Neil at Evolution Flooring was very professional and great to work with. After our first meeting with him we knew we wanted to work with him as it was clear he is a master of his trade. He had our best interest in mind through out our entire project and helped us all along the way, answering all our questions quickly, providing useful tips and checking in regularly. He replaced about 2600sq. ft of carpet and linoleum in our home with beautiful engineered wood flooring and his work was spectacular and meticulous. Highly recommend Neil, no need to look anywhere else, good people like this are hard to find.

Neil came to us with the highest recommendation from our contractor who did a bathroom remodel on our master bath. We purchased our own Spruce pine sliding barn doors and our contractor recommended we have Neil stain them. I imagine staining these two barn doors was considered a small job to Neil but he treated us like gold from beginning to end. He did multiple treatments of sanding and staining to get the exact color we wanted. He initially came to our house to show us some stain sample colors none of which I was crazy about. Finally, I sent him a photo of what I wanted and he was able to nail the exact look by combining a mix of Chestnut, walnut and a splash of natural stain. He worked so hard, stayed in constant communication with us, and finished the job in two days. The two barn doors look gorgeous and really completed the look of our new bathroom. We felt what he charged us was very reasonable as well. I can see why my contractor so strongly recommended Neil. We will for sure use him in the future for other projects. I highly recommend him.

Not only is Neil skilled in his craft, but he also takes pride in the quality of his work, and is a pleasure to deal with as a human. There are many professionals with one or two of these attributes, but Neil is exceptional to possess all three. Neil installed a new engineered wood floor in my house. I am quite happy with the work, and I intend to hire him for an upcoming sand-and-finish job.

I recently had Evolution install flooring to replace old carpet and tie-in to existing flooring after removing an old pellet stove.Neil was extremely professional throughout the process. He came out and measured the spaces, provided an estimate and got me on the schedule. From the communication to the installation Neil and his team were a role model of how to do business. Neil did a phenomenal job on gutting my carpet and installing the hardwood floors in two bedrooms. He even got everything done on Memorial Day weekend so I was extremely grateful that they could fit me into there schedule before I went on vacation. Neil is a talented, hard worker who knows his business. The price was also very reasonable despite the challenges we face in this economy. Bottom line Neil will get the job done so if you have a flooring project than Neil is your guy.

I wake up every day admiring my newly refinished floors. They put in nearly 1300 square feet of plywood and engineered flooring in 2.5 days, while also cutting out our hearth to make the flooring look like it was original. Highly recommend! We replaced 1150 sq ft of old 90s linoleum and carpet throughout our entire house as well as repaired several issues (floor squeaks, soft spots and water damage). New to the area. Needed flooring to be done in living room. The floors were old and out dated. The job included removing an area with slate and filling areas that the original craftsman didnt take to the wall. The floors were sanded down and new wood woven in looking as if it was the original floor. Work was done on time no excuses, great attention to quality and keeping the dirt /.dust to a minimum. Evolution hardwood flooring did an outstanding job, this review is an unbiased opinion. There are many ways to refinish hardwood floors the wrong way the and in between way and the right way. Evolution hardware did at the right way. Take my word for it, if you use them you will not be disappointed. Also, I accidentally touched an area that had not yet dried and they came and took care of it the same day. Because of the line of work I am, I know people, and you can trust evolution hardwood flooring to give you exactly what you need.

He answered our call right away and always responded to our emails or calls immediately. He did a great job installing our new floors as well as repairing a portion of old flooring. He and his assistant even helped us move heavy furniture when the floors were completed and he also cut a new vent cover that I purchased to fit properly. He was very accommodating in working around our 19 year old cat and dealing with our unruly dogs. Upon ripping out decades old carpet in our new home, we realized the original hardwood floors were in need of some restoration. Neil was very responsive upon our first phone call. Although he is extremely busy, he was able to come inspect the floor relatively soon. I appreciate his honest opinion of our floors being a great candidate for a screen and coat instead of refinishing them. This is also a more affordable process so we were thrilled. Neils prices were very reasonable and he was able to fit us into his packed schedule a couple weeks after his initial visit.Neil and his team were super professional, courteous and offered helpful information as to how to maintain the floors post-treatment. They paid attention to details and even tweaked the stairs to lessen the creaking. We noticed a few very minor issues the next day and Neil came by within the hour to address them which was much appreciated. We are super happy with the end result. Our floors are truly transformed and look amazing!

Neil is the best. He was super helpful in figuring out what to refinish and did a great job. I have an old Victorian that was fully carpeted and had varied woods and patterns underneath the carpet. We were able to make 2 rooms look stunning and it changes the whole vibe. He was also able to repair some old tongue and groove flooring at the last minute by tracking down a bundle from someone in Auburn so the repair matched the wood and grain. Neil and his crew did a terrific job installing engineered hardwood. They completed the job in around four hours, while other local suppliers said the job would take two days. More importantly, unlike two flooring retailers in the area, Neil charged us only for the actual square footage of our floor and did not impose additional charges for unnecessary floor preparation. Although Evolutions per-square-foot charge was higher than the others, the total cost was lower. Id rather do business with an honest company any day!

Neil at Evolution Hardwood Flooring did a FANTASTIC job installing our flooring. He even saved us from making a HUGE mistake that would have cost us thousands to rectify. He came out to install flooring that we had purchased and once he began installing noticed that there was a manufacturing defect in the flooring. He pulled his whole team off the job and let us know what the issue was - even talking to the manufacturer. He then came back when the new flooring arrived and did an awesome job installing the floor. He is a great communicator, reasonably priced, and an honest professional craftsman. The short version of this review is: Hire Neil and his team to do your floors!The long version is that you should hire EHF because...- Professionalism: Neil is so great to work with! He is communicative, personable, and has assembled a great team.- Expertise: Its very clear from working with Neil that he has a deep level of domain expertise working with all sorts of materials, and he knows what the right thing to do is to ensure a great finished product. We chose flooring materials that were very expensive, and because of very significant production delays with the supplier (Vermont Plank Flooring), the floors came unfinished. The finish sent by VPF turned out to be really ugly, so we went with Neil’s recommendation to do a natural finish, and Neil was able to salvage the flooring and turn it into something beautiful. We felt totally confident putting the situation and flooring in Neils hands, and what he delivered was beyond what we could have imagined.- Integrity: It was clear to us working on our project that Neil loves what he does and takes a great deal of pride in his work.- Reliability: Throughout our entire project, Neil did everything he said he would do when he said he was going to do it, without us ever having to follow-up. We really grew to trust him, and it was such a relief knowing that this was one area that didnt need to be micromanaged in the slightest.- Finished Product: Thanks to Neil, we’re so happy with our floors! In mid-December, 2021 Evolution Flooring laid engineered oak flooring over a concrete base at our home in Rough & Ready. We had been struggling to line up a flooring contractor - all too busy, short staffed, can’t be bothered to return calls etc, but luckily we were referred to Neil. Although busy like the rest of them, he agreed to squeeze the job in over a weekend in December to help us stay on schedule. Stop and read this! I am a Bay Area transplant and have worked with numerous contractors before, including for floors. Hands down, I LUCKED OUT by coming across Neil and Evolution Harwood Flooring. FAIR, HONEST, and PRIDE in his trade/work.Neil quickly made an estimate appointment, was fair in his pricing, and is meticulous at details. He did not overstate what he could and could not do (including his completion date) and was happy to accommodate with multiple different quotes (full retain versus refinish). He generously worked with my other contracted workers such as my painter so the work could continue with both contractors (and without paying a general contractor!) Neil even set me up with his own other local tradesmen to get the perfect finishes to accompany his fine work. Last, in a pinch, Neil stepped up and was able to finish two mantels on new fireplaces that needed staining. While he gave me a general price, he told me he would be fair with the final bill....and he did. He came up at half the price based on honest work. Good contractors are hard to come by and this is one of them!

Pulling up carpets in my 1939 home revealed an original oak floor that had pet and plant stains, scratches, water damage, and an overall dark color. Neil was quick to come by and evaluate the floor, was clear about which stains could not be removed without creating divots, and expressed confidence about being able to repair the water damage without replacing boards. The floors now look fantastic, with most stains gone and the few remaining ones lightened, the cupped boards somehow flattened, and the new clear finish brightening the whole house. The work was done on schedule, and he even sent two-minute videos to show progress each day. The place looks great!

We had a very difficult flooring project with uneven floors that needed a lot of work. Neil took on the challenge! Other flooring companies we had look at the project either never called back or said they couldn’t fix the floors. One of the best qualities that Neil has is his responsiveness. Most of the time he actually answers his phone. To me that is unusual in the building trades and a real plus. One might say that for someone to be that accessible he must not be very popular or in demand (so watch out). Not the case at all! Neils schedule stays pretty full but when he puts you in, you can count on his reliability to get the job done on time. Of course the reason Neil stays so busy is because of the quality of his work and attention to detail. To me he checks all of the boxes for what we were looking for in a service provider. I put off refinishing my oak floor for over 25 years. The finish and stain was completely worn off in multiple locations. The flooring was abused by pets and heavy traffic for years leaving me to believe I would need to replace the flooring all together. We had three rooms finished in 4 days. The equipment used was almost completely dust free. We had many scuffs and splinters from years of wear. Because of the nature of the wood grain, they were able to sand a thin layer leaving beautiful smooth surface. I had a small job, just some hardwood patch work due to a wall that was removed. However, I have since learned that he installed 10 or so scattered pieces of red oak in a white oak floor. He told me that you can match white oak to match red oak with a stain but that is not possible. To his credit Neal did agree to help fix the problem so his heart is in the right place.

Bottom line: Neil is fantastic and Id recommend him to anyone. I had a surprisingly complicated job in a small (450sf) house where there were 3 different kinds of floor materials that I wanted to redo with VG fir. The wood itself was somewhat tricky, in addition to the floors it was going on (the boards were not all milled square, meaning Neils crew had to cut each board to square them with the next; the floor ranged from plywood with glue, to cement that Id jackhammered and re-cemented myself, to a raised level that didnt match the rest of the house; fir is soft and can easily be botched with oversanding, dings, etc.). Throughout the process, Neil was an excellent communicator in terms of explaining his process, offering advice on jobs that I was able to do myself, and keeping up with a shifting time frame. The resulting floors are absolutely gorgeous.Ive worked with a lot of contractors, and he is easily one of the most professional Ive had the pleasure to work with.
