I love the library itself, the cleanliness, the space, and the events held here BUT its the loudest library ive ever been in. I mean, people using there outside voices where the acoustics make your voice radiate into areas where people are trying to read and study is quite annoying. What ever happened to the librarian of old that went around saying shhh to people having a high decibel conversation? We live in a time where its not implied that you need to be quiet in a place of reading and studying.

Teens volunteer at the library for various activities. Library lists how many seats are available to volunteer and we have to book in advance to get a seat for volunteering and it is hard to find a seat at the table when there is lot of competition for certain activities.In some cases, while we volunteer, number of kids volunteering for that activity exceed the seats listed at the beginning. Looks like some kids get preferential treatment and attend activities without booking at the beginning or find some other way to sneak in to that activity.There is no proper reasoning given by the library staff why the number of people exceed the original number of seats. Since there is tough competition for certain activities, often we dont get to volunteer and wanted to raise awareness to the common public and hence putting this post.

I Like this Library! Any library in the Bay Area are great EXCEPT for the Union City & The Hayward Weekes branch in Patrick avenue in which these two libraries are dilapidated outdated and time capsules that going in these libraries is akin to going back in early 80’s. This Fremont main library is Modern and plenty of free public computers you can use for studying / Research and it’s wifi signal is superb and fast. Tons of books in this library but you’ll need to watch for homeless people from the outside of the building for they use this library for shade. Lock your car if parking here….

The staff is nice and and I can find whatever I want to read. The staff is very kind and organized. They can tell you about books similar to what you read. They have a book review program that you write about a book and you get a tattoo or eraser or something.

Place is huge and its awesome. Its like a 5 min walk from the ac transit line 99 bus stop by Kaiser.Its beautiful and big. Bathrooms are nice.2 floors. And its long cool part is you have the lake right next to it.One of the best places I seen so far.Plenty of parking Alameda county library.

Nice library with lots of space and friendly staff. The 2-hour laptop checkouts are great, and Ive had lots of good memories coming here since first grade.Only thing is that opening hours are a bit weird; nearly each day of the week has different hours so it would be a good idea to double-check. No comment about the bathrooms.

This is a clean library to visit. Test preparation books can be found on the first floor, on the very back aisle (making a left) just before the Welcoming kiosk. On the second floor, as you exit the elevator, you can find the business management books all the way in the back aisle.

I like coming here during finals week and during midterms. I find this place quit and really easy place for me to consintrated and foucus on my work. And you will be able to find a wide section of books and movies as this library is huge. The only problem I have is that this is main libary and is pretty big that can cause it to be packed. I like sitting in the the coner and away from people where I am not destarrcted by people watching and where I can focus more and there is a lot of setting in conner seating and with a lot of seating they dont have has much outlet plugs which can make it difficult for people who have dying laptops. But the other thing I like about this library is that you can print for 10 cents. I would recommend this library if your looking to get away and looking to a place to read or study.

The Wi-Fi is absolutely ridiculous here, as I believe it’s the same at all AC library branches. It requires you to click the “agree” button every hour or so… never seen any other public Wi-Fi network be so obnoxious!To the people complaining about homeless in the reviews: there’s lots of homeless, everywhere. Complaining about hygiene does nothing but make you look petty. Maybe go somewhere other than a library, which is one of the only places these people can go during the day where they won’t get hit with a trespassing charge. It’s called compassion and empathy.That being said, the staff has none either. Some of the rudest group of people I’ve encountered here in the Bay Area. If you can’t handle the job, maybe don’t work at the library. Also, having one staff member to assist with the book checkouts sure would speed things along. Can’t imagine how children are supposed to figure out self-checkout on their own.Finally, the selection is rather lacking. I only added a second star because the kids section looks pretty large, and I love the wing that’s full of historical California stuff. Some day I want to make an appointment to browse in there! If you’re learning a foreign language, go somewhere else. Not worth your time at all.

It’s amzing library for kids. They have wide selection of books to choose from. Also, they have wonderful story time for infants. Just love the teacher...she is so full of enthusiasm considering her age...just love n miss her since we moved to Texas. I took my lo from 8 mo up to 17 mo for story time there n we just loved it. Would definitely recommend for all kiddos.

The Fremont Main Library is one of the most magical places in Fremont. For a teen like me, the AC Library is a goldmine, filled with information packed books. The wide selection, reading spaces, and helpful staff all make the library very worth visiting. The only sad part is that many students dont visit the library often. They dont know what theyre missing out on.

Most underrated place ever.Large selection of books, movies, videos, and cassettes. Their librarian as well as volunteers are very knowledgeable. They have community programs, which I have not been able to take advantage of.Study rooms are on a first come first serve basis. You can find lots of spaces to study or just do work.They make it incredibly easy for one to request, check out, and renew books online. The library system also has great online resources too.It would be great if they got a 3D printer, similar to how Sunnyvale has at theirs.

Great place to come with kids. A lot of books for all ages here. Nice reading area, activity area where you can play with your kids. There are some nice board games kept as well. Library also conducts some activities every week or so and most of the activities are very nice.

Great location, just next to the Fremont central park. You can walk to the lake in a sunny day. It is beautiful and pleasant. The lib has a great kid activities zone, which has a lego land and kitchen zone inside. We love taking our son here.

For a public library to run this well is good to see. Staff is helpful given how many crazy people they have to deal with. People ask them a thousand questions and make all kinds of requests but staff is still responding so well.Request to residents of fremont - respect the library rules and staff. It will be good for long lasting great experience. State funding for arts, schools and libraries is going down each year. We still get this benefit. Dont abuse it.And vote in every state level election so you elect a politician who is good for arts and literature. Voting is important. Dont complain later on if the new politician reduces funding even more.

It was really easy to get a library card. The staff is friendly and extremely helpful. I looked for a biography and didnt notice the sign, but the rather than point that out, the staff member generously showed me where to find it. Check out is simple and all self serve. Impressively, you can check out a lot of items at a time.

The Fremont Main Library has been one of my favorite places to study. As a long time patron, I especially love the extended hours it is now open. Some of the librarians can get gruff, making it not worth my while to ask my question(s).My only complaint is the amount of non-hygienic odor that can make an entire section of the library unsuitable for studying. This is a tough thing to address, as the homeless are entitled to occupy public places like our libraries. I saw the odor problem mentioned by another reviewer. Maybe collaborating with other urban libraries to see how they deal with this strong odor issue is a possibility.In any regard, I love my local library and its beautiful facility. Everyone should work together so that everyone can enjoy it equally. :-)

Very helpful staff. To still have a public library in this day and age is very gratifying to me. Some of us dont have the newest and best technology at our beck and command, and I enjoy being able to go and use a computer, look at a book, with ideas Ive not heard before, and to see the microcosm of society is great.I was living in my car during The Great Recession and the Public Library was one of the few places I could go to just spend time that didnt cost me money. The homeless are among us, even if we choose not to interact with them, or even see them, or acknowledge their existence. Give them a break.

Excellent helpful librarian staff (other than not maintaining QUIET as a library should)!. Computers generally available. Hours limited due to budget. At least different schedules allow access to people who have different schedules (I disagree with comments that hours should be the same every day). Too many still readable books are discarded; crazy waste of money! Is someone getting a payoff (money or meals or gifts or trips to buy replacements?). Homeless smell & germs are a major problem. They live inside during open hours, & sleep in front outside at night. Why dont police move/remove them at night? Maybe during the day have rooms there with cots for them to encourage them not to be in study rooms & throughout library? Maybe a free shower room for them to for removing some of the odor? It would help BOTH the homeless AND regular library patrons. (You cant remove the homeless because laws entitle them to also be there). I believe Alameda County can & should increase funding for more library hours. I suggest minimum ST/SN/W 9A-5P, M/TH 12-8P, TU/F 1-9P (of course 9A-9P every weekday would be great). btw, I see many comments with the word timings; the proper word in English is scheduling. There was also a comment about when small children have nap time; there is no single normal nap time in America plus there are other local libraries with large collections of childrens books.

I never been to a library in USA. But when i see this Fremont Main Library, it is just an awesome feeling. They have so many facilities other than books and newspapers. They have the copy, scan and internet systems available at a damn cheap cost(when compare with FedEx and UPS). Considering with the environment, it has the park like atmosphere and surroundings looks pretty much good. I am planning to go and have a full day visit to this.

New book return procedure and push-door slot. Allow time to scan your returns. The computer system will often ask you to rescan books several times. The vacuum system speeds things up but does not feed the books in straight without fail. No alert was given about the new procedure.

The study rooms are usually unoccupied. From the Cat In The Hat to Mangas. This library is a bookworm’s Heaven. I love the books where children who entered the You g Authors books. I entered mine before, and as expected, it didn’t win. I loved writing and getting inspiration from the books here. You won’t be dissatisfied!

Especially in Children collection where beginner reading books are very old...Also The number of Adults and Children fiction might be increased. It is very hard get new fiction releases.

This is a great library - Fremont communitys hub for learning and development. It is located in a beautiful place and quite a large one too for Bay Area standards. I visited this library with my two kids to borrow couples of books, I tried to check out with one of Kiosks, however it didnt let me process, so I had to line up in front of the help desk at the main entrance.And when it was my turn, I went to see the staff at the help desk, however the man who just finished his questions in front of me, came back and started asking some quick question to the staff, so I decided to wait right behind of him since I didnt want to be rude by urging him to finish and also it didnt seem like taking too much time, And then I heard somebody yelled at me from my back by saying ONE LINE!, I SAID ONE LINE!!. It was a lady sitting at the reception desk and she was literally yelling at me in front of more than dozens of people standing and waiting in their lines.I tried to figure out what just happened however I couldnt believe someone yelled at me in a public place just like that, but I tried to explain to her that I had been lined up, however I didnt get a chance to explain to her, since she didnt want to listen to me, and again there was one more yelling ONE LINE in a very loud and now a rather hostile tone.Working on Sunday might not be pleasant experience, however being yelled at public library in front of people, especially with your two kids might not be the pleasant experience neither.

The Fremont Main Library is an awesome library. Very helpful team of people serving there. Vast array of collections. I have been to other libraries such as the British Council. Dear Fremont Library, please consider making a change on registration via online should ONLY be open for enrollment at the week of the eventNOT 1,2,3,4 months in advance! That’s just beyond outrageous and it prevents other children for experienceing events that same kids keep experiencing. It’s no fair for other children. I’m very sad with Fremont Library! The way they design their events that required you to register your child is always full because all of the Indians are always taking over seats registering their children 2 to even 3 months in advance so the registration is always full. This prevents other students who also want to participate in their events... its not fair for other children.. please do something about it... please make some changes regarding that.. thank you..

Used to love taking my kids to this library but the homeless problem in and around the library is an issue. My son went to use the restroom and there was a shopping cart and transient in the restroom. As a parent, it makes me a bit uncomfortable.

Certainly there is a book or two on the shelves at the Fremont Main Library regarding hospitality, manners, social courtesies. HIGHLY recommend it to the (male) employee at the Member Services counter- especially since he is one of the first people you see upon entering the building, and serves as a face of the library. Also, would request that the manager of the facility have a daily team meeting with the staff to review/educate expectations, standards, and goals re: first impressions, customer service, mannerisms, how to present themselves to the public, behavior that is okay and what is NOT okay, AND lastely (hate to have to include this one too) hygiene 101. Come on people! The world is a competitive place. Social media reviews are our go to. Everyone is allowed a bad day. However, if youre going to pose as an employed educated adult, check your attitude at the door and act like one while on the clock at your job. That behavior was NOT okay!! Horrible first impression!!

I see a lot of people complaining about the homeless at this location. I for one think it is a good thing. Fremont has never been a very tolerable place for the less fortunate,. Homeless people should not be treated like lepers. Everyone needs a place to go to feel safe. Fremont library has made a samctuary of knowledge for all people and i commend this location for that. I went to have my income tax done by VITA free tax prep. Offered by the IRS. They are a group of volunteers offering free Services for low income. I think this is my 3rd year going to them but Ive had no problems. Their service is very appreciated.

I recently moved from NJ to Northern California to take up a new position. First of all, I cannot believe this library belongs in the Bay area. It is extremely hard for me to understand how any library operating in/near Silicon Valley can operate with internet speeds of 0.93 Mbps (see image below). The timings are inconsistent from day to day and to not allow for any sort of planing for its patrons (Sunday:1 p.m. - 5 p.m., Monday:1 p.m. - 9 p.m., Tuesday:1 p.m. - 9 p.m., Wednesday: 12 Noon - 6 p.m., Thursday:11 a.m. - 6 p.m., Friday: 11 a.m. - 6 p.m., Saturday:10 a.m. - 5p.m.). The weirdest of timings for kids as well - story time for kids is at 1:30PM (isnt that nap time for most kids?). It almost feels like the library timings are designed so that as few people as possible make it to the library...which is the exact opposite of what a library should be doing!!When I reached there during opening time, kids were rushing it to get in to some of the very few (I counted just 5) study rooms. Two of the study rooms were occupied by homeless people. While I am totally in agreement that all citizens must receive equal service, why can the library not provide more study rooms is beyond me. I saw tons of kids who were longing to get a seat but could not find any place to sit. I am sorry, but this is a sorry excuse of a library. The chairs in the library seem to be Goodwill rejections, the sofa covers are slimy and there is no silent area in this library. How the city planners cannot get themselves to fund a good library while being so close to knowledge capitals of the world is..well, appalling. One only needs to go to a place like Livermore to see what an amazing library they have and the facilities they provide.Come on Fremont, you can do better. Put your tax dollars to better use than that stodgy blingy art fixture that you have close to the library entrance...

I guess the city/state is cutting down on cost so they are reducing library hours and most people come after work to the library but a good number of us would appreciate a library that opens early. If I am not mistaken, Sunnyvale library opened earlier in the morning. I hope this changes sooner.

The staff is helpful but the amount of homeless people making themselves at home shoes off sleeping talking loudly on cell phones blocking bookshelves especially in the large print section and refusing to move every time I take my elderly mother there :( its really sad this could be a great library if they would enforce some rules . Also took my daughter to an event for kids reading to dogs and it was cancelled without notice a lot of disappointed kids . With all the money in Fremont I expect more ....

This library needs funds, with housing prices the way they are in this area and a new high end mall, its disappointing. The place has potential but Im coming from Phoenix Main Library in Arizona which makes this place seem like a studio apartment compared to Disneyworld. I grew up in Fremont and remember when this library opened. It used to be nice. No homeless people and decent hours. I wanted to take my kids here to show it off but we dont go to the library after lunchtime and Im not going to go do storytime with homeless people in our library. Its just not appropriate. Fremont has gone downhill. Ive moved back to the bay and this is exactly one reason why I wouldnt live in Fremont again. These Silicon Valley cities have so much money flowing through tech but the infastructure is awful. Ive lived in Las Vegas and Seattle and their infastructure was much better. Where is the taxpayer money going?

Which library opens at 1:00 pm? I want to take my toddler to do some reading and play but the timings are odd. While the books and resources are fair, the way this library operates is beyond my imagination! Please, open the freaking place early in the day..!!Is it me or am I noticing this trend of odd hour schedules in this Tri-city area? Newark Recreation Center (Siliman Aquatic) also operates between 12:30 and 5:30 on weekends and with bizzare timings on weekdays like 6-9, 2-4 etc. on the same day for swimming. What are they thinking??! .. that people have all the time to work around their weird timings??

Thousands of books have been discarded and thrown into dumpsters by the Alameda County Library Administration. (17500+) They have done this without input from the taxpayer-investors of our libraries. This means our libraries are devoid of older books, lack breadth and depth of knowledge. Contact the Library administration Mr. Randy McDevitt-Parks, and Ms. Cindy Chadwick to let them know that you are not happy with the direction in which they are taking our libraries.
