Rio is a class act. I could have gone anywhere else in the East Bay to store my stuff, but I tend to go where the customer service is always stellar. Not only did he come out of the office to tell me where I can park at best but he also gave some great navigation directions on backing the truck into the space. To me, thats how you win championships. To Claudia & Rio, & team, thanks for always making the transition with moving a pleasant experience. Moving just sucks as it really does, so to give some light to an already dimmed & dark experience is always appreciated. 👍🏾💯🫶🏾

So I guess I just dodged a bullet. I’ve had my belongings in an extra space storage up north. Great service and team up there taking care of everyone’s needs. Pleasant and polite.Not here. The exact opposite.So based upon my first interaction with this place being so abominably rude, I’m taking my storage needs to anything but another extra space storage.

Rio was amazing!!! I was greeted right away very nicely, all of my questions and concerns were answered and Ron went up and beyond to assist me with finding the right size storage. Rio also explained the process of accessing the storage unit which was much needed being this was my first time renting from extra storage. The facility was clean, smelled really good and well organized. I would definitely recommend extra storage but specifically the west Oakland location where Rio works 😊

Omg ! I was having such a horrible day and I was gonna book the unit online but I decided to come look at the unit first to book the right size, the Man inside gave me a welcoming vibe, he had no problem showing me multiple sizes to help me feel more comfortable before booking and also accommodated me by listening to my small rant as he showed the unit. Claudia and Rio are an exceptional team, keeping the facility CLEAN (so important) and they are the most friendly we’ve ever experienced. I have always used Extra Space Storage whether for work or for personal over the years. This past year I have used the facility in Emeryville, and I have never had better customer service, literally anywhere else. Claudia and Rio are the most genuinely kind people who truly care about the customer experience. Even though I no longer need the unit, they were so helpful in ensuring I was able to have the smoothest of move outs. The process was personalized as well as quick. They truly took the stress out of both the move in and move out processes. Especially since I did not live in the area, so I am incredibly grateful to them for making everything simple and efficient, not to mention pleasant.

When you’re in the middle of moving you want everything to be stress free. I’m pleased to say that coming to this location always gives me that worry free vibe. The employees have always been highly responsive, friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating to me and my roommates when it came time to move. Recently, I was on the search for specific boxes and this was the one location to have them. I’m grateful to have this location right in the neighborhood. Also, the security features are top notch, as we’ve never had to worry if our things were safe at this location. For all your storage needs check them out, you won’t regret it!

This is my second time renting at this location. This time I rented for my aunt who is going into a retirement home. The first time I rented was with a lady name Jewel a couple years back and this time I was met with a smiling face from Claudia. My first experience wasnt so great but this time Claudia really made up for it. The property is well priced and she was able to get my aunt a unit that worked for her needs. Every time Ive come the location has been clean which is a plus. I also have a second unit at the Fallon location and it is a little older but still same great service. I would highly recommend this location and Claudia. She made my aunt feel comfortable and this location worked for my aunts freeway access she needed. I was both stunned and impressed when she knew my name AND unit number right off the top of her head during one of my trips to the facility.The only problem I have had with Extra Space Storage is that the autopay function has not worked for me. For some reason it does not charge my card as it is supposed to. I don’t get alerted via a phone call, text, or email. I find out that my card has not been charged by way of by an eviction notice sent to me via US mail with an auction date. I then have to pay 2-3 months in arrears to catch up.Its a hassle to have to deal with that so I am now monitoring the monthly charges much more closely. But overall, great facility, great management (Claudia) and great customer service (Claudia). I would highly recommend.

Our first experience was with Alex. He was professional, funny, and terrific on the phone. We called around to several other locations, but easily chose Extra Space based on the phone conversations, alone.Once we got here we found nothing changed except the service improved from superb to stellar. Only con would be having to punch in your code every time you enter and exit the building. I believe you can use a card but not so sure on that.

Storing our belongings at Extra Space Storage was a great experience overall. We started with a smaller unit and had to upsize due to our family expanding. Claudia was there EVERY step of the way seeming to always attempt to make life easier for me and my growing family. Extra Space is always clean and is very secure. My only draw back is that they go up on rent I believe every 9 months or so. Even when our rent got to be too much, Claudia still treated us with dignity and respect. My family and I are super grateful for Claudia and the care and attention that she paid to us during our time with Extra Space Storage. Claudia was super helpful when I initially called to find out about renting a climate controlled space. She gave me a tour and showed me the space available, explained how the code works, etc. The process of renting using online tools was simple. The only real difficulty Ive had is finding a good driving route to get to the site; my delivery guys had trouble, too. Some of the mapping software seems to have trouble locating it, and the street signs in the area are sketchy.

Very bad experience. I reserved a space, but did not get it when i went to facility. Since did not respond phone call to confirm, i was not able to get desired locker.when i went into office to confirm, i was not able to locker, but was presented option to book another locker online. So i ended paying the same amount for half the size of desired storage unit. I would give less than one star review for bad customer service.

Amazing Experience. Made a reservation and an appointment but showed up a couple of hours early, and wanted the space two days earlier. No problem. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. They gave me a lot of info and made sure I understood all the options and features of the facility.The facility itself is amazing. Very clean, well lit, and they have ambiance music playing for those nights when youre there later at night. Speaking of later at night, they have great hours 6am-10pm access.Make sure to check online for reservations to get great deals and discounted rates.

I like this space for the convenience of location, and cleanliness. But not having access to the restrooms for nearly a year, receiving an increase in monthly fees during a global pandemic, and maintaining a very minimum of staff(as in I hardly ever see anyone humans that work there) all warrants a 2-3 star--+--the bathroom access frazzles me a bit as I could have been working on reducing my storage all this time but I have to stop, closeup and bike or walk to Target. Then theres the loud annoying alarm thats guaranteed to go off at least 2-3 times within a visit. Other than that....the storage biz is a very lucrative and essential business no matter what global catastrophe is happening---monthly rent has to be paid...no matter what.....so can we get access to the restrooms and a mopping of the floors ever so often?? Id easily give a 5 star review if this was to change. Btw--- Targets restroom has been open this entire time...so its not a CDC issue....its a maintenance issue. Just my honest review and statement. I was unaware that I had to give notice before moving out to be refunded for the days I was not using the unit. I called to let the office know I moved out and the representative stated that I needed to give notice in order to get prorated for the days I was not using the unit. This rule does not make sense and seems like a hassle for people who are going through the stress of moving and likely have others moving their things for them. My friend helped me move my things out when she had time so I could not predict the exact day of move out to give notice ahead of time. Extra Space was flexible during move in but I would have liked to see that same flexibility during move out.

The facility is quite reasonable, perhaps a bit on the pricey side, but you do have a knowledgeable staff thats accountable. The facility is new and clean and well designed. I attribute my low rating to the move-out experience. I moved out on July 2. I spoke with the manager who informed me that that I still had 2 weeks left to my month. I explained that I would not need those 2 weeks and she could credit the time back to my card. She informed me that the company did not issue refunds. Huh? I thought this a strange and arbitrary policy. After all, this isnt a commercial or residential real estate agreement, where the landlord would require time to vett and secure a new tenant. This is a storage locker. They can rent it tomorrow if they receive an inquiry. I responded that this policy was arbitrary and punitive. She shrugged at me. Annoying end to an otherwise reasonable service.

Met with Lesea to rent a storage unit. She was super friendly & helpful, and the process was fairly quick. The facility itself is extremely clean (all units indoors,) and there are plenty of large carts to use for loading. Facility is secure, as individualized codes are required for entrances and elevators, and each unit is individually alarmed. Set-up fee seems unnecessary, but the price of the unit wasnt bad. We were probably there less than an hour, and unloaded a whole small SUV worth of stuff onto 2 carts- easy transport to unit and elevators are super roomy.

The managers at the Emeryville, CA, Extra Space Storage office, are always courteous and efficient. They are knowledgeable and accommodating with everything. Recently, I had to change units, from a smaller to a larger, with code changes and paperwork needing to be done. Everything was done very quickly, I was shown the new unit, given the new code, the old code was expunged, and I was in the new unit within an hour.I also had to have a PODS unit dropped and emptied the same day. They were very accommodating and arranged to have the PODS unit picked-up and taken away the same day. The units are safe, well-organized, monitored, and efficiently placed. There are three dollies available and elevators are always accessible. Everything, thus far, has gone smoothly and quickly.Im not sure how their prices compare with others, but the peace-of-mind that I have, makes working with them well worth it. I highly recommend their location and managers--Emeryville, California. Check it out.

I first went to Public Storage on Shellmound and 65th… BIG mistake. The property manager there is a complete ass, and it takes a lot for me to say that about someone. I quickly cancelled my reservation there and went to the next closest place: Extra Space in Emeryville. The difference was night and day. Lesea was very sweet, the place is IMMACULATE, and they supply all the moving accessories you could need. I was skeptical about having a fourth floor unit, thinking it would make my move that much more cumbersome, but their facility is amazing: big, convenient elevators, large doors, and free dollies/carts. I only had bedroom furniture to move, but the entire process of signing a lease and completely unloading my car -- all the way up until I locked my units door and drove away -- took less than ninety minutes. I will definitely come here again.

Storage unit was great but I did not like that the original space was around 100 dollars and the price felt like it kept rising every month. That is how they get you. Your stuff is already there and it is too much of a hassle to move it elsewhere. Very unhappy with the amount of price increases.

Clean and maintained. Although I do have concerns about security in the off business hours. I was there with a friend and no one knew who I was and when a person walked out I just walked in, no questions no nothing. I would be a little concerned about going at night or off hours
