Update on Review. My second 3rd Storage experience and this bay far has been the most convenient one for me. The Manager Catherine is so wonderfully helpfully actually goes out far and beyond to help her customers. I’m blessed to share such a beautiful, neat, clean, quite, convenient and safe space here. I feel secure that my things are okay here. Staff is great and pleasant as well. Thank you Thank you .Will be going on a 1 month soon.

I have been using this space for years, and agree with everyone when they say the staff is nice. The reason for the low rating is that since being a customer they randomly increase the rate of your unit without any notification. Meaning I log in to pay each month (because I stopped autopay after the first random increase without notification) and see the increase. Extra Space Storage offers all these deals on units that are the same size or larger than what I currently rent, so I can only assume that the increase is me paying for empty units. BUT to NOT notify the customer in enough time to make a sound decision on how the customer wants to move forward is manipulating and devaluing, to say the least.AND THEIR BELOW RESPONSE STILL SHOWS THEIR NEGLECT OF INFORMING CUSTOMERS OF INCREASES, JUST INCREASE AND THEN TELL YOU WHAT BENEFITS YOU GET FOR YOUR STUFF BEING IN THEIR STORAGE FACILITY. THEIR BELOW RESPONSE MADE ME QUICKLY GO FROM 2 STARS TO 1 STAR. HORRIBLE BUSINESS STRUCTURE

Initially I was pretty happy with this storage experience. But after the first few months, the unit price would raise by around $10 almost every month. After a few years, the unit more than doubled in price and I was struggling to make the payment. If I had to do it again, I probably would just get rid of my stuff. Not a dang thing in there was worth the money I paid to store it.

I loved the contact less way I was able to rent. Staff were friendly and place was clean. M6 only issue is the rate increases they do every few months were very high. They send everyone a notice but it is a pretty high rate raise.Inflation is affecting everywhere. I would rent here again, I had a great experience moving from Extra Space in S.C. to Oakland Extra Space. They have safe clean facilities. Thanks Jaime🙏

The storage access ends at 10 PM and opens at 6 AM. Access is not 24 hour. Prices are relatively high. There are only 3 parking spaces in the garage, which is opened using an access code. They provide a dolly to help move items, but half the time it is missing. The location is inconvenient and not pleasant. If possible, avoid using this storage center.

This Particular Extra Space..gets 5 star and thats and I feel like my property is at a 5 star motel lol. The staff is awesome..the place is well organized..clean..quiet. I can sleep good at night knowing my property is in good hands. The staff is AWESOME every last one but Ms. (Katherine) goes over and beyond..and I love her for her that. Life gets in the way of living and when it does Extra Space Storage was there to meet my storage needs. I’ve rented from 3 different locations in 3 different cities and this location is a good one. It’s an indoor facility and it’s clean and maintained well. I appreciated the fact that you can pull inside the facility via a access controlled door. As a single woman having to move things in and out is feature made me feel safe and secure while I was loading and unloading my car. I didn’t have to about anything happening to my car or the items in my car in between the trips to the storage unit. I have moved out of my storage unit and Yuriana helped me through the move out process. She was extremely helpful and very nice and professional when I needed help and took care of everything she said she would. When she did not know the answer she immediately asked for help from her manager and she was prompt and courteous and returned my phone call with the answer. I really appreciated her being a woman of her words. If I have a need for a storage space again I will definitely be back at 300 Market Street.Thank you for everything from unit 0523 :-)

This space has been great for my needs— kind and helpful staff, clean facilities, convenient location and accessibility. Only complaint is that there seems to be one dolly available at any given time. Kinda made moving out a hassle but luckily we didn’t have too much. Extra Space Storage’s location on 300 Market is clean, easy to navigate, and has very friendly staff. It wasn’t a problem getting a storage unit and there’s a small parking lot. 10/10 would recommend!Update: got our unit 10x10 unit for $190 and then 5 months later it was bumped up to $270. Wasn’t happy about it, but had to keep the unit. Just be mindful that a price increase can happen 🤷🏻‍♀️

I called to get a storage and the operator misunderstood everything. I was giving the wrong size unit. And did not find out until after I sign the contract because they don’t send you any of the information until after. Due to the weight I needed it to be on the first floor because it wouldn’t fit in the elevator I was given a unit on the second floor but when I went in Katherine had to fix it. She was so nice and helpful she gave us a tour of the facility made sure we had a unit on the first floor got us the correct size. She was overly helpful and took away all the stress and built up frustration by making this process so easy.

Okay, so it’s not cheap cos it’s the new Bay Area, but I couldn’t dock a star. The women who run this location are great—friendly and helpful and we’ve had good laughs together. I’ve been renting space here for over two years and I was even kind of wistful clearing out my unit this week. The space itself is modern with a keypad to get in and my unit was on the second floor close to the elevator so it was easy for me to lug stuff in and out even though I’m a smallish woman.Thank you!

I highly recommend this facility. The managers are on top of it and they look out for their clients. Glad to be vacating, but also feel like Ive sort of developed an extended family. I had a storage space here for a while over a year. I closed my account because it was too expensive, I think it went up every six months. Be mindful that there is limited parking inside, I would say two to four stalls. The manager is not that friendly either. Also beware, that they will process your credit card without your permission. Im glad I left. Shop around first before deciding on this place.

I picked this place because it was inexpensive and close to my apartment. I signed the paperwork and immediately knew something was wrong when the owner asked me to pull up the facility in Google Maps. She then grabbed my phone out of my hands (seriously) and left a 5-star review from my account. I laughed it off but was extremely upset by this. No wonder this place has so many 5-star reviews.vI have since deleted this review because it is so inaccurate.Within a month, I sent them paperwork proof that I had renters insurance so that they would waive the fee. I got no response and the next month, I was charged the insurance fee. I resent my renters insurance and tried to call. They didnt answer my calls or reply to my emails. This went on for 3-4 months. Finally, I got a call and to their credit, they issued me a credit on my next bill. Unfortunately they could only do this in pieces because there was a maximum credit and half of it was pushed to the next month. However, I was already planning on moving out by then so I never received my full refund on the money they continued to take from me without cause.Positives are its clean, theres a loading dock, and they dont bother you. Its cheap too, though theyll quickly raise your monthly rate so you probably dont want to stay long. Its a decent short-term option but dont let the owner take your phone and leave a fake review! What a scam.

We moved to California and needed storage and Extra Space Storage in Oakland on Market Street was recommended by our daughter. We found the facility to be very clean and well organized, but the best part was working with Tanya, the Manager. She was outstanding ... very helpful and supportive.The units are reasonably priced, and there are always carts available to help with moving your items. There is also a rear entry near the elevator which is very convenient.Tanya made our transition to California much easier than it could have been otherwise. Thank you for all your help. I would have given this experience 5 stars because the sign up process was very easy, when I got to the storage location, the rep on sight, Sara, was very polite and helpful. However, the online website advertised a 1st floor unit and when I got there, Sara informed me that the unit I had reserved was on the third floor. I am pretty disappointed about this because I was comparing Extra Space and Public Storage. Both places advertised a 5 x 5, indoor, first floor units. Extra Space was actually more expensive but it was closer to my home so I went with them despite the price difference. I was pretty upset when I got to Extra Space and was told that my unit was actually on the top floor.While this may seem like a minor detail, this is important to me because the items I will be storing in the unit are used seasonally, which means I will be in and out of the space carrying various items often. I wanted a ground unit so I could run in and run out quickly. I expressed this concern to Sara and she really tried to accommodate me. She showed me a couple smaller spaces on the ground floor but unfortunately, there were no 5 x 5s left and anything smaller or larger wouldnt work for my needs.Since I had already signed the lease and brought my things over, I asked her to put me on the wait list in case anyone else moved out of a 5 x 5 on the first floor. Im not sure how the website picks this information, but I would suggest a revision because this could be a deal breaker for a lot of people and I am upset that I will be paying more for a unit that is on the top floor--it would make sense that units that are more difficult to get to would be cheaper.

I have recently had to move on short notice while maintaining a full time schedule with work. The people at Extra Space storage have been great! During the move I have had to cut my lock due to losing my keys during the moving process. The lock that I purchased for my unit could not be cut with bolt cutters. A grinder was needed to cut my lock off. Tonia had no problem getting the power tools out and making sure that I was able to access my unit. Truly satisfied with the service I have been given so far.

I rented a unit this past week and Im so glad I came. I went to the competitor and it was amazing how when I called it was one rate came in it was another and went on the Web for another. I passed by extra space and went in immediately greeted with a smile and a hand shake by staff. As the staff walked me around I was amazed at the floors and the white halls. I rented a unit and the rate never changed. Id recommend them based on just how clean it looked when you drive up. The staff closed the deal Tonya and Reggie congrats you earned my business!

I havent been there long but so far its as favorable as a storage situation can be. The set up is ideal, I appreciate the fact that I dont keep having to turn a dial for the lights to come back on because they never turn off. They gave me a great move in deal plus renting from them was as simple as getting gasoline. The staff, specifically Reggie deserves a pat on the back. He knew exactly what he was doing and how to do it correctly and his personal touch in caring about the customer is what sold me.

I found them to be excellent, clean, great pricing. visiting your locker was hassle-free and virtually unrestricted, like some places I checked out before settling on them. This place has the friendliest, most helpful staff. Noel and Catherine made the whole experience of renting a storage locker and moving our household goods in so much better-especially on a sunny, Saturday afternoon with two kids in tow. They are knowledge, fast and found a unit where we needed it after taking the time to look through their inventory. Plus, Noel offered our kids a piece of paper and pen to draw pictures after he noticed they were becoming bored and wearing on our patience.From start to finish, the staff makes this storage location stand out from all the rest. Plus, its super clean everywhere and nice and cool temperature from their office to the halls where the units are located.I wouldnt go anywhere else.

Bait and Switch pricing. Ive had this with both units - ~2-3 months into your lease, you get a postcard in the mail raising your rent by 50%+ citing market factors (no email or text - so its easy to miss until they bill you). But then back on their website, you can get the same unit size for far less, sometimes less than my current lease amount. So, you have the hassle of moving your stuff into another unit every 3 months to keep the same (or lower) rate.

The staff here are rude and unfriendly unless you are a person of another race. They are not kind to other black people, especially black women. Katherine can be extremely rude when you call or ask too many questions. More recently, my husband and daughter experienced poor treatment at their facility when their stuff was being auctioned off. Unfortunately, the unit was in my name and I did not have the funds to continue paying for it and it went into default. My 18 year old daughter wanted desperately to save her baby pictures, my grandmothers old piece of clothing and personal artifacts that were truly of no high value. She went in to the auction like anyone who is part of the general public to bid legit. She was interrogated and yelled at embarrassingly in front of others and questioned and asked for her ID. Although she present ID proving she wasnt me she was still harassed and told she couldnt bid. Technically, the unit is NOT hers and NOT in her name so yes she can bid. She was outbid by another guy who was advised by staff not to work with her to get things like pictures etc. Instead, most of the stuff ended up in the trash when they guy was WILLING to give it to her. How despicable is that? There wasnt diamonds or jewelry or anything of real value, other than the stuff that makes a person cry knowing they wont ever see those baby pictures or family photos again. The man did however turn over the cremated remains of my parents, which were dropped off at the Sheriffs office miles away instead of just calling and asking us to pick them up. My daughter even called to ask to get them and the phone was slammed in her face. I had to call corporate to get the address of where they were located. Its so sad when people lose compassion and care for others especially when they dont OWN Extra Space...they are just employees. Why do your own kind wrong? Why not show love instead of hate or disdain? You do not know anyone elses situation. Do not make assumptions without know a person. These ladies determined we werent worthy of those items because we didnt have the money and they interfered in a situation where the buyer of the unit was WILLING to give most of the items back. He took a loss on the purchase of that unit and all they gave a damn about was the bottom line. In a nutshell, this location is biased and unfortunately discriminatory against certain people. Now there are a good portion of you out there that dont know about black on black racial biases, but they exist more often than not. This is the case at this location. People will still use them, I know, but black people take your dollars elsewhere. Places like this prey on the poor and those who are down on their luck. They have introductory rates, then raise the rent when they want. KEEP YOUR BUSINESS GO ELSEWHERE!!

Five years ago this facility was nice. Now it looks as sad as any beat up place. The rollup doors on the north side are functional about half the time. The north elevator has had a broken call button for more than six months. During my past three visits I cannot find a cart for use. Not because they are in use, there are no carts. Perhaps people are stealing them, but closing your eyes to a problem is not the solution.I would not recommend this facility to anyone.

And out of neccessity, have dealt with the cost, but not happy at all about what I had to incur for this amount of time. Reggie and Katherine at the Market Street (Oakland, CA) location are AWESOME! They made what was a horrible ordeal Much easier to manage. They are kind and professional. I highly recommend Extra Space Storage!!

The attendant was very helpful she was patient with me and explained everything thoroughly so I would understand I am glad to be using this facility.
