Henry’s Take, Takes L.A.!Part 1Pretty catchy slogan, don’t you think? We haven’t launched a new series in a while and we are indebted to @1ehernandez for his creative suggestion for this series (and also for branding it).So where does one begin in the “City of Angels?” While there are countless starting points available, we chose “Gelato and Angels.” It just makes sense, right?Our Review Team brought with us the individual tastes of 8 varying palettes and yet no concerns were expressed about finding something to sample. In keeping with the L.A. theme I went with the “La Brea Tarpits” flavor and I never found myself hopelessly “stuck” in a cavity of flavorlessness. 😉In addition to the other impressive selection of flavors I was surprised by their offering of no less than a dozen Vegan flavors.Although I didn’t try these items, my imagination was captured by their “Donut Gelato Sandwich” and their “Spaghetti Sundae.” Not brave enough to try them mind you, but intrigued nonetheless.And that’s…Henry’s Take.#lagelato

When youre a gelato place in a beach side town, you need to get it right. That may put you in the Kanye-new-album pressure, but at $7.50 for 2 scoops, you gotta hit it out of the park.This place bunts.The test of great gelato is the daily free (ie sorbetto) chocolate and lemon. Get these right, and you know flavour and texture, and the rest is easy...well...lemon squeezy I guess. Sadly, here its more testical squeezy. They both have the chalky texture of dry putty; flying off the spoon like a slingshot. Dairy free doesnt mean you dont get a great, creamy texture. Not so here. The density is all wrong, and the mouth feel is exactly like eating snow...compacted snow. The taste is even more disappointing. Chocolate sorbetto can have an intensity that makes you feel like you cant eat a whole serve, but simultaneously die for more. Here, its like one of those dont hot chocolates you make with water. The lemon too misses the characteristic acid and rind that can take this stalwart to ethereal heights.Sadly this Angel dont soar.

Delicious! You can try any flavor you want, they have a variety of different gelato flavors like Thai tea boba, green tea, Taro, and then more common flavors like mocha, espresso, pistachio, salted caramel. They also have egg waffle cones, cookies, donut sandwiches, brownie bowls. We got the lemoncello gelato which was vegan and it wasn’t too sweet which was perfect. It had a strong lemon flavor. The fudge brownie was amazing - it was warm, gooey and melty inside and it tasted heavenly. Definitely recommend here over the Manhattan creamery down the street in terms of satisfying portions, but if you don’t like gelato and just want ice cream the creamery might be a better choice. I liked the egg waffles and donuts and brownie options they had here though. Amazing!

Really wide variety of super unique flavors, friendly staff who let you try plenty of flavors before making a choice, and great sizing options - you can even get a kids size and still do 2 flavors half/half side by side. I highly recommend the cookie crazy flavor, and California strawberry chocolate chip. Lavender honey is a unique one but I wouldn’t want a whole cone of it. They also have a ton of sorbet options for the lactose free. Not much seating beyond 2 tables but you can eat outside of course.

Location is awesome - very near the beach. It is one of the good gelato walking distance to the beach.But the quality of gelato is not good at-least by LA standards. For example …”baccio de latte” gelato or even Eately gelato is much better. 10 mins drive you have “gelato-go el sugando”which is much better than this.I have never thrown a gelato. I had to throw the coconut one.They write “ingredients imported from Italy” but when I asked they said it’s only a few.I tried dark chocolate and coconut. Next time I will stick to dark chocolate.

Stopped in here while walking around. Unfortunately they arent doing samples so I had to take my chances. The vegan chocolate was very good along with the banana. I have to say Ive had better vegan gelato, but this was good.

Lots of options here - and about half were vegan as well. I chose the vegan dark chocolate (a water-based flavor) and a coffee flavor and it was about $8. Many of the flavors had toppings mixed in, with creative names as well. Perfect cool snack after a long beach walk.

Picture doesnt look like much but man o man this was pure beautiful. Ive been craving more since I finished this cup. Truly the best gelato in So. Cal. I have 4 different flavors in this cup. I have salted caramel, italian chocolate chip, cookies and more, and regular chocolate chip. All were equally delicious in their own right. Writing this review intensifies my crave for more. Get there and enjoy what Gelato and Angels have to offer. You wont be disappointed!!!

Shes indeed an angel for helping me (who live in London, the UK) to surprise my dear friend who lives in LA whilst Stephanie is in Germany liaising with her employees at Manhattan Beach! Knowing certain flavours would be special for my friend, Stephanie makes sure those flavours are included in the icecream cake and the icecream tubs! Stephanie goes beyond and above to arrange for the surprise to be delivered to my friend (we had c.20 email exchanges to make this happen and Stephanie was as excited as I) Just by the beautiful Italian ribbon, my friend can tell the surprise is from me! :) THANK YOU Stephanie!! Second time at this place and will not come back anymore after giving them a second chance. The two ladies working there seemed to be more interested to talk each other about who guess what than asking me for my order. Then I had to call her attention because the order was not right. Flavors are below expected. Vanila single cone from McDonalds is better than this over priced ice creams.

My fav espresso & gelato habitat in the South Bay beach cities.Superb bold espresso goes toe-2-toe with BIG gelato flavors. Perfect textures, with both traditional and outrageous flavors.(looking at you, Pride Rainbow with Unicorns!) My current rave: Cold Brew Crunch in a waffle cone. (A delicious waffle cone.)Long padded benches inside in case the fog blows in, or a level bench on the sloping sidewalk out front for sunshine and the endless beach city parade of doggos and kids.Its a little scoop and spresso-shot of heaven.

How does one work at a gelato parlor but has a nasty attitude!? We visited last night as I was craving gelato. The customer service was terrible. When we walked in, we received no greeting. We were basically ignored, although there were 2 workers there and only 1 customer ahead of us. Interestingly enough, the white couple after us received a very welcoming greeting 🙄 The employee had no enthusiasm and seemed annoyed when working with us. She don’t even know why, other than the fact that we were 2 Black folks having the audacity to order gelato. I also felt rushed when we did get help. Although both the boba and pistachio flavors were good, I won’t be returning because of how we were treated. Do better!! And stop judging people!!

Their lavender gelato in a pint is what I always get every time I go here its so super delicious that every time I open that container I take a deep smell of it because it is so relaxing and then I eat it. Im glad this place hasnt closed down, Ill be so sad but thankfully its still up and running

I’m so sad to say this place has gelato that is mostly tasting like sugar.I was excited to try this gelato but all flavors I tried were so bad. Two of my group still ended up getting gelato and I tasted theirs again after we left the store and again just sugar. You can do better.Salted pistachio…omg why? Keep it simple and delicious.The location is great. The service was very friendly and the gelato shop is pretty. Juts wish the gelato tasted good.

The gentleman who helped us out was very helpful & nice, he even put a sample of an ice cream on top of my two flavor scoops because they dont offer samples during this time. The gelato is good, not thick and creamy as I would like but it’s deliciousAlso, I ordered the brownie sundae and it’s HORRIBLE. Burnt, tasted old and though they heated it up, it wasn’t melting into the ice cream as it should. I even checked the bottomAnd it was burnt charcoal black. I showed the employees and they chose not to refund me.

Gelato was good. Portion size was adequate. Attitude was surprisingly poor. Showed up at 10:20. Couldnt determine the flavors as the signs showing the flavor were gone. The servers then announced that they were stopping service at 10:30. At 10:35 we were asked to leave the store. When we questioned why they were closing now on a Saturday night when their website said 11:00, they simply said the store was closed and the employees had to be out of the store by 11. Dont expect to be returning, service is what would bring me back. Lots of choices...lifes too short.

The vanilla bean is vanilla but it has a slightly crunch taste at some points. And they have such a weird and unique menu! If this is a place then Ill be coming here more! The dessert was good. But the service from the ugly scrawny female idk if she’s the manager, was very condescending. Very bad for the business. Maybe she should fix that attitude before heading to work. She could probably get high blood pressure from all her negative energy and attitude. No cap. Parking: Trying to find parking in front of the shop is difficult. There are a couple of parking structures a block away. This is very close to the pier so you can get it on your way down or on your way back.You can get two flavors in a small cup. They pack it pretty high. It is definitely enough to share with a friend. I figure it is like ice cream but definitely not. The coffee and the nutella ones are definitely a must try. My girlfriend said it is comparable to Italys gelato.There is a small sit down area. I do not recommend large groups but it doesnt get too pack so might be able to pull a couple of tables together.

Gelato was fine but. . . the service was atrocious. A bunch of us went in at 10:30 (hours everywhere says it closes at 11) on a Saturday night. We clearly upset the two college students working there! All of the gelato flavor labels had been removed, so we had to ask what flavor everything was, and they couldnt even tell us on everything. After helping a couple of us, one of the guys proceeded to tell us that we shouldnt listen to the website, as it is wrong, and that they actually close at 10:30. After he had helped all of us, he proceeds to tell us, I dont mean to be rude, but you need to leave as we are closed. It was 10:45. Dont plan on going back to a place that doesnt want me there!

This review is for Rick, manager for Gelato and Angels, who is a credit to his company. He is professional and personable. Gelato supplys a booth at parties that serves ice cream and makes tasty ice cream sandwiches from donuts that are heated up in a waffle maker. They are delicious.Ive been to a couple parties where Rick ran the ice cream sandwich cart. Eventhough he has to deal with scores of rowdy kids, he never gets overwhelmed and always has a smile on his face. I totally recommend Gelato and Angels for your party and ask for Rick. Their ice cream sandwiches are very popular.

Too full from dinner, but completely unwilling to forgo an opportunity to try the geladough when I was so close by, along I came, with my unwilling victim of a cousin. I used to go to Gelato in Fashion Island, Newport Beach, and I though that was the same quality but I was completely worng, the girl didnt know the prices for almost every single item, Also ths ice-cream tasted bad and the waffle was hard to eat..The two flavors were nothing compared to others Gelato,, others stores you cant finish the 2 or the 3 flavors, really noway but for thier ice-cream was a big joke.... Just go to Gelato in Fashion Island and you will get the huge difference between both of them .

Came here with my girlfriend and grandma to enjoy a little German spaghetti eis. We came while the owners were hosting a German film crew filming a documentary. Everyone was incredibly friendly and we all felt as though we were right back at home in Germany!

We also wanted to try ice cream here rather than somewhere else. The ice cream was expensive, like everywhere else here, but very tasty. It wasnt as sugary as usual in America.Unfortunately we were only there in the evening and didnt have time to come back during the day. There are lots of small shops there and everything looked very good.

Its a really great little ice cream shop with tons of crazy and delicious ice cream combinations. So there really is something for every taste. The condition is also very nice and accommodating, so that no wishes remain unfulfilled. So perfect for a little refreshment on Manhattan Beach in the bright sunshine.

Spaghetti ice cream is humorous and interesting! ! (lol) Its vanilla ice cream and strawberry sauce, but it looks like meat spaghetti 😅 The mixed berries were also delicious!

Ice cream is very tasty, especially the lavender ice cream. The Nutella ice cream could taste a little more like Nutella, otherwise everything was great. Prices are justified for the location and city.

We were here because we had followed the success story of the owners/emigrants on TV. Unfortunately the emigrants were not there. The quality of the ice cream is excellent, as is the price. If youre upset in Germany that a scoop of ice cream costs €1.20, then you should go here. Okay, the ball is bigger than in Germany, but $6.50 is steep, even with the good quality. If I were a big ice cream eater, I would look for another shop. Once in my life $6.50 is enough for me.

Yesterday we went to this super delicious ice cream shop, known from goodbye Germany. The ice cream is very good, although very expensive for our European standards!! Definitely worth a visit if you are holidaying in this area.

Despite not using dairy products, the chocolate and vanilla flavors are rich and strong, making it recommended for vegans. I cant complain about the price or the staff, and its a great place to take a break on your way home from a walk at the pier.

Ice cream is very tasty. Unfortunately, the Gelato Angels store in Beverly Hills where we first went was closed and it wasnt noted anywhere (e.g. Google) - pointless driving around for 2 hours.
