This is one of the most beautiful libraries you’ll ever see. Do yourself a favor and visit soon. Don’t forget to visit the Friends of the Library bookstore right in front to pick up some great bargains on high quality books, cds, dvds and puzzles. All proceeds go directly to the library!

Thanks to a lovely staff member who asked Did you see it? We got the opportunity to see the eclipse while celebrating our daughters 18th birthday! We were visiting from NJ and werent sure we would be able to witness here on the west coast. Thank you a wonderful event and taking care of all the visitors!

Comfortable seating. S long building with a zigzag west wall to maximize seating with a view of the ocean. Also a pergola covered patio with lots of andirondack chairs as well as patio tables and flower boxes along the wall. Translucent shades to soften the afternoon sun. Clean bathrooms and big spaces for children and young adult books as well as the obligatory fiction and nonfiction stacks

This library is one of the nicest Ive been to; its a very clean and updated building and makes you feel very comfortable. They also have some separate areas including a literacy lab and a closed area outside that is kid friendly. I also like that its not far from my chiropractor, so when I go to Innate Health and Healing I can easily stop in.

Gorgeous building and terrific views! The back patio overlooking the ocean is awesome.The library itself seemed to have a smaller selection than some other SDCL locations. But it was quiet and clean with good light and lots of cool reading nooks. The art gallery was neat too. Clean restrooms.Sara at the accounts counter was super helpful and friendly!

Dont get me wrong, its a great library and just find other libraries a lot more inviting. It has a very basement feel (despite being on the 1st floor). Tons of parking out front which makes it a great hidden gem in Encinitas.if you are a CA resident, you can get access to Libby even before you walk in & get your physical card - very generous!!

I visited this library on the way to San Diego and can say that it’s the most beautiful library I ever visited or to be more accurate this library has the best view. Because you can see the ocean from the big windows and sit on the balcony. The only thing I didn’t find a coffee there 🤔

I love this little library. It is very quaint. Its perfect for a quick stop to relax and read. They have a little outdoor area and a bookstore as well. There is a good selection of movies. Staff is always friendly.

A family-friendly place. This library gets busy at times. It has outdoor patios (which I love bc of the ocean view), free wifi (a basic necessity these days), and tables with outlets for those with their own computers (they get taken in a hurry).The only thing that bugs me a little are the rug rats that roam inside on scavenger hunts with their parents. Apparently, its a daily thing. I only mention this bc Im not a parent. Otherwise, very good library.

When the day turns to dusk earlier, the view of the sunset on the ocean is spectacular. It is one of those gifts to the people of.And, Genuinely one of the kindest and most well-mannering of libraries and friends bookstores in the county.If you are on staycation in your home county and have to stop at the library-- This one !This is one of my favorite libraries.

Usually LOVE this library, it’s great to study in and has a nice view. Their security team is incredibly rude. It’s not patrons fault that your website/Google says your open when you aren’t, there’s no need to be so aggressive about it when people simply walk up and ask.

Comfortable beautiful library space. Decent selection. Im surprised they dont make more displays on top of or next to shelves. Its the kind of space where I could sit and read or do some work for a while if I ever wanted space outside my home. Feels safe.

Such sweet librarians work here! Love bringing the kids. They get to pick out 3 books each, and we did a fun scavenger hunt this last visit that they loved. We also got balboa park museum passes as part of the summer reading program! Love this place.

Been going to this library for decades. I always enjoy my time here. Just all around incredible place. I mean, the chairs they offer you to sit in can be found in your own living room. The views too, are totally awesome. And the ocean breeze that naturally streams in through the giant windows on the giant deck overlooking the beautiful Encinitas.... Man...

Went to this library today for a change of scenery for studying. It was beautiful, easy to find, and lots of parking. The table I sat at had plenty of electric outlets, which was nice because I needed to charge my computer for a bit. It was very well lit and the views of the ocean cant be beat. I was even able to get a pick-me-up snack from the cart outside. It looks (and sounds) like they do a lot of great programs there, but that was not a part of the visit today. I also didnt get a chance to sit on the patio area, but I guess I will just have to sit out there next time. I will definitely be visiting again!

This is no library, its a daycare for mentally unwell people and a shelter for the homeless when it rains.I have no problem with this had I known before going in so I could of been aware but instead went inside with two young kids who were harrassed by two mentally handicapped children that plague this library on a regular basis.One of these kids came up behind my daughter and jumped at her making a loud vocal noise scaring her.The other one sat in the childrens book section on a table across from my then 4 year old staring locked gaze while picking their nose and wiping it under the table.They were doing it constantly so i brought it to the librarians attention WHO SAW IT HAPPENING, and refused to do anything about it. She said there was nothing she could do. I said they are actively defacing property and disturbing children, and she basically said it was fine.That was the last time i ever went, but my daughters friends from paul ecke elementary have all shared similar stories and experiences and dont like going there, as recently as a few weeks ago encounters with these two erratic mentally handicapped people that get dropped off by their father. The school library is much preferred .

A beautiful library, the staffs are helpful and enthusiastic with their work. The space is full of light and good air to work. There are not a variety of books to choose. But the opening hours is bad for some people who works from home like me. On Wednesday and Thursday they only open from 12pm. Most day, the opening hour is already late, at 10am. If I want to start and early day to read or study, this kind of opening hour is so unhelpful and discouraging. If public facility is open to nurture the community, it should facilitate more hours for study and reading.

I miss a lot that library. The staff is very nice, they always answer my questions. The place is amazing. Specially I love it because its natural light and the ocean’s views. I always use my ears’ plugs ( I use them in my home and other libraries too, if you are very sensitive to the noise like me, they are necessary) so, I haven’t problems with the noise. Normally people is very quite. And staff remember to someone when it is necessary to be in silent. Also they have very comfortable couchs. You can reserve a study room. I really love this library. I hope visit it soon.

Love this place. Fantastic view of the ocean in the patio. Great kids section. The used book store always have gems, and has the most friendly staff. Best of all, after you get a library card here, you can access to the vast electronic library collection of the San Diego Country Library system (through Overdrive app or the newer Libby app).

Wow, I sounded like a broken record. With each new section and room of the library, my breath was taken from my lungs. I had seen a lot of libraries in my travels but this one shocked me. Its so beautiful, I almost mistook it for some kind of luxury outlet. Even the outdoor coffee and the bookstore seemed like it was out of place for a library.Its just that beautiful. Off to the sides theres venue space, gallery room, a childrens nook, and even a quiet study area by the newspaper stacks. Honestly, I would stop back in for the Encinitas Library alone, on my way back through.

Beautiful library and location (you can look at the ocean! )!Location is high up in Encinitas so best to have a car than walk or bike to it. Thats the only thing I didnt like.Very clean. A lot of seating and beautiful views.I want there too long so Im not sure alp they have to offer with books/events/etc.

The library locates at the heart of Encinitas with a fantastic view of the ocean. It is a great place to hang out to browse magazines, read books, and study. It has plenty of sitting spaces and study rooms. The staffs are friendly and helpful. It also has a coffee stand outside of the library so you can get a drink during your study break. Parking is not an issue since there are ample parking spaces. It also has a bookstore where you can find some used books at good price and its proceeds will benefit the library. All in all, a great public library with good facilities and great view!

Nice location with easy parking, but when did a library stop being quite. Kids running around, dudes playing music loudly on their laptops. I tried to come for peace and quiet. Miss the librarians when I was a kid that made people be quiet.

This is the nicest library you have ever seen, it is in a wonderful location with the best view. Great sitting area, amazing book selection and the staff is so nice. They have computers, a wireless printer network with Apple AirPrint, and conference rooms for your group. Also a wonderful art gallery & community room

This is a hit on the hours of the Encinitas Library. Lets go out on a limb and say your average public Encinitas resident works, Monday through Friday. Does being closed on Saturday and Sunday, in addition to being open from 10am-4pm during the work week, full-fill the mission of the Encinitas Public library? Are we allowing the residents to utilize these public resources in an efficient manner? Or, maybe, would it make more sense to have later hours during the week, and have the public library open on the days when the public has the most free time?!I realize this is salty, its Sunday morning and I was stoked to hit the Lib but then checked their hours and wrote this review in angst. Is it fair, nay. Is it sensitive, nah again. But if the successful businesses (shout out to Taco Stand!) on the 101 had the same open hours logic theyd all be out of business. And it pains me to see public resources run in a way that would bankrupt them if they were private. Literally leaning on the public dollar crutch.Off my soap box. I need a cold La Croix to calm down, perhaps a ride down Neptune to see where happiness lives. Encinitas is justly proud of its wonderful library. The architecture is well suited to its location up on a hill with beautiful view of the Pacific Ocean. The collection is extensive, and there are banks of computers available for patrons use.

Very comfortable, bright, modern facility and amenities, great views through large wrapping windows and friendly staff. I usually find a cozy seat in the quiet SW corner with an ottoman and peaceful ocean view; pop the earbuds in and get to work. 5 stars only if they had a few partitioned work spaces to keep distractions to a min.Two important things I didnt see other reivews mention is free access to WIFI and POWER:1)WIFI is free and has good coverage throughout, but its open/unsecured like most hotspots are (e.g. coffeshops) and has some built-in restrictions to content access. Ping/Upload/Download speeds are modest but effective.2) POWER outlets may be hard to find. HINT...look to the floor! Theyre tucked away in rectangular floor boxes as the library design uses a raised access floor system for HVAC and other utilities (leaves the open ceiling space look much cleaner)...see photos.

Went to a Christmas concert years ago. I live in Vista now and travel down to sit in this library to study. Phenomenal library, it certainly inspires my intellectual pursuits. I wish they were all created equal.

This is my favorite library in San Diego county. Located on hilltop, one side of the library is glass wall overlooking the ocean, gorgeous view. This place makes me feel so peaceful.
