It’s a taqueria with a compact menu. The interior is clean and simple, basic. But I sure dig their barbacoa… both the chili verde and chile colarado. It has a good depth of flavors. I’ve also had the carnitas here, not too shabby either.The food is in temperature controlled trays behind a glass counter. The staff will create your order with your preferred proteins and fixings right before your eyes. They press warm the tortillas for the tacos and burritos.They have complimentary chips and salsa which is self serve. The salsa bar serves up four different kinds, no pico de gallo though. But they do have salsa verde. It’s darn tasty.

The twins with the eyeliner both provided excellent service. When my child was throwing a tantrum they both soothed her and were incredibly nice. Great experience and food will be coming back and have already recommended this to my whole family and friends! Go to place in placerville!! Must try!!!

Easily customizable burrito options. Can visualize most fast-food mexican chains, like Chipotle, but the food quality is fresh and far superior. The restaurant is also consistently very clean and normally uncrowded.

Horrible. Fermented Jamaica,and watered down. Corn tortilla was put on a grill press for 2 seconds. Un toasted corn tortilla was flimsy and nasty cause all the meat fell through. Soggy street taco. How do you mess up a street taco! Placerville needs to step up their Mexican Food Game.Owners should be ashamed.. and they are Latino. Just horrible.

The food is fantastic, as long as you order IN the restaurant. Weve ordered online 3 different times and it has never been as ordered. Something is always missing off the food ordered. Come to the store and your order will be great.

Best Mexican food in Placerville! They have the best breakfast burrito, the Norcal, with steak, eggs, bacon, cheese and potato. A really nice salsa bar too. The Jamaica tea is delicious and the churros are the best weve ever had! They have a filling! So good! Looking forward to coming back to try more of the food. Friendly, fast service. Typically Ill leave a review if its a great place; however, thats not the case this time. I placed an order online and was emailed that it would be ready in 15 minutes. I arrived 15 minutes later to find that they didnt even see my order because the order wasnt printed out is what she said. It was like pulling teeth to get more information from her regarding my order and she couldnt even give me a time of when it would be ready. Meanwhile the family is hungry and now grumpy. I would suggest to either order in the store or avoid this place altogether.Update: placed order at 5:47 p.m. and didnt get the food until 6:30 p.m. yikes.

I love freshmex Placerville, it is my familys go to Mexican eatery, definitely one of the best Mexican restaurants in the Sierra Nevada foothills. The reason it is our favorite is because of the insanely amazing salsa bar(That is Free), it has a fantastic habanero green salsa that makes the whole meal. Also their Chipotle sauce adds a whole other taste level, the thing is you have to ask for it to be put on your tacos, burritos, or salad.

I ordered the nachos from their online menu when my in laws said they were going to pick up food from there and bring it home. I.. dont even know how to describe this but Im going to try. When I opened the container to pull one of the chips out, the cheese was as hard as a rock and the chips were half soggy and half solid. Nothing would stick to the chip even after I tried mixing it around with a fork which only made it worse and spilled all over myself trying to mix it together. So I gave up on that and just tried to eat the half soggy chips since nothing would stick to it and I couldnt get the cheese or anything on it by trying to dip it. So I was just eating the chips and then my stomach started to churn and make noises. I assumed my body was just having trouble digesting at first but as I kept eating I started to feel nauseated and decided to throw it away because it was making me feel sick. I felt really bad because it was not a cheap menu item and they bought it for me but as a result, Im going to have to opt out from ordering here again. I dont think its food poisoning but it definitely made me feel really sick to my stomach and with how everything was solid and clumped, there was no sensible way to eat it and Id define it as inedible. I dont know how common this is for this restaurant and Im not willing to risk it again.

The flavors exploded on my palate, a delightful symphony of taste.It wasnt until I had devoured the entire meal that I felt an ominous rumbling in my stomach. Panic set in as I realized that something was terribly wrong. Sweating profusely, I left the restaurant and got home as quickly as I could.Inside my home bathroom, a drama of gastrointestinal proportions unfolded. Ill spare you the graphic details, but suffice it to say that my visit to the Mexican restaurant had taken a turn for the worse. This has become my go-to restaurant. I couldnt possibly express how much I love the burritos here, the quality and freshness of the food is absolutely beyond satisfactory. When were not so hungry my bf and I split a burrito, chips and salsa, and a couple of modelos and eat on the patio. Its our weekend ritual at this point. I would recommend this place to anyone who likes amazing food!

I have lived near this restaurant in Placerville for 10+ years. Finally decided to give it a try for lunch...I would not recommend it. I called prior to ordering to find out if the chicken was white meat chicken and was told yes it was...no it was not, it was brown chicken. I also added avacado, not guacamole to the order, they added guacamole instead which I paid for. To top it all off, there was a hair in my food. Absolutely awful.

We were at target getting random stuff and decided to try a new place for dinner bc it was getting late. We called three times with no answer but we saw they were open from the parking lot, so my wife placed an online order since we couldnt get an answer, and chose the pick up now option. After that it gave us a time of 206 minutes before pickup, which since we ordered at 712 pm must have meant 26 minutes bc they closed at 9 pm right? 206 minutes for tacos and burritos is a joke. We waited 30 minutes to pick it up with my kids in the van going crazy. When I came in to pick it up they acted like they didnt have our order at all and then after some scrolling on their tablet they said oh yeah its not ready but we can make it now, and I said absolutely not, I want a refund, and left. After waiting a few minutes and seeing no refund, I called them. After 3 times going to a full voice mailbox they picked up and said they couldnt give me a refund for an online order and Id have to contact a 3rd party and wait 3 to 4 days to get 40 dollars back. I never tasted the food, but when I went in it looked average at best, and based on the service it cant be very good. We will never give this place another chance, there are plenty of other mexi places near by. Everyone is hungry, my kids are yelling, my wife and I are not very happy either to say the least. They have major problems with their website if it allows you to make an order for picking up now and then youd have to pick it up an hour and a half after the place closes, and edit 4 days for your refund. Idiotic.

We ordered from Fresh Mex via Door Dash to try something new. We ordered bowls instead of burritos so that my family could avoid gluten. They provided burritos instead of bowls. After calling them about this, they said they were sorry but “the manager was too busy”. We will be going to Chipotle in the future.Thankfully, Door Dash gave us a refund, and the food that we could eat was good.

Large quantities of fresh flavorful food, though the prices reflect the larger portion sizes. Salsa bar is typically well stocked with a wide variety of salsas that not only have spice, but flavor too.They tend to serve the beans and meats with a bit of liquid still in the spoon, so be ready to need to sit down and eat your burrito with a fork- or just get it as a bowl.

I have eaten here several times so this review is NOT based on a single visit. The tacos are so-so and the salsa bar is always a mess, but my most recent experience broke the camels back. There is a daily special from 4 to 6 - buy a two taco combination and get an extra taco free. Below this it says, excluding shrimp taco.. So I order the two SHRIMP taco combo and ask for the chicken taco as the freebie.That deal doesnt work for shrimp tacos!Yeah, I know thats why I am paying for the shrimp taco combo plate but not getting a shrimp taco for free.No. It doesnt work for shrimp tacos.So, let me get this straight. You would rather I buy a CHEAPER combo plate of, say, chicken tacos and then get my extra chicken taco free?Yes.Never going back

The staff was very impatient and rude.
