When another rental company (I shall not name) notified me with less than 24 hrs notice that they wouldnt have a car available for me despite my reserving it weeks ahead of time, I had to scramble. I called Enterprise first, and the agent was so helpful and understanding. She assured me that when I reserved the care that we always have cars for our customers if we say we do. My interactions with the staff at the San Rafael office (Medway Rd) was seamless and efficient. Nice folks who cared what I thought and made sure I was happy with my choice of two cars in my price range. Dropoff was speedy and painless at the Sacramento airport.

I am a repeat Enterprise customer. I had a wonderful leasing experience. Nahomy is very kind & took very good care of me. The process which included an extension went flawlessly from start to return. Enterprise is hands down the place to rent a car. The team at Enterprise San Rafael is fantastic!!! Josh, Matthew, Naomi and crew are all wonderful. Truly they went above and beyond to ensure that my car rental experience was hassle free. From the moment I pulled into the lot, I felt like a VIP. The staff is so welcoming and knowledgeable. They make the car rental process so easy. You are able to choose from a wide variety of vehicles. All cars are as clean as when they leave the dealership. I love that the Enterprise team is able to do the walk through with a handheld device. No being stuck in the office and hoping that the car doesn’t have any hidden dents. They walk the car with you, show you the features, verify info, take your payment, and boom… off you go. Easy peazy! Plus I love that there is always a Clorox wipe in the car available to wipe down if desired. It is the extra touches that go a long way. Josh, Matthew and Naomi were so cheerful, energetic and thoughtful. They truly made my car rental experience five stars. I have always been an enterprise fan, but know that I will go out of my way to rent from the Enterprise San Rafael fromnow on. Thank you Enterprise team for making a happy customer for life.

The staff was courteous and efficient. Upgraded as needed and made sure I was completely satisfied with the rental.Returning was easy and fast. Though the prices have increased a bit since January 2024, I guess Ill flip a coin between them and Hertz next time I rent a vehicle.

On Monday, Jun 06, I was given a car from Vacaville-Enterprise which did not soot my needs, so i went to San Rafael-Enterprise. Matt one of the representatives, greeted me with a smile and quickly addressed my concerns and helped me to switch over to the same type of car I had in the shop.He made this complex transaction so easy accomplish and noticed the car I had from Vacaville had dirty windows and slightly dusty. Matt ensured that the care I will be driving was clean throughout, including all the windows.Afterward, he then provided me information regarding adding a rental car to my Fastrack account which also very useful.Thank you, Matt, for providing Excellent Customer Service, you have been a great rep for Enterprise. ...

Enterprise in San Rafael, i cant say enough about their service level. They are attentive, always someone there to pick up the phone and address any questions. They communicate well and set proper expectation. Shuttle service, is a bonus feature as well.The last 2 occasion, my car was in the shop and they pick up/ drop in a timely manner.They are my go to for renting of vehicle....

This was a great experience. Ive rented from Enterprise before and always had a positive experience, but this was especially so. I had reserved a Rogue mid-size SUV, but they were out, so I got a brand new 2024 full size Mazda CX-90 at no extra charge. This car had everything... heads up display, three row seating, etc. Very enjoyable for the week!

This was by far the best experience Ive ever had with any rental car company. Every single staff member was courteous and helpful. I never had to wait at all, and everyone seemed always happy to help.A special shout out to Reno, who arranged a ride to the local bus station to go to the airport. He also gave me a discount because I returned the car with more fuel than I left with.I know how the rental car business can be because I worked at Hertz at the Miami airport as a manager for 7 years. I wish I had this crew when I worked there!

For some reason the staff, including the new manager, decided to have customers ( like me returning their cars) wait 10 minutes outside the door until 8 am (official opening hour of the rental station) even if the entire staff was inside chatting. No good optics, such an attitude is OK at the DMV, not at the usually extremely efficient and customer friendly Enterprise.

As soon as i drove off the “check something” light went on. I had to get home so didn’t go back. Next day the tire was very low. I added air. Next day tire completely flat. Called AAA and they would not repair. Would only use the temporary tire (limited speed and mileage),definitely not a real spare. Early next AM i had to be in Petaluma so that was lost. The next days I exchanged the car. Turns out there was a nail in the tire. In the 2nd vehicle the windshield was very dirty and difficult to see out. The wiper fluid was completely empty!!! So 2 not good experiences with the vehicles. The Enterprise reps were all nice etc but the “products/vehicles “ were not in ready condition and caused me inconveniences.

I was involved in the recent Southwest Airline fiasco up in No. Cal & when I realized my flight home on Dec 27 was most likely going to be cancelled I went on line the night before and reserved a car. Early the next morning, I received a call from Nick @ Enterprise in San Rafael. He was quite apologetic while he explained that he had just arrived to work & found that there were 150 reservations for 10 available cars, so they were not going to be able to honor my reservation. I understood & wished him a good day -- I knew it was going to be a rough one! Later that day, when I was at Oakland airport waiting for my flight, Nick called me back & thanked me for being so nice that morning. He then told me he had a truck that became available if I were still interested. Thankfully, I was getting on my flight after all, but was amazed at how considerate, thoughtful & polite this young man was. His customer service skills are of excellent quality and Enterprise is fortunate to have Nick on their team. There should be more young people like Nick out in this world, who have a heart for others. Please let him know that he made my day by reaching out to me & being so caring. The Enterprise in VISALIA Ca, was great. Very nice and helpful. However Enterprise in San Rafael not so kind. I had a long wait time when there were other agents available and only one other customer ahead of me. The agents just sat, talking and ignoring me until I was the only person left and they had to help me and that took them 20 min to realize that. They then tried to rush me out like I was bothering them but then I had to come right back because they gave me a defective car (bad brakes) the second car wasnt that much better. I have been renting from Enterprise for years and I have never seen or experienced service like I have at this place. If that would have been my first time, I would never deal with them again. Maybe it was because I am Black and this is a ritzy area. Shame on YOU!

Great customer service! The staff at this location have been communicative and pickup/dropoff is fairly straightforward. I had a problem with screechy brakes and was able to quickly swap for another vehicle. Most vehicles have Android Auto (and the Apple equivalent) for navigation if you plug in the phone (bring your own cable). This might be long but worth sharing with your team because extra effort and care is so lacking in the business world but your team in San Rafael went above and beyond. We had planned a birthday trip for our son last year but had to cancel due to Covid. We were able to go this year and had just left Muir Woods, heading up to Sonoma. I had rented a car from Hertz, (Im a Presidents Circle member) and travel extensively. I ended up with a flat tire. Long story short, they were not able to help. Long hold times and not understanding what we needed quickly. We had rented a car that had a run flat tire so drove it to the nearest tire store. They didnt have a replacement tire but suggested to go to Hertz a couple miles away. Walked in, again not helpful and just said im oversold by 8 cars and cant help you. You will have to drive it back to Oakland. (wow....drive back to Oakland from San Rafael on a run-flat...OK). As my husband continued to deal with Hertz, my son found Enterprise and said it was just a few blocks away. As we were walking there, I called and spoke to Nick, I believe the Branch Manager. He had said he would have anything until the afternoon but with a very heavy sigh and letting him know we were on vacation and needed to be there by noon, he said to come in and he would see how he could help. As soon as we got there, Nick welcomed us and had us in a car within 15 minutes (might have been a little longer but it was so seamless). I truly can not thank Nick enough for making our day go on without a hitch. It was only a 3 day trip but that day was so special and enjoyed the rest of the afternoon because of Nick. Please, please commend him for going up and beyond. These days, it seems that the customer experience has wained but not at this San Rafael Enterprise location. Im a business owner with locations around the country and our culture is about the guest experience. We need more of this and I am forever grateful for a job very well done. Thank you Nick again! When I returned the car, I had learned that National is part of your brand umbrella. The only reason I had used Hertz was the ease of landing at an airport and getting a car quickly. I heard that Enterprise may be introducing this and when this happens, I will use Enterprise exclusively. Until then, Ive signed up at National. I will share my experience with those that rent cars frequently. Again, thank you for teaching and having a culture of helping others and a culture of excellence. It is very much appreciated.

I recently had to rent a car while my own car (an Audi) was being worked on. I cancelled at the last minute when my mechanic lent me his car but when my car had to be kept overnight, I went back to Enterprise and they had a very nice car or me (a Volvo SUV) which drove like butter and was really fun, for a reasonable price ($45/day). The people at the counter were fast, friendly and efficient. Their shuttle drove me to my mechanic with no waiting. I know it doesnt always work out this smoothly but this was a great experience.

It was very busy when I arrived to pick up the car, but the staff was very professional, friendly, and competent. We were staying at the Marin RV Park in Greenbrae and needed a ride to the East San Rafael Enterprise to pick up a rental. They were the only rental site willing to pickup from the Marin RV Park. The pick up driver arrived promptly and courteously took me to the Enterprise lot. Car selection had good range with quality cars. We spent 3 days visiting our daughter in San Francisco. During that time of parking on the street a small window behind the passenger window was shattered. Fortunately I had elected to take the car damage insurance option. The return of the car was a non event since everything was covered under the insurance. All I had to do is tell the location of the car at the time of damage. All rental transactions were quick and thorough. All the Enterprise folks were efficient and courteous.

Absolute worst customer experience renting a car ever. Made arrangements 2 weeks ago for a touchless, safe COVID renting experience. Expected Id just have to show my license and grab a car that was waiting. Showed up and had to wait. While in line watched through the window as their cleaning person pulled down his mask and began to wash the inside of my car (yes, pulled down his mask). I should have filmed it. I then alerted the agent who was there who then went back to tell the guy to put his mask on. 10 minutes later he came back, apologized and said not to worry, they had re-washed the interior. Of course they could not have removed any droplets this guy breathed all over the car as he was cleaning the windows and interior while the windows were up. I complained and was offered a smaller car (which was unusable for my need) and an apology we do the best we can. Car gas tank was also not full, and had brown stuff was splattered all over the drivers side interior which we didnt realize until a few hours later after being freaked out by what had just happened. We then had to drive several hours in the fog with all of the windows down until we felt comfortable enough to roll up the windows. When I returned the car and asked how I make a formal complaint I was told the general manager would be calling me the next day. No call, no discount or comp offered, nothing.I used to think Enterprise offered the best service of any of them. No more. I will never rent from this company again. WORST CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE EVER.

First off, Enterprise in the Bay Area is a terrible company. Outrageous prices. I needed a car for 5 days and they were trying to charge me over $400 in the city, so I noticed it was over $100 cheaper to rent from San Rafael. I made my reservation and had to Uber over there which cost me a pretty penny from SF. Once I arrived, everything was pleasant, but then the clerk asked me for a credit card, which I dont have on me. I told him to use the debit card and run it as credit, but he said he couldnt and that only Marin County residents are allowed to use debit cards at their location. He wouldnt work with me on it and I wasted lots of time and money getting there on a Sunday afternoon all because they had a policy for that particular county. There was nothing on the reservation, or confirmation email, or anything they sent me that said I needed to bring a credit card and only residents of that county could use debit cards. Maybe you should advertise that so people dont do something similar? Terrible company. Stupid policy. Will not rent from them or any Enterprise in the Bay Area. It shouldnt be this complicated to rent a car if you have ID and the money. Ridiculous.In addition to all this, they wouldnt pick me up, and I tried to get a hold of them twice and the first time it took me 30 min to get through, and the second time I hung up after 30. Do not use this company, at least in the Bay Area. Inefficient, poor communication, hours are absurd, and they are just not there to help you. If you have to rent a car, its usually a sign your car is out of commission or youre from out of town, and therefore you need assistance...but they would rather make you jump through more absurd hoops than work with you. Not going to them again.

There are two Enterprise locations in San Rafael -- choose the other one (located at 536 Irwin St), there is a day-and-night difference between the two. At this location, I scheduled a pickup for 9AM the night before. As of 10 AM, they hadnt shown up. When I called to complain, I was informed that the pickup was a courtesy - which seemed to imply that I should just be happy with whatever service they were good enough to provide. Further, I asked for a full-sized pickup; a mid-sized was reserved for me. They acted as though they were doing me a favor. So, I called the Irwin St location and they picked me up within 10 minutes of my call and provided the correct vehicle.

Very disappointed in them! They didnt pick me up as promised, because it was a Sunday and they dont have drivers supposedly to do that. Even though it doesnt say that anywhere. I have been a customer for over 25 years with Enterprise at this location. Recently needed a car for an out of town Birthday trip in which I was rear-ended and injured. An accident NOT MY FAULT as I was stopped in traffic.Enterprise treated me horribly, didnt ask if I was OK, was condensing, accusatory, threatening, called me a liar and berated me for not taking their auto coverage. They tried multiple times with different amounts to try and charge my credit card for a deductible when I did not authorize it and when I had liability only. They knew this and let the rental go out anyway. They made this terrible ending to a trip worse than it had to be as I was being cooperative as I could be. The manager behaved very badly and completely unprofessional. And on top of it, they changed the rate to a higher rate per day than what they quoted me! They also refused to give me a ride home because I was upset and they were uncomfortable. Horrible service and treatment!

For the most part my rental was fine. The car was in good condition, the sales reps were nice and despite several snags I got through their process fairly quick. Amongst the things that occurred my credit card wouldn’t go through on their machine. I called my bank and it was a system error on their part that almost locked up my credit card. BMW was paying for my rental and did not send an authorization. I was able to get out of there in under 30 minutes despite the snags. I kept the vehicle for two days and returned it to the BMW. When I returned it I was never sent a close out receipt (which should have been at $0) I checked my bank statement and I had two miscellaneous charges, one large one and a small one. I called Enterprise and since it was Sunday they informed me that they could not get BMW’s approval for the payment that I would have to wait until Monday to have the charges removed. I agreed and waited until Monday midday for said call back. Since I didn’t receive a call back I called them, they informed me that BMW still had not approved payment, I called BMW asked that they approve the payment, then called Enterprise and where they told me that they were very busy and according to the notes we’re waiting for approval. I noted that BMW had already approved and this was my third call to them. The rep checked and lo and behold the approval was there. I asked him if now both charges would be removed to which he replied yes. For the last two days only one charge has been removed. The second charge remains without explanation or being removed. Despite several calls and to the bewilderment and utter surprise of the numerous reps I have talked to, no one knows what the charge is for or when it shall disappear. I await resolution after four working days and the weekend, having made about ten calls and staring at my computer trying to conjure answers on my own. Not a big deal. Just an annoyance.

Disorganized office. They offered to pick me up for a rental I had scheduled, but then showed-up an hour late. When returning to the office, Google maps quoted an 11 minutes drive with traffic, but the driver elected to take a shortcut which turned into another shortcut and another to get around traffic - and adding 30 minutes to the 1.2 mile ride back to the office. When I finally arrived, they had graciously stayed open past stated closing times that I could pick up a car.....but no cars were clean and ready when I arrived; so I waited while a manager washed and vaccumed a recent return - kind of odd if you are waiting past closing for your pick-up driver to return with a customer. The car, a Chevy Malibu - was relatively new, but the Check Airbag warning light went off each time I started the car, making me wonder if it was being properly maintained.I think there are better options to rent a car than this place.

A few minutes later the other clerk is offering someone on the phone a choice of 2 SUVs if they come in soon. Hell hold it for them. I was shocked. My clerk just said he was wrong. If you are renting a car from out of state here, you need a credit card or a debit card WITH proof of a return trip home. I had plenty of money to cover the rental and then some, but they will not release the car without one of the two above conditions being satisfied. But as a biz guy whos rented his fair share of cars (my last one in Aix-en-Provence which was one of the most frightening and complex experiences of my life), I think its pretty safe to say that anything that happens from here on out is my fault.You know when people in biz have been given a script, and they give you their hand to handshake because its part of the trained corporate culture? Well, I dont know if its the training (probably is), but it felt complete sincere. Adam helped me at the desk, friendly, intelligent, well dressed (I liked the tie, by the way) - and another tall gent helped me to the car, choosing a car for me based on height- The one we had for you is great, but we dont fit. Very cool.From walking in to driving out in the car it couldnt have been more than 5 minutes? There were no hard sells, no upsells - just the unbelievably rare experience of having friendly, efficient help with great customer service, and what become, no I REALLY mean this... an enjoyable consumer experience.The rental car industry is littered with snake oil, deviousness, and confusion. This is the first time in my life I have experienced the 100% 180 degree turn in that methodology. I have had bad experiences at other Enterprise, to boot....but if the corporate office *EVER* read a yelp review, and started benchmarking service standards between office.... they should probably take the executive down to this lobby for a bit to see how its done. If they studied and learned from this outlet, I think Enterprise would easily lead the industry.... As a Budget car holder, i am pretty sure my next rental outside of SF will be Enterprise, to see if this is replicated at other outlets..... so this office needs to pat themselves on the back. Representative on the phone was patient and made the booking easy. We were sent our booking confirmation assuring us our rental would be ready. Started off as a satisfactory agreement, with a “hiccup” in the middle, and disappointment in the end. The “hiccup” was being robbed during a protesting event. I expressed the trouble with banking, my phone being gone and was promised certain accommodations, didn’t receive any, but every call was to forcefully charge me.I was overcharged by $200+ and still had an outstanding balance that was sent to collections by a young gentleman named Tyler. He disregarded all my attempts to distinguish my totals for extension(s), yet charged my card repeatedly. I have a credit card on file if there were any emergencies. Meanwhile, I didn’t know he was charging my card $152 almost daily for a week. Another, I requested a different return location that went from $50 to $100 to $150. He even had the audacity to get an attitude over the phone and making aggressive demands. To attack my credit, my loyalty to enterprise and my money had an adverse effect on my peace.

Avoid this Enterprise location!! As other reviews stated, the car had less than half a tank, who does that??? They wrote 9/16th of gas on the paperwork when I said that is incorrect, it had less than half a tank - Peter confirmed their gas reading system has been faulty lately and made note of it. I returned the car with half a tank (more than how I picked it up) and they are attempting to charge me for fuel, over $7/gallon! No way!! My only question is, why does the local agency say the car can only be rented without extra charges in the contiguous states of only Nevada The 800 Enterprise number said they understand contiguous to mean Nevada, Arizona and Oregon.
