Im a returning client of Dr Schultzel and I cant recommend his services enough. Hes professional, courteous, friendly, and put my mind at ease throughout my appointments. He quickly assessed my issues and laid out a plan for treatment. I am so impressed with his staff and level of care. I consulted with Dr. Schultzel about a left inguinal hernia that has been causing me a lot of pain for a year. I explained to him that I have seen other surgeons but would not operate on me because I am immunosuppressed and due to my weight. Dr. Schultzel confidently assured me that if he operate using his robotic technology, everything will be fine. He operated and he was right. He and his staff did a superb job before, during, and after the surgery. Everything went smoothly from my first visit, surgery preparation, and post-surgery follow-up. Recovery was a breeze. I had a previous surgery 22 years ago on the same hernia but recovery was very painful. My family and friends are amazed at how I can drive and move around. I am eternally grateful to Dr. Schultzel, Dr. Burgess, and the rest of the staff for giving me the pain-free life that I thought I would have to live for the rest of my life.

I saw Dr Schultzel for hemorrhoid banding, but he also Dxd an umbilical hernia as well at the consult. He took care of all my issues efficiently and excellently along with great, supportive care. I now have a much cuter belly button!Dr Schultzel is in great demand and some of his patients are cancer patients, so his office can be very busy, and appts can run behind, especially in the afternoon. So if you need to get in and out of your appt on time, schedule for the first few appts in the morning.I highly recommend Dr Schultzel for any of the treatment options or surgeries in his practice.

I first came to Dr Schultzel with a bad case of a health issue that was simply getting worse. I had a hard time even moving my body. My husband, Jim, found Dr. Schultzel, as my second opinion surgeon, for a colon cancer diagnosis I received in Dec., 2019. He performed a successful, robotic surgery to remove a tumor, and has done an amazing job following up with me, throughout. He always takes a lot of time with us, and makes us feel special, like more than just patients. Had hemorrhoid surgery 8 weeks ago and couldnt be happier! So glad I made the decision to do this. Wasnt as bad as I was told it could be. 2 weeks of discomfort, but nothing I couldnt manage with rest, sitz baths and hot compresses. Witch hazel compresses helped amazingly. Now Im hemorrhoid free and very grateful! Thank you!!

Dr. Schultzel is AMAZING! I had to have surgery last June to remove two very large painful internal hemorrhoids. Needless to say, everything that I had read and heard about hemorrhoid surgery was not pleasant! Im not here to tell you anything different! It was a rough process, but Dr. Schultzel was very professional and honest. He helped me through the whole process, and I had no surprises along the way. I was still struggling with scar tissue seven months after the surgery, and Dr. Schultzels receptionist, Emily, got me in to see him ASAP. He has been very patient with me, and has helped me get back to a normal lifestyle that I havent experienced for 30+ years! It wasnt easy, but it was definitely worth it! Thank you Dr. Schultzel!

I recently had surgery performed by Dr. Schultzel. It was a potentially painful surgery (hemorrhoids) and I have to say that I was very impressed all along the way. First off, at my initial visit, Dr. Schultzel was very communicative as well as very gentle, which was appreciated. Emily, the scheduler, really did a great job along with the rest of the staff in making sure that I had all that I needed prior to the surgery. They arranged pre-surgical testing and provide me with clear guidance. Post-surgical instructions were also excellent as was all follow-up. Im a toxicologist so Im not unfamiliar with medical issues. I wouldnt hesitate to go back to Dr. Schultzel and dont hesitate to recommend him and his staff highly.

Shortly after moving to Temecula from Orange County I was astounded to discover I had colon cancer! I was almost immediately referred to Dr. Schultzel who comforted and assured me he would take excellent care of me. At 78 I had been in relatively good health. This news shocked me and led me to believe my life was over. My 88 year old mother had leakage problems for 20 years in her intestines and bladder that her regular doctor tried to help her with, all to no avail. Dr Schultzel saw her and was able to diagnose the problem and set a surgery date. She delayed a bit, due to her own scheduling conflict, and by the time the surgery date arrived, she had sepsis and felt weak. He did the surgery and it did take some time for recovery, however, the situation was more than expected once he was in there. She is healed, has NO colostomy bag, and acts 10 years younger as a result of just feeling better and having a healthy system. Her disposition is much more positive and she is back to herself. Had dr Schultzel not performed the surgery, my family believes she would have passed away. He just gave her her life back!!!

Dr. Schultzel has a wonderful bedside manner. He too the time to explain everything he needed to do and how he was going to do it. He was patient and spent enough time with me to answer all my questions prior to the surgery. Scipps Hospital were the operation was performed was excellent. Using the Robotic method with small incisions I felt no pain after surgery and was able to go home with only an afternoon of down time. I was back to work the next day. I had 2 follow up visits with him and was impressed with the time he took. Would definitely refer him to friends and go back to him myself if needed.

I had the pleasure of being a patient of Dr. Schultzels for surgery to remove my gallbladder and from the first encounter felt completely at ease and confident in his expertise as a surgeon. His bedside manor and attention to detail, which included keeping my wife up to date before and after the surgery, were outstanding as was his staff. Unfortunately there were complications during my hysterectomy with my OBGYN which required an emergency Ileostomy to be preformed. Im extremely grateful that Dr. Schultzel was brought in to preform the surgery using advanced laparoscopic methods. He was very comforting and able to explain things to me in a way which I could understand that helped me greatly through a difficult recovery period.Dr. Schultzel has since preformed an Ileostomy reversal and hernia repair and I am thankful to be well on my road to recovery! I entered the Coronado ER with substantial pain and was told I would need surgery. Dr. Burgess performed the surgery and did an excellent job - no complications, minimal scars, etc. I saw both Drs. Burgess and Schultzel for follow-ups. Both doctors and the professional staff at the La Jolla office were caring and professional. Knowing the care I received was top notch gave me confidence things would turn out well and I had no worries throughout the experience.

He makes you very comfortable during the most uncomfortable situations. He had a sense of humor about things which makes it so much more pleasant even when your not at your best. From diagnosis to surgical recovery, the process and people involved all shine compared to any other medical facility or group. I am certainly thankful for Dr. Schuetzels exceptional knowledge, skills and abilities in robotic surgery. I jokingly remarked that he looked like a guy that was good with a joystick Of course I know nothing about the operation of the robotics. He performed a double inguinal hernia repair with mesh on my complex situation without any adverse reactions. In fact quite the opposite. Healing went well and now since the procedure on October 30th 2019, I am in great shape. I couldnt be more pleased. Dr. Schuetzel had .the highest regard for my comfort and condition. Not only were he and his office INCREDIBLE during the pre-op, preparation, and post-op phases, but hes an EXCELLENT surgeon! He truly cares about your well-being and recovery. His office was diligent in getting my surgery on the calendar as quickly as possible, and Ive felt incredible since! He took the time to answer ALL of my questions (and there were A LOT), explained in awesome detail what was done, and took the time to counsel me in what to expect with my new, shorter guts. Dr. Daniel Burgess performed an excellent surgery and treatment in repairing my Hiatal Hernia I suffered with for years. The pain meds worked amazing. Recommended liquid diet was easy and even lost weight. Follow up care excellent. In two months all limitations were removed diet back to normal and no lifting limitations. I owe this to Dr. Janoski who realized I had a serious problem and helped me find the right Doctor to help me.

Extremely satisfied with his knowledge and abilities. I experienced two types of procedures that were entirely successful and provided great relief.He operated to remove multiple lipomas. His removal method used very small incisions. The result was removal without post operation pain.He also removed four large internal hemorrhoids. Completely successfully and without pain. This is a remarkable statement given that the hemorrhoids removed were among the largest he’d seen in his practice.
