Avoid this dental! Its a scam!Check their 109 1-star reviews on Yelp if you do not believe me. I deeply regret for not checking this prior my visit to EDC.Here is my story:I brought my daughter for cleaning on Feb 1, 2023, but did not get the service. I filled out the paperwork online, but when I came I had to spend another 45 minutes to fill out the paperwork. Then I had to pay $285 for co-payment in case my insurance did not cover. She said it will be refunded once the insurance paid, usually within 2 weeks. She spent almost an hour to take bunch of X-rays and not even finished when I had to leave. I came back a few days later for the cleaning and was told to pay another co-payment because she has not finished with the X-ray.Regardless, I didnt get the service I asked for (cleaning), was charged $285 and did not get the refund. Its been over 4 months and their EDC team and Accounting were not responsive at all. Save your headache and go somewhere else. I did not get any dental work done, but I wont be surprised if she will do much more extra work that you do not ask for.6/8/23 update:This is in response to EDC comments to mine.I came to your place for cleaning only and did not ask for a comprehensive exam because my daughter just had her braces removed. Her orthodontist just completed a full exam after the braces was removed a week earlier. One or two xrays are understood, but not for full hour or more of xrays. All of these exams are no use to me and i dont even remember questions i asked nor your nonsense responses.As for yelp, I meant i should have checked your reviews before coming to your office for a visit.Fyi, i have tried contacting your EDC team and EDC accounting teams asking for the accounting report and refund, and received zero response to date.Here are the dates where email was sent to you:March 1, 2023March 27, 2023April 30, 2023May 1, 2023June 4, 2023June 6, 2023I would appreciate it if you could provide a reply to my inquiry.Thank you

I would not recommend this dental clinic. In August of 2021 I received care from Emeryville Dental. I used Emeryville because they were close to my work and had strong online reviews -- do not trust the positive reviews here.My entire experience was very upsetting and unlike any dental visit I have ever had. I received X-rays, an oral evaluation, a cleaning, and fluoride totaling $660. I paid this out of pocket. Emeryville Dental then billed my Dental insurance for $660. I had to contact Emeryville Dental several times to request my reimbursement, and finally received it in late October.My care was substandard and after my exam the dentist claimed that I several cavities. They immediately pressured me to make a quick follow up appointment to have the work done. Instead, I asked around my office and found another dentist that was recommended. The second opinion confirmed my long history of dental care -- I was fine, my teeth were in excellent shape, and he would not recommend any dental work.I will not be returning to Emeryville Dental, and I would not recommend their services to others.

Honestly this is a great place. I don’t think I have had anyone look so deeply into my mouth and with such care as Dr.Magno. She was able to not only discover but actively treat several conditions that were not pointed by any of the 4 dentists I have been to in the last 3 years. She developed a treatment plan and always actively works with my budgeting needs (like a payment plan, breaking up fillings and extractions into several sessions vs one big one). In many ways I am very happy to have found her and so close to home. She may be pricier than the other dentist you found, but at least you’ll never have to replace any of the fillings she had made and won’t have to worry about your teeth with her on guard!

There was a point in time when I failed numerous times to achieve that perfect work life balance. Blame it on my hectic schedule, tension, family pressure, and personal lifestyle. What became worse was my dental issues. Ive had dentures crowns, and bridges, which I was not happy with some time. But my next-door colleague came to me as a blessing in disguise. He told me about Emeryville Dental Care and Dr. Rose Magno. I was impressed with her mini dental implants solutions that replaced my bridges and missing teeth. My ugly crowns were finally replaced with natural looking crowns and my ugly black filling were replaced with natural looking fillings. Now all my teeth all look and all feel natural! Look to no other dental office,This is the place to Be. Salut!

I originally went here about 4.5 years ago due to the very high google reviews. After my experience however, I found most of the reviews to be false.I went in for a cleaning only. Time and time again the dentist pushed for expensive diagnostic tests/x-rays even though I told her that I had gotten x-rays within the last year. I recently had suffered a burn in my mouth and let the dentist know. She proceeded to lecture me saying that she needed to take a biopsy in case I had a herpes infection in my mouth. My retaining wire was apparently misplaced by my previous dentist so she wanted to re-do the placement. More and more procedures were proffered as necessary for my dental health. Dealing with insurance through their office was also a pain, as they did not submit the necessary information and dragged their feet in rectifying the situation. Do not give these people the business or time of day.

The best dentist in town! Since we moved to Emeryville three years ago, my husband and I have been getting our teeth cleaned here. Dr. Rose and her staff are very friendly and do an excellent job. Emeryville Dental Care is an all-inclusive dental clinic in the San Francisco Bay Area. I was suffering from missing teeth issues, and the clinic was able to sort out my problem. Dr. Rose Magno in Emeryville California is a highly professional and skilled dentist. My mini dental implant perfectly looks like natural looking teeth. My life came back thanks to Dr. Rose Magno. Their provider listed under Delta Dental insurance no longer works at Emeryville Dental Care but Im not the only one who chose that dentist thinking I was covered by my insurance. Emeryville Dental Care also submitted my claim twice to my insurances billing. I didnt even get my teeth cleaned there yet theyre expecting me to forego $300. Despite the general high review on Google maps a quick skimming of the low reviews on here and yelp will reveal many experiences similar to mine. Thankfully my bank is helping me fight this - capitalism is garbage but if weve gotta do this money thing then I dont want a dentist conning me, especially since they make way more money than me

I went to this very nice office and very kind and wonderful dentist both today and last week. I had the right side of my mouth worked on today (deep cleaning) and they did a wonderful job and were very kind and patient with me! Dr. Rose is very knowledgeable in both cosmetic and regular dental needs. I highly recommend this dental office. They are always accommodating. Its easy to get an appointment and I trust the dentists here. They will not try and sell you treatments you dont need.

Dr Mango was great! I have great difficulty with dental work due to my gag reflex. Dr. Mango laid out exactly what will done and convinced me that we could get the work done. We got all the work done with relatively little discomfort. I am very happy with the end result. I am looking forward to reviving the permanent crown in a couple weeks. Please be cautioned.This complaint is in regards to mistreatment, bullying, and unethical practices exhibited by dentist, Dr. Rose Magno of Emeryville Dental Care. Dr. Magnos behavior toward me was a display of arrogance and self-righteousness, speaking condescendingly, and exhibiting a deep lack of empathy. I am on Medi-Cal/Denti-Cal (medicaid) because I have a disability that prevents me from working. Dr. Magno saw this as an opportunity for her to treat me like a second-class citizen. And, what a disappointing irony to experience a violation of my civil rights on this day, celebrating the life of Martin Luther King Jr. The details are below.Today, Monday January 17, 2022, I was scheduled for a dental appointment at Emeryville Dental Care at 9:30 a.m. The appointment was moved to 9:45 a.m., half an hour before the previously scheduled time. I arrived at the office at 9:30 a.m. (because I like to get to appointments early) only to find it closed. I called the office, and the associate stated she was working remotely. I was never previously informed the dental office would be closed till the dentist arrived. After waiting outside for twenty minutes, the dentist arrived only to drive me away from her clinic because she did not accept my insurance plan, Denti-Cal. Before making the appointment, I on multiple occasions confirmed that the clinic did accept Denti-Cal. I started each conversation with the scheduler clearly stating, I have a medicaid plan called Denti-Cal, part of Medi-Cal. Are you certain you accept this insurance? She confirmed my statement.In November of 2021 I called Emeryville Dental Care to make an appointment. The receptionist told me the clinic only schedules a certain number of Denti-Cal patients each month, and the next available appointment would be on Tuesday January 11, 2022. I gave her my insurance information and scheduled the appointment. I called the office to verify my appointment, but no one answered the phone. Afterwards I received a call by the receptionist asking me when I would like to schedule my next appointment. I was puzzled and told her I had a previous appointment scheduled. She rescheduled me and, once again, confirmed that the clinic accepts Denti-Cal.When the dentist arrived to open the clinic, her first remark was, I thought you werent coming. I was puzzled as to how she came to this conclusion as I was informed multiple times via texts and calls regarding my confirmed appointment.So, I questioned her. She aggressively responded, We dont take your insurance! I emphasized I had already confirmed that her office accepts my insurance plan, Denti-Cal.Her response was, We dont take Denti-Cal. I asked her why her associate confirmed the clinic accepts Denti-Cal. She said no one had done so, and I didnt know what I was talking about. She then added, Well, we thought you had Delta. I’ve never heard of this insurance plan. And, Delta doesnt even sound like Denti-Cal, Medicaid or Medi-Cal.She then added, Nothing is free here. We dont do anything for free. I reminded her that Denti-Cal is not a free service as the government covers the cost.She condescendingly remarked, Its free for you.Dont treat me like a second class citizen, I asserted.So, dont feel like a second class citizen, she said.I will be filing a complaint to the state, I stated as I walked out.I left the office with a heavy heart. I had never been treated so poorly, belittled, and humiliated. I walked back home in tears.I have a disability, which prevents me from working. Thats why I have Medi-Cal/Denti-Cal. I cannot speak on the dental skills of Dr. Magno, (although the Yelp reviews confirm that she is terribly unskilled and unethical). However, what I do know from experience is that empathy and respect for fundamental human rights are a clear indication of the competence of a healthcare provider.

Dont go to this dental care! Make sure you read yelp reviews before you make an appointment. Some of the positive google reviews are fake. Not trustworthy from the first place. They will charge you upfront and let you pay more after the service using some ridiculous excuse. Seriously, it even didnt do a good job on general cleaning. Extremely overcharging and hidden fee.The attitude is rude and not helpful at all.Hint - If you had a similar bad experience with them (unfortunately), I would suggest you to file a complaint on BBB.

Will give zero stars if I can.Any given time something goes wrong here (appointment, billing, unsatisfied services), it is ALWAYS other people’s problem. They take zero accountability of any issues. Coupled with incompetent customer services and rude attitude of the doc herself. She apparently is unable and unwilling to take any advise, criticisms, and areas for improvement.They even deny patients for these reasons.There are many dental offices around, run far, run fast from this place.

BEWARE! I had a terrible experience at EDC last winter. Dr. Magno bullied me into getting a gingevectomy last winter under the pretense that I had moderate to serious cavities - which another dentist told me were simply discolorations of the teeth after the surgery. She referred to my dental plan as how much money I had to use that year, acting as though the goal was to spend all of it. She double-billed every procedure. She comes off as pleasant at first, but turns quite aggressive the second money comes out.P.S., I see Dr. Magno replied to my review:Dr. Magno’s response demonstrates the unprofessional behavior I warned of in my original review, above. She (inaccurately) discusses my medical history, an amazing breach of her professional ethics. Apparently she did that to bury the bulk of the complaint in details. She falsely reports that my gum overgrowth caused cavities underneath my gums. When I went to another dentist after the gingevectomy she pushed on me, he told me that those were discolorations and not cavities – certainly not the “moderate to serious” cavities that she misdiagnosed.Despite her denial, she also did double-bill me, so that the insurance agency had to mark one as turned down and one as accepted in order to bill me a single time. I asked her to stop doing that at one point, and she refused. Dr. Magno also lies when she says I wanted to use up my insurance benefits for the year – in fact, she pushed me into having the gingevectomy before my new benefits cycle, when it would have been cheaper, by emphasizing the seriousness of the nonexistent “cavities” under the teeth.No professional should first misdiagnose a patient, then overbill for unnecessary services, and then hover over social media so she can post nonsensical personal attacks and inaccurate personal medical details to distract from poor reviews.

This is one of the worst places to go. They are just running a farce business in the name of dental care.My wife and I went for our cleaning on Dec 2015. We only decided to do the basic cleaning, which at that time they said was a total of $70. They were not sure how much my insurance would cover, but insisted that it wont be more that $35 at that time. After that, Dr. Rose Magno did not do the cleaning properly and I could still feel a deposited layer on my teeth, which I never had felt on my prior visits to other dentists. Then they scheduled future appointments without our consent (as if to show how much they cared). I came to know about it after a month and when I called them to cancel both of our appointments, they said they had pending charges on my wifes account. They went on to tell me then that the cleaning fees was $150 and only $90 was paid my insurance for her. They did not even contact us with the statement of pending charges and now said that I had to pay $72 because there were some charges as I did not pay on time. When I asked about why they did not let me know, the person at the reception just said that they would send us an email with the statement. Why the hell didnt they send the email or the bill to us at the first place?It is so ridiculous to deal with such an incompetent staff and doctors. I highly recommend not to go to this place. They do not care about people and only want money.

For anyone checking this place out before visiting, please check the Yelp review as well.Worst experience with any dentist. Charged so much before hand. If you go to another place, you may only need to pay a minimum co pay at most, for a general exam and cleaning. This place charged hundreds! The front desk is also their financial department,lol! The doctor was not professional at all and just kept telling me I had so many problems with my teeth, while other places all said my teeth were fine. They tried so hard to charge you to much for non-existing issues! There front desk staff have changed so often, and I guess that is because they realized what a terrible place this actually is!And for same stuff they charge way more than market price, so your insurance will not cover that for you, because they realize the price is not reasonable at all.Your experience may vary, but please check out the yelp review at least for reference!

Unless you plan to pay cash ahead of time, I cannot recommend this office. I made an appointment and when I arrived I was presented with paperwork that basically said that Im responsible for filling out the insurance claims. This was a huge red flag. Ive never been to a dentist that didnt submit claims to insurance themselves. This is just an effort to shift the billing work to the customer, a person who probably has zero, or very little, knowledge about medical billing.Edit: To respond to the owner, Im very sure that I have the same office. If youve changed your practices since Ive been there, then good on you for taking positive steps to fix a bad system.

Dr Magno is a serious dentist, with a sound knowledge and a real desire to help. I came in in emergency and she spent a whole hour to figure out the causes of the pain before treating it. Although the office does not look modern and clean, I would totally trust her to treat me further if I was a local patient.

This is the most unprofessional dentistry in Emeryville. I went in for a wisdom tooth extraction and almost left without six top row teeth. They do not care about you oral health or you as a person they only care about money. Since they didn’t pull out my tooth I continued to have agonizing pain to the point I can not sleep when I reached out to them for a referral to an oral surgeon, after having a full exam with them; I was told no and that I had to schedule another appointment with them before I could referred. Their next appointment wasn’t for two weeks. They didn’t do the job I asked them to do when I went in the first time now they are refusing to do the job now. There’s so much more to their level unprofessionalism but due to a restriction on characters it would be to long to explain. Don’t go to them they will rip you off and if you do go don’t buy anything extra from them like their mouth wash their selling for $70 yeah you can get that from any other dentist for $39.99 and that’s on the high side. I am going to report them to the Dental association with full details of what transpired.

DO NOT SEE THIS DENTIST. I went to this dentist and was told to pay upfront for my cleaning which I did. It was $600. They said that I would be reimbursed the money by mail. They filled out the form for the reimbursement. I never received the money and had to call my insurance company for them to tell me that the check was sent to the Emeryville Dental, not me. When I called Emeryville Dental, they said that now I had credit with them. Obviously a snarky way for me to spend MORE money with them. Also they told me I had 9 cavities. This was diagnosed by a laser pointer tool. I later got a second opinion, and was told I had 2 cavities, and that insurance does not cover cavities discovered by the laser due to it not currently being proven as diagnostic. Also, I did need to get a deep cleaning done on my gums. They were going to charge me $1300 after insurance for this and at my other dentist it is $500. Also my other dentist told me that my cleaning was completely covered by my insurance twice yearly, although Emeryville Dental charged me $600 upfront and reimbursed themselves with the $450 of credit in their office. They wanted to remove my wisdom teeth. This dentist also said, Its not that you are getting fat, your cheeks just look fat because you grind your teeth at night. She wanted to charge me another $800 to get a mouth gaurd. Aside from the criticism, I have never been told I grind my teeth at night. Also, my current dentist said normally there are signs of grinding such as molars getting flattened on top and she did not see any signs of this. Emeryville dental wanted to also remove all my wisdom teeth. My current dentist said my wisdom teeth are not compromising the rest of my teeth at all and show no signs of bacterial build up and there is no reason to remove these. She told me that I had very good genes on my side in the way of health of my teeth. She did recommend the deep cleaning which I did, and she took care of my two cavities at the total cost of $600. Had I stayed with Emeryville Dental, it would have cost me over $5,000 for all the falsified diagnosiss they wanted to treat. Emeryville Dental is just a bunch of money hungry liars. GO ELSEWHERE!!

Originally I said this place gets 1/5 on Yelp and then the owner went on a rant saying that Yelp is the internet mafia. So let me stick to what I experienced.Rating is due to the high price. On the plus side, they let me know they were going to charge me beforehand. On the down side, their prices are really high. I asked for a general exam and a cleaning. Got told I need a general exam, x-ray, and double cleaning and that itll cost $800 before insurance. Quick googling says general exam costs $50-200, x-ray is $25-250, and basic cleaning is $75-200 before insurance. Everybody knows dental is absurdly expensive in the US but even then, this place is above the upper range.They wanted to charge me upfront because they werent sure if my insurance would pay for everything. In the response to my previous review, they said my dental only pays like HMO, but were talking about basic preventative care here. My insurance plan says it pays 100% for preventative but according to the Emeryville Dental Care, they dont guarantee that theyll pay for everything. Pretty sure thats just because some dentists are like Emeryville Dental Care and charge way too much.

After having my smile done, the experience was very exciting to see my transformation. I was always a person that liked to smile, but now I even have more reason to smile. There is usually not a day that goes by when someone comments on how beautiful my teeth are. Someone had recommended me to go to an ENT after I had my braces taken off and had my wisdom teeth pulled because I was having jaw pain and ringing in my ears.None of these dentists, Oral surgeon and Orthodontist, could figure out what my jaw and ear problem was. I went to Dr. Magno‘s office and she fixed my bite in 5 to 10 minutes and now I am jawpain-free and ringing of my ear disappeared. Amazing !

Avoid this dentist. Very scammy and dishonest regarding insurance. Prices are way above market. They use scare tactics to try to get additional money out of you. A number of these 5 star reviews are fake. Instead of focusing on dental care, this establishment is very focused on their reviews and I would not be surprised if they reply to my review with 100 excuses as to why theyre the best and I am wrong. I cannot recommend this place. The staff is rude and pushes you to buy services you dont need. Read the other 1 star reviews and beware. I made the mistake of not reading and Im paying with $$$ for the horrible service they overcharged me for. I should have walked out when I they asked me to prepay the cost and also asked for my insurance details. They overcharge the insurance and then never return the money they charged you to when you made the visit. So they double dip into insurance pot and your cash. Be smart and dont fall for the paid four star reviews. I cant believe the crooks run this place.

Too high of a cost, I paid $400+ for general clean up and radio-graphic images which are suppose to be free for in-network and they never say that they are out of network for MET LIFE. When I spoke to insure person he said they are charging double the other Dentists around east bay. Not recommended

5 stars all around amazing dentist she actually cares about her customers and not just take your money and rush through the job I came in missing my front tooth it was lost and I also didn’t have any insurance to cover it i was kind of worried I was going to have to go around with a bad smile for a while but no she gave me time to get my things in order and allowed me to come back same day !!! Came in after hours and she did not stop working til my smile was PERFECT highly recommended I will be here getting more work done and she also give a lot of valuable information AMAZING EXPERIENCE very satisfied she’s a life saver thank you so much🙏🏽

I had gum infection two days after my 10 minutes teeth cleaning. I suggest that people read both google and yelp reviews and THINK!!!Update: They charged me extra for my insurance covered cleaning. I am not sure why this place is still in business.

Very bad experience, made me wait for more than an hour past the appointment time, charged me 350$ for just diagnosis and xray of which 150$ was out of pocket. My insurance usually covers 100% for xrays. Not transparent about what is covered and what is not.

The WORST experience I have ever had!I went to this place in 2021 to have a tooth extracted which was already in pain. When I arrived for the consultation, I took my insurance information and later they broke down the charges that I had to pay, which were around $520 dollars. A year and a half later I received notification of a charge of approximately $1,200 dls, because my insurance had not covered the services I performed. However, she never notified me, no email, no message or call. The amount she claimed was $600 dollars plus accrual of interest. We did not reach any agreement. I would never go to this place again, plus it has been the worst dentist I have ever had in terms of service.Think before you go.

Well in my case it was an implant, I consulted two more places and looked for more options for me, I think I came to the right place because at a more affordable price and a more practical and safe job. They took enough time to see my benefit, I am satisfied Because I met my need, I had gone to another place to consult but all the information was so fast that I only left there confused and even had a higher price and an implant that perhaps in the future could give me problems.
