My dad runs a local mom and pops shop restaurant in Brooklyn New York. The accountant we typically use closed down and I was scrambling to find a new one. Flex Tax is awesome. They are very organized, professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. I worked with Chris to resolve an issue from two tax years ago (2021) and to file last years taxes (2022). I had talked to four H&R block advisors and another tax consultant about my 2021 taxes, but none of them were able to figure out what was going on. Chris not only identified details that everyone else missed, he helped me figure out a process of resolving it that required less money from me. Filing 2022 taxes was simple, and he had helpful recommendations to make next years tax return easier. Also since they operate almost fully online (over email and e-sign) I was able to file my 2019 taxes without having to take much time out of my schedule to go visit them in-person. I can recommend Flex Tax for your tax preparation needs. The associates are knowledgeable, friendly, and efficient with my time. I have been to Flex Tax for a quick consultation regarding to the RSU and ISO and a second time to file my tax returns for multi-states capital gain calculation. Flex Tax is a bright and big office and they take care of their customers quickly at through email and online platform. I had scheduled an appointment with Alex just 1 week out.My taxes are complicated, and I wanted an experts opinion and the ease of having someone prepare the documents for me. Alex answered all my questions and helped me get the tax return done right. My experience with Flex Tax was far from what other reviews address. They offer customers $30 discount for 5 star review and so the reviews are not trustworthy.I worked with two Alex and Will to do my 2021 tax return. They keep communication fairly minimal. They didnt tell me when they would be working on my tax, and they didnt even care to inform me that my tax was filed, until I asked them right before the due day.They sent me a draft a week before tax due with lots of errors. It was super stressful and I had to look very carefully what went wrong. It turns out Will didnt include several key information (medical insurance, bank info, foreign account, etc) which I already provide in a questionnaire. From other review, Alex mentioned they would walk through the tax result with customers, which is not true! They only sent out the draft, asked for review, made an update, asked for signature, and done. They didnt care to talk to me anything more about my return. They didnt care to inform me that the tax return was filed.I set up for direct deposit for the tax return, and of course another software issue from Flex Tax got me paper refund instead. There might be more errors I didn’t notice in the tax return unfortunately. I gave them two stars because my tax was at least filed.

I am very happy with the service provided by Alex and Will. I was looking for a competent tax preparer to help file taxes on my brother’s estate. I talked with several tax preparers who claimed to be very knowledgeable but Alex was the only one who answered all my questions to my satisfaction. I was very impressed with the speed and efficiency with which they completed the estate income taxes. Not only did they get the taxes done expeditiously as promised, their rates were also very fair. They were competent and knowledgeable and knew the tax laws very well. Any time of the day, morning, noon or night, including weekends, whenever I had a question, I got answers to my questions sometimes immediately or sometimes within a very short time.. My brother’s estate was a little complicated as there were US and foreign beneficiaries involved. The foreign beneficiary needed to file a W-7 form and Alex and company are one of the few firms that are certified by the IRS to help clients fill out those firms including requests for original documents such as passports. I would highly recommend them.

(Updated) 3 years in and this team has gotten better over time. Ive worked with Alex (2020), Will (2021), and recently Chris (2022). Not sure why they move me around, my assumption is that they train associates, regardless, its been a great experience. Chris did a great job double checking everything this tax season and response rate was fast. This was also the first year I had personal crypto trading/transactions that required tax reporting. They have the experience to make sure you do this right and can offer you advice organizing things on your own or using one of their colleagues to sort things out for you.(2020 review)First time in years that I looked for a professional to do my individual tax return. I found them on Yelp. At first I was skeptical because everything was done through the phone, email, and their website. There is an option to meet with them after-hours for 15 minute slots.Great and seamless experience. Alex even answered emails and called me during the weekends. A&K Tax have one of the most tech-savvy CPAs in the Bay Area.Alex and Sam are phenomenal young tax and consulting accountants. I highly recommend them to anyone that is looking to establish a long term relationship with its CPA.I can say with my very own experience; they are very accommodating in terms availability and were able to schedule a meeting on a Friday evening at 8 pm in order to accommodate my work schedule. Nothing to write home about.... I used them for the first time this year and had an ok experience overall. Considering the high price I paid, they wouldnt answer a few basic tax related questions I had for them which is unfortunate. Not to mention, I had three different people working on my taxes during the course of two months which was hard to keep track of. Flex Tax has been doing our taxes for at least 6 years now. And the team is very informative and takes good care of us with the tax planning for business and individual . The accountants not only do our taxes, but also give us tips for how to manage our money throughout the year. Alex is the most experience person with the background with Public Trading and Private Start-Up Company, which really surprises me. Everyone is very personable and he makes it a lot easier to do a task that is normally a major pain in the you-know-what.Parking is pretty tough there though. On the street its on, its metered parking. If you park on the street parallel itd not metered - i think its a 2 hr limit. They also dont take appointments so plan accordingly. Ive always taken time off to get there early enough to hopefully avoid a wait.

In the initial consultation session, he listened patiently to my financial situation (which was already a huge plus, my previous encounters with accountants were always rushed during these free sessions). I had some questions about the types of stocks my company issued me after we went public. After researching online about RSU, capital gains, and reading the contracts I signed for the stocks, I still could not determine whether these stocks would count as income or if I just needed to deal with that when I actually sold them. The Flex Tax team was able to review my contracts and clear things up. They also provided me projections on what I could expect to pay in taxes if I sold x shares. Flex Tax is very responsive and knowledgeable with the EIDL and PPP. The Treasury and the SBA have released new guidance for the PPP loan every day and Alex was able to walk through the steps to get me understand how to get the loan being forgiven. My start-up SAAS Company received 700K, and my payroll is about 300K, the team showed me steps I should take to stay compliance. We have 50 employees and hasn’t let go of anyone. I am counting on their advice and compliance work.

Im very pleased with Flex Taxs responsiveness and deep understanding and knowledge of taxes. Alex and Sam walked me through every step and helped explain some key tax points which I had no idea about. Its one thing to get an answer to your questions, but its even better to get the answer and additional helpful information that could translate into big savings down the line. Their experience with equity compensation was a huge plus as I was in dire need of getting a form 83(b) election filed. On top of that, I was thoroughly explained the differences within my package which included RSU, ISO, and NSO. Thank you for the swift work and attention to detail.
