What made our experience so great was the supportive team work and clear communication from the team, from Corbin himself to my main assistant Anthony, all your hard work and scrambling around in the background made buying out first home much less stressful that Ive seen others go through. As long as we were upfront about our cluelessness in the home buying process, I feel we were treated with the knowledge of our ignorance. being able to close ahead of schedule was also very pleasant

Eddy Lomeli helped us get into our new home. He is so up to date on the current loan programs and genuinely wants to find his clients the right one. He was able to get us qualified, despite having some fluctuations in my salary (due to low census at my hospital job). On top of that, we didn’t have to use our savings for the down payment! Our only upfront cash was for the closing costs. Eddy is very professional, transparent and patient! When interest rates were climbing, he reassured us that there were other options to help us. We were asked to close within 20 days. Krystle made sure we closed 3 days before the 20. We knew the progression of the process the whole time she never kept us in the dark. We had been looking for a home for over a year and in that year the rates changed so many times. When rates adjusted she made sure to tell us what our buying power was. I was introduced to Thomas and his team through a family member, right from the start, Thomas and his team made the entire process very simple and easy. He laid out exactly what I needed to have ready, exactly what I should expect to happen, and how we can make changes and adjust things in the future. Update: Lowering review to 2 stars :( Original review is included at the end.One of the biggest reasons we decided to go with GEM was that we felt that this was going to be a 30yr relationship we were committing to. We really enjoyed working with their team and decided to go with GEM for their exemplary customer service, even though we were offered a comparable loan at a 0.625% lower rate by a different, also reputable lender. We figured the higher rate would be worth it for the better service over the life of the loan.A few weeks after closing we were contacted by a random company that we had never heard of, nor met with (honestly I thought it was a scam company) telling us to set up an account to make our mortgage payments. I contacted GEM to ask if this other company was a scam, and to set up our actual payment account with GEM. To my surprise they responded that yes this was real, and that they already sold our loan to some other company... before we ever made our first payment. ouch..Turns out that feeling like we werent being sold a loan during the lending process was a misplaced assumption, and that actually we were the item being soldWhile I still feel that GEM did a great job during the lending, I now regret not going with the lender with the lower rate.. We definitely feel a little taken advantage of. *first time homebuyer lesson*Original Review:We had a great experience with Gem Mortgage. They were very responsive and helpful throughout the lending process; especially for first time homebuyers! They explained everything clearly, and ran us through a lot of scenarios and options. Had a horrendous experience working with Jose. Loan terms / rates were revised 3 times in total after initial approval, less than 4 weeks to closing and the third revision was the night prior to our closing date because of which we obviously missed closing date by a few weeks. The builder imposed a per day penalty for missing closing date. Builder did not allow us to change lender 30 days prior to closing because of which we were stuck with our loan originator from GEM. Unable to deal with the stress and to reduce the damage, we almost called the entire thing off and lost the deposit (thousands of hard earned dollars). Go somewhere else and save yourself from the anxiety.
