We take all our cars to Furgersons for smog checks. Staff is super friendly and it is easy to make an appointment. Definitely call ahead so you dont have to wait. They dont try to oversell you on other service. Anything they have recommended has been confirmed by my regular mechanic.

Normally taking my car to the mechanic is not a pleasant experience, but not gonna lie this was a quick in and out. Everyone at Furgersons was so helpful. My car needed a smog check and they were able to squeeze me in even though I did not have an appointment. The guy in the front was able to explain what would be done and said he would do his best to get my car in as soon as possible. I was expecting to be there for the rest of the afternoon while I waited for my car to be squeezed in but surprisingly they were able to do it all and I was driving away in about an hour. I definitely recommend this shop, everyone is really nice and make you feel welcome while taking care of your car.

These guys are awesome. I had an old 4Runner that was having a bunch of issues. Not only did they give me a super honest and thorough diagnosis of what was going on but they were able to source a lot of parts for me and get it all squared away. Shout out to Evan too for being an absolute legend and calling me on the phone with updates as the repairs progressed, his knowledge and experience was tremendous. It runs like a champ now and I’d definitely recommend this place.

First time customer. I needed a state brake and light inspection along with smog. Evan walked me through the entire process. It was a tough one. My vehicle used to be a police Tahoe. So the lights didn’t work like a regular model. Evan found a solution and executed a plan to reprogram the computer. Other needs were also found during the inspection process. Although I love to discount shop for allot of stuff.When it comes to my beloved Honda Odyssey Van, I dont take any chances.Furgesons Garage has been around for years. Had front struts put in early this year. Started feeling and hearing a noise in the front right when going over certain kinds of bumps/ rough road. Evan at Furgersons’ had his team drive the same road I had driven so they would duplicate the sound. They wound up changing out the strut at no charge under their warranty guarantee.

We have been using this business for at least twenty years, always taking both of our vehicles here. No more. Today I call for a simple battery replacement, it’s over six years old, and an oil change. The very first thing E tried to do was upsell me an $84 battery service to test it and “then go from there.” We are done.

I took my truck in for the required brake and light inspection needed for a salvaged vehicle to get back on the road legally. So they kinda got you there it seems. The manager told me his senior technician actually helps write the code for California and as such I must say he was incredibly through. He failed me for so many things including the cargo light, trailer adapter, and drive shift indicator among other seemingly irrelevant things. I’m not really sure how those make the vehicle safe or not, but what was really concerning is that upon re-inspection elsewhere it was pointed out to me that the truck had the wrong brake rotors installed in it. Undersized and dangerous. That is very concerning to me.The other shop was much friendlier, half the price, and seemed to be more concerned with the safety of the vehicle and not so much about proving how “great” they are at finding little blemishes. What a joke.I passed BTY. My 99 dodge diesel 4x4 2nd gen is back in action. What a truck! Love it. (Well my son actually drives it)

L have been taking my car to Furgersons ever since I moved to Carlsbad in the fall of 2019. I cannot recommend them highly enough. I live in a retirement community and Furgersons was recommended to me by several of the residents because of their excellent service and willingness to drive you back and forth while your car is being serviced. For those of us senior citizens who may not have family in the area, the drive back and forth is really important. All personnel are knowledgeable and friendly and their rates are very reasonable. Try them! Youll never use anyone else again.

Over the last 1 ½ years I was first introduced to Furgerson’s excellent service with a smog check and oil change. That experience sold me, plus speaking to their long-time loyal customers in the waiting room! In May ’19, Service Advisor Evan Todd provided a detailed review of my ’99 Camry’s auto inspection report: he used understandable language and he prioritized maintenance suggestions for my safety and my vehicle’s smooth running. He showed respect for my budget. Without any pressure, he suggested 3 possible service plans, each with a different cost and ideal timeline to complete. My choice of plans, including installation of new tires, was expected to take a full day, possibly 1 ½ days. By mid-afternoon of the first day’s work, Evan phoned to ask if the car could be kept overnight to allow a full post-maintenance inspection the next morning. I have complete confidence in Evan Todd’s integrity and recommendations. And I’m happy to have all future auto work done by any one of the ASE Certified Technicians. Thank you!

Overpriced and charged full price for a service that wasnt completed, because they said it was undrivable even though I drove into the shop. I went to another shop and got the work done for half of the cost. A trustworthy mechanic is hard to come by nowadays. I usually fix my truck on my own and after they said what they wanted to charge me for repairs and diagnostics, I got my truck out of there. I see that it has happened to other reviewers as well, so Im not alone.

Quick and Easy Smog Check! Having never used them before, they quoted me the lowest price for a smog check at $30 for my 4-door sedan. The were friendly, professional, and had me in-and-out within a half hour. The total due was what I was quoted, no games or tricks. I would feel most comfortable going back to Furgersons Garage for future auto services. Thank you!

I adjusted my review since after I did the oil change and routine check. The pulsation is very strong and I can’t well control my car at high speed and downhill. I agree with they did a good service but the car was suffered more serious problem after the maintaining. I spent another $90 to warped my front brake. Now my car is no pulsation problems.

I brought my 2000 Camry here for a check engine light. I had previously been given over a $3000 estimate for a purge valve repair and catalytic converter replacement from a Toyota service center. Evan recommended that they did their own assessment of the error code, which I wasnt sure was necessary at the time. As it turns out, they discovered that the techs from Toyota had made a mistake in their original assessment of the vehicle. After getting the recommended service from Furgersons, my car passed its smog check and the check engine light has been resolved for just over $420. Evan also made sure I was well informed of the entire process from start to finish and was nothing but courteous for the duration of my service. I would absolutely recommend Furgersons to anyone in need of service.

Ive had several unexpected car issues recently. I had originally taken my car to another shop, where I had a TERRIBLE experience. I came out of that upset, to say the least, and very stressed out. When I had another car issue (after spending $1000 already just the week before, at the first shop), I went to Furgesons, as Id heard good things about them. I had to have my car towed there. They took my car in right away, called me within a couple of hours with a diagnosis, got the work done in a timely matter and did the work well, and followed up with me through each stage of the process. I never had to chase them for updates. The price for the work and parts was reasonable.What meant MOST to me through this experience, though, was the customer service. After having an upsetting time with the first shop I went to, it was so refreshing that the folks at Fergusons (especially Tom, who was handling my car) were so kind, communicative, and talked me through everything. I know very little about cars and I find that many shops and auto stores are really condescending. But Tom was not--he explained everything, talked to me about the big picture, and was honest with his recommendations. He didnt try to talk me into doing things my car didnt need.I will definitely continue to go to Furgesons.

Update: A month after my initial work with Fergusens garage, my AC compressor started making noise, turns out it was dying and would seize up eventually, when it failed completely it would leave me stranded. Replacing it in my car (2001 Honda Civic) would have cost $1,200!Fergusens was able to find a way to bypass the AC compressor altogether for a fraction of the cost!Previous review: Evan clearly explained everything that needed to be done on my car and why, and most importantly, I trust him. Everyone I interacted with seems very genuine.Ill be back when I need more work done for that reason alone.

Went in for a quote and they were insanely higher and overpriced for a simple ac service and he told me it could be even as expensive as replacing my car ... absolutely just a sales guy because sadly I have worked in sales and know dishonesty when I see it and exactly the reason I got out of it . If you think you paying for quality and that’s why it’s expensive please check around because there are some very honest people who need the support way more than this shop during the pandemic we are in . Huge scammers - they added ridiculous charges and treated me like I was a moron. I walked in, told them the starter motor was dead (which I knew because I did all the tests already), battery was fine, and that I could tow the car to them from around the corner. They added $70 to my bill to figure out what the problem was (it was the starter, the tests took 5 seconds), and then when I argued, they justified it because they moved the car a half a block for free. The repair itself was 20% more expensive than every other shop, so I ended up walking out paying 33% more overall.Just as a last note, just to prove that theyre super shady - I saw on their computer screen that they paid $120 for the motor, yet on my bill they wrote $240 for parts - a common tax dodge, since theyre supposed to be paying taxes on labor and get deductions for business expenses.Really awful people. They take advantage of people. Do not recommend.

The smog check was performed several months ago but here goes. I brought in my 1999 Ford Ranger truck for smog. They did the check work then the service rep and mechanic had this little talk after which the service rep told me it failed, that a tiny vac hose to the heater control was off so it failed. I asked about repair and they said they would need to look up the part and they would call me later with an estimate. I decided to find out what the part might be at Ken Gordy Ford parts dept. The parts rep came outside to look for himself, looked at at the detached hose and asked if I would drive it over to the service dept. to have them look at it which I did. Service manager went and got a mechanic, he came out, looked under the hood and took the small hose, attached it to where it needed to go and said there you go, no charge I asked if they did smog checks, yes they did and so I got it smoked there. Furgersons told me it would cost me the same $39.00 for a re-test..No Way! I asked them, when Ken Grody Ford was done with my Smog Check, for my money back but NO was the answer. I called A.B.R. to file report feeling that I got had which they did investigate and Furgersons was with in their rights doing what they did but the Agent told me he told them this was very bad public relations, they could have either put the hose back before doing the smog check work (knowing it was going to fail anyway) or told me to go get it fixed first, or inform me they could put the hose back for a small fee and then do the smog check..I had been a customer for 8 years..but not any more..If you choose to go there for service make sure you inspect your vehicle for any loose vac hoses or warning lights that might be on first. These guys will take your money first and then fail your car all along knowing it was going to fail before they even get started with the testing process..They should rename their shop the flim flam repair shop...

Would not trust them.. They took advantage of my older parents, which upsets me to no end.The Car - A 1999 Lexus with only 67,055 miles on it..WHAT HAPPENED:1.) Suggested that a valve cover leak was required to be repaired, but there is ZERO oil leaking in the garage where this car is stored. There may have been seeping around the gasket, but clearly no leaks. Just like a cork in a bottle, showing red half way up, but no leaks. Overchange = $483.002.) They also replace brakes, the OE brakes were done at 49,000 miles, leaving these only with 17,000 miles on them. $325.00Lastly, they charged $330 labor only to replace a timing belt and suggested that Waterpump, all pulleys, really need to be as well for an additional... So for a very basic job they netted $2,667.00 for a car with a total value nearly that low and with only 67,000 miles on it - These people took advantage of an older couple in there 80;s and I hope they rot!!
