon Bleu with mushroom was very tasty, compare to the same dish I had in Germany which was tastier. The only thing I didn’t like about my meal was since I order a salad, they put my cold salad on the same plate with my hot food. That was a no no, but I didn’t say anything about it. Will I return, Yes and invite friends who want to sample dishes from Germany.

Tried this place for the first time. I had heard good reviews and was looking forward to trying this restaurant. When we arrived, there werent many people in the restaurant, but they said that they had reservations coming in. The only option for our party of 6 was to sit on the patio. Other parties on the patio who arrived after us had already received their food. The owner was talking with customers at a table next to us, so my husband called out to him. The owner apologized for the wait and proceeded to give excuses for the delay. He finally then walked into the restaurant to check on our food. After another 10 minutes, it food finally arrived.The food was average and at room temperature at best. Flavors were okay. My husband and I had the sample platter for two. It had various sausages and chicken schnitzel, with all the sides - potato salad, spaetzle, beet salad, and sauerkraut. Food portions were quite small. It was nice that they did a Thanksgiving special in giving free dessert. We had the German cheesecake and apple strudel. It would have been nice if the struesel was warmed. The cheesecake was light; not a creamy texture.The service was fine. Our server was friendly and checked on us often during our one hour wait for food. Her friendly and positive attitude was probably the best part of our experience.I hope this restaurant improves and does well.

I found the German Guys by accident on the internet and I was going to be driving close to it so I figured Id give this place a try. I honestly felt like the critic on Ratatouille and immediately went to my childhood at my first bite when my Muti (lost her in 2013) would cook. I had the schnitzel with spaetzle with a German beer. The schnitzel was almost perfect as I would hate to hurt my Mutis feelings by saying it was better than hers. The seasoning and coating was spot on and so juicy but it could have been pounded just a bit more. That is my only complaint.. Not their fault, theres just not a lot of spots when they are busy.Our waitress was friendly and helpful with the menu. Food took a little bit, but again, it was fairly busy.Then the owner came out and made conversation with each table and talked about the special and how Weds are their Mondays and they were happy to see us happy. We started with the potato pancakes, yum, my husband had Hunter Schnitzel with Croquettes & I had Schnitzel Hollandaise with Spatzle & red bell pepper sauce. Large portions, everything was delicious! Was too hot for beer so we had wine instead. The servers are super friendly & knowledgeable. We will definitely be back, want to try other items.

Delicious and authentic food, and thats coming from a person from Central Europe.Schnitzel and warm sauerkraut were incredibly delicious. Stuffed cabbage was great and delicate flavor. Everything freshly made. Pretzels, mustard and German Lager is a combination made in heaven.Service was excellent and very helpful.This food is a great respite from the typical Central Valley food, so its nice to get alternative cultures and finally some diversity!Building is frumpy, but wow, the food and service is great.Note they have special events and food items so keep an eye out for them.

Hidden gem in Waterloo. Excellent authentic German food with personable, friendly service. Many schnitzel, salads and sides to choose from. Sampler plates are a great value for 2+ diners. Many imported German beers with a couple on tap. Well drive over an hour from home to dine here again!

Very impressed! Kind of a random location, but a friend recommended it so we checked it out and loved it. The food was excellent (omg the croquettes were to die for), beer selection was not extensive, but had good variety, and the service was great. We will be back! Oh, and they have an outdoor Bier garden with shade.
