On our drive down from Reno we broke down outside of Vacaville. Fortunately, owing to numerous ValleJo family recommendations, we ended up at Gene’s. Tracy and her crew were extremely busy, but fixed our truck in record time. Highly recommend Gene’s Auto Repair.

A+ experience. My truck needed front axles seals which on a 3/4 ton truck with a Dana 60 is not an easy task. Not only a local shop but also women owned/operated. I met Tracy, Im so sorry but dont recall the other ladys name. They resolved my issue, very professional, being super courteous. I was even offered a ride home while waiting. Will support this local shop. BTW: I used to repair and program industrial robots for a living and can tell if BSd. Nothing here. I went to Genes after a recommendation from American Canyon Collision when they couldnt help me with my car repairs. AC Collision doesnt do this type of work. I called Genes and spoke with Tracy and thank you Lord! Tracy was great!!! She told me everything I needed to know, most dealerships and car repair places lie to women and charge them a fortune, which happened in my case with the dealership. Tracy even took time to help me contact the warranty company and get most of the repairs paid by them. Thank God for warranties and Genes!!!! My car has been running like a kitten. Wonderful people and honest, my car loves Genes and so do I!!!!

So far my experience is great with Genes. It may be more expensive than other shops in the area. But you pay for quality work and parts. They are extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Its nice knowing I will not need to bring my trucks in for the same problem. Quality you can trust. Big Oz does a great job keeping me company.

Ive trusted my vehicles to Genes Auto for many years, because I know that Tracy runs an HONEST shop, they do fine work and I cannot count the times that Tracy has researched some thing or another for me--at no charge.Their waiting area is very inviting: It is always immaculate; in summer, there is an air conditioner; there are always coffees, teas, and snacks; theres a very informative bulletin board; and a coffee table holds magazines and other reading material.It is clear that the owner truly cares for her clients and will bend over backwards to be of help. That doesnt mean, however, that she is a pushover. Shes not!Finally, if youd like more than just my word, consider that Genes Auto was designated as a Diamond Certified Business (I dont recall the exact year(s), but you may view the certificate(s) at the office).In all, I feel that you cannot go wrong with Genes Automotive. As a woman of color, Ive encountered more auto mechanics than I care to remember, who would see me coming and begin plotting, how to charge me the maximum, for doing the minimum. Since Genes is a woman-owned shop, I no longer worry about whether or not repairs are legitimate. Although prices are not on the low end of the scale, the estimates are clear, informative and precise. If additional work is needed, the customer is contacted and everything explained, before any of the work is started. Plus, their work usually carries a guarantee.I would wholeheartedly recommend Genes without hesitation. They are definitely a five-star business!

Great experience with Genes as to a major engine repair and also smog checks. Tracy checked with us before any engine repair work was started so we could see what was being done and where the repairs needed to be done. We were presented with a estimate for factory parts that would be used in the repair before any repair work was started. We had a delay of about a day as one part had to be shipped from back east and they had major weather problems slowing down any shipments. The work was completed on schedule after the one day delay and our vehicle has worked fine since then. They included a free checkup after a certain number of miles which was a great customer service feature. Thanks to Tracy and her great crew of mechanics!

My husband use to bring his Toyota to Genes years ago and could never say enough good things about them, so when I saw a coupon for a SMOG I called to make an appt. My first experience at Genes Auto Repair last year for a complete brake job on my 2010 Ford Ranger pick up, was nothing less than perfection from beginning to end. Tracy (the owner operator) and her crew were all courteous, knowledgeable, competent and industrious in the performance of their individual tasks within the business, not to mention competitive in their pricing. They know their market!Im writing this review today, because . . . I had recently sought out Tracys advice on the brakes of my wifes 2014 Infinity Q50. The Infinity dealers service people had informed her, that the brakes were in need of a complete front replacement, as the pads were in the RED zone, and the rear brakes were now almost through the YELLOW zone, would soon follow. All to include expensive new rotors. This info terrified my wife!When I called Tracys shop, the receptionist said to come in at my convenience and they would do a close inspection of the cars brakes for me, at no charge (for a previous customer). Warmly greeted, as usual, their mechanic put the car up and proceeded with the inspection while I waited. A short time later, they showed me the results of their inspection and the brake parts in question. Their diagnosis was that the brakes various components were all within safe factory tolerances, and should safely perform at least through the upcoming winter months, if not through next summer. Very reassuring. At least I could rest easy knowing my wife would be safe during the coming months. I asked them to quote me for a thorough brake job, and the honest answer was a range in price dependent on the actual wear on the system at the time the work is eventually done. But!!! Tracys price range was significantly lower than the Infinity dealership.Genes Auto Repair will definitely be doing the new brakes on our Q50 in the spring. There is no question that they are the go to auto repair for our family and all others that we can steer their way. Keep up the good work!p.s. My Ranger now stops on a dime . . . and gives me 9 cents change!

I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! The owner and her daughter are delightful. The other employees are also fantastic. I got in and out with no hitches. It was fast, friendly and very efficient. I didnt know that I needed to take some paperwork with me but it was not a problem. They uploaded the information to the right state organization and I was out of there in a flash.Their prices are also marvelous.

I have lived in Vallejo for the past 25 years ; and have been bringing in my car and my familys cars to Genes Auto Repair to be serviced / repaired for at least the past 15 years . I simply would not go anywhere else . By their outstanding service ; they have kept me and my family safe on the road ; by maintaining our cars ; and keeping them running splendidly .Of equal importance to me ( if not more so ) besides the great work that they do - is their honesty . If it is not worth it to fix your car ( too expensive ; the car is too old - whatever ) - Tracy and her crackerjack staff will simply tell you so . Because I am also an older, disabled person - I rely on Genes integrity . These folk are excellent - nuff said .

The people at Genes were nice however they wanted to charge me 450 for a diagnostic. I was not sure if my car was worth fixing. After charging me 450 they called to say I needed to pay over $700 to see what the problem was because they had to take apart the engine. I ended up taking the car to another place which did a free diagnostic and let me know that the car was not worth the repairs. It should not cost $700 to find out you need to buy a new car.

Hey there! Once again, Tracy Renee and her crew at Genes Auto Repair saved my bacon! I drive my pet 2010 Ford Ranger XLT pretty hard, and discovered lately, thanks to her chief tech., that I was about to lose my right front wheel bearings which would have most likely resulted in a serious accident. Its just about to turn 175,000 mi. and runs great, thanks to Genes Auto RepairSince first finding Genes back in 2016, They have been my go to repair shop for even the slightest sign of trouble. I dont believe there is any make or model of any automobile made that can present a challenge that they cant meet and correct. They have proven that to me, several times now. Today, it was just a smog test, which it passed with flying colors, but now, I wouldnt take it anywhere else!Im 73 years young now and have owned my share of cars and trucks from a 47 Willys Jeep to a 2010 4 litre Jaguar S Type sedan over the years, and most everything in between. Foreign and domestic. My only wish is that I had known Genes Auto Repair a long time ago. Great people to do business with.

Went here because it was easy. After I was already on the hook for a grand in repairs they doubled it the next day.I paid for the work done and brought my car to my long time trusted mechanic with multiple engineering degrees and over 30 years of experience racing cars. Some of the repairs they said made my car unsafe didnt have to be done for at least one year. My rear brakes which were unsafe had 3-5mm of shoe left. Enough for at least another year or two with my driving.

I took my car here for a simple smog repair at 8:00 AM. and left them my car all afternoon, only to get a call back while Im at work at 3:00 PM. the same day telling me their technician had broke the key in my ignition while trying to start my car. They caused me a big headache and didnt want to cover the cost to have a locksmith come extract the broken key from my ignition. They had to keep my car overnight by pushing it in the garage and still didnt do the job I hired them to do. I had to pay the locksmith out of pocket, over $75.00. The owner Tracy was rude, unprofessional, and unreasonable after I asked her to help cover half the cost, which she wouldnt do after having the car for over 6 hours on here location. I wouldnt trust these guys to put air in a bicycle tire if I was on flat riding past their business. They appeared nice at first but when customer service was important they failed, I had to inform the Better Business Bureau and Bureau of Automotive Repair of their negligence. I would give them 0 Stars but i had to select at least one to leave this review of these crooks.

My dad had his 2005 car smog checked and the mechanic on duty took an hour and a half to finish the job. Right after completion, he showed my dad a valve leak under the engine cover. Then 5 mins later he discovered that the radiator hose was leaking due to a broken part of the plastic hose connected to the radiator. Mind you, this was not in issue previously and the employees seemed inexperienced when performing their job.Not only that, the mechanic has failed to properly install the engine cover and plastic fastenings (which pretty much means they were missing).This was my dads experience so its up to your discretion to trust them with your car.

They were nothing good. I took my car there 2 days ago because of the reviews i have read from there and it was nothing like ppl would say. They literaly just stole money.i took my car to get diagnosed because my power steering would not work and they didnt even fix it and just told me to get new tires and gave me an estimate and said it would be about 4 grand for new tires and rims.. So, 2 weeks ago I scheduled a Smog Inspection online with them, which was supposed to be followed by phone confirmation. Never happened. Called and left message several times. Tried to contact thru website email--Again no response. Finally drove by the place and it surprisingly looks abandoned and non functioning and no signs indicating closure.So very odd--I talked to a human being a month ago. A year ago I took my GMC Envoy XL in to fix a squealing fan belt that was installed in Reno. They fixed it for and didnt charge for the belt because it was the wrong size because the XL has a slightly different configuration. They went above and beyond what most shops will do. I have been taking both my cars there since.
