What a pleasant surprise to walk into a storage unit office and find 2 ladies welcoming you warmly with big smiles on their faces. I could immediately tell they were happy to help me. Within 20 minutes Melanie had shown me 3 options, created a lease, took my payment and showed me access to my unit. Thank you for making this a very pleasant experience.

They get two stars for convenience due to them being 5 miles or less from my house so I can easily get her for supplies out of storage and third star is for cleanliness every time I go it’s clean and everything operating as it should and staff is very nice. They lose two stars because of the price I’m on auto pay so when I check my business statement monthly I notice the price hikes almost every month and it getting higher. If there was some where else close and cheaper I probably would move my items but hey I guess you pay for convenience.

Michelle offered excellent customer service skills and was of great help during my onsite visit. She assisted me and escorted me to my unit. The facility is clean and in seven years there never had a problem. Although the semi annual rent increases are a bit excessive from my point of view.

Store Manager Michelle Harrell was awesome. She did everything possible to make sure we had the unit we needed. We came in just before closing after finding out discrepancies caused by some misinformation from call center. She staid late helping us. I had reserved a space and then decided to cancel . Only because I was not ready to move out of my existing space yet . Looking for a safe place to store some things for yard sale in Spring. Michelle was on her feet, opened door and greeted me warmly and introduced herself. She immediately made me feel at ease and valued because she took time to find out exactly what my needs were. She showed a couple different options as price is definitely a factor. The spaces were extraordinarily clean (unexpected in a storage place). She explained the safety and security features, access times, everything I wanted to know. I will definitely be renting from Michelle next month.

We were delighted with our experience at this location. Melanie was great with our little one and we felt warm and invited when we entered the door. We were looking to quickly secure a long term lease and Melanie explained everything expertly and assured us of their fairly flexible cancellation/refund policies due to our tenuous situation.The facility itself seems decently secure with several camera feeds scrolling continuously in the office and a separate gate code for every unit. I did notice the gate seems to stay open fairly long which makes sense for large/slow trucks but could give an opportunity for piggybacking if entry isnt enforced or checked.I was pleasantly surprised that the in-office packaging supplies are not overpriced. Things like tape+holders, mattress bags, dishware padding, and other products are about as much as youd pay on Amazon without the wait. The actual unit locks they sell are a bit overpriced, but you can bring your own.Go talk to Melanie!

Doubled the rental fee after 3 months. Went from $77 to $154 for their smallest unit. No email, text or explanation why. Always got email before payment was due and a text when I paid it. Always paid on time and only visited unit 8 times total in those 3 months. Imagine suprise when I go to pay 3 days before its due. I guess they wanted me out that bad.

I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Kristina and Melanie, both of which were memorable experiences. Kristina was quick and thorough, made the whole registration process a breeze - which my anxiety very much appreciated! Melanie was warm and down to earth, addressed all reasons for my visit and had fantastic nails to boot! Even though it had been a busy morning and it was just calming down, she didn’t make me feel rushed and was very professional. Both ladies greeted me the moment I walked in the door and made me feel comfortable and relaxed about my visits. The communication from this facility, in my opinion, is above and beyond what I expected and what I know/have heard of others. This location is noticeably clean and well kept, the indoor units are cool and well ventilated, which was a major plus when making multiple trips back and forth. Carts were made readily available and easily assessable, elevator ran smoothly. I’ve left feeling impressed both times, and in huge part to Kristina and Melanie, I feel confident in my decision to store my items at this Extra Space Storage location in Livermore, CA. Oh! Lastly, being someone who has worked in customer service, particularly reception, both ladies have exceptional phone skills. I feel this location definitely stands out from the rest, and I’m looking forward to my future visits here!

The price has doubled since I got there. My 10x10 used to cost $156 and thats including $14 of insurance. Its gone up three times since. Now costing a whopping $295 a month and no end in sight! *UPDATE* Now $328 a month.Yet if you signed up today youd get in for a fraction of that. Dont let the bull**** reasons for the increase fool you since they have no problem letting people come in for far less.Oh and an unfortunate homeless person can stay rent free in the hallway of the units outside the gate when he wants (Looks real tidy and professional for the facility 🤷🏻‍♂️) While we get slowly constricted more and more for money till we cant take it.I plan to pull my stuff out ASAP!The only positive I have is the location. Across Vasco from me.

Great place for temporary storage and the property manager pretty much stay out of your way. It can get busy with other tenants tendering their storage and parking is a bit narrow. Gated entrance is not too secure with car piggybacking in/out once the gate is open.

I have been coming here for a little over a year now and it has been a great experience. I have lost my keys a few times and getting into my unit was never a problem. 20/10 for the people who work in the office they are beyond kind and helpful, you basically can’t ask for someone better to work with.I leave 4 stars only due the the consistent rate increases. I had a 10x10 for $180 to start 1.5 years ago and it ballooned up to $321, it was just too expensive for my personal budget. This price does not represent market rate, you can get a 10x10 at numerous locations in Livermore for about $150. Extra space storage has been price gouging.

I reserved a unit with outside access, however there is a parking spot directly in front of the door that is routinely occupoed. In order to be able to get large items or have direct access to the unit I will have to coordinate with the office so that they can have the vehicle moved. They offered to transfer to another unit, however they would not provide the unit at the same price that I had agreed to. The price they quoted was over 33% higher. Fortunately the storage unit is only going to be used for a short term.

Not only was the site easy-to-use, I got a wonderful rate during Memorial Day Weekend, and I was followed up with via phone call, I got to take a look at the unit before I signed any paperwork, and both Kristine and Melanie were able to answer any and all of my questions about insurance, access, and rates. I’ve been renting a unite from extra space storage for about five years now. I’ve had zero problems with the company. I own my own business and I come in late at night sometimes and I feel safe because it’s very well lit and the gate is always working, never had a problem. The place is always well-kept and the monthly fee is very reasonable for what you get. Kristina the manger is an angel. If everybody was like her the world would be a much better place. I’ve been impressed from the time I got my unit until now. This is a very clean, well lit, safe storage company with friendly staff. There are plenty of flat carts to move your items to your unit and the elevator is quick.I no longer need to store anything, but should I need to again, I will come back to Extra Space Storage. I was shown the unit and the grounds inside and out are clean. There were no weeds or any signs of neglect outside. Reserving and paying for a storage was easy and efficient. Melanie confirmed the appointment on the phone and Kristina completed the storage process with me. There were no surprises. Everything was explained clearly and they were kind. The keypads are not worn and work easily without having to force it. The inside is evenly lit and there are carts to help you move stuff in or out. Updated review:Disreputable business practice.The rate for the unit I rented lasted a whopping three months. THEN IT WAS RAISED WITHIN A FEW DOLLARS OF DOUBLING. Whoa!A mailing to my home address claimed the original rate was promotional, and the near-doubled rate (which was consistent with an evaluation of market conditions) would be effective for the next and subsequent months. First, this was surprising news to me: there was NEVER any discussion that the original rate was promotional and could be raised so dramatically within months -- truly not one word from the person working the desk. Second, which one is it, Extra Space? Promotional rate or market adjustment? You cant just make a rate promotional after the fact because you want to extort more money. The companys communication tries to cover it legally for the increase, but conflates topics in a shady way.The simple matter is that, IF ANY CUSTOMER IS BEING GIVEN A PROMOTIONAL RATE, THAT CUSTOMER SHOULD KNOW THE TERM AND EXACTLY WHAT THE RATE WILL BE THEREAFTER. It should be verbally discussed and textually listed on the contract. Not here. None of the above. Extra Space Storage sent a surprise mailing and named their price after my stuff was already moved in. That is not how it should go.Had I known the potential for a very-high rent increase in quick order, I WOULD NOT HAVE RENTED HERE. The advertised rate was the single biggest factor in why I picked this place. I am a smart and educated person, but I fell victim to an apparent bait and switch. What could the rent be three months from now as Extra Space endeavors to provide value (to its owners)? Quadruple the recent doubling? Is the only ceiling the eight feet in the unit?This is the fourth storage I have rented in my lifetime. Never an experience like this. Perhaps the state AGs office should know: there apparently needs to be additional regulation/consumer protection. Ugh.----Original review (which was requested by the front desk person that I leave):Stopped in after looking over the available units on the web. Super easy to begin a dialog and find the right unit for my needs. Melanie at the front was super fun and a great help.The location here is easy: just off Vasco near the highway. This place was great and I would definitely use them again if I ever needed a storage unit in Livermore. It was fast and easy to sign up and even easier to move out. The staff were helpful, didnt pressure me into signing up for things I didnt want, and explained everything I needed to know very clearly. Minimal paperwork, no annoying emails or unnecessary phone calls but they also contacted me when appropriate. Everything on site was always very clean and theres plenty of room to maneuver your vehicle. I stored my stuff here for several years in an outdoor drive-up unit, and was very happy that none of my artwork, furniture, or clothes got damaged by heat, humidity, or pests.

Most big name storage units have an increase in price after so many months but that seems to be a common place in California. The storage place is awesome, clean with a good locations. The customer communication could use some work. The employees themselves were nice but the communicate was poor. Prior to renting a space i talked to representatives three separate times, making a reservations, confirming the reservation and asking for general instructions on what i needed and not once did someone mention i needed proof of insurance day of. Of course my homeowners insurance covers the storage unit but since i didnt have a copy on me during my walk through i was required to get insurance through them for an extra fee. Within an hour of finishing my first walk through i emailed over my insurance information and was not reimbursed for the second insurance i was required to get through them. It was a small fee so its nothing to get upset over but a heads up would have been nice since i asked a couple times what i needed and not once was it mentioned.Also, not to be nit picky but i stopped by the office at 2pm on a Thursday and their was a sign saying they would be back at 2:45pm. No problem there but when i came back at 2:45pm there where 3 people working in the office... not sure why there couldnt be round the clock coverage if there are 3 people working in the office.

So I had originally inquired online, which got me a call from HQ. They understood my situation (break up, needed space for my things), and were patient and pleasant. Well, the breakup didn’t happen, and my 30 day hold expired and the location called me the day before to confirm I wasn’t going to need the space - she didn’t yell, hassle, or sound rude: Awesome. Come to find out a couple months later, we’re breaking up again, so I called up Extra Space, reserved the spot, drove over there, and signed my papers.
