What a lovely experience. I was initially hesitant to take my four year old autistic son to the practice because he’s not used to a new place. As soon as he walked in, he felt almost right at home in the waiting area. I had my two year old daughter wait in the area while I took my son inside as she played with all the toys to keep herself busy without mom being with her constantly. The dentist took his time with Noah, played with him a bit and then started cleaning his teeth. Super friendly staff, willing to make both kids comfortable and happy. Would highly recommend bringing your child here!

First let me start off by saying, I don’t like going to the dentist. For most of us it’s a traumatic experience that usually result in extremely high bills that feel like they can’t be paid. After a long gap between dentist I booked my first appointment here and was an anxious wreck! After my visit I felt welcomed, comfortable, relieved and one of the family! I highly recommend this dentist to anyone especially if you’re an adult looking for a professional and welcoming environment!

After ten years, I can say that Dr. Spencer is our absolute favorite dentist and we literally couldn’t have found a better one! He is the most patient & kind dentist. Now we see the orthodontist and he is also just as wonderful! I’m beyond grateful to have found amazing dental care for both of my children.

Words cant fully express how grateful our family is for Encinitas Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics! Laura is so KIND & patient! She makes scheduling appointments for all three of my children (2.5, 7 & 9) such a breeze and she makes you feel at HOME instantly. Dr. Avi and the rest of the staff are ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE as well. They are clearly experienced with kids and they take the time to get to know them and their needs personally. My 9 yo daughter just began going to this office and had her first cleaning and x-rays yesterday, and her first treatment today. The front of house staff are wonderful from start to finish which shows they are happy to work there. The doctors and their assistants that we have met so far have been amazing. My daughter is so happy that we found the new “perfect” dentist office right down the street from home. She felt very comfortable and cared for today and they did a beautiful job on her treatment. She’s is looking forward to going back.

What a wonderful experience for our 5 year old. He loved the spacious playroom full of toys and kids movies. Then he was met by the hygenist who gave him sunnies, for the bright lights, & headphones to listen to the movie soundtrack from the tv built into the ceiling. I’ve never seen him so relaxed. They have very modern equipment and did his x-rays quickly, and easily, in the chair.The dentist spent so much time with us discussing our child’s personal care, overall diet, and oral hygiene tips, for healthy teeth. I was so impressed I scheduled my own adult cleaning and exam. The out of pocket costs were perfectly reasonable. And at the end of the appointment my child asked to stay and play. He even said, “Mommy, when do I get to come back to the dentist?!” He loved it so much. Thank you to the whole team for making our first experience so memorable. I’ll be sharing with all our friends and neighbors.

With 2 kids on the spectrum, I never really know what Im going to get, but Encinitas pediatric Dentistry made their experience a joy and created lifelong customers. They were patient, engaging and communicative, which as a teacher and mom mean so much❤️ Above all they cared and you could feel it. When we got to the car my daughter said I really like our new dentists momma, they talk to me and my son added Yeah, she gave me a pillow for my butt. We do everything for our kids so when I find a gem I always share. This place is amazing and know your kids will enjoy as much as mine did❤️ Thanks again to all of you!!

We had an incredible experience with Encinitas Pediatric and Orthodontics! Scheduling was a breeze and the front office staff were incredibly friendly and professional! The dental hygienist and dentist were so kind and wonderful to our daughter. They are clearly well versed in working with kids! They made her feel comfortable and we felt at ease as parents. No one likes going to the dentist. If that is your mindset then you haven’t taken your child to Dr. Spencer. My daughter had to have multiple cavities filled and she was extremely nervous. At her teeth cleaning appt when this was discussed, Dr. Spencer explained the procedure to her step by step and let her touch and see all of the tools he would use. He used age appropriate language for my 7 year old to help her understand and lessen her fear. He even used the tools to draw designs on her fingernails which she loved. On the day of the procedure, Dr. Spencer came out to the waiting room to greet her and was so calm. My daughter who had entered the office in tears was in a deep conversation about Disneyland by the time her procedure began and left smiling and happy.I’d also like to add that the office staff is fantastic as well. Everyone is so nice and willing to answer any questions you have.

Both of our kids have truly loved going to Encinitas Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontist. The front office staff is kinda, friendly, and welcoming. Our two little ones immediately feel comfortable. The doctors and rest of the staff have helped our daughter feel relaxed and have patiently worked with her each visit to the point that she now feels confident sitting in the chair. We are so grateful for their care. Our 2 year old son had the best time at his recent visit. He immediately got in the chair and sat for his whole visit- with lots of praise and kind words from the techs and doctors. As a parent, I am grateful for the time the doctors take to walk me through the visit. They have always been thorough and so gracious with their time and feedback. Our regular office is at 4s Pediatric Dentistry however my daughter needed to have general anesthesia in order to have her work done so we had to have our appointment at the Encinitas office. Everyone there was extremely sweet and helpful throughout the whole process. The office is also very clean and had a huge playroom for the kids which my daughter loved! Dr. Spencer is the best, he is so sweet, he gal and patient with kids. Definitely a 10 out of 10, I definitely recommend Encinitas Pediatric Dentistry.

My family loves this place! My kids look forward to coming to the dentist (unlike me as a child) because it’s filled with compassionate and lovely folks who make every appointment a pleasure. Whether it’s the toys in the waiting room, the movies and headphone in the chair or the phenomenal staff who are so sweet and invested in how my kids are doing in school and with friends, it’s always an amazing experience. They had three emergencies come in today prior to our appointments, but the staff was competent and gracious, asking if we’d like water or coffee as we wait. All I know is, is that I would be so grateful to have the dentists and staff take care of my littles if they had an emergency with all attention and questions answered if I was in the same situation. A little wait time is nothing if it means they are taking care of those who need it most. Let’s always give our front line people some grace as they maneuver emergencies and appointments. Dr. Spencer is seriously the best pediatric dentist! My 6 year old daughter was very nervous as she had a piece of her tooth fall off randomly and didn’t know what to expect at her dentist visit and Dr. Spencer did such a great job taking the time to explain to her the process and what to expect next. In a happy & calm voice he took the time to show her all the tools that were going to be used and new exactly what to do to keep her calm and happy throughout. Our experience is always great. Dr. Spencer did such an incredible job making my son feel comfortable during his filling. He made him laugh a lot and was so gentle my son didn’t even know he got a Novocain injection. He left afterward saying how easy it was and he was so glad he didn’t need to get a shot. All of the staff are very caring and professional. I am so grateful we found them!

I can’t share enough incredible things about my experience at Encinitas pediatric dental office. It is very clean, well kept, and organized. They made the registration process and paperwork easy and sent reminder texts before my appointment. Every single person we encountered was extremely kind, professional, and talented at their job.Before my sons appointment I was seen for my cleaning, X-rays and assessment. Dr Hansen is absolutely AMAZING!!! Cannot recommend her enough!! Caring, detail oriented, and has an amazing standard of care. Lauren was awesome and made sure I was comfortable the whole time during the cleaning.Having an appointment for myself with a baby and toddler is never easy but they were so accommodating and made the entire process seamless.It was my son’s first time (age 3) and I was extremely nervous about how he would feel because he is sensitive to new experiences. Not only was he not scared, he LOVED it and has been asking to go back since. Crystal and Dr Spencer were patient, warm, and fun with him. He especially loved the play area, trucks, and figuring out what all the equipment did. I’ve had positive experiences taking my toddler to Encinitas Pediatric Dentistry. They have a clean, open play area for the kids. My daughter doesn’t want to leave! Everyone that works here is so nice, welcoming, and upbeat, most especially Dr. Spencer. He makes my daughter feel comfortable at the dentist and is always so encouraging at our visits. He’s 100% positive and you can tell he really loves what he does. We love this office! Dr. Spencer is not only an amazing doctor but just a great human being. He has five kids of his own and he just understands children so well and that helps so much when procedures might be uncomfortable or make my kids nervous. He’s funny and so kind and he eases their minds immediately. He’s wonderful with the kids and helps ease my mind as a parent with a history of dental anxiety. We don’t just get excellent care, we also get lots of laughs and fun and high fives. Things we’ve dealt with: severe dental injuries (my daughter’s knocked out a permanent tooth and he saved her smile—I’ll never forget his expertise in saving the tooth or his kindness when I was a mess literally sobbing in his office), multiple extractions under anesthesia (ortho related), multiple issues with canker sores for one kid and yesterday he did an extraction of a baby tooth and my son didn’t even feel it. So I’m not just talking about cleanings here when I talk about how great they are. I’m referring to serious dental needs that we’ve experienced with this team.Through all of this, my kids LOVE the dentist and that’s because of Dr. Spencer and his team. There is no one better.

Just started bringing my son here and so far their service is stellar. They really go above and beyond in everything they do. Im really blown away on how professional they are. My son was in a accident back in July of this year and suffered major facial trauma. The facial surgeons at Scripps LaJolla (Dr. Bischoff and Dr. Scholer) highly recommended Dr. Berchtold and his team. They told me if you want the best Orthodontist and Dentistry for your son, go see him and his crew in Encinitas. My son and our family have had an amazingpositive experience with all the medical staff involved in piecing my son back together. The staff here are amazing!! We were greeted by Amber who was super nice and understanding when it came to navigating insurance. Gabby was awesome with my 18 month old and keeping her calm while brushing her teeth as well as assisting Dr. Avi. We had a terrific experience. The office is set up so nicely. TVs, portable X-rays, and fast dental hygienists. They knew exactly how to handle my three kids ages 8, 6, and 3. Doctor Spencer was incredible. So kind and personable with the kids. When he was concerned about a cavity, he said “let’s discuss this together.” I really appreciate him explaining everything. Above and beyond experience every time. The moment we walk in we’re greeted with a friendly smile. The receptionist always engage in genuine small talk. They are prompt with their appointments but are willing to wait when we’re running late. The entire staff is amazing every step of the way. My daughter got her tooth pulled out today and the dentist and assistant made her feel safe, comfortable, and took her attention away from what was happening in a fun and engaging way. My 6 year old loves how she gets to watch a movie every time she goes and her favorite part is the prize drawer at the end. Honestly this is the best service we have ever gotten. Highly recommend this dentist office. Office is beautiful, Tvs on the ceiling and headsets makes childrens appointment goes smoothly, staff is really friendly. I had a great experience during my daughters appointment. Dr. Carly was the treating provider that day and her assistant was Brianna. They were very calm and patient during her cleaning, x-rays, and exams. They were also very informative on my childs dental health and habits.

We love Encinitas Pediatric Dentistry! My son Rowan has been going there since he was 2 years old. We tried a few places before finding EPD and it was very disappointing. We are glad that we found doctor Spencer and doctor Avi. Rowan actually gets excited when is time for him to go. The dentists, assistants and receptionists are super nice and great with kids. They also always give us so many options for treatment and I never feel forced to do anything that we dont feel comfortable doing. My son is 9 years old and had structural movement required to correct his underbite. Dr. Thomas Berchtold was resourceful in applying best practices to correct his stubborn alignment. We are grateful that our son will not need future jaw surgery because of the attention and dedication of Dr. Berchtold. Was looking for a new dentist for my daughter after moving to San Diego and came across Encinitas Pediatric Dentistry! We went in October for her first visit and she loved it so much she wouldn’t stop talking about it. We came back for her 6 month cleaning this April and the experience was still amazing! I’m the guy who hates the dentist and have high anxiety when it comes to even stepping into the office. I kinda put that on my daughter. But the ladies at the front desk were super nice, friendly and inviting. The ladies in the back were awesome with my daughter and talked her through the whole process of what was going to happened and put any anxiety we both had at ease. Lauren, one of the dental hygienists who moves between offices is the most caring and skilled person I have ever had clean my teeth. If you have teeth sensitivity or fear of going to the dentist, do yourself a favor a favor schedule your cleaning with her.It really makes a difference when someone remembers where you have pain in your mouth and uses spray to help with challenging spots. Zero stress in taking my kids to the dentist. This is the third dentist office I have tried and they are by far the absolute best I’ve been to for my kids. Their office is clean, they are welcoming and so incredibly patient. Both my kids, age 3 and 6, were a little anxious prior to their visits. The dental hygienist and dentist were so kind and very quick! That was a plus for me, as my kids are super wiggly. They have tv’s on the ceilings for the kids to watch as they’re getting their teeth cleaned.

Im so happy that my son was placed under the professional and kind care of Doctor Avi. We came in after my son fell face down to a hard surface, leading to him breaking his front tooth. We brought in the part that broke and Doctor Avi was able to glue it back beautifully!! I was very impressed by his ability to talk to my son in a way that helped him relax. We had a very positive for experience.

We cant rave enough about what a perfect fit Dr. Spencer and his team are with our two kids (6 & 8 years old). Our oldest has had a couple of not so great experiences at different offices and because she had a spacer put in a couple years ago, she was semi traumatized and didnt trust anyone to remove it when the time came... that time was today and Dr. Spencer and company were more than receptive to her needs and in no time, she was relaxed and let him remove it comfortably and without tears (a feat in itself)!! Thank you for having the patience needed and personality to address any patient that puts their trust in you... highly recommend EPD and Dr. Spencer!

It was the nicest dentist appointment I have ever been. From making a quick first appointment, to entering with a kid who just looked like he entered Disneyland, waiting time, to meeting the dentist, everything was just a positive experience. The entry waiting room is beautiful and put beautifully and modern together - just right for children. Everyone working there are very friendly and knowledgeable. We left with a balloon and a stuffed animal and a crying kid because he didn’t want to leave the dentist office 😆

Highly recommend this dentist office! Office is beautiful and staff is really friendly. Dr Kristen for adults is the best dentist I’ve ever been to! She’s so friendly and patient. She walked me through my X-rays in so much detail and answered all my questions. My teeth were super clean after I saw her. Unfortunately I had a cavity but she did such a great job filling it I didn’t even mind having it done. With the Netflix and headphones it’s a rare time during my day to relax! Can’t wait to bring my 1 year old here too. She already has an appointment :)

Let me start by saying I Never post reviews however, in this case, I must give credit when credit IS DUE. This is my second visit with Dr. Kristen and she is thee Best! She not only has the sweetest disposition...she made me feel completely calm and comfortable during both appointments. She addressed all my concerns...(since I had not been to the dentist in quiet sometime, embarrassing to admit) the entire apt was flawless and More importantly Painless. Her assistant Aika was so sweet as well as Stephanie. She explained everything she was doing in detail AND with a beautiful smile on her face. Let me not leave out Dr. Kristens receptionist Leticia, shes SO bubbly and friendly. Its so comforting to come in to an appointment where youre warmly greeted. Especially when your feeling a little apprehensive and nervous. The entire team set any fear I had at ease. I do love Dr Spencer but Covid precautions are seriously lacking!! Contradicting their website, they do have several patients waiting in the waiting room. Next you have the receptionist sitting at the front desk constantly talking on the phone with NO MASK! (See pictures)They had four chairs but instead of using every other one, they use the 2 chairs next to each other. Yes, they are 6ft apart but here you are working in the mouths of two patients without masks at the same time for an extended period of time. SHM Makes me question their disinfectant practices too.This office clearly doesn’t have our well being in mind!! My family will not be returning.
