2024-05-18 11:44:17La Estancia has been a non-stop mess.First, booking a room felt like solving a riddle. Forget online reservations --You have to call and complete the reservation by phone. From there, they never sent any confirmation emails (just gave me a confirmation # over the phone). I had to call reservations back several times to confirm the reservation, double check the email address was correct, and STILL they never sent a confirmation email. This was already a red flag. Then, theres no breakfast included. Instead, they bombard you with confusing meal plans that make your head spin. (You can use this amount for this, but cant use that, but you can purchase this and you get this, but not that.)The check-in was just as bad. Rude, passive-aggressive front desk staff, and to top it off, they slapped us with an extra nights charge that we NEVER booked! (Were still trying to resolve this with their accounting department.)Want to charge your electric vehicle? Thats another hurdle. Only valet can charge it for you, which no one mentioned during booking (and they swore it was complimentary for guests). The front desk had a different story--that they will do it once as a courtesy. They then suggested we just go charge our vehicle down the road at public stations.Thankfully, the on-site restaurant, Mustangs & Burros, served great food for dinner. Unfortunately, that was the only bright spot in this whole ordeal.Although the grounds are nice, the beds are comfortable, La Estancia is a complicated mess -- Confusing booking, no straight-forward communication, unfriendly staff, mediocre amenities, surprise charges, and an electric vehicle charging nightmare. Avoid La Estancia!

2024-05-12 17:27:19Great resort with clean and comfortable rooms and dining options. Very nice courtyard views from the room. Stayed 2 nights on a business offsite and it was the perfect place for such a setting. Rooms had amenities like a coffee maker and a couple of refillable water bottles (which, for some reason, they don’t refill after clearing them during housekeeping). Strongly recommend the place for both business and family stays!

2024-05-29 18:09:22Great resort. Beautiful gardens and grounds, from multiple dining options, fire pits, pool, to friendly staff and overall a great experience. The location is good, close to Torrey Pines, La Jolla Cove, and other points of interest within a short drive. There are not many places that are walkable, however.

2024-05-27 19:59:44This was an awesome staycation. The resort is awesome, clean, relaxing and plenty of options within the hotel for food and drinks. The staff was all great amenities available. Oh yeah…this place is pet friendly too. Only one negative thing they should address and that is the water in the shower barley comes out

2024-06-09 19:57:08As someone who values relaxation and indulgence, my recent visit to Estancia left me thoroughly underwhelmed and dissatisfied. The spa has taken a drastic turn for the worse with their recent changes. I had previously visited this spa a year ago and had a wonderful experience.First and foremost, the removal of the pool use from their facilities was a massive disappointment. We had planned to grab lunch and a drink by the poor after our treatment and were informed it was only for hotel guest, when previously this was included in the facilities for spa guest. Its bewildering why they would strip away such a fundamental element of a spas allure without providing any suitable alternative.Adding insult to injury, the draconian restrictions on food and drink are absurd. Not only are guests prohibited from bringing their own refreshments, but the spa also doesnt offer any for purchase. This left me feeling parched and famished throughout my visit, a far cry from the pampered experience I had anticipated. Its simply unacceptable for a supposedly upscale establishment to neglect such basic amenities. They can only offer to walk you to their formal dining room 10 minutes away in your spa robe for any food or drink purchase. To add further insult, they have implemented a fee for facilities that should be complimentary. This fee, which supposedly goes towards supporting the therapists, feels like a thinly veiled cash grab by the spa management. Its disheartening to see an establishment prioritize profits over the well-being and satisfaction of both guests and staff.Overall, my experience at Estancia was nothing short of disappointing. The lack of a pool, the stringent restrictions on refreshments, and the dubious facility fee left me feeling like I had wasted both my time and money. Save yourself the disappointment and seek out a spa that truly values your relaxation and comfort.

2024-05-02 23:42:10The location and grounds are really nice. The parking staff and others are friendly but the front desk staff were not friendly or welcoming at all. Although the check in time is 4pm, I waited well past 4pm before my room was ready. For the price of this property its a little disappointing that the staff arent more welcoming. If you stay here be prepared to act like youre doing them a favor by booking. I would look somewhere else.

2024-01-31 01:16:21Really enjoyed this hotel! Not in the heart of La Jolla, but still well placed near the college campus and Black’s beach nearby. So, it was a great location from that perspective. It was very nice and the rooms were very comfortable. The amenities were nice. The gym was well stocked and the grounds were full of greenery and places to sit and chill. We tried 1:2 of the restaurants. It wasn’t the best for us, but I gave feedback about that elsewhere. There are a couple of walking trails nearby.Loved the easy access to WiFi as well.Note:- the biodiversity loop is only open on the 1st Saturday for 2 hours- the pool is under construction, but they get you to another nice hotel in downtown to use the pool and relax with beach viewsFeedback:- make sure every room has a do not disturb tag- if hanging the towels means, don’t change the towels, encourage the cleaning folk not to change.Otherwise, good customer service and relaxing.

2024-01-26 04:14:27Driving here was crowded b/c this is by the UCSD dorms, but this is a really nice resort. They are remodeling their pool which should be up in April 2024 but still their rooms have all been retouched recently. They dont have tubs though if thats your thing only standing showers. They have luxury bathrobes that I lived in while visiting. I would absolutely come back. I held a conference here and the valet (Oliver and Enrique) were wonderful to my 150+ guests, the front desk was on point, and the food was delicious (David the bartender is the best, and Larry the banquet chief was great to work with).

2024-03-23 17:46:36Very beautiful place and resort fee is worth it. Parking is cheap across the street in UCSD lot. Valet and concierge is great. Restaurant is good to burn the venture X credit. Room is basic. Great Christmas decoration. The makeshift front desk is ok too. Have to call them am for some billing issue though

2024-03-16 15:40:08This trip was to celebrate a birthday so we booked 2 rooms. Our room was on the smaller side without much natural light, situated in a location where we had to go upstairs and downstairs to get to our room. Our biggest problem was that our key to one of the rooms didn’t work so I had to go all the way back to the lobby and get new ones, went all the way back and it still didn’t work. So again, I had to go all the way back to lobby and they gave me, yet again, new ones and said to try it again, so I went all the way back to the room. Still didn’t work and I went all the back and complained. They sent a maintenance person and he said something was wrong with our key pad so he was going remove the door 😳, but eventually he was able to fix the pad itself. Mind you, we drove for 6 hours, checked in, went to dinner so it was late and the whole ordeal took over not 1 but almost 2 hours to resolve. It was the worst experience we have ever had in ANY hotel. For over $500 a night in July ‘23, I expect better customer service. Maybe not make guests go back and forth 5/6 times (lost count) to see if the key works… maybe be given a different room instead of us having to wait outside and in the lobby while they fixed the issue. They gave us 2 free drink tickets for our troubles. Inexperienced front desk and overall experience is the reason this hotel gets 1 star. I think this the first 1 star review I’ve ever given. It was that bad.
